Despite her appearance, she is physically quite strong, and can hold her own in a fight. Her ebony hair stops just a little short of her knees and it's always in a single braid. She has icy blue eyes that seem to read people like open books, and they stand out against her alabaster complexion. Her lips are full and red, and her expression is usually quite serious. She is an excellent persuasive speaker (she has a slight British accent), and often handles negotiations and treaties. She carries an air that demands respect, and she is quite ambitious. Storming's attitude to other people is cool and not trusting, but she is civil and treats everyone the same cold courtesy unless someone really ticks her off. Her uniform always neat and pressed, and she is always squeaky clean, but she's not afraid to get her hands dirty. She has a gun holster on her belt, but she also has one strapped around her right thigh which is hidden by her skirt. She also has a knife in each boot, and there are a few other tricks up her sleeves. She doesn't like being considered weak, and is not very forgiving when someone crosses her. Despite her ferocity in a battle, she likes to play the harp in her spare time. Elaina's fear of needles is fairly extreme, but only a few know about it. She hasn't aged at all since she turned 20, but she remembers her mother and how she never aged at all since she could remember, so figures it's just in her family. History: Storming's Xarian mother, Chieko was raped by some half-Keitosian scum who was already on the run. Authorities told her she was lucky to be alive. When she became pregnant, she refused to have an abortion, or give up the child when Elaina came into the world. As a single mother, Chieko worked hard to make sure her daughter had the best education possible, and Elaina proved to be quite intelligent not only academically, but musically, as well. She took an instant liking to the harp when she was nine, and her mother made sure she took lessons. After a little over year, she was able to compose her own music. Her life was a happy one, until her father reentered her life. One night, he returned, and brutally murdered her mother as Elaina listened from her room, too scared to do anything but hide under the covers. The neighbors had heard the noise, and alerted the authorities. When they came to the house they found that he was tearing apart furniture, and Elaina still in her bed, scared, but safe under her covers. Apparently, her saving grace was that he had no knowledge of her existence. However, she knew precisely who he was. Her mother had told her everything, and Elaina grew up hating him and secretly herself for it. Storming testified against her "Father" at the trial, and the half-Keitosian was hung the next day. She was orphaned at the age of 14, and left with nothing except a silver eagle statuette that had once been her mother's. Yankeirou, the spirit of the Silver Eagle, often came to her in dreams and visions to give her words of comfort and encouragement through out this difficult time. Despite her situation, she grateful that she had been able to find justice through the Empire's law, and promised herself to serve the Emperor for the rest of her days. The next two years at the orphanage were not hard ones, or at least they could have been worse. After thrashing a few of the bullies, it was quite clear that she was in charge and no one questioned her. She was a born leader, and what she said was law. The bullies she had usurped loathed her but they were also afraid and they grudgingly respected her. The ones that had been bullied were grateful to Elaina and they of course respected her, but she was far too distant and cold for them to actually like her. Despite her position, Elaina was not content at the orphanage and the thought of spending, or rather, wasting four years there seemed superfluous. When she turned 16, she lied about her age and joined the Empire's military (today her paperwork says she 32). Training was a lot tougher than she bargained for, but she was determined to rise above it. She quickly became a favorite by her hard work and by befriending the right officers. She joined the intelligence agency, and served for seven years as a secret agent, working her way up until she was in charge of the entire agency. By the time she was "29" (26 actually) she was promoted to general and began quelling rebellions and forming treaties making the conquered seem more like allies although they were still under the Empire's rule. Her first actual conquest was a completely success. Amra fell easily, but Elaina shrugged off the praise and didn't let it get to her head. It had been too simple; they had almost literally walked in and over the people. Shortly afterward, she handed the reigns over to another general and left to take care of an uprising on a different planet. When she received word of an especially disastrous cave in, General Storming returned and was absolutely appalled by the condition and the chaotic atmosphere of the planet. While she believed chaos was an excellent instrument to spread fear and confusion, it had absolutely no place in governeing an entire planet and its people. Amra now required order. She had the general removed from his position immediately, and hired the former crowned prince of the planet to serve as a consultant guide and language teacher. Many raised their eyebrows at her decision of putting former royalty in such a high position, but Elaina knew what she was doing. Amra is flourishing, in a sense. The people, while they are not happy, are productive and (for the most part) obedient and resigned that they are now part of the empire. They are allowed a surprising number of freedoms and rights, but the punishments for breaking the laws are far more harsh and any one who is caught so much as whispering against the Empire simply disappears. She has remained on Amra for the last three years, only leaving for brief periods of time to quell a rebellion or meet with the Emperor. She is completely loyal to Valkier and his Empire and carries out his orders without question. Those who don't admire and respect her, envy and despise Storming for her success at such a young age. Other: She does hold the Silver Eagle, Yankeirou. She is fluent in Xarian even though she has no idea what language it is. Yankeirou taught her when she was younger, but only told her it was a language that had belonged to a culture that had been long since forgotten. She does not know about the Xarian or the Keitosian blood that runs through her veins, since her mother kept their heritage a secret and she never actually knew her father. |

| spy_4_hire Joined: 14 Feb 2004 Posts: 568 | Posted: Wed Feb 01, 2006 8:34 pm Ok, remember how I said Elaina wasn't totally tiershaian, or whatever. well, I've been trying to figure out what she is and here's an idea I cam up with and I just want an opinion: her mother was actually half xarian, and her father was keitosian (or at least half or something).
"Ok how does that work?" you ask. no they didn't fall in love or anything mushy like that 'cause Elaina is the result of a rape. "why doesn't elaina know she's part xariran?" Why would her mother tell her? It's kind of dangerous to be a Xarian at the moment. "Why doesn't she know she part Keitosian?" Elaina saw her father 3 times. 1: the night he killed her mother. 2: In court when she testified against him. 3: When she watched him hang from the gallows. let me know what y'all think, and if you guys have any ideas, I welcome them!! |

After all, the dragons travelled far and wide to seek knowledge back in the ancient days of yore, and the Xarians *did* have space travel technology for a long time.. (okay, well it was magic, but that counts too :P) I think it is very possible that there could be some full-blooded Xarians somewhere out there, under the pale moonlight, but they probably wouldn't know much about their heritage, even less about magic, and nothing about the creatures.
In otherwords, I vote yes. Dan would have to approve the keitosian-rape thing, but it sounds quite plausible to me. |

I'd have to check with Dan on this one, but I think we decided that no one knows they have them. It is possible he just pretended to be a statue or something, but also seeing as she is part Xarian, maybe he would reveal himself to her. Again, I have to check with Dan on this one. I still like this character, but I wonder if Arkus would notice your Xarian/Keitosian features, with her being 3/4 non-human. ~Re-Approved? :D |

Anyway, I also still love this character. I actually agree with your idea on how he comforts her in her dreams and such. While she doesn't know how to summon him, considering her past I think he would definitely deem it a good idea to talk to her -- especially considering her heritage. That incident where her father came back and brutally killed her mother would have been a perfect time for him to reveal himself, but he might have thought her not ready. That could be why he appeared in dreams. So yeah, I have no problems with it :) |

Pretty much, I realized it was silly to have a race that evil and not have rapist among them. He'd be reviled by the entire culture - because it removed purity of breed. However, I don't think you should change it, because I don't think a single person would miss the physical characteristics that would be essentially Xarian. And given the relatively unknown Keitosian race, Storming would be under constant assault from her underlings clamoring to have her canned. Just something I thought out... |
