Name: Rokky Rhode
Age: 28
Occupation: First mate of the Wessel
Alliance: His captain. Whatever she says goes.

Description:
Initially, Rokky comes off as, what women commonly refer to as, the "strong silent type." Jealous, insignificant, wormy, insecure, little men, who are better off if they keep they're mouth shut around him, may scoff and call him slow.

The fact of the matter is, if there ain't nothin' for him to say, he ain't gonna talk. More often than not, he deems that there really is not any one worth talking to or he is just shy, and sometimes, he just does not have much to say. He doesn't like to talk about himself much, and unlike his captain who will outright tell a blatant lie or a half truth, he'll shrug or tell the inquirer to mind their business. He will not sling insults when throwing a punch is more than effective.

He is loyal to his friends and those that are in his care, almost to a fault. Women are held high in his opinion and they are, more often than not, pretty to look at and nice to hold, but he learned at a very young age that they are to be treated with respect. He acknowledges that many of them they are far cleverer than he will ever be, but he knows that they are not always the strongest creatures and he rarely hesitates to reach out to a girl in need. While he is generally a good-natured, easy-going fellar, he will not hesitate to slug a guy behaving ungentleman-like.

Rokky is a hard worker, and no one can say otherwise. He is resourceful and he is good at what he does, or he gets good at it real quick. He takes good care of his personal arsenal and makes sure that all of his guns are in working order. If he is not performing his duties as first mate or working out, he is sharpening a knife or cleaning his guns. He will break his back for his boss once they earn his respect. Of course he is well aware that all work and no play make Rokky a dull boy, and he does have a rather dry sarcastic humor. He likes to go out, drink some, stir up trouble and pick fights and pick up girls with the doctor.

While Rokky likes fooling around and having a good time, he is beginning to realize that it feels empty and he just does not enjoy it quite as much as he did as a younger man. It may have something to do with the fact that he is completely enamored with his captain. Her energy and vivacity attracts him like no other woman and he finds her stories of her life entertaining, even if she is anything but a credible source. However, her being his boss and married has dampened his hopes to ever get what he wants. He speaks of his feelings for Evie to no one, but they are obvious to anyone with eyes that see, except for the very object of his admiration.

Rocky is really tall, towering at about 6'4", and he is built for hard work and for beating people up. He has broad shoulders, and a muscular build which he maintains with a pretty regular workout, but not to the point that he is disgustingly muscular. His hazel eyes are often soft and warm, but he does have a glare that makes some men soil themselves before running off like dogs with their tails between their legs. His hair is blond, bleached from working in the sun, though time in space has given way to light brown roots and it’s shaggy and falls over his ears. He will probably never lose the tan he got from growing up and working in the fields. He has a sweet, breezy smile with straight and brilliant white teeth. He also has a southern drawl, and a slow way of speaking. His wardrobe consists of clothes that are ripped and patched with stains that will never come out. He is not a slob, he does his laundry regularly and his clothes are always clean, stained, but clean. He has his nicer clothes, but the worn ones are more comfortable. Rokky also has a thing for tattoos.

History:
Rokky was the only son out of six children from a well-to-do family that ran a famous bakery on Persephone. Many of the ingredients they used, they grew or raised on their own farm, and taken directly to the bakery to avoid having to buy them from someone else. As a boy and young man he not only worked to harvest the sugar cane and wheat, collect the eggs and milk the cows, but he also helped out with the family business. He received a good education as the family business became renown and well-respected. He did not care for school, and found it incredibly dull and pretty useless.

The boy grew into a young man, and much to his dismay, he found that everyday went on like the day before it and he found school tedious and work pretty boring. His life felt unfulfilled and he decided that he would travel and make something of himself. He did not get along well with his father, and they often buttheads when it came to work and school. He wanted to get off the farm, and off the planet and see different worlds, while his father wanted him to focus on the family business.

One night a petty argument escalated and ended with Rokky leaving with the clothes on his back and whatever money he had in his pockets. He ended up joining the Alliance and fought for them. He missed his mother and his sisters, and he wrote to them at first, but the war eventually consumed his life and the letters stopped. He remained a fairly low ranking soldier, usually turning down promotions when they were fired his way. He knew he was more of a follower, and he had no issues with that. Once the war ended he dragged himself back to Persephone to return home.

However, there was no home to return to. His father got cancer and died from it about a year after he left after a long hard battle. His sisters all married to fine men with fairly good fortunes, and with no one to help her run it, his mother sold the farm to developers. The bakery went under shortly afterward since it was too expensive to supply the store. His sisters placed her into a nursing home, where she grew senile over the years. He felt absolutely awful, but he remained with her until one morning he came to visit and he discovered she passed on in her sleep.

Then he left Persephone, never to return for more than a day or two when whatever ship he was on stopped there. He took whatever jobs he could to keep money in his pocket for food and booze. Most of the time his job was to stand behind the boss quietly and look intimidating, which he could do very well. His ethics often caused conflicts between his and his boss. One particular day, his boss decided to double-cross a lady and kill her and keep the money he owed. That did not sit well with Rokky at all. The young woman seemed new at the smuggling thing, and she obviously needed the money (the ship looked like it was ready to fall apart). He voiced his concerns, but his boss would not listen, so he shot him in the foot and threatened to shoot his other foot if he did not follow through his end of the bargain.

Later that evening, he realized he was unemployed again and he needed a drink. At the bar, that pretty lady found him and offered him a job as her first mate, which he took as soon as she bought him a round. He thought she was nuttier than a fruit bat at first, and her inconsistent stories annoyed him to no end, but he slowly got to know her, and he developed a great respect for her as a leader and a woman. Eventually, her stories became a bit more consistent and he found that he found her blatant lies pretty funny. Eventually he grew to adore her, but was dismayed to find that she was still married to her latest husband, and it just aint write to covet.
