"There is not much to say, really," Nenshoukaze said in a tone that almost contained sadness, though was laced generously with the sound of regret. "If I am correct, and I do hope I am not, the man you speak of was once my brother. His name is Kenji, and is vicious, unforgiving, uncaring. He used to be different, of course, but times change and so do people. His skill in close-quarters is amazing. His defense is nearly impenetrable, and he has a knack for stealing your weapon right out of your hands. It is truely horrific. "This change started when we were children; at the time, I was about five, still not quite old enough to pick up a sword. He had just learned to walk and talk. Things were good, great even, until one fateful night -- Many things start this way, don't they? I still don't know the reason, but our parents were murdered that night, my mom while still holding Kenji in her arms. They left me to die -- I had only a shallow wound in the chest and arm, but it was enough to bleed to death from. Kenji, well, they took him for themselves. "I heard that they trained him as an assassin. Too well, it seems, as I heard in the same story that he murdered their entire clan on his twelfth birthday." Nenshoukaze stopped there, picking up a mug of tea that had been delivered in the meantime and sipped at it. "By the way, friend, do you have any money?" he asked good-naturedly, a warm smile upon his face. |

For him, this was a veritable feast! He looked up at the one who was addressing him, the smile still upon his face.

"You're gonna pay me back for this someday..." he muttered under his breath. He picked up a bowl of rice and began to eat, as he had been unable to do so in the restaurant earlier. His red eyes flashed dangerously as he regarded Kaze. How could two brothers be so different? |

"Nevermind..." he said, somewhat exsasperated. He straightened up and dipped a piece of seaweed in soy and popped it in his mouth. ((using chopsticks, if that isn't clear...: P) |

He motioned with this chopstick hand at Asai's sword as he said, "Where did you learn kenjutsu?"

| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | Yuuki chewed his seaweed thoughtfully. When he swallowed, he answered Kaze's question.
"I was trained by the creator of my style, he's probably dead now, but he called it Sharinken-ryu. He based it on the idea that strike recovery time was the most important part of an attack, as well as it's speed." he said, putting his own hands behind his head. "He sort of found me, just a child, crawling along the road. I never knew my parents, see, and I ended up in the wild. He raised me and taught me his style...his first apprentice...and the second master. Once I mastered his skills, he sent me out on the road, and laid on me the responsibility of carrying on his techniques." He sighed. "Haven't found an apprentice worth teaching yet." he said softly. "I suspect his teachings will die with me..." |

Nenshoukaze asked interestedly, finishing his rice. His eyes grew slightly misty and distant, though he still focused on Yuuki's words. This man's story clearly reminded him of his own. "That's quite interesting! I had no idea you'd mastered your style of choice. I'm really quite interested in this style of yours... mind if we have a spar after our food settles?" |

"Indeed," Kaze agreed, removing a regular katana from the strange, cylindrical bag which he carried with him. "I shall use just this katana then." After saying this he set the sword down, sipping once more at his tea as the waitress came to collect payment. |
