He always thought it enjoyable to see people's faces and expressions when they learned that a standard katana was not the weapon he fought best with.
"Indeed," Kaze said, the same smile upon his face. "It is but a normal katana. It is close to me and we share a tight bond, but alas, she is not my weapon of choice." |

"Very well." he said, rising from his seat. "Shall we begin, then?" He moved one hand to the back door and bowed slightly. His red eyes shined with excitement; it had been a while since he had sparred at all. |
| Digithe Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 884 | Posted: Wed Aug 03, 2005 11:08 pm | Characters: All for this theme; By Digithe: This theme, Any theme Nenshoukaze continued smiling, his startingly red eyes portraying the flame of his spirit, just as excited as Yuuki to be sparring, without needing to fight in order to stay alive. With one hand he clutched the sheath of his katana, and with the other he grabbed the oblong bag he carried with him everywhere. He smiled and nodded appreciatively as he walked past his friend and out the door.
Outside, he leaned his cargo against the restaurant wall and slid the katana's sheath through the cloth of his belt, preparing for the fight. "I'm ready when you are, friend." |
| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | Following the other man out, Yuuki walked and stood opposite the strange...stranger and drew his own sword. Putting his hands close together just below the hilt, he raised the sword so the blade was pointing as his opponent and his hands were near his cheek*.

With his right hand, he reached around and grabbed the hilt, just below the guard, and pulled it from its home. The blade shined brightly in the sun; though eternally stained with blood it was clean for the moment. Kaze kept his left hand holding the sheath as he had a moment earlier, but lowered his right arm to his side. His elbow was bent only slightly, and his wrist was positioned so that the sword titled just slightly downwards.

| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | Yuuki moved forward, fast, and came at Kaze with a sort of diagonal chop that seemed to flow out of the previous stance like water. The sun flashed off of the shining blade, but no blood had tainted it's pureness. |

| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | With a small turn in that direction, Yuuki whipped his sword back around to block the slash, metal clanging on metal as the swords met. Then, leaping a foot backwards, Yuuki resumed his starting stance. |

Nenshoukaze moved rather slowly towards his opponent -- it could hardly even be considered "jogging" -- Then, when he was within two meters of him his figure became a blur as he flew past Yuuki. Kaze spun to his right, more than 360 degrees to raise up his right arm for a slash, gaining great momentum as he did so. |
| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | Yuuki whirled back around, bring his sword low to catch the strike. Breaking free, he moved back into his original stance, but then it was his turn to rush forward. Moving at an incredible rate of speed, Yuuki took a hand off his sword and swung across. |

He placed his left hand on the ground for support, then used the momentum from his spin to slash vertically at Yuuki's arm. |
| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | Yuuki moved his arm fast, and it seemed to blur with motion. The sword shot past his arm as it moved out of the way Yuuki grinned, but then he noticed a small cut in the hem of his sleeve. Surprised, he looked a Kaze and grinned again.
"Time to start moving..." he said, leaping back again. This time, however, he sheathed his sword and planted his right foot forward. With one hand on the sheath and the other hovering by the hilt, his blood red eyes fixed Kaze's as he waited. |
| Digithe Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 884 | Posted: Thu Aug 04, 2005 12:22 am | Characters: All for this theme; By Digithe: This theme, Any theme Kaze continued his spinning, shifting his weight so that his center of gravity was once more above his feet instead of lateral from it as he did so. He looked now with interest at his opponent, who was now clearly preparing to preform a battoujutsu. Kaze knew the stance well; he used it himself a great deal. He was curious that his opponent was using such a thing in a duel, as a slight mistake on either's part would likely mean instant death. Although tempted to counter with a battoujutsu of his own, he didn't wish to injure this man. Indeed, however, it was time to get moving.
Kaze's eyes narrowed as he focused on every twitch of every muscle in Yuuki's body. He raised his sword up and held it with two hands to make ready for his opponent's attack. He readied himself to move, preparing, if need be, to use as much as thirty-five or fourty percent of his max speed. He raised his eyebrows for a just a moment, as though saying to Yuuki, "Lets do this." |
