OOC: oh please, he's not yoda >_<

Falcone crossed his arms, absorbing the conversation carefully. Zenjirou also remained silent, simply nodding to his eagle friend. As Xaria had been a generally peaceful planet, and they had not dealt with external affairs, the young King had not experienced much warfare, and there was no time like the present to learn. Luckily he had plenty of help -- Hawkes was a battle-proven leader who could be counted on, and Zenjirou -- as well as Kenjirou and Zaikeirou were extremely wise, having seen much strife and conflict in their innumerable years.

"If it is a wyvern," said Falcone in plain common, so that those who didn't understand it might participate in the conversation as well, "then we must tread lightly. Even without the baggage of defending others I would probably not be able to take one alone -- they are notoriously agressive and blood-thirsty. While it is true that we combined are a great force, having many of the wisest of all Xarian creatures with us, only half of us have had formal training in combat with the aid of our wise elders. Perhaps the best chance we have is to draw him off and weaken him as best as we can, then activate the cloaking device for as long as it will hold, and bolt back to a safe haven.

"It is clear that we must immediately start training all those who can summon the Mystic Creatures should be trained formally in as many Xarian arts as is possible. But for now, we must escape this danger. I submit that fighting should be a last alternative, but we should not be unprepared for it. Are we in agreement?

OOC: Officially, I have named the golden eagle to be Zaikeirou. Kristin's silver dragon shall be Kenjirou

OOC:Dan- If you want, Xenos can be Xenos (insert prefix)rou to fit in with the rest... XD; Sorry, I should have asked you before naming him... >_<

"Even if this man has a bad creature as his partner," Stahlflugel said, "Maybe it's because he was the only one powerful enough to control it? Maybe he didn't want to pair up with the wyvern?"
I desperately want to believe he's innocent... Something's making me believe in him. Even if I do get betrayed, I truly want to believe in him.

"But I don't trust him enough to let him on the ship, I'm not that dense! I just don't think he's a threat at the moment. However, he may be if we engage him in battle."

Akari nodded in agreement with Melia, thankful that she and her husband had gone along with her idea. Leaning against the frame of the door, she glanced over towards Hawke's out of the corner of her eye. "So I think it's decided then, is it not?", she said flatly, crossing her arms over her chest. The Xarian queen closed her eyes and sighed, resting her head against the cold metal wall behind her. Within the confines of her mind, a small, silver light appeared.

"We are wise to avoid any confrontation with that wyvern, young one.", said Kenjirou, talking to the Queen in archaic Xarian, of which she was weak in. Frustrated, Akari replied "You would be wise to speak to me in a form of speach that I can readily understand, Kenjirou.". She could hear the dragon chuckling in the back of her mind. "If only you had payed attention during class, Akari." The great dragon paused in its speach, then restarting again, its tone full of worry and discomfort. "Beware, Akari. Though this foe may appear to be friendly and harmless, he is most certainly the opposite. Strive to avoid pointless bloodshed, but keep him away from the rebel base at all costs. The future of you and the King's development depends upon it."

The dragon had finally finished talking and, though Akari had difficulty distinguishing certain words, she understood what Kenjirou had been getting at. Nodding to herself, Akari opened her eyes again, a smug grin on her face. She turned her face to the side, glancing up at the happy-go-lucky man upon the screen. "I may not be great at archaic Xarian...", she began, "But I know I liar when I see one."

OOC:i thought i turned da screen off? oh well...

"Four!" came a sibilant hiss in Arkus' ear. "There are four creatures of good, including the great dragon himself!" Arkus avoided smacking his palm into his face, but he barely managed to keep his face locked in the smile it customarily wore.

"Jeezuz, mate!" he hissed in Keitosian from the corner of his mouth, "What did I tell you about keeping your thoughts silent? If you can sense them, don't you think it could work the other way around??" Melseme's greatest fault, Arkus decided, was his inability to keep silent at crucial points. Melseme realized the danger, but his own evils could not be masked. They were on to him.

"Damn, mate..." he muttered, his projection screen still black. "I think they might suspect something..."

***

Hawkes nodded his agreement.

"In that case," he said, "Where should we begin? We don't know what kind of weaponry he has..."

"Hell, we should go RIGHT now. The longer he sits there, the more suspicious he'll get. We should get people to man all the cannons... we have cannons, right? And please say there's more ammo, because Station 4's down..." All of Melia's thoughts came out in one giant blurt, most likely because she was still tired.
"Y'know, we cover our ass while we make our grand exit. However, this approach will only work if we can outmaneuver him... I doubt we're faster."

I must not have slept that long if I'm this worn out, she thought.

"This IS the fastest ship we got, but it won't mean squat if he pops a few rounds before we move." Hawkes said, sitting in his seat and idly pressing a few buttons on the control panel. A screen opened up on the projector and displayed the ship's condition.

"We didn't take much damage from the other ships, but we are short a gun. I can drive, and hopefully you can shoot. The real problem lies in the fact that I can't get a bead on that ship. He could have some kind of jammer or containment weapon that would stop us from blasting away. The question is, what do I tell this bloke?"

Elaina Storming landed her ship easily into the docking bay, and waited for the cockpit to open. She took off her helmet, and freed her ebony braid from its bun so it could reach its full length. She stepped out of the small ship and jumped down to the steel floor. She stepped out of her travel suit to reveal her usual neat uniform. Storming looked down at herself and sighed as she wished she had time to change into her proper uniform. However her orders were to report to the Emperor immediately, so she would have to go in pants instead of the skirt. A lower ranking officer helped her into her coat, and Elaina walked out of the docking bay at a brisk pace. Her icy blue eyes danced as she fondly looked around at her familiar surroundings.

Storming footsteps echoed in the steel hallway, and she heard officers murmur to each other as she passed. It was good to be back. Quelling the revolt took a little longer than she thought, but in the end the Empire succeeded in sending their dreams of "independence" into oblivion. She lost a grand total of twenty-five men, most of who were, coincidentally, officers she did not care for anyway. Unfortunately, for the rebels, hundreds of men, women and children who were part of the rebellion died. She did not feel sorry for any of the men and women who died, but the deaths of the children gnawed at her mind. She felt disgusted with the Hundorians for hiding behind the lives of their children, hoping that the Empire would spare the innocent, but resistance to the Empire was not tolerated. The leaders of the rebellions were captured, and then they were tried and executed publicly for treason. Another success for the Emperor! A rat-like man interrupted her thought when he met her in the halls, and began walking with her.

“General,” he greeted her. “It’s good to see you again. I heard the revolt in the Hundorian System-”

“Has been squashed. Yes, it’s true” Elaina interrupted with a small, satisfied smirk. “It’s good to be back, Agent Silk,” she said coolly as she buttoned up her coat and continued to walk without lessening her pace. Poor Silk needed to jog to keep up with her. “Update,” she commanded. She listened carefully to Silk as he filled her in on everything that had happened since she left. Her facial expression was void of emotion and revealed none of her thought as she listened, but she was not pleased with what she was hearing. Silk and Elaina paused when they the door. “Thank you, Silk. You’re dismissed.” Silk nodded, and saluted her, Elaina glanced away for a moment and the ratty man had disappeared.

Bounty hunters, she thought with disgust. What next? She checked her uniform one more time before she knocked softly on the door.

"I have an idea," Melia smiled evilly, "And it involves my necklace."

She held the pendant up, and the ancient amber glowed.

"You see, it's a universal translator. Maybe if I trick him into thinking I'm from his planet we can find out something? The only info I'd need... is where he's from."

Stahlflugel swung the necklace absentmindedly, waiting for an answer.

"I think it's worth a try. Maybe, if we're lucky, he'll forget and curse in his own language! Then we won't even have to ask."

Valkier heard the knocking coming from his door. Unlike most raps on his door, this one seemed slightly less timid, a little bolder than the usual rabble who reported to tell him more and more bad news. Was General Glaive back from the Glizara Campaign? Impossible, and besides, Glaive never knocked, ever.

"Door Command," Valkier muttered. A small glowing, but blank, panel materialized before his face. "Open"

Silently, the door complied allowing a certain someone to enter. Of course, whoever it was would be walking into a dark room; the only illumination came from a holographic fireplace situated before Valkier's throne-like armchair.

"Enter, and there better be good news coming with you" Valkier growled.

Elaina was not intimadated at all by Valkiers gruff tone. She had grown accostomed to it by then. “I know it’s been a while, Majesty,” Storming said politely with a small amount of melancholy mixed in with it as she made her way boldly, yet respectfully into the room. “But I didn’t think you’d forget me completely.” She walked into the light in front of the Emperor and saluted him.

“General Storming, reporting, Sire” she said formally and she stood at attention. “And as you wished, I have brought good news. The Hundorian rebellion has been eliminated, and the ring leaders have been terminated. We suffered little damage and lost on 25 of your men and 5 small ships in our fleet of 60. The Hundorian leader sends his deepest apologies,” she said as she handed him the disk which contained the hologram of the Hundorian puppet ruler. “And a large tribute to pay for the cost of the inconvenience is on the way, as well, with his highest regards, of course.” Storming’s tiny smirk returned as she remembered how she squeezed every last penny she could from the fat dullard. He tried to be extremely cheap, but Elaina wouldn’t allow it. Then her expression was emotionless once more. Her alabaster skin almost glowed in the small amount as she silently waited for her Emperor to answer.

Valkier contemplated the tiny disc, slowly turning it over in his hands while the fake fire reflected off of its surface. Then, he tossed it in a random direction, hopefully the direction of his bed. He did not care for the puppet rulers. He saw them as necessary but definitely not desirable. He could see why the rebels wanted him dead. He should really get actors to serve as puppets.

"Elaina, drop the stone-face act, I find it annoying," Valkier grinned. "It's no wonder God refuses to talk to people anymore. Everyone puts on that stupid act of extremist reverance. At worst they start speeking with 'thee' and 'thy'. So, on a lighter note, how have you been?"

"Without a doubt," Zenjirou answered in his rusty common, "that man is Keitosian. The only race wicked enough to ensnare a wyvern, not to mention enjoy its company." Falcone nodded, trusting the wise old dragon.

"Still," the Xarian said, "even if it can translate it properly, surely he will question the sudden appearance of one of his own on this vessel; he knows that we Xarians are aboard, I have no doubt of that. He is very likely to question the presence of a Keitosian. Our two races are, if I'm not mistaken, polar opposites." Falcone paused, his head tilted down and his hand upon his chin in thought. "I've few better ideas, however. If nothing else, perhaps it will confuse him enough to let us get out of range."

Crossing her arms over her chest, Akari nodded in agreement to her husband's words. "Falcone's right; there isn't much else that we can do. For now, we'll give Melia's plan a try; it can't hurt... too much." She leaned up from her place against the wall and patted Melia on the back lightly, gently pushing her towards the bridge of the ship. The Xarian queen started ahead of the girl and came up to Hawkes' side, glancing up at the screen in the corner of her eye.

"We should probably keep some of the soldier's at the helm, as well as at some of the guns, just in case things go awry.." Akari gave a quick glimpse up at the screen and looked at the boy. He was young and handsome, yet there was something completely fake about his happy disposition. Folding her arms once more, the Queen turned to Melia and frowned, taking her part in the little scheme.

"C'mon, Keitosian; get over here."

If he smiled for real, instead of that hollow smile, I think he'd look better, Melia thought, chewing her lower lip a bit.

She put her necklace underneath her shirt, and stepped in front if the screen.
"<Hey, Arkus! Haven't seen or heard much about your adventures since I left the Homeworld. What've you been up to?>" She smiled coyly. This better work, or I dunno what in the Luddamn universe will.

Arkus joyfully noted the opening of his communication screen, but raised one eyebrow at this stranger obviously speaking his language. Arkus grinned again, picking up two almost unnotable slips. The first slip was the grammar. She may have been speaking his language, but the pattern of her speech was slightly awkward in the natural Keitosian tongue. The second slip was something only Arkus would have noticed: if she really was of his planet, she would have remembered that he was the direct descendent of Kierkan Rufo, and therefore the Crown Prince of Keitos.

"<I've been doing well, thank you.>" he said, deciding to play along, thought he realized if they could duplicate his language the Xarians knew he was no friend. "<Strange to find another out in the middle of nowhere. How's Crion, the king? And his son?>" Arkus knew he'd have to attack soon, he was running out of options.
