Then, he bent down to yank the sword from the flooring, check it over to make sure everything was still in working condition (an utterly wasted effort; he made the sword and knew that it would not break so easily), and handed it back to his general.
"Alright, now get down to the docks, already," he commanded. "The mission is on. Don't disapoint me" With a sharp nod, Valkier dismissed Elaina and turned back to his path towards the bridge. He marched, resolute that he would not give way to pain in his chest; a shock-propelled general was hard to catch. Before turning from the corridor, Valkier looked back in slight concern. "Make sure the blade is activated before using it. You'll find the trigger; it's in the pommel. Now go!" |

The Emperor's rather blunt behavior did not bother Elaina at all. In fact, she had grown accostomed to it in the time she had known him. Her expression was slightly amused as she watched him leave for a moment and then she turned to go to the docks. However, his voice caused her to immediately turn about face. The general was a bit surprised by Valkier's concern. "No worries, Majesty," she nodded with a small reassuring smile, and saluted him. "I'll remember." The general, pivoted on her heel and disappeared down a different corridor that led to the docks. She secured the sword to her belt as she walked briskly down to the docks. Her neck was sore from whiplash, which is why the young general hated jumping in large ships, like the Naga. She rubbed her neck to relieve some of the pain when she was sure she was alone. Finally, she arrived at the docks. |

I'm fine, of course, he responded jovially. As usual, his mannerisms were quite inappropriate for the gravity of the situation. The strange darkness that was all around the three was not entirely unfamiliar to the Xarian. In fact, he was quickly reminded of his brief skirmish with Valkier many years prior -- back when Xaria still existed. He had not been fooled by such a trick then, and he certainly wasn't about to be fooled this time.
If you didn't already figure it out, Falcone reminded his wife, it's best to close your eyes and sense out his life-force. The evil energy from his Wyvern is fairly obvious. |

He seemed a bit apprehensive, which was strange from her rat-like friend. “Something strange is afoot,” he said softly as she walked toward the ship. The general and her strike team were to man a small ship, The Pegasus, one of her favorites, with all the latest cloaking devices, and one of the quietest engines in the fleet. It was easily manned by one person, but it could hold up to seven occupants comfortably.
“What seems to be the trouble?” Elaina asked in an almost bored tone. “A strange cloud appeared out of nowhere around the Xarians, and the Keitosian,” Sik explained. “They can’t be seen any longer.” “This concerns me because…?” Elaina’s eyes flashed dangerously, and she looked at him through narrowed eyes. Her mission was supposed to remain secret. “Well, it’s simply not natural,” he replied stubbornly. “I know your team is supposed to infiltrate the enemies’ ship. I simply wanted to caution you. These people are trouble.” “Your concern is frivolous, my friend,” Elaina rolled her eyes, and then smiled slightly. “But touching, I’ll be fine.” “You better,” he grumbled as the stopped by The Pegasus’ hatch. “If you don’t come back, I lose 600 credits.” Elaina rolled her eyes and gave a mock sigh. “I knew there was something strange about you concern. I’ll better get half that money when I come back or I will report you.” She winked and boarded the ship. They both knew the threat was empty, and that Silk could easily ruin her career if he chose, and vice versa, so they had a sort of unspoken agreement to keep silence. The general’s ice blue eyes scanned about the small circular area for passengers, it had fallen silent as she entered. Taurus sat on the bench that was attached to the wall, and glared at her silently while his hands deftly cleaned a larger than-life-gun. Leo sat next to him with his arms still crossed as he stared into space; his gold eyes were as thoughtful as ever. The twins and Sagittarius stood around a small table in the middle, and had been looking at a small hologram of a ship. “It’s about time,” grumbled the muscle man. Elaina ignored him, and instead walked to the center table. “Is this the Xarian ship?” she asked, examining the hologram. “You are correct!” cheered one Gemini. “We believe it the computer core is located here,” said the other pointing to a certain part of the ship. “That is to say we are only 98.6% sure,” the first continued. “Close enough,” Elaina said, not taking her eyes of the virtual model. “We’ll land a good distance away from the ship. One of you will stay with the ship, and the rest of you will come with me. Taurus, you will stay-“ “Why do I have to baby-sit the ship??” boomed Taurus. “Fine, if you’re going to be a big baby over it,” Elaina sighed in annoyance. “Leo will stay with the ship. Any issues?” No one answered. “Gemini will come with me to infiltrate the ship. Taurus and Sagittarius, you will be placed here, and here.” She pointed to two different points outside the ship. “I will need you to cause a distraction in case our presence is detected. No one needs to die on either side, and I would prefer it if the rebels never knew we were here.” “What about theses Xarians I’ve heard talk about?” Leo said in a soft baritone. “They’re supposed to be some kind of magic being. If you run into them, you could be in trouble.” “Magic? Are you going to believe every tale you’re told, Leo?” Elaina smirked. “They are being… entertained at the moment. I’m fairly sure they’ll be too busy to notice any of us. Any other questions?” No answer. “Very well. Everyone knows their assignments. Let’s get going.” She went into the cock pit and sat in the pilot’s seat, brought out the key card and slipped it into the ignition. The engine hummed softly as it warmed up, after a moment she called over her shoulder. “You better buckle your seatbelts, gentlemen.” The Pegasus easily lifted off the runway and as soon as they were cleared Elaina opened the thrusters and sped off toward the planet. She would have to go the long way around the planet in order to sneak up on the others, so it would take a good 15 minutes because jumping the distance could be detected. OOC:Please pardon the book. ^^; |

"The queen is the most important piece in the game, and without it the king is powerless..." he muttered under his breath, for all the good it did in the noiseless bubble. *** Hawkes, who, after the Xarians had left to fight the Keitosian, had gone to the roof of his spacecraft to watch, was confounded by the region of darkness where the combatants stood. "What in the hell?" he said quietly, watching intently. It was at that moment that a indicator on his comlink went off. He examined it for a minute before he remembered it was his remote radar device he'd installed some time ago, in case he was away from his ship's computer. Every few minutes or so, the ships radar would send a signal into the surrounding space area, especially if the ship was on a planet. If it found anything unusual, it would sent it to his comlink. What he saw was not good at all. There was an entire fleet dropping out of warp in the general vicinity of this planet. All Tiershaan. "DAMN!" he yelled, now trying to raise the Amran on her own comlink. |

Stahlflugel woke up when her comlink crackled. "DAMN! An entire fleet's dropped out of warp! All Tiershaan," said Hawkes through the comlink. Melia slapped herself on the forehead, then pressed the button to talk to Hawkes. "Hump it, I knew I felt something. Ever since I met Xenos, I gained this weird... sonar. I don't know how to explain it." She wiped her forehead. "Anyways, Akari and Falcone are occupied at the moment, we'll have to deal with the visitors. Do you know how many there are, or where they'll come in, over." OOC:WHOOT ACTIVITY :O |

Taking her husband's advice to heart, she sensed the energy of the Keitosian closing in on her quickly from above. Without a second's hesitation, she spun around and blocked his attack with her own weapon, smirking when she saw, in her mind, the outline of the boy formed by his energy. "Nice try," he would have heard her say, were hearing possible.
The Queen pushed forward with all her might, and brought her blade about in a horizontal attack, aiming for his waist and his vital organs. |

Their presence would still be unknown because of the cloaking devices, but all that technology was useless if someone saw them. The ship was completely hidden from view, unless of course some one stood on the ridge and looked into the pit. The twins popped their heads into the cockpit and glanced at the radar.
“Wow, Captain,” said one. “Either the equipment is out of whack,” continued the other. “Or were practically half a mile away from the other ship!” finished the first, and then they laughed in unison. Elaina stood up and walked past them into the passenger area. “There is nothing wrong with the equipment, Gemini. We are a little more than a half a mile from our target.” He turned her head slightly, and her icy eyes bore into them. “We’ll be walking the rest of the way to avoid detection.” “Walk?!” Gemini’s mouths dropped. Elaina ignored them as she took off her coat, folded it neatly and placed it on the bench. The uniform screamed ”˜I’m a general!! I’m important!! Shoot me first!!” and it would be best to let them think she was just an agent. Hopefully, they wouldn’t run into anyone. The holster was covered by her vest, and in the concealed inside pocket on the right, Yankeirou’s statuette rested comfortably. She checked her two 6-shot revolvers and slipped them into the holsters on her belt. “How are we getting in?” Gemini asked. “There appears to be a small closet near the computer core. We’ll be coming in through there,” Elaina said simply, and she opened the door. “Taurus, Sagittarius, Gemini, let’s move out. We must assume that time is moving against us. It’s only half a mile, you’ll live, Gemini. Leo, you have your orders; stay here, but if we run into trouble I’ll contact you.” She jumped from the ship and landed lightly on the dusty barren land. Then she carefully picked her way out of the crater. She could hear the other four follow her, and she paused at the top to wait for them. When the others caught up to her she handed Taurus, Sagittarius, and just one Gemini a black cube that fit comfortably in the palm of a hand. There was a button on three different sides of the cube, each button was a different color, and on a fourth side, there was a small speaker. “They’re comcubes,” Elaina explained. “It’s really quite simple. If you want to talk to me, push and hold the green button, blue is vibrate if you want my attention but it’s not all that urgent. Red is the panic button. Only to be used for emergencies.” She glared at the twins. “What if we want to talk to each other?” asked Sagittarius as he examined the cube. “You can’t,” Elaina shrugged. “All your messages will have to go through me first. We’re wasting time. Let’s get going.” She then started off toward the other ship. The landscape was thick with large boulders, making it easy to stay concealed. They reached the Xarians ship with out a problem and in good time. The general motioned for the others to stop, and stay down while she peeked over a ridge. There appeared to be someone on the roof. Elaina frowned slightly at the unexpected inconvenience. He appeared to be occupied because he was yelling something, but she didn’t want to risk the mission. She motioned to the others that they were to wait until further instruction, and she returned to her surveillance. She was thankful for her ebony hair and how the top of her head could easily merge with the surroundings. Now she had to wait perfectly still until the coast was clear. OOC:Ugh… another book!! I’m sorry!!!! I blame it on the other 4 characters Elaina is dragging with her. |

"Do you see anyone? Can you get in the ship now, please? I have this sinking feeling I shouldn't be in here alone... Over."
It seems all I ever do is wait, Melia thought, tapping her fingers on the dashboard. Xenos appeared from nowhere and started to swim around lazily. Melia felt a little better, a little more courageous. "Kamil always used to tease me, saying, 'Jaa-mara, you're so wimpy,' with that easy grin of his. Luddamn, everything was always so easy for him, his name fits him." Melia sighed. "I wish I could be like older brother--minerologist, doctor, general... I wonder what happened to him." OOC:The name Kamil = "perfect" D:

"Do...you feel?" he asked. "Another, it is!" Hawkes looked blankly at the golden eagle on his shoulder. "Huh?" he said intelligently. "Out there...there is an another entity...another eagle..." "Oh...kinda like family." The eagle just shrugged. "Well, something's out there," Hawkes said, this time into his comlink. "And it's packing Xarian magic in Eagle form." *** Arkus quickly spun around the blade, using his superior inate sense to reach out to where he believe the Queen's wrist to be and the point of his blade towards her throat. |

What's wrong? she thought to him in his native tongue. Our prescence is known, he replied. Elaina frowned. This was becoming complicated, and she blamed that pest on the roof of the ship. Our location? she asked fearing for the safety of her men and the success of the mission. No, the eagle answered. Elaina frowned deepened, and she thought for a moment before she slowly descended to where her team was waiting anxiously. She motioned to Sagittarius and Taurus that they were to move to their positions as quickly as possible with out being seen, and remain hidden until she gave the order to do otherwise. Gemini would remain with her. The men nodded that they understood, so Elaina gave them the signal for the other two to leave, and they slunk off into the darkness. Elaina returned to her vigil, and gazed grimly at the figure on the roof. If that rebel didn’t remove himself, she would. She refused to allow an inconvenience jeopardize the mission. |
| Vern_5 Joined: 31 May 2005 Posts: 212 | Valkier stood at the helm, the pilot's chair to be exact. Although he was not directing the ship, he liked to feel in control of the situation. Valkier was uneasy now. Down on that little rock was his handpicked team of killers and saboteurs. And then there was Elaina; he would rather not have anything happen to her, not if he had a choice. She was...too valuable to his cause.
Valkier slumped back in the chair with a sigh. This had to go right. It would go right, no matter how many people died, no matter if he had to blow the damn rock, the one that supported the last of a dead race, to hell and beyond. Causing little commotion, Valkier dismissed a small brigade of medium frigates and fighters to combat a small force of rebels following their subs-space wake. They did not need to know about anything going on in this pocket of space. |

She put a hand on her forehead. "Also, it's not a good sign that a ship's missing... I think they parked it on the other side of the planet, so they could sneak around. They want something, or someone on this ship." "You really need to get in here, Hawkes, we're more vulnerable separated. They could snipe you, or sneak up and overpower me." Melia laughed nervously. "And besides, there is the matter of the bounty on my head... It's much smaller than the Xarians', but money is money." The time that passed until Hawkes spoke seemed like forever. Stahlflugel was afraid for the both of them. OOC:AHAH PHEAR MY FLUGEL ENGRISH :D |

"Activate all defensive systems, I don't want anything near my ship that isn't Xarian!" he yelled as he made his way toward the main computer system. OOC:happy now? |

Elaina narrowed her eyes and watched the figure disappear through a hatch. She waited a few moments, sighed, and looked over her shoulder to the twins to give them the signal to follow her. The three of them stayed close together as they swiftly crossed the distance between the hill and the ship until they were underneathe it. The general gave Gemini a moment to catch their breath. "Well," she breathed. "Do you know where you have to go?" The twins looked around and nodded after a few moments and led her to a different spot in the ship and pointed up. "This should be the storage closet you pointed out earlier," said one, his volume was barely a whipser. "The main core is just around the corner," finished the other. Elaina tenatively placed her finger tips against the bottom of the ship, and when she wasn't zapped and no alarm seemed to have gone off, she pressed her ear against the cool surface, closed her eyes and listened for any footsteps. OOC:I'm just kidding Boots. You did a splendid job. ^^ |
