"Damn..." he muttered, his fingers flying across the control panel. "We're stuck, but he's not charging weapons. That means he wants to board. Which means were screwed." Zaikeirou flew to Hawkes hand and folded his wings, turning to blade form. "I don't think we have many choices left now..." he said, a blade of pure energy appearing from the golden eagle. *** Arkus was similarly making preparations for battle. His ship was now keeping the smaller vessel locked in place with a stasis beam, but he also had auto pilot on in case the other ship broke free of his jammer. He strapped on all eight of his revolvers and his Keitosian blade. Donning his fedora, he extended his hand and called out to his drake companion. "Come on, mate," he said as the wyvern left it's perch on the pilot's chair and flew to Arkus' shoulder. "It's time for that fight you so wanted." Arkus stepped into the airlock chamber as Melseme created a vacuum proof barrier, which would allow him to survive in space. He was then ejected from the airlock towards the smaller ship, slamming through the side at one point. As soon as he passed through the hull, he felt a vacuum try to pull him back into space, but the emergency breach barrier closed off the hole he had created. Melseme dispelled the barrier, and Arkus began his hunt as he worked his way to the bridge. *** "Hull Breach?" Hawkes asked, checking the screens. A moment ago, all pressure had dropped to zero and then recovered when the emergency barrier came into place in the cell bay. "But if he didn't fire..." Hawkes paused to consider this. "Did he send a probe? Or..." He stopped, his face paling. "If his wyvern is as powerful as our creatures, he could have created the same kind of barrier Zenjirou enacted to protect you from the vacuum of space," he said to Falcone. "Vendetta!" he yelled, "Screw the guns, he's already on board!" |

Melia got up, and the strange calm washed over her again. Her ribs stopped hurting, and she felt refreshed. Her muscles loosened like she had just stepped into a warm bath. She streached and danced, re-creating fights with her brothers. She called for Xenos, and he reappeared in statue form, golden scimitar sprouting from his mouth. "<What is it now?>" He moaned, slipping into Ancient Xarian. "<It is for real this time,>" said Melia simply. He knew what she meant. "<As crazy as it may seem, you pick up techniques rather easily.>" Melia chuckled. Could everything Xenos say be taken as a compliment or an insult? "<I grew up with my dad and two brothers. Hell, all we did was fight! Not much else to do in Tel Gaara for kids, it being a flat wasteland. My brothers were in the army, and taught me how to fight like a Sindhian.>" She heard Hawkes' distressed cry. Melia wasn't so worried. "Eh, it's inevitable," she said, shrugging. "But, I want to greet him first." Melia skipped out into the hallway, smiling. She waved goodbye as she trotted off to find Arkus. "If I don't come back, you can put the keg on my coffin." OOC:1. "Eh, it's inevitable." Amrans as a whole are way more comfortable with death than most. Especially Sindh. Self-pity and selfishness are considered extremely bad traits.
...Melia also implied, 'I'd rather surprise him than be surprised.' 2. Sindhian Fighting- the style is very fluid, like ballet crossed with Voldo's style from SC II. Lots of spinning, twirling, and hopping. 3. "Put the Keg on My Coffin." Surprisingly, another Push Stars song. XD; The chorus: "Put the keg on my coffin/ and think of me every so often/ have a loser's day parade for all my friends. Drink up life like a river/ till the pizza man delivers/ smile and know I loved you till the end." |

"Emperor," a voice came from the blank screen. "Tracker?" he responded. "Sir, we have something of a problem with Arkus' expedition" "What now?" Valkier groaned. "Give me a visual" A loading screen replaced the blank leaf and began charging at a moderate pace, too slow for Valkier's patience, but it was a message being shot to him from halfway across the galaxy, he had to expect the lag. Finally, the screen finished loading and the image formed onscreen. What he saw was somewhat fascinating. There were two ships at each other's sides with a stasis beam dragging the other one in close. Upon closer examination, though, Valkier recognized a familiar form, seemingly, walking the gap between the ships. "Good job, Arkus. Way to get in over your head," Valkier frowned. "Hmm... I'll give the order to the fleet to prepare a jump. Just keep a low profile and make sure to inform me if Arkus gets killed or the Xarians get away" "Will do, Emperor" the Tracker saluted and the screen faded from existence. Valkier sighed. This was not going to end well but he must keep patience and wait until the worst happens. "Activate call screen: locate General Storming. She needs to prep the squad" Valkier commanded. "Activate secondary call screen: contact the Bridge. Prepare to move the ship, we're going to be supervising this campaign." [quote:50def8cf57]Those screens are holographic image panels. In her hand, she held a picture of a man with a blond ponytail, and a cocky smile. Arkus Rufo the bounty hunter who was unknowingly helping her to locate the Xarian pests. She lazily tossed the picture on the desk away from the other five.
He isn’t part of my team, and I doubt we will ever meet, so why should I read his file thoroughly? she thought as she stood up with a yawn. She smiled to herself and gave a little laugh as she walked over to her bed. My team… Elaina had taken her pants off, and was in the middle of unbuttoning her shirt when she heard a voice behind her. She squeaked and jumped in surprise. “General Storming,” said the voice. “The Emperor wishes to speak with you. I am connecting you now.” “What the he- NO! WAIT!!” Elaina shouted desperately, but it was too late. The holographic image of Valkier had already appeared. All the color drained from the general’s face, and she simply froze, like a dear in the headlights. Then her cheeks began to burn as she blushed furiously, and she tried to button her shirt up quickly. “M-Majesty,” she stammered, as her fingers fumbled with the buttons. Her heart was pounding in her chest. “I-I- you surprised me… I wasn’t expecting you. I apologize for my… lack of uniform.” She turned away from the screen, and took a few deep breaths. This had to be the most humiliating moment of her career. She buttoned her shirt up the rest of the way before she turned back to the Emperor. “May I help you?” she asked as calmly as she could, but her voice still shook slightly. Her blue eyes were focused on the floor, and her cheeks were bright red as she clutched her hands behind her back, and her stomach was doing flip-flops. She was thankful for the length of the shirt; it fell about half-way down her thighs. |

They were clearly getting in deeper than they were capable of escaping from. A diplomatic approach was now obviously out of the question, and while the Xarian feared a forceful solution would somehow end in tragedy he sensed few other choices. The only possible alternative was to try and convince this Arkus to switch his allegiances, but that was fairly well out of the realms of likeliness. He nodded silently to Zenjirou who understood immediately, flying into his awaiting hand and solidifying into a hilt.
"Our options seem extremely limited," the king said gravelyl. "We do, however, have an advantage in that we outnumber him greatly. Provided we fight as a team and don't get in each others' way, we can probably defeat him. However, I sense that in such an eventuality would be little more than a minor victory." He turned to his wife, whom he knew to be at least as in tune to the universe as he was, if not more. "Do you sense it? By remaining here in the open, we are in jeopardy, and no more than that Arkus." OOC: blaaa... X3 |

Few were the times he had seen this particular General emberassed and glowing red like a dying star.
"I'm sorry," Valkier laughed before quickly arranging the seriousness of his voice. "But I have orders for you" Valkier paused to wonder to himself. "Am I interupting something on your end?" Meanwhile, at the head of the Naga, the bridge was already setting a new course. They were preparing to converge with the fleet at the proper jump point. It would be minutes before they could reach the Xarians, not to mention Arkus. And then it would be over.[/quote] |

Her piercing blue eyes glared at him indignantly evn though her cheeks were still red from being laughed at. “I am quite alone, Majesty, I assure you,” she said a little icier than she meant to. She cleared her throat and allowed her arms hang down at her sides. "There is nothing to interupt."
The sting of insult still pierced the back of her mind. She had to admit to herself that she had used her feminine charms occasionally to gain friends in high places, but she had never been desperate enough to do anything extreme. If anyone, besides the Emperor, had asked her such a question, she would have been plotting a way to utterly humiliate him on the spot. “You said you had orders?” she looked at him inquiringly. Elaina felt her cheeks begin to cool down as she began to regain her composure. |

Melia stalked down the hallways, sometimes forwards, sometimes backwards. She came down one hall and at the intersection, looked to the left. She recoiled quickly when she heard a noise coming from the direction of the engine room. He'll be here soon enough. |

The Xarian queen held out her left arm, that same silvery lightning sparking about her hand as a silver dragon slowly slithered forth, shortly forming into a hilt with a silver beam pulsating out from the mouth. She gripped the sword tightly and waved towards the door, jogging to catch up with Melia. When she did, she tapped the girl on the shoulder and chuckled.
"We won't let you take all the glory, kid.", she said jokingly. Akari's ear twitched; "He's coming..", she whispered, taking a step forward in front of the Amran. The Queen readied herself, placing both of her hands on the hilt as she watched a shadow come closer and closer to the two women. |

There were times when he could read people's faces; the depth of his intuition was astounding if not frightening. He saw the indignation in Elaina's face, even though he knew about some of her most scandalous activities (which he applauded her for... "most cunning").
"Just taking all possibilities into account," Valkier smirked toothily. "Just don't try anything too irrrational on my ship. "Anyway, we're preparing to move out; Arkus seems to be going solo and, as such, straight to his death. While we are converging with the fleet at the jump point I would suggest that you get dressed and meet your team. You are going to be the frontal assault team on this mission so you will have to learn your team by some way other than those files. "Or, I might allow you to rest, if you really need it, and I'll whip the team into shape myself?" |

I’m always rational, Elaina thought to herself as she openly rolled her eyes, and she flipped her hair over her shoulder. Read that Valkier.
Rufo is going to get himself blown up with he Xaririans, she thought. To be destroyed along with your enemy, whom you were trying kill… How terribly ironic is that? “There is no rest for the weary, Majesty,” Storming replied with a small smile. “I’ll be dressed as soon as I can, and prep my team. I just need to know where. Shall I meet you on the bridge, sire?” OOC:Blah...... >_< |

Valkier took one last glance around the edges of the screen's picture before closing the thing entirely. Not much to do then but straighten out his clothes, grab his stately jacket, and grab his gun slings. "Well, here we go again," Valkier muttered as he slid his rifle over his back. "Hopefully Arkus can keep them busy long enough for us to get there" |

After punching the wall angrily to blow off some of the steam from being embarrassed in front of the Emperor, she rushed into her closet and yanked out a skirt, and then she strapped a gun holster on each thigh before slipping into the skirt. She pulled on her boots and shoved a knife in each one. After a few moments, she found her tie under the couch, and put it on along with another holster which she could wear under her jacket. She put on her jacket, buttoned it up, and buckled her belt after checking to see if her last two guns were in their holsters. Finally, she glanced in the mirror, and gave a satisfied nod before she snatched a hair rubber band and rushed out the door.
Elaina barely heard the door shut behind her as she walked briskly to the bridge, while she made her way through the halls, her hands deftly braided her ebony locks. She finished doing her hair just as she arrived at the bridge, and she flipped the braid over her shoulder when the doors opened. Her icy blue eyes swept over the room where she first laid her eyes on her team. A loud whistle reached her ears, which turned out to be the twins with an identical smirk on their faces as looked the general up and down. When Elaina glared at the two of them, they stopped almost instantly. Behind them and away from the others a man with a wild golden mane of hair, Leo, stood silently, and he was looking out the window. It seemed like he was lost in thought because he didn’t even glance in her direction. A large man that looked more like a seven-foot wall of muscle sat in a chair that looked as though it might break from the strain; it was Taurus. He shot angry glares at her, and seemed to be muttering something about how women have no place in the military. She rolled her eyes and the man sitting next to him, Sagittarius, who had been trying to strike up some kind of friendly conversation, looked up at her and smiled charmingly. He swept over to her, took her gloved hand in his, and kissed it before smiling up at her and saying, “Pardon me, My Lady, but are you lost?” “No, Sagittarius,” Elaina smiled pleasantly at him but her eyes flickered dangerously as she freed her hand from his grasp. She felt a bit of pleasure when he saw the look of surprise in his eyes when she called him by name. “I am precisely where I need to be. My name is General Storming, and I will be leading this team,” she said, making her way into the room. The twins gave each other a high five, Sagittarius blinked a few time in surprise, and Leo’s eyes flicked over to her. However, Taurus stood up angrily and stomped over to her. The floor shook with each step he took, and only stopped when he was right in front of Elaina. Then the giant glared down at her, and she coolly gazed back into his eyes. “Is there a problem, Taurus?” her voice was icy. “I will not be led by a woman,” he growled viciously. “You aren’t fit to lead!” “You don’t have any choice in the matter,” she replied callously. “Now, you will take your seat. The Emperor will be arriving soon and I would hate to have to explain why one of the members of the team he created is dead because he couldn’t be led by a woman.” She paused to allow her words to sink in to that thick head of his. Suddenly, her hand shot up, grabbed a fistful of the collar of his shirt, and then she yanked down as hard as she could so that they were looking eye to eye. His eyes were wide in shock, and Elaina had difficulty hiding a little smirk as she said quietly, “Now, you will take your seat, and wait for the Emperor to arrive.” |
| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | "Looking for someone, ladies?" came a quiet question from behind the Xarian and the Amran. His illusion form that was walking towards them reverted back into a little mechanical box the size of a rubix cube, only with six legs that it moved around on. Arkus had snuck down and stepped into a small storage compartment as the Amran had came by just a minute before. He had since sent the signal to his illusion generator and had it come down the halls.
"Now, I don't know about me," Arkus said, a revolver pointed at each of their heads, "But I think the two of you are in a lot of trouble." The small dragon on his shoulder gave a mocking laugh, then hissed with glee. "And have you met my friend, Melseme? He's not too happy to see your little dragon companion for some odd reason." |

I suppose it is my duty to inform you that you are also, in fact, in a lot of trouble." Falcone swiftly brought his glowing blade next to Arkus' neck. "Bullet wounds can be healed, but I fear a severed head cannot. If you weren't perhaps our only possibility for survival, I would sever your neck this instant. You know that Valkier is sending some sort of massive fleet towards are position at this very moment -- and you must further know that he would destroy myself and the rest of my group regaurdless of any who might get in the way. Namely, you."
Falcone paused deliberately for a moment. Though he hated the idea of negociating with an enemy, he seemed to have little options at the moment. Their ship was rather useless at the moment, for they were teathered to Arkus', and was slightly crippled and nearly weaponless besides. He could as yet not prove that a fleet of any sort (much less Valkiers') was on the way, but he had a strong feeling -- and he knew to always trust his feelings. "I sense that you aren't any more loyal to Valkier than I am, so why don't we, at least for the moment, help each other out and live to fight another day. Think about it, but you may not have much time, so please do decide quickly." OOC: blaaa~ XP |
