His eyes widened knowingly, and he nodded his head in understanding of her plight.
"Ah yes, of course," said he. "My apologies for not having told you earlier. The best explanation is simply a test of will. The wings, in their design, can "shrink" somewhat, such that clothing can be worn as normal. All you must do is "will" them to shrink, and they will retract into themselves, for lack of a better explanation, and there will be little remanants of them but for slightly wider shoulder blades. As for flapping the wings, it works just like any other muscle, you just have to get used to having the extra ones there." He smiled indulgantly, then added, "Any other questions?" |
| Eshe Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 485 | The young genin scratched the back of her head, slightly bewildered. Will...? Extra muscles...? The whole concept of 'more muscles' confused her, but she decided to try anyway. She sat down on the bed like before and closed her jade eyes. After a few minutes, her wings shook slightly. The young woman winced, gripping the sheets on the bed in her delicate hands. To keep from shouting, she bit her tounge, soon tasting her own blood in her mouth. Slowly, her wings moved upwards, but they fell quickly afterward. "I don't think I'm strong enough, yet..." she sighed, looking down. However, she decided to try 'shrinking' her wings again. She concentrated and thought about the wings shrinking into her back; it felt and almost looked real in her mind. When she opened her eyes again, she saw that her wings were indeed gone. "I did it!" She laughed and smiled, turning away from the man to put her happi coat on over her chest.
As she admired the coat, she remembered something. "Oh... yes, another question.. Ah, what's your name? I don't think I really ever got it..." |

When he heard her question, his expression did not faulter, but it aroused in him something that he'd been ignoring for some time. However, he decided that truth would be best, were his plans to work out in their entirety.
"Perhaps you'll have heard of me," he says mysteriously. Though the warmth in his voice does not dissappear, the illusionary clothes he 'wore' did, replaced with his original black outfit. "My name is Kenji, the one of legends. Don't believe what they say about my age though. It may seem like I've been around since the dawn of time, but I'm really not that old. I apologize for the illusion, but I doubt I would have survived long in the village had they been able to recognize me. "Now that you know who I am, I am afraid that I couldn't let you go even if I wanted to. You'll understand, of course. Besides, you wouldn't get very far. Those wings would slow you down without proper training in their movement. I've given you the basics, but you'll still need training. If at the end of that time you still wish to leave, I shall let you, but if you betray me I will have to silence you. "You understand, of course." |

"I wouldn't want to leave you anyway--" she began to say until she clapped her hand over her mouth. Her cheeks turned slightly pink as she turned her gaze away from his. After regaining her composure she stood up, her knees wobbling. "A-anyway, can you train me so that I can use these....?" She looked behind her to where her wings would normally be. "I'd be so happy to learn from you.." |

Sanjuro blocked the hand that held the kunai so it couldn't press up against his neck. He had barely managed to stop it in time. He's definetly faster than he showed me in our match... he thought. But I didn't show him how fast I really am, either. Shifting his hand, he latched on to Tetsuo's wrist, and made to hurl the Sound-nin across the floor. |

For the first time in too long, Kenji was truely happy. He inclined his head to the young genin warmly, his hands held one over the other in front of him.
"I am glad to hear this. Yes, I can train you to use them. And you have my word, that by the end of your training you will be exponentially more powerful than anyone of your level." He paused in thought for a moment. "The Chuunin exams are coming up in a few months. Knowing Kakashi's reputation, he will have your team enter. If you stay with me and train, you will have very little problem acing this exam." OOC: 800th post! w00t! Go SH! Here's to another 100! |

They used to make fun of me because I fell a lot and things like that... but I'll show them..." Her face was filled with enthusiasm as she thought about all of the different possiblities from her training. Suddenly she jump up, filled to the brim with vigour. "Can we start now? I want to become as strong as I can!" |

He did land on his feet, however, he was off balance and sliding. He reached into his pockets and spread his fingers out showing 4 kunai in each hand. He cocked his arms back and thrust the kunai forward all heading in the right direction of his target. |
| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | Sanjuro swiftly caught 7 of the eight kunai hurtling at him and used the ring on the end of one to stop the point of the last one from hitting him in between his eyes. He noticed that Iruka was no longer in the room, and the kids had left pretty quickly, too. The young Chuunin performed a hand seal.
"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!" he said, and seven more of him appeared around him. They grinned. "Can you beat us all, Sound nin?" one asked. |

"I dont see the harm in starting right away, however the first step is usually to master the use of your wings. This can take some time and there isn't a whole lot I can do to help you." He paused, glancing at the Genin in front of him for a moment. "However, perhaps we should wait until you are fully used to having the muscles there before we delve too much into flight. If you can hold your coat tightly and extend your wings to their full length quickly, it should make a hole of a decent size for them to fit. It will be best for you to have them out whilst doing other training, even if you are not using them." Kenji opened the door and took a step out before he continued. "In case you pull off the coat instead of creating holes, I shall await you outside." |
| Eshe Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 485 | Meiko nodded and gripped her shirt as Kenji left the cabin. She tried to move her wings, but instead she caused herself more pain. After what seemed like hours, she was able to streach her wings out to their full length, creating large holes in the back of her happi coat. She bent and opened her wings, begginning to get used to how they felt. Once she felt that she was ready, the young genin walked back outside and over to where she saw Kenji.
"Sensei, I'm finished." she said as she trotted up to him, smiling. |

Tetsuo began a seal as a gust began to fill the room, wind circled the group and began concentrating, moving at increasing speeds as what became a tornado flew into the duplications. |
| Digithe Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 884 | Posted: Mon Jun 21, 2004 9:49 pm | Characters: All for this theme; By Digithe: This theme, Any theme Kenji, who had been facing away from the girl at the time, paused for a few moments before turning around, clapping his hands together as if to rid them of dust and smiling softly. He looked over the Genin in front of him admiringly, appearing quite pleased with how she had progressed thusfar.
"Good, good!" he said with a subtle tone of excitement lacing his words. "Not much pain left anymore I hope?" He spoke this as more of a statement than a question, continuing regaurdless of how she may have answered. "Next, I think it'll be good to work on your chakra control," He said, walking over to an exceptionally tall tree and motioning her to follow. He explained about the excersize she was to perform and demonstrated, walking slowly towards the tree, then placing a foot upon the trunk before he slowly proceeded to walk up the side of the tree. Once he got about fifty feet up the trunk, he pulled a kunai from a pocket and threw it right below his feet. He then droppped to the ground, and explained how he exactly he did what he did. "Come find me when your done," he said encouragingly. "I'll watch your first few to assess where you are right now, but then I may go work on a project. I shouldn't be too far... Oh, and if you have a bit of trouble, a running start sometimes helps." |
| Eshe Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 485 | Meiko nodded, taking in a deep breath as she approached the tree. She gathered up as much chakra as she could before putting her left foot onto the tree. When the foot remained on the tree, she smiled triumphantly and took another step up the tree. Meiko continued up the tree for ten more steps. "Sensei, I'm d--" she began. The genin could suddenly feel her feet lose their grip on the tree, and she fell five to eight feet, landing on her back.
"AH!" she shouted as the pain shocked her small frame. |
