Nimbly dodging the punch his oppenent threw, Sanjuro lept back from his opponents punch. But the punch would have missed anyway, he knew. Then, he felt as if something had slammed itself into his inner ear. He could no longer hear well, and was in pain. He sank to his knees.

"What the hell was that?" he yelled, one hand over his now bleeding ear. He pulled out his katana and sank it into the ground to keep him from falling flat on his face. Leaning heavily on the sword, he stared at the Sound Ninja through his sunglasses. All I need is a moments distraction... he thought.

Tetsuo knew he was stalling, and stood over him. He raised his leg and kicked at his foe, with the strength that would make him fly far to the side. "K.......O........," he said while kicking.

Sanjuro weakly tried to block the kick. He went flying, him in one way, his katana still planted in the ground. His head felt like it was on fire, and he was deafened in his ear. The match was over. As he skidded to a halt on the ground, he just barely managed to raise his fingers and snap them once. That was all it took to do what he had planned. Several things happened before his fading vision as he started to black out. His sword began to glow a violent shade of red. The rumbling began again. The red color of the sword seemed to be sucked into the ground. It emerged a moment later. Right under Tetsuo! The rumbling got louder and hundreds of ropes burst from under the ground and hurtled for Tetsuo, seeking to wrap around him, bind him, bring him to the ground. But Sanjuro didn't see this part. He was already out.

"Victory.... is.... mine...." Tetsuo didn't notice the ground below him. He saw something in the woods that he knew he didn't want to be caught by. He took off towards the village. The explosion blew apart the ground Tetsuo was knocked off his feet for the first time in a while. A few ANBU appeared over him he glared up at their dark masked faces, "shit."

The young Hyuuga came to, rolled over on his stomach, and coughed up blood. Sanjuro weakly pulled himself upright. He looked around. There was some commotion near the village, somewhat distant. He didn't pay much attention to it as he wiped blood from his mouth. He staggered to his feet and limped to his sword. Drawing it from the ground, he sheathed it, and snapped his fingers. The ropes retreated into the ground, and vanished. He made several hand seals, and the ground he decimated by the ropes exploding through the ground was restored. He sank to his knees. Now, not only was he weakened by the battle, but the chakra output it had taken to do that had drained him even further. Drawing his sword, he put it in the ground to use as support to get to his feet. He hobbled toward the gates of Konoha, beaten, bloodied, and drained. The pain in his ear had partially subsided; it was a dull throb in his head. Upon reaching the gates, he pushed them open and fell through, his sword skidding a foot away. His sunglasses were skewed upon his face. He wasn't unconcious, but he did not have the energy to move any farther.

Meiko looked up at him, her cheeks burning a bright pink. "Ah... I um... I should probably... get back to class.." She took his strong hand with her small, fragile one and stood up, dusting off her rear. With a weak smile she looked at him. "Thanks..." She was always at a loss as to what to say to men..

Kenji looked after Meiko dissappearing form with a slight sense of regret. There was potential there, and he could sense it. It was almost as though her aura exuded it, that her scent embodied it -- the potential surrounding her seemed almost palpable to Kenji's sharply honed senses. He took an extra effort to commit her face and structure to memory, wanting to be able to recognize her in any instance. He took a quick moment to weigh the choices, either following the girl or discovering what became of the two other ninja, after which he decided that a Genin wouldn't be going anywhere out of the village, and would be easy to locate.

He turned and leaped into the air towards the village entrance, but when he saw what awaited at the gate, he quickly performed a hand seal and disappeared into a puff of smoke. What stood near the gate was a small group of ANBU, an elite group of ninja comprised of highly-trained jounin. Though he was confident he could take one or two easily, a group of that size would definately prove quite formidable. He also knew that were they to see him up close they would likely see through his disguise, and he wasn't quite ready to leave. So he changed his decision, moving instead towards the other side of Konoha, where the school was located.

Kenji stopped, having picked a good spot high up in a tree, which allowed an excellent view of the training grounds surrounding the school and also provided great cover for him, were anyone's eyes to wander idly in his direction. As he watched, he could see the female Genin making her way up the path to the building.

As the ANBU scoured the area around the gates, where the sound-nin had been found, one of them came across the nearly unconcious Sanjuro. He called to some of the others.

"I think this is the one he was fighting." he said. "Have the medic-nin take him to the hospital. The medic nin arrived with a stretcher and put the Chuunin's limp form on it. They carried him off.

"He's either good, or he's crazy..." one ANBU said. "A Chuunin taking on a Sound Jounin? I'm surprised he's not dead."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sanjuro awoke in the hospital an hour and a half later. He could move again, and the pain in his ear was gone. He sat up. His katana was lying nearby, along with his sunglasses. He climbed out of the hospital bed. I should have used it early on... he thought. He wouldn't have been able to focus his chakra to redirect the whistling. He put his sunglasses over his odd Hyuuga eyes, picked up his katana, and left. He was going to visit the school, where his old teachers were. Iruka-Sensei would be happy to see him...or maybe he wouldn't...Sanjuro has been a prankster in class, but an excellent student. He had trained at home to master techniques, inventing a few of his own in the process. He entered the school and looked around. It hadn't changed at all. As he wandered down the halls, a voice called at him.
"OI! Hyuuga Sanjuro!" it said. Sanjuro turned. Iruka was running at him. "I thought you had stopped pranking these halls? Did you fail your Chuunin exam again or what?" The young Hyuuga smiled.
"Not this time..." he said. "This time didn't have Nenshoukaze." Nenshoukaze...one of the Shinomori clan...and the advanced bloodline that Sanjuro had not known of until it was too late.
"WHat are you doing here, anyway?" Iruka asked.
"Just visiting, and perhaps find some worthy students for when i'm a Jounin."
"Ah...well...good luck. There is a new prodigy this year...whats his name...Hyuuga Yuunji." Sanjuro stiffened. Hyuuga Yuunji...the new son of the Head family.
"I shall go watch them perform, then..." Sanjuro said. He walked into a classroom and took a seat at the back.
Meiko scurried up the path that lead to her school in a frantic rush. She had ended up staying out MUCH longer than she had originally intended, and she was afraid that her sensei would now scold her. Luckily for her, she was able to find that her sensei was late, as usual. With a calm and collected smile, Meiko walked up to her two female teammates, Tomino and Mitsuki. "What's up? Sensei isn't here yet, I guess?" the young Genin said, smiling as she scratched the back of her head.
Mitsuki shook her head. She had long black hair that fell slightly past her knees. "Nope... He's always so late..." She sighed and sat down against a tree. "You'd think that after lecturing us when we're late, that he'd actually make an effort to be on time himself..." Tomino whined, jumping down from a branch up in a tree. Long, mid-back length blonde hair fell softly onto her back as she reached the ground, crossing her arms.
Meiko laughed. "You're right. Baka Sensei." she laughed.
"Hey, what were you doing, Meiko? You were gone longer than normal." Tomino scoffed.
"Oh, I went for a walk around town, and I fell asleep on a bench. When I woke up, there was this really dreamy-looking guy... He wore our forehead protector, but he didn't look familiar..." Meiko raised her right index finger and pointed to her Konoha forehead protector. "I would've stayed longer, but... Y'know how sensei gets.. Especially since the Chuunin exams are coming up soon and all..."
The three girls sighed. "Well, I'm going to get some juice with Mitsuki, wanna come?" Tomino asked as she took a few steps towards the school.
Meiko smiled and shook her head, leaning against the tree and sliding down to the ground. "Nah, you two go. I'm ok." The two girls walked off, leaving Meiko alone to take a short nap.
Sanjuro continued to stay seated in the back of the class. The students began to pour in. Iruka stood at the front of the class.
"Today we'll be practicing Henge." he said. "You are you transform into..." he paused. Looking around the room, he saw Sanjuro. Sanjuro shook his head. No, he mouthed silently. Iruka smiled. "Our guest, Sanjuro." Sanjuro walked from the back seat to the front of the class. One student noted Sanjuro and was clearly unhappy about it. He was Hyuuga Yuunji.
The students lined up and looked at the Chuunin. One by one, they transformed into him. When it came to Yuunji's turn, he merely glared at Sanjuro.
"Ah...Yuunji-sama..." he said. "Number one rookie this year? Well done." Yuunji continued to glare.
"Sanjuro-nii-san," he said softly. "I will defeat you one day. You know that." Sanjuro returned the young rookie's glare.
"You do that, Yuunji-sama. Number one rookie you may be, but I am a Chuunin. You are not even a genin. It would be foolish to fight me."
"We can see about that." Yuunji said. Sanjuro rolled his eyes and sighed. Removing his sunglass, he invoked the Byakugan and locked eyes with his would-be opponent. The rookie's eyes began to move. First they went to the top left corner, then to the bottom right. Sanjuro smiled.
"You cannot fool my eyes." he said. "You moved your eyes to the top left corner when you felt the pressure from my eyes. This indicates you are recalling a past event. A harsh past. Then, your eyes moved to the bottom right. You were imaging physical and mental pain. You remembered your old self, and predicted the outcome of a match from past expieriences. A prediction, that allows you to realize you would lose! Now, cease this arguement and transform!" The veins from around his eyes disappeared and the Byakugan was through. Yuunji, fuming, returned to his seat, knowing he would be defeated if he fought.
"I won't transform into ilk such as you." Yuunji said.
OOC: I think I'm going to ignore most of that post just now boots. ninja don't waste chakra just to be lazy, because u only have so much chakra available, and u wouldn't want to waste it; besides that, Kenji has been masking his "chakra output",as I guess we could call it, in such a way that sharingan and byakugan users couldn't detect it. also, thought byakugan can see through some stuff, it cant see through everything.
in other words, get off your lazy ass, and u cant see kenji by his chakra. thank you ^^
The girl was now quite alone, her friends having left to buy juice as they waited for their sensei. Kenji, deciding to seize the opportunity, stood up on the branch and leapt out of his tree, gliding down gracefully to an almost soft landing upon the ground. He paused for a moment to compose himself, putting on once again the air of an upbeat Konoha ninja. He walked happily up to Meiko, his arms swinging loosely at his sides.
"I am surprised that you would hang around this school still," he says warmly when he finally makes it to the young Genin's side. "I have a knack for sensing a shinobi's potential, and I can see that yours is greater than many in your class." He paused for a moment, looking at her admiringly as though remeasuring her potential at that moment.
"Yes, I can definately see it. All you would need is a push in the right direction," he continued happily.
When she heard a deep voice, Meiko opened her eyes slowly and looked up. The young Genin could feel her cheeks growing warmer as she watched his smiling face.
"Ah... anoo... Potential, me?" Meiko looked down, brushing a few strands of hair out of her face. "But.. I graduated really low in my class. How could I be good at all? I keep failing tests..." The young girl's self-esteem dropped lower and lower.
The ninja smiled at the girl in front of him, intrigued by her lack of self-confidence.
"To be a great ninja, one needn't be able to explain how to do things in writing, you just need to be able to do them. For example, I could easily throw a shuriken into that tree behind you and then throw a kunai into the hole in its center," he explains, pausing to show Meiko the a shuriken. "But could I tell you how exactly I'd do it? Not really. Book smarts and world smarts are two different things, and that's something they expect you to learn on your own at this school.
"I can tell that you are destined for great things, and with a bit of help, I bet you could stir up some kind of storm at the next Chuunin exam, no matter how little training you think you've done. I am willing to give you this help, but we must leave now, and I must warn you -- it will hurt more than anything you have ever, or will ever feel in your entire life. I have seen many a ninja succomb to the pain and fall unconscious before the process can finish, and in some cases they've died.
"Like I said," he continues after a brief pause to let the words sink in. "It won't be easy. But if you are willing, I am confident that you would endure. And when you do, your agility could quickly become superior to even that of your sensei's."
Only a few words really sinked into Meiko's brain from what the man had said. 'Pain' and 'dead'. The young woman gulped harshly, bringing her knees up to meet her chest. The idea of being even faster than her sensei sounded excellent, however, the pain was an issue that was not to be overlooked. After a few minutes of sitting there without saying a word, Meiko looked up to the man and nodded meekly.
"Allright. I'll do it."
Kenji smiled happily, enthralled that the young genin was brave enough to accept his offer despite the risks. He walked forward and set his left hand on the girl's shoulder, while he performed a series of one-handed seals with his right.
"Hang on for a moment, this could feel a little...wierd. Kadoguchi no jutsu*!" A strong wind picked up suddenly, seeming to come from the ground up. Leaves and dust swirled about Kenji and Meiko, forming a small cloud. Then, a heartbeat later, it dissappeared with a small "poof," with the two ninjas dissappearing with it. Everything returned to looking as though nothing had happened.
The two reappeared an instant later in a small wood, with many clearings of various sizes pervading the landscape. Though they didn't look natural, there was nothing particularly special about the clearings, the edges of which were covered with fallen leaves and twigs. Kenji lead the girl through the woods to one particularly large clearing, and raised his arm to point towards the center.
"Please, he said. Walk to the center and stand up straight. It's best to do it standing, because if you're sitting you wont be able to collapse to relieve stress, and you will want to throw your head through the ground." He put on a reassuring smile as he performed a long string of almost twenty hand seals. As he finished forming the last one, a mass of complicated lines lit up all along the ground, glowing a soft green glow. Any stray leaves which might have been upon the ground were blown gently away by an unseen force. Kenji formed quick set of five seals, then what appeared to be another twenty, followed by seemingly a hundred, each time the motions getting more and more blurred from speed. The runes upon the ground glowed brighter for a second before calming down to their previous level as he finished the final seal.
"Now," the ninja yells out to Meiko. "You're going to have to perform a few seals, but it's pretty easy. Just watch me." He slowly raised his hands in front of him again, demonstrating the first seal.
