He then made a second lunge at the genin, this time spinning in a whirlwind, creating, essentially, a bladed tornado. While the kids were smart enough to not get near this, multiple kunai began to fly from it in all directions, like a black tidal wave.
Kaguske, seeing the kunai beginning to fly, drew 2 of his own and tried blocking. But there were just too many. For everyone he blocked, another appeared. Several began to breach his defenses. cuts appeared on his arms and face. He kept trying to knock them away, and then something changed. He could see which ones were closing in first, and knew he had to stop them before the others. Suddenly, the kunai stopped overwhelming him, and he regained his defense. He couldn't see it, but his eyes had gone from the normal shade of crystal green to an odd shade of orange. OOC:yeah, i was trying to find an intro point for that, and the other chars have to react to the kunai as well, because they are fast |

Nenji concentrated as hard as he could on the kunai heading straight towards him. Though he knew he would have been no match for them normally, his Zenchigan helped immensely. The more he concentrated, the more obvious the movements of the kunai were -- almost as though someone were holding them and simply walking them over to him. With a surprising ease that almost frightened him enough to lose his concentration, Nenji skillfully deflected the kunai. He looked to see how is comrades were fairing and saw with dismay that Kaguske was doing fine. His other friend, however, was not as fine. He leapt towards her, dodging as many kunai as he could, his concentration thus hindered, but was grazed by many and hit by several. She had been able to defend Koshi, but she herself was quite injured. Nenji concentrated again and aided her. "Oi, Kaguske, get your lazy ass over here and help!" Nenji shouted angrily, ignoring the pain in his side which a well-placed kunai had caused. Nenshoukaze frowned, visibly angry. His eyebrows furrowed and his lips moved back to show his teeth. Nobody attacked his students. Nobody. Noting with pride that his students seemed to be doing well on their own, he leapt with intense speed towards the fleeing Masatake, thrusting his sword at his opponent's body. As he did so, he forced chakra into it, causing the blade to extend rapidly. Though his stab missed, the blade was just long enough to slash horizontally and hit this dangerous ninja, and so slash Kaze did. |

When he reached his friends, apart from several cuts, he was fine. Without looking back at his friends, he helped Nenji fight off the kunai storm...
*** Masatake stopped his spinning, and the whirlwind vanished to reveal...a log, sliced expertly into two halves. The real jounin was coming at Kaze with a downward stroke of his scythe. He was pleased to note the look of rage on his opponents face, grinning as he brought his weapon to bear. |

He could afford by no means to allow the Oni-gan to be unleashed this early, especially with the rampant rage which had been flowing through his veins. He felt himself relax slightly, though the combat was exciting him. Manipulating the air around him, Kaze spun himself in the air to slash with his extra long blade towards Masatake. As it moved, it split into two; one stopped at the scythe to stop it while the other continued to slash at the Jounin's side. |
| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | Leaping back, Masatake was less thrilled to see Kaze regain some of his cool. If he could have made him release his second eye then...well, no matter. He had a little plan of his own. Among the sand that was swirling around them, a small circle seemed to spin faster than the rest. Masatake had not made this obvious, in fact, it seemed like a wind swirl, no more. But Masatake knew otherwise. He wanted Kaze to be out of the way just long enough to kill Koshi. He knew just how to do it, too. In a halfhearted attempt, Masatake flicked a handful of kunai at the young Genin again, but it was swiftly taken down by the young ninja, as Masatake knew. He wanted something else. |

Nenshoukaze sensed this as he saw Masatake repeatedly toss kunai at the students, who skillfully blocked them all without difficulty each time. Those were obviously some sort of distraction. Clearly, Masatake's battle with Kaze himself was another distraction, but from what? Nenshoukaze broke off the attack, his sword returning to a normal katana's length. He leapt back onto a tree, keeping watch of Masatake while he surveyed the area for clues. Then, he saw it.
Sand. That retched awful stuff which the bastard used in their last fight. Was he preparing another sand screen? Was there something else? Nenshoukaze forced himself to look closer at everything without losing his focus on his opponent, but he still didn't see anything too odd... OOC: thought i'd give you time to interrupt him if you want |

Holding his scythe off to one side, he prepared a swing that only a dodge could avoid, and leave no room for a counter. He also didn't want to give Kaze too much time to think. If he kept him on his toes, he wouldn't see it. |

Nenshoukaze focused on everything; his time was limited. Then, it hit him. A bunshin appeared by Nenji and one by Kaguske.
"Nenji, focus all of your strength into searching for anything out of the ordinary; this guy is up to something but I can't find it with him attacking me like this," said the first bunshin, which ran quickly to Keiko to repeat this message. "Kaguske," spoke the other. "You're on your own for defense, I need the others to search." Nenji nodded, lowering his kunai and stepping back. The sand? Why, he hadn't even seen it! And yet, there it was, swirling on the ground. Nenji did a double take. Swirling? Was that normal? |

They each brought their scythes up and began an attack on the genin again. The real Masatake launched himself at Kaze again, bringing his scythe around for another quick power swing.
*** From her perch nearby, Fujiko was watching carefully, making every note of Kaze's moves, how he reacted to her masters, everything. If there was a weakness to be found, she would find it. |

He landed against a tree and planted his feet upon its trunk as leverage to help steady his sword against the scythe. Meanwhile, the real Nenshoukaze fell towards the sand clones, slicing at one and extending the blade of his kageken to hit the second.

Masatake had his trap set, he knew how to catch his prey. He waited in anticipation. He knew he was attacking a clone, and where the real one was. Within the next second or so, it'd be done. Kaze's foot hit the sand, then it happened. The swirl exploded upward in a circle, seeking to encase him in a bubble. |

He tried to jump, but it was futile. This sand was infused with chakra, it was quite obvious now. He'd been careless, and it could very well cause him the mission. In vein, he tried to form hand seals, but his wrists were soon latched onto and torn apart, forcing him to drop his KageKen, which fell to the ground, shattering and disappating into the air. As Kaze looked on, he became engulfed in a dome of sand... |
| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | Kaguske looked to see his sensei get caught in a bubble of sand, and heard the Sand-nin laughing triumphantly.
"NOOOO!" he yelled, launching a handful of kunai at the Jounin. Masatake merely laughed as he knocked them all away. He moved over to the dome of sand and peered inside. Seeing Kaze's form inside and glaring at him gave him enough satisfaction to chuckle again. "Caught you at last, you sly fox!" Masatake said, turning away and walking toward the genin. "Now, Who's first?" he asked, cracking his neck and twirling his scythe. |

This was the height of carelessness, and could easily have been avoided if only he'd thought to scan the area for chakra. Now there was little he could do but to have faith in his students skill; perhaps they could somehow distract Masatake enough for him to break his concentration. Kaze closed his eyes, thinking. Wait a second! he thought. My kageken! Indeed, it was still floating invisible through the air of his "cell." However, being made of chakra, it could not escape the chakra-lined prison. However, if his students could distract Masatake just enough to make a crack, he could help them out. In the mean-time, he refocused all of his zenchigan energies into chakra dection, and slowly put more chakra into his kageken.
Nenji looked with surprise at the sphere which now encompassed his teacher. He'd seen the sand... if only he were stronger or could have thought quicker or seen it sooner!, they wouldn't be in this situation! He fought to remain calm, but found it difficult. His thoughts began to repeat in his head at high speed. If only I'd thought quicker... if only i'd seen it sooner... if only i were stronger... if only.... The young ninja clenched his fists and slammed his eyelids shut. He would not -- he could not let his happen! He was not going to be defeated, his teacher would not die! The mission would succeed! Giving into the instincts bred into his clan, he holstered his kunai and leapt at Masatake. When he opened his eyes, two srange dots floated in them now, instead of one. His hands began to glow with chakra as he moved, faster and faster. Then, he arrived and smacked the scythe away with his right hand and shoved his palm at a tenketsu near Masatake's stomach. OOC:... it works, shut up :P |
| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | Masatake raised an eyebrow incredulously. Two already? My, my, the last Shinomori...this would be interesting. Masatake would have been frightened, except for the fact that he was dealing with a little genin. This one was too arrogant to think he needed the other's help. He was going to teach him otherwise...
As Nenji's hand neared his stomach, Masatake simply caught his hand at the back of the wrist and punched at Nenji's face, hard. |
