Jenny smiled lightly. "Nice to meet you, ma'am." She bowed politely, tipping her leather tri-corner hat.

She tilted her head and looked at the woman. Hm... is that...? Yeah, it must be that 'lad' Marc. Apparently Frost has found out, and agreed to cover up for 'him.' Interesting. Quickly realizing that she was staring too long, she said, "Ah, excuse me for staring, Frosty, your wife is quite beautiful."

She turned back around to supervise the men's attempts at walking like 'ladies.' "Give my regards and good wishes to Marc."

OOC:XD She's one of the few, then.

Marguerite's eyes widened in shock when she heard her new "husband's" words. Her first instinct was to slap him (funny, she thought, how the change of clothes suddenly changed everything; if she'd been in her shirt with her breasts bound, she might've felt the urge to punch him, or maybe pull out her sword and try to disembowel him.) Still, he was her captain, dress or no. And she supposed slapping him might ruin the facade he'd just created (which, she hated to admit, was effective.) She sputtered for a moment, looking around at the crew who was looking back at her expectantly. She settled for an, "Um, hello," and what she hoped was a graceful nod of acknowledgement.

Some of the men were averting their eyes, apparently afraid to look at her wrong lest the Captain take out his great and horrible vengeance. The change of clothes seemed to make a terribly important difference to them, as well. And that, she thought miserably, is half the reason I don't want them to know.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"She's pretty," said Steve, staring openly at Mrs. FrostFrost. There was something vaguely familiar about her, but he was certain he'd never seen a women before who looked quite like that.
One of the men elbowed him painfully in the ribs. "Hey, watch yourself, Squirrely." The man balanced the plank on his head and took a few faltering steps forward, carefully not looking at the woman but obviously trying very hard not to look stupid in front of her. "Cap'n won't tolerate anythin', y'know."
"But we look at Jenny all the time," said Steve, rather dumbly.
"Well, a woman with a peg leg don't quite count the same, do she?" said the guy, appearing to regret his attempt to help this poor, stupid lug. " 'Sides, Jenny ain't the Capn's wife, huh?"
OOC:Aaaand... she officially hates the captain. And we'll pretend she took her hair down before coming out.
OOC: Should we skip ahead a bit, or actually go through dance training and stuff? XD;
"Don't even think about trying anything," Frost joked after Jenny complimented Marguerite's looks. He said it with such evenness, however, that he didn't expect anyone to appreciate it as a joke. No matter, he thought disinterestedly. He stole a glance at Marguerite and could tell that she wasn't exactly thrilled with his story. This also didn't bother him too much -- it was the most believable story, after all, and he had kept his word to not share the secret.
Frost stood still for a while, arms crossed over his chest as he observed the crew's progress. They appeared to be slowly getting the hang of it -- it was passable, anyway. He then turned back to Marguerite who was still looking fairly awkward. "And how are you... my lady?" The last two words rolled almost uneasily off of his tongue. Years of training and high society had taught him what to do, but recent habit had made that confusing, in light of present circumstances. "Are you walking, or do you need help?" As she seemed to understand his vague choice of words quite well (he suspected now that her being a woman helped her in this) Frost assumed that she would catch his meaning behind this: Can you walk like a lady now?
"I... might be able to try," she said. She was no longer blushing; in fact, her face had begun to go a little pale. With her dark complexion, however, this was difficult to see right away... Dammit, Captain, you tied these damned strings too tight. But she couldn't say anything, not in front of the crew. Ladies were supposed to wear corsets this tight, they weren't supposed to complain, and they certainly weren't supposed to curse at their husbands. Her waist, already small, had been squeezed into approximately the space of a beanstalk.
She stood with her back straight and her shoulders back (if there was one thing the corset did well, it was to keep one's back straight and shoulders back) and took a few steps, amused by the way the skirt swished. She tried not to watch it too obviously, but for a moment she was so diverted that she forgot about her difficulty breathing. "I think I might be able to do all right, Cap-- er... Jack?" she said hesitantly, too quietly for the crew to hear, not sure just how to address him. She sounded a little out of breath, but it was nothing too terribly alarming. She would, she decided, just loosen the strings a little later.
If she lasted until later.
She would, she decided firmly, last until later.
OOC:Gonna have her faint or something at the ball. XD Poor Marc.
Jenny rolled he eyes. "I'm not a Lesbian, Cap'n Frosty-Ass. Even if I was, I would refrain from touching that one... I'd rather keep what limbs remain, thank you..."
She turned to the man who had said 'Well, a woman with a peg leg don't quite count the same, do she?'. Jenny smiled a mischevious smile, and walked over to him. "Really? Hm. Well, do you want to find out?"
She was very close to him, and the man looked quite uncomfortable.
"...Maybe?"
"WRONG!" And then, she swung her cane right into his crotch. He fell down with a thud, and rolled around for a few minutes clutching his... parts.
She looked back to Frost and his 'wife'. "She looks quite pale, Jack. Are you sure she'll be all right? I mean, I certainly don't envy her, in that dreadful bone cage in this heat." She sighed. "I think it was almost worth it to have my eye put out by Aiden, since I never have to wear one of those contraptions ever, ever again..."
OOC: Alright, I'll put it on fast forward!
In the remaining time on the ship, Frost taught the nine he'd chosen to accompany him how to dance according to their assigned gender. He showed them only a few dances -- more than two would have probably caused them to pass out from overload -- but made sure they could do it if asked. He also gave brief grammar and pronunciation lessons, went over the plans, and distributed outfits. The regular crew members were dressed like merchants, and all insignia on the ship had been removed or hidden. When they arrived at the port, the carriages which Frost's contact had arranged for were ready and waiting.
"Ladies and gentleman," Frost said as the crew was preparing the gangplank, "Now is the time. Remember what you've learned, and remember the plan. If you fail, I do not know you, remember that. There will be no heroics, we will quietly leave and perhaps come back to spring you from prison when security is down. Are we ready?"
Marguerite nodded, her ribs beginning to ache from the pressure of the corset. She was finding it harder to breathe, as well, and after the day's long training, even her dark skin couldn't hide the pale tinge beneath her skin. The dizziness had been worsening all day; she couldn't understand how women wore these torturous instruments all day.
She climbed into the carriage, grateful for the opportunity to sit down. She would normally have combatted this lightheaded feeling with deep breaths, but that was impossible at the moment. "I'll... try not to mess up the dances," she said after a moment, just to fill the carriage with some sort of conversation. "When are we gonna cut out, Captain? As soon as we get what we need?" She paused. "Or do we have to be sociable and hang around all night?"
Jenny fingered the end of her hair, which had been cut shorter upon Frost's insistance that no man would have such long hair--even if tied back in a ponytail. She didn't mind that much, because although it was about a foot shorter, it was still below her shoulders. Without the same familiar weight, though, it felt like something was missing.
She was wearing a very fashionable black suit, with a pinstriped vest and a bowtie to top it all off. "Well... it depends. With most parties, it doesn't matter, but with this one, I think it would be best just to blend in with the crowd, and leave when we're supposed to. You have to remember, the real attendees can't leave until their superiors say it's time to leave."
-----
Aiden woke up suddenly. Someone was knocking insistantly at his door. "It's time to go!"
"Shit!" He exclaimed, leaping out of bed and lighting a candle so that he could see himself to get ready.
"I'll, uh, be a minute," he called to the person waiting outside.
He combed his hair, then tied it back nicely. He donned his navy blue formal uniform, which he had ironed earlier, thank God. He smoothed out the miniscule wrinkles in it, and then opened the door.
It was one of his men. "Admiral, your carriage awaits on the dock... We took the liberty of picking up Miss Heckett at the address on the piece of paper you left on your table."
Aiden's eye twitched, and his face contorted with rage. "You were snooping around in my room while I was asleep, weren't you?" He was a notoriously sound sleeper, and snored so loudly that you could do most anything near him and not wake him up.
"Uh..." The officer looked away nervously. "Well, you wouldn't want to be late, would you?" He reminded Aiden, smile pasted on his face.
Luckily, that did just the trick, and Aiden forgot his anger. "Ah, damn, you're right." He then rushed off to meet the carriage.
The officer sighed with relief and promptly collapse. "I thought I was gonna wet myself," he moaned.
"Well it be 'bout time, Sleeping Beauty," Valerie said tightly when Aiden opened the door. She sat in the carraige straight as a board, and at first glance she looked like a perfect little lady with her hair in an upsweep, her painted lips and the folds of luxurios pale blue fabric. She was fanning herself lazily, and her waist had become incredibly tiny, Aiden could have easily wrapped his hands around and still have his finger tips touch.
The illusion was broken when she turned to grin at him like a fox. The color of her dress brought out her eyes, and it's wild gleam, and a few locks of hair had tumbled out of its upsweep and delicately framed her face. She felt as though she might explode out of the dress, and she looked it as well. Queenie's advice was "Don't eat, and don't talk."
"Don't ye look like a genteel," she teased, doing her best to keep from wheezing. The carriage lurched forward and they went off to the ball.
"That dress does make you look quite pretty... Well, pretty for you... But you look rediculous in that stupid bone cage, all women do," Aiden said, rolling his eyes. "It's not like men make you or anything, so I dunno why... Dammit," he said, coughing. "I sound like Jenny, how embarrassing."
He rolled his eyes again. "Yeah, I look just dandy. I've probably got dried drool all over my cheek or something."
OOC:Aiden's single good quality (besides respecting authority and being committed to his job above all else) is that he thinks that corsets are rediculous >__>
"Well, if the Queen insists on wearin' them, then all the otha ladies mus', too. That's society ," Valerie sighed, and rolled her eyes, but then she grinned at him maliciously. "'Sides, ye might as well like it 'nough, 'cause ye paid for it. Queenie will bill ye in the mornin'."
"And ye do have a bit o' drool, just there," she said tapping the corner of her mouth, in order to distract him from the small fortune he had just spent. "No, the other side. Over... over... ok now, up... up... no, too far up. All right you got it." Actually there wasn't anything, but the Carriage ride was boring and she needed something to do. They drove over a bump or a pothole in the road, and the carraige was jarred. Valerie winced and prayed the cracking sound had been her imagination and not her rib cage.
Aiden got red in the face, "Jesus Christ..." He muttered angrily, clenching his fists tight. He hated spending money on such things, due to his upbringing, although he now had a rather large salary and no real need for economy.
He wiped the 'drool' off of his cheek absentmindedly, not really caring if there was really something there or not. Because he was still quite tired, and wanted to just get this fiasco over, he was less angry than usual about all these things--and in general. Well, at least for now. They hadn't actually gone to the ball yet.
The carriage stopped all of a sudden, and the driver turned around and said, "We're here." He hopped out of his seat and opened the back door, holding it open.
Aiden got out, and stood waiting for Heckett to do the same, one arm out politely. Only for the promotion, he thought, gritting his teeth.
Valerie paused before she got out of the carriage, Aiden’s civil behavior made her uneasy. She liked him better when he was red in the face and threatening her at the top of his lungs. He was more interesting, too. She closed her fan, stood and cautiously placed a hand on his arm and lightly descended to the ground.
“Thank you, James,” she said, practicing how she would have to speak. She looked up at the palace, and realized something. “Stairs,” she groaned quietly, making a pained expression. This was not going to be a fun hike in the heavy dress and high heeled shoes when she could hardly breathe. The door to the main hall looked very far away from where they stood.
Just breathe in, breathe out, one foot in front of the other, Valerie thought, walking toward the steps, using Aiden’s extended arm to keep her balance, so she only had to concentrate on breathing and moving her feet.
Marguerite sat quietly for the rest of the ride. Speaking wasn't worth the effort, not when taking a breath required more effort than a practice duel with the Captain. (At least that was fun, she thought. And probably not likely to happen anymore, now that he didn't think she was a man. He wouldn't want to risk endangering a woman. She'd seen the way he got when one of his crew made the mistake of harming one of the "weaker" sex... no, he probably wouldn't risk harming one himself. Then again, he was still letting her endanger herself by coming to this ball... so perhaps things wouldn't be so drastically different.
Ha, she thought, heaving a mental sigh-- a physical one would have been too difficult-- he was, after all, still a man. And no matter how fair he chose to be about all this, there was no denying that it would have been much easier had her secret been kept a secret.)
The carriage stopped. Marguerite grimaced slightly. She didn't relish the thought of standing up and dancing in this thing. She was feeling dizzier every minute, and that was just sitting.
Unlike the two women in his carriage, Frost was perfectly comfortable. That is, he was used to wearing stuffy penguin suits. Of course, he hadn't actually ironed anything in a while and he had gotten rather relaxed of late. Still, it was not a stretch for him to be wearing such confining clothes.
"Do not call me Captain," Radley said flatly, with practiced calm. "Especially inside, I have no rank to speak of. And Jenny, no Frostyfrost. If I'm caught, you're going down with me." He paused for a moment, looking thoughtfully out of the window and watching the streets go by. They were all half-lit by glowing lanterns hung outside buildings. It had been a long time since he'd been to London. At length, he responded to the question.
"Jenny is right, but I dare not stay until the end. We'll slowly filter out and probably be the first to leave. Blending in is key, though."
OOC: Oops, didn't see Chris' post... I'll add a bit
After the carriage finally stopped and the door was opened, Frost rose and moved out of Marguerite's way, offering her his hand to help her stand. He knew how problematic those corsets could be -- his sisters always had plenty to say about the subject -- and imagined that someone unused to wearing one would have an even worse time with it. He vaguely wondered if it would have been better for her not to wear one, but decided that it would have been too noticeable. Oh well, she's strong; she's a fighter. Anyway, I probably have more reason to worry about the rest of my crew....
