Name: Marael Zadawi Age: 25 std. years Occupation: Senator Alliance: Herself, Arkania, and the New Republic*, in that order Force Abilities: Marael is a Force Adept, but was never formally trained and has only the faintest awareness of her own abilities. She is incapable of conscious control of the Force, but it does assist her in dealing with the difficult situations that have arisen over the course of her political career. She simply finds that she is well-attuned to people and knows well how to manipulate them. Description: Like all Arkanians, Marael is humanoid, with slightly pointed ears and extremely light eyes””though they look near-white, they are actually a very pale shade of blue. Her skin is extremely light, and her hair is what most would call platinum-blonde, for fear of offending her (it is, in reality, white, and she has no fear of the age-related connotations of white hair.) Because of her light complexion, she is extraordinarily sensitive to sunlight. She is capable of seeing into the infrared spectrum, allowing her eyes to function like heat detectors, but this also means that she is very sensitive to sources of extreme heat, such as the sun. Rarely will she ever go out without very dark sunglasses and a large hat. This serves the functional purpose of protecting her, but it also does a good job in allowing her to move about incognito. This lack of attention is not as difficult for Marael to achieve as it is for most Senators. The reason is simply that she’s not a spotlight-seeker and speaks only when nobody else will. Therefore, she is rarely in the public eye, and nobody but her personal acquaintances and peers would recognize her by name, let alone appearance. Besides this, Arkania is a relatively small influence at the moment, so its politicians draw little attention. This suits Marael just fine. She prefers it, in fact, as it allows her to go about her daily business””some of which might land her in a good deal of trouble were she every found out””without being recognized. As far as physical prowess is concerned, Marael is not particularly gifted. She was never trained more than was deemed practical in the ways of self-defense and combat. As an Arkanian, she was raised to believe that her mind was a more powerful weapon than anyone else’s strength””and, in most cases, this is true. She is extremely intelligent, and has had extensive medical and scientific training from the best scientists and doctors in the Galaxy. Despite this, she feels emotions more acutely than is typical for an Arkadian. She’s learned to ignore them in favor of logic when there are choices to be made, but she does not make the mistake of hiding them on a regular basis; her extensive psychology training has taught her the negative effects of such behavior, and these effects would not be desirable. Therefore, she expresses emotion when there is little at stake, and controls them firmly when the moment is important. History: Born to a life of privilege, Marael was schooled from a young age, brought up to be a politician. She learned how to use her superior intellect to her advantage, quickly becoming adept at lying, cheating, and the art of veiled threats. Her Force abilities helped her more than she would ever know during the early stages of her life, allowing her to pick up on concepts more quickly than was normal. She moved on to sciences and medicines, her favorite topics being those of the psyche and the physical body, and the way the two interact. When she was eighteen, she became an ambassador to nearby systems, and by twenty she was a Senator. Although she was good at her job, she was always careful not to be too good, realizing that excelling too much would bring attention that might potentially become stifling or dangerous. When Marael was twenty-two years old, she received news that her family, along with her entire Arkanian colony, had been wiped out by unknown forces. The colony remained, but the people had all been killed silently in their homes, with no signs of any major resistance. She was understandably upset, and was unable to finish her session as Senator, choosing instead to return to her home in mourning. She recovered quickly, however, and was back on the political scene by the next session, with a renewed determination and a hardened resolve to learn who had been responsible. So when she was approached by an ex-Sith who gave his name only as “Orion” and claimed to have information for her, she quickly agreed to his demands. His instructions were clear and simple: he wanted someone dead, but hadn’t the resources to hire a good enough assassin to do the job. She could procure those resources however she wanted to, out of her own pocket or through embezzlement””whatever it took to hire a high-quality hit-man. She did, the job was done, and Orion gave her just enough information to keep her interested. Things continued like this for the next three years. There have been seven deaths so far, and Marael stuck with the same assassin each time, finding him reliable and trustworthy. When he betrayed that trust in an attempt to find a higher bidder, she was left with no choice but to do away with him herself. She wouldn’t have been capable of killing such an experienced fighter had it not been for the element of surprise, as well as the unconscious use of the Force to dampen his awareness of her approach. The experience did shake her quite a bit, though she’s come to the conclusion that the situation is too important for her to do anything but tuck the emotions neatly away until a better time comes along. Now she is left with a thirst for answers and no assassin to help her get them. Her obscurity practically guarantees that she won’t be found out, so she’s been looking around the seedier parts of Coruscant in search of a suitable replacement. OOC:*I assume that’s correct? I don’t know what era this roleplay is… Arkania was, apparently, never a part of the New Republic anyway. I’m going to ignore the technicalities for the sake of having a character. If anyone has issues with that, let me know.
OOC:And so enters the corrupt politician. :) |

So there's an opening for Zephyr's master (possibly ex-Sith), and then there's Zephyr himself (who would claim to be ex-Sith to be just like his master), and then there could be someone else entirely...
:O Anyways, I really like her :) LOL I think Jenny, Dan's Char and Aiden should all duke it out as to who gets to go after this guy xD (Jenny and Aiden would both be interested because, like I said, there's a strong possibility that he would be either Zephyr or his unnamed teacher) GOD IT'S TOO LATE/EARLY BUT I'M TOO DAMN EXCITED ABOUT SH BEING ALIVE AGAINNNN :D |

AND! I just realized Marael's just about identical to Atris, the woman in my avatar... (Melia and Boots ought to know who she is. :) ) |

Damn the New Republic, it's useless in my opinion. Old Republc FTW. And yeah, she is a little Atris-y, except the whole "I got pwnzed by ancient holocrons" bit. And you did your research on Arkanians. Extremely smart bastards with three fingers and infrared vision. I like it. Approved. ~The Administration~ |

http://ileadreike.deviantart.com/art/Marael-Zadawi-linework-70232045 And I've decided that this whole comic-book style is much better than trying to pull off the anime thing. For me, anyway. :) |

Marael's a bit more attuned to her emotions, I'd imagine, but she only expresses them because to hold them in all the time would "not be beneficial." Which is, of course, the Arkanian blood talking. (She pwns Atris. Ecskdee. Not that she could actually use a lightsaber... but neither would she get trumped by holocrons. And she doesn't have such a massive stick up her butt. Lawl.)
I love the way nearly all of our Star Wars characters are very emotionally... reserved. :) |
