Name: Riley “Wings” MacKenzie Age: 23 Occupation: Pilot of the Angel Mark II Items: Silenced semi-automatic pistol, with extra-large clip. He doesn’t particularly care about stealth; the loud noise of an un-silenced pistol just annoys him. Personality: Many people mistakenly accuse Riley of being “slow.” Really, he’s just going at his own pace. Riley is not interested in worrying too much about anything, and so constantly goes hungry for no other reason than he doesn’t want to be bothered to find food. When he’s busy or has no interest, Riley also tends to not think about other things. Even if he knows he has to do something – buying groceries is a good example – he will stubbornly refuse to do it if he “isn’t in the mood.” Eventually, if he knows that nobody else will do it, he’ll come around – that, however, could take weeks. In this way, he often gets out of doing various boring tasks when working in a team. However, when he does have the motivation to do something, it gets done. His ship, for example, is always in top condition. The weapons are always cleaned and loaded, and the systems are sparkling. The paint job – well, that’s another story. Functionally, however, it is a dream. The only other productive thing that Riley routinely spends his time on is his computer. Unfortunately, he spends very little time even on this, so he has mediocre hacking skills at best. Besides that, he spends his time reading book after book, writing journal entries and novels, doodling, or just thinking. Contrary to appearances, Riley is not adverse to conversation. In fact, he will speak reasonably amiably with any who engages him. Particularly, he likes to flirt with cute women. Though he wouldn’t call himself a “nice guy,” he does respect people in general, and thus rarely offers obscene suggestions in his flirtations – unless, of course, he knows that the other person won’t mind. If that’s the case, the gloves are off. He actually enjoys double-entendre greatly, though he is still rarely serious about it. Despite being intelligent, Riley is unexpectedly bad at planning and strategy. Furthermore, his charisma lies in his laid-back, mysteriously silent sarcasm, and is much too lazy to inspire his fellow team members. Consequently, he is a terrible leader and doesn’t mind admitting it. He would much rather follow someone else’s plan than make up his own, but that doesn’t mean he will follow people blindly. On the other hand, it would be a gross exaggeration to say that he is a good judge of character, so he might as well. Though his father taught him how to spot obvious lies and suspicious activity, he never got a chance to teach him to see through skilled liars and the like. Physical Description: Riley’s inconsistent work-ethic is seen most clearly in his appearance. He always showers at some point in the day, but his choice of clothing fluctuates wildly. Some days he’ll put on pants and others he’ll throw on a shirt as well. Others he’ll wear an actual outfit, but it won’t look particularly impressive and will probably be un-ironed. Every now and then, however, he will surprise everyone and will do his near shoulder-length hair nicely, shave, and dress neatly and fashionably. Almost without fail, one thing he always wears is a scarf. He has several scarves, and they are all almost twice as long as he is tall, though that doesn’t say a whole lot. To this date, no one has figured out his system for dressing. As mentioned, Riley’s height is not particularly impressive. Still, he is athletic and stunningly handsome, and is not bothered in the slightest by his barely average height. He has strikingly green eyes and naturally black hair. His face is usually blank and disinterested, but by no means devoid of emotion. When he wants to, he can break out in a gorgeous smile and has a cheery laugh. History: Riley is the son of a model and a high-ranking ISSP officer. His mother died shortly after giving birth to him, but his father didn’t let that get to him. Riley grew up in the best part of town, ate the best food and received the best education. His father did his best to raise him as a single parent, but was busy with work all the time, and so Riley was usually left to his own devices. Inspired by his father’s work, Riley studied spaceships and computers, reading everything he could find, and asking his father to fill in the gaps. By eleven, with his father’s help and wallet, he had built his first computer. At fifteen, he had completed the designs for the Angel, named after the pet name his father had given Riley’s late mother. It was a small personal craft, but it flew surprisingly well and earned Riley first prize in the regional science fair. When his father was actually home, he taught the boy how to fight and how to properly use a firearm – just in case a burglar broke in when he wasn’t at home. Though their relationship was strained due to the constant absences, there was no enmity, and Riley looked up to his father the same as any child his age. Shortly after Riley’s eighteenth birthday, his father didn’t return home as scheduled. Riley waited about the house, hoping that he would look over his still-developing plans for Angel Mark II, but after a week he began to think that his father wouldn’t return. Another week later, a letter arrived at the house confirming those suspicious, but he was already gone. He took very few things with him: one was an oversized scarf which his father said was supposed to have been a blanket that his mother was never able to finish; a laptop computer, his father’s spare pistol as well as his bank account number, a trunk full of clothes, and an armful of unread books. Riley shoved his things into the Angel and flew off. He found a job and a small apartment and stayed there for a few months as he finalized his plans for a new ship and practiced with his sidearm. Construction on the Angel Mark II was finished for Riley’s nineteenth birthday, and he has been living out of it since. Perhaps subconsciously irritated by the ISSP for taking his father from him, Riley got into the bounty-hunting business and has slowly been gaining renown for his top-notch piloting skills and excellence with a pistol. Misc.: Though he is often found lounging about, Riley almost never actually sleeps. Some attribute his sluggish quietness to this fact, though he says that they are completely unrelated. His explanation is that sleeping is a waste of time, and being more active than necessary is even more so. On average, he gets fourteen hours of sleep per week, if that. For whatever reason, Riley used to almost always have a cigarette in his mouth. Recently he’s been trying to quit – again, for some unknown reason – but there’s still something hanging out the corner of his mouth: a pen, a lollipop, or whatever. He refuses to give up his coffee, however. He claims to not be addicted, and that he simply likes the taste. Riley’s biggest asset lies in his piloting abilities. He is at a point where he will fly in and out of blockades with his feet so he can continue reading a book (another big pastime for him). His nickname, “Wings” comes from the fact that he is about the only person who can fly his ship. The arrangement of the electronics and instruments is very peculiar, but fits Riley’s way of thinking perfectly. Obviously, other people could fly it in a pinch – the controls aren’t that much different, things are simply laid out in a non-standard fashion. The biggest problem for a new pilot is the amount of sheer thrust it can deliver, and this is more from the surprise factor. Despite being a passenger-class ship, it has maneuverability comparable to that of a single-occupant fighter-class ship. The joke is that he is the only one who can give the Angel her Wings. Thus, he is, in effect, Angel’s “Wings.” Riley has always had a very strong immune system and has rarely gotten sick. Consequently, he doesn’t mind sharing food with or stealing food from anyone. The Ship: The Angel Mark II was designed by Riley himself, and most of the wiring and electronics were installed by hand as well. It is designed as to be fast and agile, but without sacrificing amenities. Four people can comfortably live on her; she is equipped with one large bedroom, one shower, two restrooms, a mini-kitchen, and a large lounge area. There is enough cargo room for a very small personal vehicle. It is lightly armed – five forward-mounted laser cannons, two swiveling laser turrets, and a small ion cannon – but was designed to not need them. Despite being relatively large, she can handle very much like a fighter jet thanks to her custom thruster array. OOC: Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Delicious Baklava? |

D00d... he and Amelia's guy character both always have something hangin' out of their mouths. And he and Esmeralda both have green eyes and black hair!! And they flirt!! (Which means she can't call him gay. She might anyway. Just to get a rise out of him-- and I mean that in a purely innocent way, you sicko. XD) |

He's a pilot, and should keep it at that. He has some computer skills, of course, because he had nothing better to do and needs to have been able to design the Angel. Hacking makes him too useful, though, so yeah...
Also, I made it more clear about the "only he can fly the Angel" thing, I hope. Finally, I updated the part about the way he flirts to reflect the way he's turned out in the RP ;) |
