Thoughts? Advice? Key-Lime Pie? Name: Genji Ayuhara Age: 16 Occupation: Student at Hogwarts (Ravenclaw) Description: Genji is calm and quiet. He always sits in the back of class, and very often is asleep. He has very little trust or respect for teachers – Dumbledore is the only one for whom he has any – but has managed to slip by, avoiding trouble for the most part. Despite his delinquency, he always gets top marks and is easily one of the best in his grade at spell-working. Though they are loathe to admit it, most of the teachers at Hogwarts regard him as one of the best in the school at working spells. Surprisingly enough, he is almost always willing to help other students with any difficulties they are having. However, many people – especially the younger students – are intimidated by him, and never ask. Part of the problem is probably his tendency to be impatient with pupils. Though he doesn’t bother too much during class, he secretly holds himself to very high standards and doesn’t understand that not everyone can match them. So, he doesn’t usually hesitate to raise his voice when a student is repeatedly sloppy or otherwise repeats mistakes over and over. On the surface, Genji is lazy and insubordinate, and the type that has no qualms with starting a fight – and if he does start a fight, he rarely loses. To some extent, this is indeed the way he is. However, his close friends know that he never starts a fight without a solid reason. Of course, he will rarely reveal the reason on his own; he just doesn’t care to be thought of as a “hero,” and doesn’t believe the teachers will trust him anyway. His close friends are few in number, but great in quality. Though he will be nice enough to anyone he doesn’t specifically dislike, it takes quite a bit of time to completely gain his trust. Once he trusts a person and considers them a friend, however, he is invaluable. Though he won’t admit it, Genji is willing to do anything for his friends – even if it means risking himself. In return, he only expects that his friends will trust him as much as he does them. Despite his appearance of being lazy and cold, Genji is extremely sensitive to others feelings. When something is bothering a friend, or they are upset about something, Genji is often the first to notice, and often the first to offer support. Of course, he works subtly. He is not keen on receiving credit or attention for his kindness, simply because he doesn’t care for attention. Still, he probably cares more for his friends than he does for himself. Genji is strikingly handsome. His black hair is styled expertly, and he dresses fashionably when not wearing a uniform. His delinquency also carries over into his uniform, however. Despite nearly innumerable detentions, he rarely wears the complete Hogwarts uniform to class. When asked to explain, he simply said that school “just as enjoyable, having to wear that stuffy outfit.” (Read: “It’s harder to sleep with that stuff on.”) Unexpectedly – or perhaps not, depending on the perspective – Genji is highly respected among his peers, and is generally seen as a “leader.” If something needs to be done, he’s the one to ask. (Although, if it’s a request from the staff, he’ll only do it for sure if Dumbledore asks; besides that McGonagall is the only other teacher to have any success.) It had even been suggested at one point that he be given “Prefect” status, but that idea was quickly dismissed by nearly every single teacher. After all, someone who slept during class was not a good example – no matter how intelligent or otherwise responsible he appeared to be. History: Genji’s parents were Japanese: his father, Chiaki Ayuhara, was a London-born muggle, while his mother, Mariko Takahashi, was a Japanese witch. They met by chance when she was on a business trip for the Ministry, fell in love, and married. Though he was surprised when Mariko revealed that she was a witch, Chiaki embraced the idea and stayed with her. A few years later, Genji was born. As expected, Genji had a rather interesting childhood, taking part in the peculiarities of both worlds. His father insisted upon his attendance at the regular school, as well as an after-school program where he studied Japanese. In addition to his studies, Genji practiced Kendo at a local dojo. During the summers, however, the family would often make trips to his mother’s country home where he would play Quidditch and do other aspiring-wizard-type things. Things were going well until the year before his acceptance into Hogwarts. The teacher there was a particular jerk, but had mostly left Genji alone. The problem, however, was that he constantly pestered one of Genji’s friends, and never believed him. The treatment got to a point where it was almost worse than actual physical abuse. Then, one incident finally was too much. A report that a student at the school had stolen a certain book from a certain store, and the teacher immediately assumed it was Genji’s friend. While he had no evidence to formally accuse the boy, he pestered him continuously in a way that everyone knew what he thought. When it came out that it wasn’t the boy at all, the teacher simply dropped the accusatory tone that had filled his voice, and had apparently no intention of apologizing. For Genji, it was too much. One day, as the teacher was pestering the boy yet again, Genji stood up and demanded that the teacher apologize to his friend for the insults. When the teacher refused, Genji punched him square in the jaw and knocked him to the floor. He was expelled from the school, of course, and managed to finish the term at another school. The letter of acceptance came from Hogwarts with a friendly note attached, signed simply “A.D.,” suggesting that Genji would enjoy the school more if he didn’t assault any of the staff. It wasn’t long after he finally got there that he realized what A.D. stood for. Random Notes: Though teachers often refer to students by their family name, even a majority of the students at Hogwarts were to Genji as “Ayuhara,” or even “Ayu.” Though he doesn’t mind the first, he does resent being called “Ayu,” as it is really a girl’s name. This mistake probably arose from him introducing himself as Ayuhara Genji, following the Japanese convention of family name first, then given name. Couldn’t fit this into the history very well, so…. Genji has one sibling, a younger sister, and they have always been very close. Of course, there’s the obligatory sibling rivalries and “tattle-tailing,” but in the end, they’ve always been there for each other. |

I always choose the desserts, if you haven't noticed. >< I like him! XD All our students are delinquents, huh? I don't know how the teachers can stand it... heheh. |

Yeah, that's kinda true... but he doesn't pull pranks! So he helps that one out... (Was that four of the five-ish semi-active members were pranksters...? O+o) Anyway, I didn't want him to be "perfect" and since he's in Ravenclaw, he can't suck at the written stuff in class, so I had to come up with something! He's actually sort of a combo of two characters from different Drama series... haha. Glad you like him ^^ Maybe I'll have time to finish his history and will be able to post... |

you're gonna roll your eyes, I know, but I just have to ask... is he Artemis's type? |
| Digithe Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 884 | Posted: Wed Jan 03, 2007 7:11 pm For the record, Artemis isn't "Artemis' type" either :P And no matter what I say you're probably going to say that he's "Artemis' type" anyway... but since I can't imagine what you'd suggest if I didn't answer at all, I'll say that no, he's not "Artemis' type."
>_< |

I meant "is he Artemis's type" as in "is he likely to be, uh, picked on by the perverted predator teacher?" Because that'd be weird, considering that you're roleplaying both of them. ><
XD Haha, my life would be so boring if I didn't pick on people... Ecksdee, poor Artemis. One day he's just a regular decent DADA teacher, and the next thing he knows he's a bisexual pedophile. >< I imagine several of your characters would hate me by now, no? Heheh... |

Yeah, anyway... I added a history. Totally not original, rushed, and just poor in general. But it's there, and it seems to sort of work and sort of establish some of his personality, and... I'm ready to get HP moving again XD; |

I like the history. Is his sister in Hogwarts, too? |

And... I have no idea o_o; I left some parts out of the history because they didn't really fit that caused the sister to be attending a different school.... I guess she should probably be a third year or something.... hmm.... I don't *really* feel like RPing her XD;;; |

Anyway, considering that and the fact that he was never introduced, I may abandon him in favor of a new character concept, who I hope is less similar to all the other characters on this server. Even if we never restart the HP RP, having re-read all previous six books and started on the last just this summer, my mind has been swirling with Hogwarts-related stuffs. So yeah. |
