She nodded, running after him towards the forest. Under the safety of a large tree, Elise leaned against its trunk and slid down until her rear hit the soft earth below. Her face was probably bright red by now from their run, and she could feel drops of sweat rolling down her face. Maybe I shouldn't have run..., she wondered to herself. Elise leaned foward and removed her robes; they weren't helping her current situation. With a sigh she turned over to look at Victor.

"They still coming?" she asked.

When they came to a stop, he quickly skid to a stop against the dirt ground of the woods, bringing himself down to lay on the ground beside the tree Elise rested against. He studied them with optic, and noticed that they all turned back.

"Yeah..." He whispered, "For now at least..." He cleared his throat and stood up from the ground, walking over to the girl to explain what might happen, "They'll probably send broom-riders to check the forest for us tomorrow, since the banquet is an important event." That's when he realized the condition of Elise, she was red and sweating, yet he was untouched with exhaustion, after all, he did train for this moment.

"Are you alright?" He asked contemptively, reaching out a hand for her to take and help her up, if need be. His other hand held onto Elf which remained on his shoulder, his ears cocked back from all the running.

She nodded, gripping his hand and wrist, using him as an aid to stand up. "Yeah, I'm fine..." she panted. "Just a little tired. I'll be fine..." Elise glanced about the forest; it was cold and dark, and slightly frightening. She shook away the negative thoughts and ran her hand through her hair as her face began to return to it's usual shade of offwhite.

"Jeez... if you wanted to stay away from school this badly I don't see why you even got on the train."

"It was my only way of getting here..." He said firmly, his voice was normal in tone. He then turned and said sarcastically to her, "Why did you get on the train then?" He let out a small smirk, then began to start walking deeper into the woods. He started to speak back to her a little louder, his voice echoing into the darkness of the forest and abck to her ears,

"We'll have to wait a while... Centaurs are very rare, and since it's night time, we'll have a better chance at finding one." He knew that if he found one, he could possibly coax it into finding the one that shot his eye out. Then he could finisht this, 'eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth' is the way he saw it.

Elise pouted, her cheeks puffing out slightly when he questioned her. "Well... that is..." she began, searching for the right answer. When she heard him continue speaking, she stoped, wide-eyed. "A CENTAUR!? Victor, that thing could kill us! We don't know nearly enough magic to protect ourselves against that thing!" she shouted, running up to him and grabbing him by the arm. "Are you... quite sane?" she asked, standing on the tips of her toes and looking into his eye. "Even if you did want to fight one, what are the chances that it'll actually give you the time of day..?"

Being stopped in his stride by the girl, he brought his head back somewhat to keep away from her barking. Elf gave out a low toned growl, seeming frightened from her yelling. He felt uncomfortable to her questioning, but let out a sigh and continued. "Look, I've been training for six years now to take out this creature..."

He pointed up to his eye with one of his digits of the arm Elise wasn't grabbing hold of. "This is revenge." He said, he voice now cold and grim. He let his arm rest at his side, but remained motionless. He then said quietly again, "I know you don't want to fit into that school, but I won't make you come with me... It's your decision..." He let out a sigh and looked off into the woods again, peering left and right between the trees and the darkness. "You don't have to, but if you do, I'll have to think up something to keep you out of trouble..."

He then turned and looked to her again, relaxing his figure from it's stern build again as he tilted his head to one side, awaiting her answer.

OOC:Time warp thingy!!

"Ok, that was a tad odd," Etta frowned as Elise turned and ran out of the Great Hall. She hoped that she didn't offend the new girl. She only wanted to be nice. She turned to Dizzy and looked down at him questioningly. She enjoyed looking down at someone for once. "Should we go after her?"

Watching Elise vanish from view was strange. Juding frm teh direction she was taking, she was going back outside...why? Well, Anthony guessed he had nothing to do here, so, why stay? Although, he was not one to follow the crowd Anthony could not refuse some excuse to get away from the slytherins.

He was already too far into the hall to get out easily. But, Anthony had been in much more serious trials than this. But it would mean that he would have to waste his last Pollux Potion, the family recipe.
Anthony shrugged. What the heck, might as well. Tucking Calibur into his usual pocket, Anthony pulled the last Pollux potion from another and drank the silvery fluid like a shot. Damn! It tasted heavenly, but now was not the time to sit around and appreciate. The invisibility offered by the potion would only last 7 seconds, not much time to escape.

Dashing towards the door as the lightbending abilities of the potion spread through his entire being (and any independent object he was touching, resulting in a vanishing chair) Anthony trailed after Elise.

Hopefully nobody would notice his absence.

Artemis, having flown from the train into the castle a bit before the train stopped on his Nimbus 2000, the only real thing he owned of much value, was just entering the room he'd been provided. He was to be shown his office after the ceremonies, but for now he just needed a place to toss his junk. He was greatly pleased about his accommodations -- they were much larger than his apartment in London (no shock there), and had a great view of the grounds, especially the Quiddich field. Though he'd once had aspirations of becoming a famous, professional Quiddich player, he'd quickly decided that this was not a great idea. Although it was most certainly true that it would be fun and lucrative, he would not have as many opportunities to experiment with his magic. Of course, due to being in the public eye as much as he would be, playing pranks would certainly be out of the question!

As was his style, Artemis had just finished opening his trunk and making a veritable mess of the contents, making sure he new what all was in it, when he decided to open up the windows and take in some fresh air. What he saw was surprising. Two young students -- perhaps a girl and a boy, judging by the hair -- were out in the Quiddich field. Then, as he watched, they made their way towards the Forbidden Forest. A glance at his watch told the new teacher that he should be heading towards the Great Hall, but he figured Dumbledore would forgive him in a case like this. But would McGonnagal? Ah, well... I've a whole year to get back on her good side, he thought. He then began to wonder if he had ever been on her good side, but decided to stow that thought for another moment when time wasn't of such importance. Using a spell he'd invented -- mainly just for party tricks -- he flicked and swirled his wand at a piece of parchment on the desk, then aimed his wand towards his broom -- not once removing his eyes from the students -- and shouted "Accio!" Instantly, the broom flew to his hand. As he did this, ink seemed to flow upon the parchment, reading:

Sir --
Urgent matters, will be late; may not arrive. Don't wait up!

Your favorite student/teacher,
Artemis

As the final letters appeared, it began to fold itself up into a paper airplane, and floated out of the room, seeking Albus Dumbledore in the Great Hall. Meanwhile, Artemis had leapt onto his broom and out his window, flying with haste towards the dark forest before him. The night wind blew through his hair and robes as he flew towards where he'd last spotted the two. He was pleased to notice that the cold wind from being on top of the train had caused his hair to become much more normal, and the scent had altogether disappeared. When he was a couple yards from the ground, he hopped off, landing with a light "thud." The broom swooped upwards, and returned to the open window, as though an invisible rider had hopped on. Not too far in, he heard some slightly muffled voices, and began to move towards them. His wand was in a pocket, but he was prepared to whip it out at a moment's notice.

The teacher shortly caught up with the two, and was almost surprised to recognize them. It was Elise and Victor, from the train! He hoped they wouldn't recognize him -- he did, of course, look completely different without the accent, the illusion, and the clothes. Taking a step into the clearing, he looked upon them with a grave seriousness in his expression that was almost never seen there.

"What are you two doing out here?" Artemis asked them, the seriousness in his expression reflected in his voice. "Elise I can forgive, because you're new and don't know the rules, but Victor! You've been here five years already, you should know that you're not allowed in this forest, especially at this time of night! You better have a really good story, because "I thought it'd be a great joke to get killed in the Forbidden Forest on the first day of the term, haha!" is not going to cut it. Sorry, you get "haha" from me, and I have a pretty good sense of humor."

Having taken a step now around Elise, continuing to walk into the forest, he abruptly turned to see Artemis coming out from the darkness. As to his questioning, he looked over to Elise, his eye winced slightly, unnoticable to her sight from the darkness, and the moon's light becoming blocked from his long hair.

He then spoke out in a firm tone to Artemis, leaving more of a questioning to him than an answer, "Don't tell me you forgot why I am here, Artemis?" He then gestured to his eye, giving a rapid nodding of his head, being stressed out enough as it is. He then said in a more commanding tone, "I don't plan on heading back as well..."

To this he turned his back from Artemis, the side left unexposed to the teacher as he turned, he took oppurtunity to grab his wand and wield it, for in case he tried something. He did not wanting this Centaur to live another year with both eyes in his head. He awaited Artemis' move...

Elise jumped when she saw the teacher; she hadn't heard him. "Ah... Teacher... uhm..." she mumbled, looking back and forth from Victor to Artemis. She shuffled over to Victor and grabbed his arm. Standing on the tips of her toes, she whispered into his ear: "We should probably head back.. y'know. This teacher will definately be able to take us back.. no doubt." Elise, who wasn't keen on the idea of being completely and utterly humiliated by a teacher, released Victor's arm and stepped backwards. She put her left arm behind her back and gripped her right arm, stepping in reverse in Artemis' direction.

Artemis hadn't forgotten the terrible events of that day. In fact, it was one of the events he remembered most about during his days at Hogwarts -- pranks aside, of course. Although he had been several years Victor's senior and not witnessed the incident himself, it was the talk of the castle for several weeks, which was quite a long time for a place like Hogwarts. He remembered passing by the hospital wing -- usually visiting the victim of a prank involving experimental items of joy, the effects of which had lasted much longer or had been more potent than expected -- and seeing Victor in the corner, usually by himself, but often with small gifts from well-wishers who had heard about his assault. A centuar being out in the open during day like that was one thing, but for it to attack someone was highly strange. The worst story Artemis had heard, though the most likely, was that someone had played some sort of prank on the Centuar, which angered it. The rest of the story can be inferred, of course. Even Artemis decided not to pull any pranks for a few days! Once Victor had recovered, Artemis never really heard of him again, and he never really thought much about it, although he did decide that playing pranks on magical creatures was definately a no-no, and that the Forbidden Forest had that name for a good reason.

Cautiously, Artemis took a step forward. He nodded to Elise as she stepped back, hoping she would come with him without much fuss, as it looked like she was doing. Now, the trouble would be Victor. He certainly looked and sounded very dertermined; this would require some quick negotiations, or else some quick spell-work, which the young teacher felt more than ready for, if there was need for it.

"Victor, I know that you're angry, but vengeance usually doesn't go the way you hope it will," Artemis said cautiously, rolling up his sleeves. "I think you know that this isn't going to make you happy. You have a great will to have stuck with this school, even after what you've been through. Even if you do kill this centuar, what will it bring? The satisfaction that you've injured another intelligent being? That you've "payed back" this creature for a simple accident? If I've heard right, he wasn't aiming for you." Artemis paused, hoping to let his words sink in before he offered another line of thought.

"Listen Victor, there are so many things you can do in this life; you don't want to waste this one, because it's the only one you've got. I understand that this is important to you right now, but it's not the end-all, beat-all answer. You can be a great wizard and help many people, you can prevent tragedies like what happened to you! I know I'm not as old as some other teachers here who can tell you all sorts of things you can do with your life, but maybe that's good. I can tell you now, being only a few years ahead of you, that if I'd been maimed or killed in an attempt to get revenge, I would not be in any sort of good mood. I'd still be back in that shit-hole of an apartment, with no real job and probably a lot of empty bottles of booze in the corner, where my clothes usually are." Another pause as Artemis sighed, rubbing his eyes with his left hand.

"That anger could also be vented well as a teacher, you know," Artemis added, with a wink. "Ask McGonagall, I bet she'd tell ya!"

He lowered his head to look to the ground. What Artemis spoke of was the truth. What would he gain from taking the eye of the beast that took his? He thought to himself for a moment. Then came to an answer, his voice still low and almost a whisper.

"Dignity." He simply said. Turning quickly and throwing out his hand and wand, he then let out a shout that echoed through the woods.

"Petrificus Totalus!!"

Almost seeming a bullet-time affect in space, everything seemed to slow down in Victor's mind. He precised everything he saw as he locked onto Artemis's figure. He could see within his sights the transparent wave of the magic. He had trained himself to an extent that he could see the work of magic before him, only if he sent it out though. He couldn't figure out how to see another's power though, thus the outcome on the train with Katsu. If he could figure this out, he would be a master at deflecting spells brought upon him. His mind was set in stone, waiting for the outcome of his casting...

OOC:time warp again...

Dizzy shook his head, his hand coming across his face to brush a few strands of hair from his eyes.

"We can't, Etta." he said, looking at her. "Hagrid's being extra careful now, and from the looks of it..." He looked to the teachers table. A seat was empty, one teacher was missing. Doing a quick head count, Dizzy saw that the Defense against the Dark Arts teacher was not at the table. Dizzy took a moment and realized that the reason Artemis had come was because HE was the new teacher. But his lateness, however, was quite irregular, because Artemis wasn't someone to show up late.

"My guess is that Artemis came here as the new teacher. That's why he was on the train. One last prank before he had to get serious." Dizzy said quickly, "And, right now, he's not here. Maybe he saw where they went off to, and..." He broke off again, seeing the end seat at the Slytherin table was missing.

"Oh, crap." he said, slapping a palm to his face. "Our dear alchemist is already in pursuit. There isn't much we can do..."

Watching unseen from within that ditch that made an inner ring below the seats on the Quidditch field was something new to Anthony. Personally, he hated Quidditch, not really as a sport - sports were okay - but for its merchandising and the major praise it received from the general magic public. Most people liked the sport and denounced anyone who did not. It was like it was out of jurisdiction to not like Quidditch. That is why Anthony did not like Quidditch.

Newer still was seeing a one-eyed student try to hex a teacher - he surmised it was a teacher from the reactions given by the fugitive students. Anthony's Pollux potion had already worn off and with this distraction perhaps this could be his chance to move out...
