Figuring he could sleep later -- tomorrow, or rather today, now, is a Saturday -- he flips open his laptop and pushes the on button. A soft, barely audible "whirr" signals that it's running, and then the monitor comes to life, the DigitsOS logo in the center of the "loading" screen. He grabs his glasses, and when he puts them on, it's loaded up and at the desktop.
"Run Silverhearts," he says groggily. His laptop bleeps twice, and the screen changes to show the SilverHearts logo. It instantly loads the character select screen -- the servers were just in the other room -- and Digits clicks chooses the Teltreon server. His customized Elf/Vampire character, Nenshoukaze, looked up at him in his high-level armor. He sets his glasses back on the table and puts on his special wireless headset then says the command "Connect."[/color:e8759cb53f] Now in the game, Nenshoukaze looks about. He is in the town square, and even at this late hour many people are on -- Mostly the international crew and the obsessed people with no life and no job. He waves to a few that he knows, then sets off towards the places he could find some NPCs who could give him missions. |

"Open Silver Hearts." He mutters to himself, as he opens the program, trying to rub sleep out of his eyes -- all the while wishing he had a voice command module. Then he clicked on connect.[/color:67adf5b51b]
Shirokaze looked around. He was in a town. He recognized it as the one he had been in last time he was online. He walked around, hoping to find another char, but sadly, there were none that he recognized in the area, but he decided to ask one for help. He went up to what appeared to be an elf crossbreed. "Excuse me," he said, "Do you know where there are any Missions around here? I am a little bit short on money..." |

He appeared to be a low-level archer; elf. If he were on his Sys-Admin character he could identify every stat about him. However, he wasn't, so the Consider command as well as his Identify skill were as close as he could get. He was about to say "no" to the seeming n00b, but then remembered he had "helper" status active on this server. He sighs, then stops walking and turns around, resting his left arm on the hilt of a sword at his waist.
"Sure thing, kid. I was on my way to find a mission myself, actually," he says aloud. "If you accompany me, I can give you seventy percent of the payment -- I don't really need that much money anymore. So what do you say?" |

"Right then, follow me," he says and begins to walk forwards. He walks past groups of people discussing anything from politics to anime to in-game events and items. All of them were unaware that the programmer of the game was walking amonst them. Of course, though, that was the idea. Even so, this character was well known because of his high level, incredible agility, and willingness to help new players. If he wanted, he could point out at least three high level PCs that he'd helped back when they couldn't tell the difference between an PC and an NPC. "Well, here we are," he says having finally reached his destination. He tells Asai to wait for a moment, and begins speaking with a nearby NPC who looked like she might be a swordswoman of some type. He nods and turns back to Asai "Alright, we've got ourselves a misison," Nenshoukaze tells Asai. "We have to illiminate a small pack of vrelts. It should be pretty easy for a low-level like you." |

Shirokaze nodded. "Very well, " he said, "We shall eliminate the vrelts then. And 70% is good enough for me. Let's go then." |

"Right, now if my knowledge of this area is correct, we should be able to just walk outside town a bit," Nenshoukaze says. "Shouldn't be too far away." And so he walks casually towards the north end of town, his arms swaying gently at his sides. After a few moments of walking through luscious green plains and over rolling hills, they arrive. There are no other players around, but about twenty meters away there is a small herd of vrelts -- fairly low level creatures which look like a cross between a Doberman and a very large rat. Nenshoukaze unsheaths the sword at his side -- what appears to be a katana with an extended blade -- and holds it calmly to his side. "When you're ready," he says, putting his left hand on the base of the hilt, "Fire a couple arrows at 'em. If they get too close, I'll take care of it before it does too much damage to ya." |
| Sauder Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 131 | [color=blue:61162f3b58]Sauder wasn't even asleep at 1:30 in the morning. Fueled on caffine he opened up his custom laptop. Digits' OS came up after no time at all. "Instalize Silver Hearts. Load Keisuke," he muttered into the microphone. He flips on the goggles and a huge grin appears across his face. A character with demon like stats and abilities but the appearence of a human stares back at him. "The demon has reawoken," he said still grinning.[/color:61162f3b58]
Keisuke looks around seeing new characters appear left and right. Even though he used to be one himself he hates newbies and doesn't see why Digits helps them. He tracks Digits' character using a tracker, an advantage of having him on his friends list. He runs over to Nenshoukaze and then sighs heaviliy. "Again with the newbies 'Kaze? Let me guess," he says. Then, in a very high pitched whiny voice, "Can you help me with my mission?" He said this and smiled with a demon grin at the Asai. |
| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | Shirokaze had already nocked an arrow when the stranger had appeared. He almost loosed it in shock, but managed to stop himself in time. He turned around to see who the stranger was. He was a demon like character and appeared to know his helper. He frowned at his remark, somewhat offended.
"If you'll excuse me for a minute, I'm going to shoot some of those vrelts over there. Talk to me again when I'm done." He said. He turned around and began to loose arrows at them, and being a noob char, his shot wasn't very good. It took three shots to take down the first vrelt, and the others began to charge his way. He quickly nocked another arrow, and fired at another vrelt, trying to hit it in the eye. Instead of hitting his target in the eye, he nailed him in the lower jaw. He then proceded to shot three more arrows, and each one went wide. "Damnit." he muttered. He nocked yet another arrow and this one went straight into it's back. Another arrow; this time it hit the beast through the heart when it bounded. Another one down... he thought. And 10 more to go...crap. He nocked another arrow and shot it. Another miss. He nocked another. He hit it in the back leg. It stopped running at him, and fiercly tried to pull it out. He shot two more arrows that missed, and by stroke of luck, scored through the brain of one. Wait a second, wasn't I aiming at the one over there? he thought. He shrugged and kept shooting until they came to close for the bow. He drew the knife he had bought the last time he had been on. He swiftly struck into the nearest one's skull, hoping he hit deep enough. |

Nenshoukaze moves swiftly to Shirokaze with such speed that one may have mistaken it for a teleportation spell, catches his footing, then zooms forward again, slicing wide. He plants his foot firmly on the ground a meter or so on the other side of Shirokaze, then turns around as six of the vrelts heads slide off. The vrelts now turn their attention to Nenshoukaze, who grins an evil grin at them. The vrelts freeze.
"Now's your chance," he says to Shirokaze. "Nail them point-blank in the skull while they're still intimidated." |

Shirokaze nodded. He shot arrow after arrow into their skulls. It was indeed, much easier, at point blank range. Soon, all the vrelts were dead. He held he hand out to Nenshoukaze. "Thank you very much. I probably would have been torn apart, I missed several of them. I am willing to go 50% with you on this for your help. Will you accept?" He asked, meaning every word he said. |

"That's alright," he says jovially. "I didn't really need the money in the first place. Just chump change for higher levels, you know. Here's a couple plat pieces. Go buy a good bow and some light armor." Suddenly, he hears a rumble, and the ground shakes. "What the hell?" He looks around, only to see a gigantic monster some 80 meters away, lumbering towards them. It looked quite similar to a Tyrannosaurus Rex, but much larger, and much more powerful. "What the hell!" Nenshoukaze repeats, yelling it more this time. "This is a frigging newbie zone! There shouldn't be any high-level monsters like that!" He takes out what appears to be a small ruby and puts it into a small indent at the base of his sword hilt, causing the whole weapon to glow an eerie shade of red. "Yo, Shirokaze, you might want to leave," he says, sounding slightly nervous. "Keisuke, I'm prolly gonna need your help, bro." |
| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | It took a few moments for the fact to register that a large, evil dinosaur on a warpath was in the area designated for new players. What the everliving God almighty is that?! he thought. Not entirely ready to abandon the man who just saved his life, Shirokaze leaped behind a tree. He nocked an arrow, and hoped that they wouldn't have to rely on his poor accuracy skills. |

His velocity was such that the wind could be seen flying over the blade of his sword. He plants an armored boot on the ground and kicks off, flying upwards. He drags his sword upwards through the belly of the beast, then kicks off of its head, falling down to the ground with a "thud" and "shank" from his armor. He looks up at the monster to see what kind of damage he did.
It wasn't even scratched. "Ah shit..." he yells. "This is NOT good!" |

Kaze was the second strongest character in the game in his opinion (he was feeling extremely cocky). This still made him unsure of his chances. He realized that he was looking nervous in the game and couldn't let the newb see that. He started to grin again with a dim daemonic aura growing around him. he drew his sword, and charged. He slashed multiple times at his foe, on the final time, his sword shattered and fell in pieces to the ground.
"God Damnit, That was my favorite one too!," he screamed his voice went gone from confident to shaky and unsure. "His sword was supposedly unbreakable and he had put it to strenious use for almost a year now, and it always remained shiny and scratchless. This thing breaks the unbreakable and bends all rules," he muttered in shock. |
