My best friend at Hogwarts was actually in the same position, so... yeah.'
Morrighan looked a little sad, and signed the last words slower. But she quickly recovered. It was as if she was remembering something painful. "But yeah... why are you signing? The only person that can't is Patrick, and he's not even here." Morrighan pointed to Bob. "Aw, jeez. I won't repeat what you said, he'd beat you up." Bob growled, looking to Morrighan and then to James. He extended his claws and went to leap for James, but Morrighan caught him deftly in-flight, and set him back down again on her lap. "Shht!" She hissed at him, pointing. "No. Calm and submissive, or I won't let you go, Catzilla." She was serious--she had him on the scruff with a firm grip. She shrugged. "Yeah... I found him about three years ago. It wasn't anything I've fed him that made him this huge, but I dunno about the people before." OOC:>__< Poor Morrighan. I made her a best friend, then killed him 5 mins later >__>
The story: she had a best friend, someone she might have even loved, who was deaf and dumb. He wanted to be an auror. Unfortunately, he also had another birth defect: congenital heart disease. He died just months before graduation. So, Morrighan vowed to be an auror for him, since she had been thinking of it, and knew it would make him happy in heaven ;) His name was Miles Henley. Obviously they met first year in the sorting line xD |

"Yeah, I can sign all the important stuff," she remarked casually, with a rather rude hand gesture toward the new teacher. Her grin widened. "How's that?" |

"I forgot about you... ha, yeah, unless you know deaf and mute people, that's about all the sign language you need to know!"
Patrick came down the hall, then entered the car. He was carrying a scroll of instructions, which he promptly stuffed in his cloak pocket. Faye jumped down from his neck and joined Bob on Morrighan's lap. "Bloody hell, are we playing Sardines?" Patrick said, rolling his eyes and shaking his head. OOC:I dunno what else to do >__> |

I doubt anyone's going to meet him until they get off the train. Oh, and I love the idea of our three teachers knowing each other. Also Dan, I have an idea, lemme know what you think. Artemis and Sophine were THE Couple while they were at Hogwarts. It's kind of funny, Hufflepuff's Honey and Ravenclaw's Rascal, heehee... Then when they graduated, Sophine went back to France and eventually the owls became less and less frequent until they stopped altogether. Anywho, just a suggestion.
~*Meanwhile~A few cars back...*~ "So what brings you to England?" asked a sixth year Griffindor excitedly. She flipped her hair over her shoulder and batted her eyes excessively. She was surrounded by her friends and other girls wanting to get a glimpse at the new American boy. Whispers and giggles filled the car as girls craned their necks and jumped up and down in hopes to satisfy their curiosity. "Why all th' beautiful English chicks, o' course," the new student said in his outlandish accent as he smiled easily at her. This sent the girls into fits of giggles and squeal of approval, and many gushed over his accent and how snoggable he was. It was an ear piercing sound and the Great Horned owl, Edison, hooted his annoyance, puffed his chest and flapped his wings inside the cage, but the American kept his kind, easy-going smile plastered on his face began to pluck at the strings of his banjo idly. That's what had started all this hullabaloo in the first place; the sound had aroused the initial curiosity and now there was no getting rid of them. If anything, they had multiplied. Hey, it could be worse, he thought to himself as he shook away the sandy hair that had fallen in his eyes. Then his hazel eyes drifted over the crowd of admirers. They could be ugly. And what the heck is a snog? Any hopes of getting a bit of privacy on the train were gone, so changing into the uniform was out of the question. Which was fine with him, the farm boy preferred his normal clothes anyway, and at his old school, they never had to wear uniforms. He was currently relaxing in a well-loved, red plaid flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled up over his elbows, old leather cowboy boots, and his worn, faded jeans with a stubborn grass stain on the left knee and a hole in the right knee from when he had tried to hex the other grass stain away. Needless to say that his mother never let him touch his laundry or anyone else's after that. A shy-looking girl with glasses and blond frizzy hair caught his eye when another girl tried to shove her aside. He frowned slightly, and tilted his head, looking straight at her. "Whoa,'old up ther," he said, he held out his hand to the shy girl, but the pushy girl tried to take it and he drew away slightly. "No not you, you." Both girls turned red in an instant, but Frizzy reached out and took his hand, and he pulled her into the seat next to him which was little more than a two inch gap causing the Griffindor to be pushed aside. "Well, now ain't you prettier than a tall glass o' water in the middle of the desert at noon? What's yer name?" She didn't answer, but she stared at her knees and wrung her hands nervously instead. He scratched his nose and leaned over a bit. "Well, somethin' as cute as you should have a name t' match right?" She turned redder, and bit her lip. He leaned back and tilted his head, ignoring the other girls for a moment. "Is it some big secret or somethin'?" he asked with a mischievous grin. She shook her head and softly said her name was Marie. "Ther now, that wasn' so hard, wuz it? A pretty name fer a pretty gal. I knew it," he laughed and leaned back in his seat and played a quick cheerful diddy on his banjo. She smiled back at him, pushed her glasses up higher on the bridge of her nose, and sat up a little straighter. The rest of the time the American entertained his audience as he sang and played the banjo, made fun of the French, talked about his life in America, and flirted and hit on every girl that he met. There was never a dull, or quiet, moment, and while he seemed to enjoy himself, poor Edison glared at him disapprovingly, hooting and flapping his wings whenever the crowd was too loud. OOC:Wow... i didn't mean for it to be this long. |

Her brother's look of warning flashed in her mind briefly, but this time she simply couldn't restrain herself.
"I can't believe you would use such a... such a vulgar sign!" she exclaimed, her face turning a light shade of red. "Why, if my brother were here, he would be... he would... well he would probably be calm and relaxed. B-but I wouldn't -- I mean, I'm not! That's very -- " But before she could elaborate, she felt a gentle hand on her shoulder and stopped speaking immediately, spinning around to come face to face with Felix. He looked at her as a father might look at a child who just fell into a large puddle of mud, as if to say "I don't know what you were yelling, but I'm sure it was unnecessary." After playfully tousling her hair he flopped back into his seat. Elayne bit her lip and turned back to Evangeline, her cheeks now an even deeper shade of red. "I -- err -- sorry." |

Evangeline watched with growing amusement as Elayne's expression went from horrified to furious to absolutely mortified. It was, she thought, rather like watching a ripening tomato in fast-forward. This thought brought a snicker to her lips, and although it might have been misconstrued as laughter at poor little Elayne's expense, Evangeline made no attempt to apologize. Nor did she verbally acknowledge the girl's apology-- she did not consider herself one to observe such formalities. Instead she only said with a shrug, "Hey, at least I wasn't using it on you." She brought her hands up to rest behind her head, and shot Elayne a playful wink. "Learned that one from a nun, too, by the way." |

She leaned over to look out the window, and Bob gripped a little tighter with his claws so that he didn't fall off her lap. "It looks like we're two thirds of the way there already! My, how time passes." Patrick squished in next to her, sulky expression on his face. We'd better get there soon... I've had just about enough of these... miscreants. He huffed a little. OOC:Ok, so can we like pick up the pace for serious? I'd say in one more full turn we get there, unless somehow it can get shorter...
I just don't want this rp to die stuck on the train >_> |

The train pulled to a stop and she stood up to pull her bags from the rack, very nearly thumping Morrighan in the head with her trunk and making no effort to miss Bob. (Nor did she apologize afterward. She didn't like cats.) ((There. They're there.) |

Bob's eyes gleamed evilly, suggesting that sooner rather than later, he would make Van pay. Morrighan sighed. "It kind of is, I guess. But parts of it smell of mold and cold, dead things and it really creeps me out... Which reminds me, I need to talk to the headmaster. I really don't like practicing inside, so I shall see if I can get one of the practice fields." My forehead itches... and so does my back, she thought. Whoops, better get out of the train pretty soon, then. It has been some time... As soon as she thought this, a pair of dragon horns sprung from her forehead and began to grow. Luckily, she willed them to stay a manageable size. "Holy shit," Patrick said. "Uhm.... yeah, I still haven't got the knack for it down just yet." Morrighan smiled sheepishly. "If you would please take my bags and Bob to the castle for me while I stretch my wings." "Sure," Patrick answered, still slightly confused by the sudden transformation. "Hey, will you guys please help me? I'm not nearly as strong as my sister, and those bags look pretty heavy." Morrighan ran out of the train just as it screeched to a stop, pushing Hagrid and others aside to get to the woods. "Wut'n tha worl'?" He said, looking to the spectacle in the forest. A young woman with dragon horns entered, but a full fledged dragon emerged. She did loops high above the school, taunting the lake monster and whomping willow occasionally. OOC:Uh.. whatevs... |

He looked up to see his sister pointing out into the hall with an almost childish giddiness that she didn't bother disguising. When Felix looked to where she was pointing, it became clear immediately what she was so thrilled about. Conveniently placed in the hall -- as many students were noticing, based on the shrieks of delight that echoed throughout the train -- were several boxes filled variously of jewelry and coins, and topped with a sign reading "Back to School Gifts." Though intrigued by this, Felix's gut filled with a decidedly strong sense of foreboding. Such things did not simply happen without some sort of sinister intention behind them.
Swiftly, Felix beckoned Patrick to follow him, unceremoniously shoved his sister back into her seat and motioned for her to stay, then rushed out into the aisle. In an instant he'd pulled his wand from his robes and deftly conjured heavy lids to cover the boxes. Though there were still several people leaning out of their compartments looking very upset with Felix, the rest had a much different expression plastered on their faces -- fear. Nearly all of the first years in the compartment -- and an alarming amount of upperclassmen as well -- were tossing away their treasures in horror, staring at burn marks in their hands. What they didn't notice immediately was that similar burn marks were appearing on their foreheads. Felix was slowed in his momentum when he noticed that the burns were not random, but had a very similar look. After a few seconds it became clear -- they were letters which spelled "OOPS." So someone had pulled a huge prank that had, apparently, been hugely successful. Felix suppressed a grin, covering for it by covering his face with his hand as though in frustration and irritation. After taking a short break to compose himself, he walked up to the nearest student. He flashed his Prefect badge then pointed his wand at the burn mark on the poor kid's forehead. Every spell he could think of had no apparent effect, but it was only after he attempted a certain Transfiguration spell which seemed to make the burn more prominent that he gave up. Quickly, he summoned parchment and quills from his bag, bewitched them to write a message to explain what he'd found, then bewitched the letters to fold into paper airplanes and sent them off through the train. He hoped that the Head Boy and Girl had figured it out already, but it never hurt to be overly cautious. Wand still out, he leaned back into the compartment and signed the situation to his sister. Elayne looked particularly embarrassed that she was nearly one of the "OOPS" students, but relayed the message to everyone else. |

Dumb kid deserved it, she thought, leaning casually against the wall with her arms crossed into a clear yeah-I'm-a-jerk-but-at-least-I-ain't-stupid stance. Whoever had pulled this was bright, to say the least, though she couldn't help but think them a little cowardly. They hadn't even come out with it and taken their bows. Sure, they'd get in trouble-- but, mon dieu, it would've been hilarious...
She glanced over at Elayne, who looked as shaken as she did relieved. Her eyes traveled down to the nearest piece of jewelry, a gold-and-sapphire pendent lying on the floor just outside the compartment. It must have gotten thrown around in the chaos, and as it was the closest, it was very likely the one Elayne would have gone for had her brother not stopped her. She unconsciously fingered her own earring, whose gemstone happened to match the hexed pendent. Normally she only toyed with it when she was nervous or trying hard not to show her anger; it was one of a very few clues that hinted that, perhaps, she was not always as happy as she appeared. Now, however, her mood was not affected. More likely, she had just seen the sapphire and made the unconscious connection as simply as that. "Wasn't your color, anyway." |

"Patrick," she said, voice low and grumbling, hot breath smelling of brimstone. "What fresh hell is this?"
"A prank," He answered, sounding peeved. "Hey, hey, don't touch that!!" He called to a first year particularly stricken with the shiny jewelry. But, he was too late. She staggered back, clutching her hand and crying. Patrick said to Felix, "Good thinking, Felix!" He then turned to the kids getting off of the train, and called out, "Hey!! No one touch the treasure, it's cursed! And if you have been cursed, go straight to the clinic." Morrighan grumbled. "Argh... well, I dunno how we're gonna get rid of this crap that some chicken-shit left, but for now... I think this will do." She picked up the boxes with her claws, and placed them in front of her, staring menacingly at any children that looked at the treasure. Patrick did another double take. "So, you uh..." He paused to direct traffic for a bit. "Yeah, I'm a dragon," Morrighan said, laughing a dragon's laugh, something that sounded like half earthquake and half emphysema. OOC:I dunnoe, lol >_O |
