"Actually," said Gina, catching up to the shorter girl with only a few long strides, "I think I can find my way around all right. I'd like to see the dorms, maybe take some time to settle in and all." She smiled, turning toward the Belgian girl. "If that's all right with you two, of course." |

He was very careful to not even glance in that direction, if he was paying attention at all. It was invisible, and wouldn't be destroyed when someone tripped over it. He was hoping to catch several people as they started to leave to go to bed, which was more than likely as dinner was soon ending. It would be a hell of a way to start the year, he decided. Who knows? He might even catch Sir Artemis Windaker Burton himself! |

"Thanks," Genji said with a vague smile and a slight inclination of his head. He walked away from the kitchen holding between his hands a rather large mug of steaming-hot coffee. It was a rather bad habit of his to skip out on meals and simply sneak some coffee from one the various house elves in the kitchen with whom he'd made friends. It wasn't that he didn't like the food or that he was anorexic or otherwise worried about his weight. There were just times when he simply didn't feel like eating. This was one of the most peculiar things about him, but he never paid it any attention. He felt healthy enough and was never particularly hungry, so he figured it was fine. As Genji made his way towards the staircase, he happened by the Great Hall. At first he intended to simply pass it by. Then, he noticed that prankster accompanied by two girls whom he'd never seen before. They must be new, he thought to himself, sipping the still-hot coffee. He hesitated for a moment, then decided to see what Etta was up to. After all, he wouldn't put it past her or that James to prank unsuspecting transfers or first years -- especially first years. "Would you two happen to be new here?" he asked pleasantly. Glancing at her doubtfully, yet with a vaguely playful grin, he said to Etta, "I trust you're being a 'good' tour guide?" "I'm Genji, sixth year Ravenclaw," he explained, turning back to the new students. "If you need help, ask." OOC: Let's also pretend that they have coffee at Hogwarts... |

Her nose wrinkled at the sharp scent of coffee, but grinned at her fellow Ravenclawian. (Yeah, that's right, I just made that up! Oh! What now?!)
"Aw, Genji, of course, I'm being good," Etta said with mock sorrow. The invisible tripline stretched between the two unsuspecting students. "It's like you think I'm up to something. Where has the trust gone, my friend? Where has it all gone? Anywho," she dropped the dramtic flair as she turned to the new students. "Genji, here is a wizard- excuse the pun- at school work. If you need help, he's more than willing to give it." |

Her left shoelace had been untied for some time, and at that moment, she stepped on it, tripping herself. She fell flat on her face, the tip of one of her fingers brushing Disino's magical tripline. She poked it again, giggling softly. Melia got up and dusted herself off, saying, "I'm fine, I'm fine!" Melia stepped over the tripline and tied her shoelaces. I tripped on my own before the tripline could get me, she thought, How ironic! Stahlflugel knew full well that if she hadn't fallen, she would have blundered right into the trap. |

"You okay?" she asked, not missing Melia's brush with the tripline. She couldn't see it, but Gina knew well that not everything important could be seen.
She stood up, smiled, and stepped out of the Great Hall, walking neatly over the tripline. "Thanks," she said, extending one hand toward Genji, palm up-- this had become a habit of hers; it wasn't that others didn't trust her enough to shake hands facedown. It was more an issue of her not trusting them, and she tended to project that mistrust onto others. Besides, she had nothing to hide and no wish to pull anything on this guy. He seemed nice. "Didn't know they had that," she said, motioning toward his cup of coffee. "I'd kill for a cuppa right now. Didn't have 'em at the tables." OOC:There. I posted. :P |

Oh, and thank you ^^ Genji briefly considered helping Melia stand up, but she clearly didn't need the help. Besides, he felt no particular need to impress the new students and Gina had beaten him to it either way. He was about to turn towards the staircase when he heard Gina comment on his coffee. "They don't have it," he said, the corner of his mouth only barely a grin. "But it's amazing what those house elves can do if you're nice to 'em." He almost reluctantly took a sip of the hot liquid, looking into it thoughtfully. Then, after just a short pause he looked up and placed the mug into Gina's outstretched hand with nothing more than an encouraging nod. She needs it more than I, Genji mused as he turned to head towards the Ravenclaw common room. Transferring in your sixth year... that's pretty harsh. |

Gina stood there for a moment, stunned, the mug pleasantly warm in her hands. Not quite the handshake she'd been expecting, but hardly a disappointment. She sniffed at it gingerly, not entirely sure how the English made their coffee-- she'd heard horror tales of weak brews and too much cream and sugar. This seemed all right, though. She took a careful sip, and was surprised to find that it actually tasted quite good. "Thanks," she said, looking up, only to find that Genji was already halfway down the hall. "Er..." Not much of a talker, I guess. She turned back to the girls. "Is that the direction of the common room?" she asked Etta, gesturing in the general direction Genji had taken and taking another long sip of coffee. |

It was odd, because it sounded distinctly like words were mixed in. It sounded something like, "someone post." But, that could have been, "it's just a ghost." Or, perhaps it actually was all the work of a castle poltergeist.
He did think that someone should do something, though. OOC: ... |

She had heard that she was quite a character, and might spice up this roleplay with a Ryoga/Ranma or Gai/Kakashi-like rivalry with the Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher... but maybe that was just hearsay.
Melia turned her head around. "Did you hear that?" She said. "It sounded like, 'somebody post!' I wonder what that could mean... Or maybe it was, 'just a ghost...' Now I'm not really sure... How wierd." She scratched her head. "Anyways... That seems to be the common room," She answered Gina, following Genji to the door, which was... a talking painting. "Password!" It said, which startled Melia. "Oh... oh my," She exclaimed. "Er, Miss Guide Lady, what's the password?" OOC:I DUN' POSTED :B |
