OOC: The first time she meets Riley? What about when she first meets Esme? XD;

"Hey, you know me," Riley replied, glancing out of the corner of his eye at the radar and turning to trail Savage, "I'm always ready to get down to business." They entered the atmosphere and Savage's small ship came into view. The pilot threw a few switches and threw a lever and the Angel slowed down rapidly, deployed its landing struts, and set down gently in a large, nearby landing zone.

Riley stood up and looked at Esmeralda. "Keep your shirt on, honey," he joked with a grin, "I'm sure it'll be hard for you, but we've got to get this done first. We'd better help that fool before he falls madly in love with this girl or something." He hopped out of his seat and rushed to the closet, grabbed his jacket and threw it on.

"You coming? Or do you need some help?"

OOC: He's not always this bad... ^^; Esme's just a bad influence. Or maybe she's a good influence -- it wouldn't be quite as interesting without their banter XD;

OOC:Lol... fair enough.

"Ain't want none of your help."

Esmeralda stood up from her seat, thinking that it'd be just their luck if Savage did fall in love with this bounty and refuse to turn her in. Irony, she might have called it, if she'd known exactly what irony was. As it was, she could only describe that possibility as strangely funny, in a not-so-funny kind of way.

She pulled a roll of extra-strength double-sided tape from one of the pouches attached to her belt (it was a vital part of her wardrobe, and she always kept some on hand; without it, shirts and undergarments couldn't be relied on to stay put. At least, the type she wore couldn't) and pulled a few strips off. She adjusted her clothes unabashedly, hardly noticing that she had to practically take it off in order to get the tape beneath the fabric.

In truth, it hadn't shrunk that much, and with the tape holding it together she was able to get it buttoned again. "There," she said, satisfied with her achievement. "It fits." She glanced up at him, her eyes merry. "Know you're disappointed, but it's like you said-- fool's gonna screw up if we ain't there to help." She considered picking up her jacket, and decided against it. It looked like a lovely day, and besides, Riley had one that she could pinch if she really needed to. "Let's go, then."

OOC:Or maybe Riley's a bad influence on Esmeralda.
...nevermind. ><

OOC: I think we can agree that they're both (especially when they're together) a very bad influence on everybody XD

Riley nodded, pressing a button on the wall. The ramp lowered as he threw on a pair of almost unexpectedly nice shoes. As he walked out into the brisk air, he almost began to regret not grabbing a shirt. Almost. Still, he was already out and going back would take far more effort than he cared to expend. Instead, he adjusted his scarf and wrapped it properly, and buttoned up the jacket.

"I think him done gone this way," Riley said, pointing towards a rather blue building. He was, of course, teasing her about her grammar again. Without waiting, he continued to walk, although slowly. He had no intention of helping Savage by himself -- that would just be ridiculous. "C'mon, I want to get back to getting nothing done because I'm admiring yo-- your well-put-together outfit."

OOC: PS: His pistol is in a pocket in the jacket

Esmeralda grinned, and sped up until she managed to catch up with him, ignoring the crack about her grammar (if she'd even noticed it, that is.) "Yeah, I think he gone that way," she agreed, glancing back at the ship. It was colder than she'd expected out here. "Well, don't blame me for the outfit. Savage don't know how to do no laundry."

She rubbed her gloved hands over her arms; she, too, was beginning to regret not wearing something more. "Hey," she said suddenly, turning toward him, "that ain't fair. You get to admire me but I can't even see you." She tugged on the sleeve of his jacket as they approached the blue building. "Gimme that, huh? Even the field a little."

OOC:She, of course, has her arsenal of circus knives in her belt-pouches. Probably doesn't think it's a big enough deal to bring a gun. XD

Layla finished the song with a flourish. She stood up, and several people applauded her. One man, leaning up against the back wall, looked her straight in the eye. The hunger in that look... Not good, she thought, biting her lip.

That's most definately her, Eliot thought. Although it's been a year or more since that picture they put up on the TV was taken. His cigarrette had finally burned down to a stub, and he extinguished it in the ashtray of a nearby table.

When he looked up, the only thing that remained of his bounty was a few strands of black hair slithering through the curtain after her.

"Dammit," he muttered, running after her. "Excuse me," he said hurriedly to one couple, as he had knocked over their table. He leaped through the curtain, barely keeping up with the much faster girl, even though she was toting what seemed to be a guitar in a hard case on her back.

He would see and arm here behind a shelf, a slender leg behind a stack of pots, but never all of her. He just couldn't keep up.

Layla beat him to the back entrance, and dangled down from the emergency stairs. She then dropped to the ground, and ran away, towards the nicer district of town.

Savage got out the door before it closed, and sat on the stairwell as it slammed closed, catching his breath. "Good God that girl's fast..." he wheezed.

After about a minute, he got up, and went around the building. Upon seeing his ships' mates, he exclaimed, "Goddamn it!" And quickly ran in the direction he had seen Layla go, hoping that they wouldn't follow.

"Just because you don't mind going topless doesn't mean I have to be okay with going completely topless," Riley replied defiantly. "And just because you're lazier than I am doesn't mean I have to suffer for it." He stopped walking and paused for a second, then leaned over and wrapped an arm around Esme's neck.

"Compromise: We'll keep each other warm," he winked at her suggestively, but obviously didn't mean it as seriously as it sounded. Suddenly, an excited-looking Savage came running around a corner, swore, and continued on. "I bet he done founded 'er!" Of course, Riley didn't even considering running after him, and continued towards the blue building.

"There's more'n one way to skin a cat," he said, opening the door and walking inside. He found someone important-looking and walked up to them.

"A girl just ran out of here, possibly with an instrument of sorts. Any idea where she was headed -- say, apartment? A shady gentleman was chasing after her, and my associate and I were hoping to catch up before he could rape her or something like that." Riley paused again, watching the manager person's expression. "Very shady," he added seriously.

"Actually," said Esme, shaking her head, "there's on'y one way to skin a cat. You stick the scalpel sort of up under its neck and pull it down 'til you've got its whole belly open. Then you kind of have to go aroun' the legs and tail, and pull the skin off all the muscle." She shrugged. "Ain't pretty. There's a lot of connective tissue to get through, so it takes a while." She followed him inside, completely oblivious to the odd-sounding statement that had just issued forth from her mouth-- if asked to repeat it, she might have gotten as far as, "You stick the... the... the knife-thing, y'know? Ain't it, like, a scalp or somethin'? No, wait, that's somethin' else, ain't it?"

As it was, Esmeralda had no idea what connective tissue was. She had also never skinned a cat in her life and therefore had no basis for such a statement. And since the author has managed to get this post so completely off topic, she's going to try it from the beginning.

OOC:Sorry... ^^;

~~~~~
"Ain't more'n one way to skin a cat," muttered Esmeralda, again either ignoring or completely missing his jab at her grammar. "You cut the skin off. Ain't that hard. And you suck at bein' chivalrous--" she ignored the fact that he had never given her any reason to suspect that he had a chivalrous bone in his body-- "so I may jus' have to let you keep y'self warm." She did not, however, pull away; the air was rather cold, and she wasn't wearing a lot.
She watched as he lied through his teeth, keeping an excellent straight face. "Very shady," she agreed, nodding sagely. "Scary lookin' guy, he was."
OOC:I'll let Amelia rp the important-looking person-- I don't know whether Layla has an apartment, and I wouldn't want to get something wrong. XD
OOC:Kitty Cape! xD
"Oh my!" The Important-Looking-Man exclaimed, who was in fact the manager of the restaurant. "Well... She doesn't seem to have an apartment, as she goes different places after performing every day... But if you say she's in danger, I'd be happy to run in and call the police."
OOC:Even if she did have an apartment, he wouldn't tell you xD
If you had only asked, "Where's Layla off to next" straightforward, he would have been like, "Oh, it's Thursday... so she's gonna go perform at the fancy restaurant Bla-Bla" >__O; LOL. Anyways...
An alarm on a small watch in Leyla's pocket suddenly went off when she was hiding behind a fruit vendor. "Shh... Please shut up!" She whispered insistantly, hammering the 'Alarm Off' button. "Someone's frickin'..."
No sooner had she begun to speak, when Savage tipped the cart over, spilling apples out onto the road and sidewalk.
She yelled in surprise, and dashed off again. However, her still-beeping watch slipped out of her pocket when she jumped up and ran.
Savage looped back around, and picked up the watch. It read, 'Performance at the Casablanca downtown in one hour.' A smile spread across Savage's face as he pocketed it. "Gotcha."
...Until he remembered: "Shit... It's one of those tux-and-dress only places. Jeez." He slapped himself in the forehead, and started running back the other way. Now that she was gone from sight, the only way to collect on her bounty was to get the others' help, and to trap her in this restaurant.
"Hey, I'll be chivalrous for you all night if you want," Riley whispered sarcastically, "but being topless at this moment means frostbite. I'll give you my jacket next time, Sweets. You know, when that Savage actually gets my clothes cleaned."
"Oh no, err," Riley said in response to the manager's suggestion, floundering slightly. Though it would have been utterly hilarious for Savage to get picked up by the cops (Riley would have greatly enjoyed a glorious "That's what you get" moment) he probably would get convicted, and they would be without a clothes-washer and food-maker. And that, of course, was a problem. "You see, uh... we're tailing that guy. We're actually... undercover detectives -- shhh, hush hush -- and suspect him of... very shady activities. But if you call the local cops, it'll get messy." Riley paused, looking briefly at Esme for support and suggestions.
"So... any idea where she's headed today?" the pilot asked the manager at last. "This is important to... our very official undercover detective... um... work."
The Man raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, you expect me to believe that when you're dressing and acting like a pimp and a ho? Right..." He turned around and walked back into the coffeehouse.
At that very moment, Savage ran up, panting and waving the watch. "She, she, uh, she went to this nice restaurant. And unless you've got a better idea, I suggest we pretend to be patrons and then sneak up on her."
He gave them a strange look. "Yeah... She outran and maneuvered me... Shut up."
"Pretend to be patrons?" repeated Esmeralda, after flipping a rude gesture at the manager's retreating back. It was one thing for her friends to call her a ho; for a random stranger to call her such (and, more insultingly, to not appear to be aroused or even interested in the least) was entirely different. "Yeah, right. You 'spect us to walk into a fancy place lookin' like we do and not get noticed?" She crossed her arms. "Hmph. You done lost 'er, Savage, an' you might 's well admit it. 'Less you wanna buy us all some pretty clothes, 'n you already gone 'n said we don't have no money to even buy coffee. Idiot."
Savage chuckled. "Why buy when you can borrow?" He said, fiendish smile spreading across his lips. "I mean, really. As long as we don't cause too much of a ruckus, we can probably all grab people wearing similar-sized clothes and use them as our own."
He thought for a minute. "Of course, we'd need to drop the clothes we're currently wearing off at the ship, and find some way to keep the people whose clothes we nabbed occupied for an hour or so, but... That's the only way I think we can get in. Like I said, the dress code is super-strict."
OOC:I don't even know.... >__> Someone help me...
"Yeah, I done agrees," Riley said, releasing the grip on his pistol. If Savage hadn't shown up, he probably would have been a bit more persuasive with the manager. "There jes' ain't no how we's gon go in a fancy places like that without some pretty clothes." He scratched his head with his free hand, suddenly wishing he had a nice, hot cup of coffee at that moment.
"If you'd done the laundry properly, I probably have some clothes that could work." Now back to speaking normally, Riley appeared to actually be thinking up a plan -- not something he was fond of, to be sure. "You're way too fat*," he said, looking at Savage. Then, he turned to Esme. "I know you hate wearing clothes, but you could probably pull off mine. Wearing them, I mean." He stopped for a moment, considering this.
"Gah, I'm not good at plans. Come up with something that doesn't involve stripping scuzzy dirty rich people and wearing their clothes."
OOC: * obviously, he's more referring to your height than anything. I thought Savage was more muscular, but apparently not... Still, capri pants just don't work when it comes to dressing nicely ;)
EDIT: Didn't see your post, Amelia... I think it still works? O_o; Also, if you want ideas... Riley and Esme could get in and use radio thingies to communicate with Savage... He can be waiting outside some exit, or something...
Savage rolled his eyes. "Well, I guess I can scrounge up a bit of money to buy soap and water..." He produced a few crumpled Woolong from inside of his half-empty cigarette carton. "That should be enough for one load. So... I guess I'll have to go in, and you guys can guard the exits. We'll have to keep in contact with radios or something."
"I know me and looking nice don't seem to go together," he said, laughing. "But I do own a rather nice suit... Thank God it's wash and wear." It was true, he often went for practicality rather than style, as shown by his beat-up brown leather jacket. He owned many pairs of cheap, solid-color shirts and pants for this reason; and because he was always covered in something. Usually just engine grease or paint, but sometimes in things that made said clothes un-weareable.
Savage scoffed at Riley. "Me, fat? Ha, that's a good one..." He lifted up his shirt to reveal a perfect six-pack of abs. "Being you two sloths' zookeeper keeps me active, and getting Miss Angel to run... She's been giving me hell lately."
He put his shirt down again, and then said, "Can we run to a Convienience Store already? We don't have a whole lot of time."
OOC:Although Savage is quite muscular, he's not nearly as bulky as Rangoon/Kamil. xD
"Good," said Esme simply. "I ain't wearin' no scuzzy dress anyhow. Those things is uncomfortable 's shit." (She said nothing concerning the fact that her own outfit appeared "uncomfortable as shit." It had to be held on with double-sided tape, for heaven's sake.)
At Savage's next commnt, she shot a glare at him-- she was still a little ticked off at the manager's "ho" comment, and had half a mind to toss a knife at him. But that would cause too much trouble, and they had other things to deal with, so she settled with taking out her annoyance on her friends. "Go y'self," she snapped. "I ain't care whether you gonna bitch at me about bein' a damn zookeeper. You c'n manage a damn convenience store on y'own, can't you?" Her glare quickly became a mischeivious grin. "Well, maybe not. Can't give you too much credit, huh-- couldn't even keep up wit' a girl carryin' a heavy instr'ment."
