Aoshi expertly hid his disappointment, withdrawing into himself once more. It was weaknesses in his personality like this that caused him to be injured, and no matter how similar she was his wife was dead. The blademaster had though he'd accepted this, but this woman, somehow...

Aoshi caught her as she fell into him, his grip surprisingly careful and light, considering his personality. He held her delicately, as though she were made of crystal, and picked her up from the ground softly, in a way that she would probably not even feel it, especially in her present state of dizziness. He walked her back to her house, and as he walked he responded.

"Cloud's resting, as you should too," the Blademaster said. Now almost completely back to his original, cold self he found himself struggling to offer her the kind words he knew she deserved. He waited until he reached her house and had set her in her bed before speaking again. "Rest well... Akai ria." He spoke these words, then went about the task of returning the others to the house, onto couches or soft patches of carpet, wherever he could find. Then, feeling tired and irritable himself, he gathered leaves and flowers from the garden which smelled familliar and sat down in the kitchen, brewing a tea as best as he could that reminded him of home....

OOC: aww, poor aoshi! ;-; *cue audience tears*

Oh, as for the words in italics, that's Xarian; its the words that make up Akari's name. Akai means "beautiful" and "ria" means flower! ^__^

Cloud awoke about half and hour later, lying on a soft couch, still feeling a little weak. He shook his head and tried sitting up, and managed it with a little effort.

"Ow..." he said, feeling pain on most of his body. The strain caused by breaking the demon's spell had drained him of his energy, and he still hadn't fully recovered. He looked around, but didn't see much. He could smell something very nice in the kitchens, and he suspected from the herbal scent that it was tea. He would have investigated, but he simply fell back down on the couch, not unconcious, but unable to move.

OOC: you know you like it :P

Aoshi's head spun to the side as he sensed movement and heard what sounded like a groan of pain from the couch. Indeed, Cloud seemed to be stirring, although he didn't seem to be quite awake yet. Perhaps he simply didn't wish to -- or couldnt -- move. Either way, Aoshi was feeling uncharacteristically nice, and so he poured a small bit of the tea into a mug. He sipped it first, and, approving of it, poured another mug for the man on the sofa. He carried it over, and set it on the table, to be there whenever the man was ready to move. Without another word, he returned to his own tea and sipped at it, enjoying the almost sweet taste it had, despite no use of sugar. It was very warming, and seemed to fill Aoshi with a sense of calm. It wasn't quite the same as he'd had it on his home planet -- not nearly as strong or effective -- but it would do. He wondered, though, if the effects might still be too much for one who hadn't had such a drink before. He shrugged, and returned to his tea, allowing it to relax him and clear his mind.

Cloud heard footsteps, a clink of china, and then footsteps again. He pulled himself painfully into an upright position. He saw the teacup on the table, and picked it up. Blowing on it slightly, he took a sip. It seemed sweet, and yet, it wasn't. He afterwards drank most of the cup, and then set it back down on the table. The warm liquid sliding down his throat warmed him, and he suddenly felt comforted. The raging storm of his mind quieted and cleared. He felt more relaxed then he had in a long while. He lay back down on the couch and fell asleep this time, a dreamless yet peaceful sleep.

Kari came shuffling down the stairs at the scent of fresh tea. The Cetra yawned, streatching her arms up and over her head. She smiled and waved like a small child, rubbing her eye with the other hand. "Nn.. smells delicious!" she exclaimed, cheerfully. The girl shuffled over to the stove, her mahogany tresses bouncing off her back and tumbling down her shoulders. She inhaled the scent and made an 'aaah...' sound; it smelled heavenly.

Kari turned to Aoshi, pointing at the kettle. "May I ... have some, Mr. Aoshi?" she asked.

Aoshi looked up at her with what could vaguely be described as a smile upon his face. He noted that Cloud had been able to handle the tea just fine, and wondered if he'd forgotten just how strong and effective his favorite tea from his home planet used to be. He abandoned this thought, however, as such reminiscing never left him in a good mood.

"Of course!" He responded almost enthusiastically. "I warn you that it may be a bit stronger or more potent of a tea than you're used to...."

She nearly jumped from delight, quickly grabbing a cup and taking a large gulp as he warned her. She was completely unphased by it; in fact, she seemed to love it! "This is GREAT! It's not strong at all!!" she said, grinning happily as she nearly inhaled the tea. "I think I"ve had this before.. some...where..." Kari's eyes glazed over, almost as if she were possessed. She dropped the cup and stumbled over to take a seat at the table.

"... mai...rei...?" she said, her lifeless eyes fixed on Aoshi.

Aoshi let a lifeless smile play about the corners of his mouth, not bothering to get excited that he'd heard her speak in their language -- he was now positive that this was, in fact, what he was hearing. It was tempting -- the thought of his beloved returning to him was certainly pleasant. Pleasant? He'd almost forgotten how it felt to experience something "pleasant."

"Keixa mai naa..." he half whispered under his breath, not expecting her to respond.

OOC: "keixa mai naa" = something like "it'd be good if you remembered, wouldn't it...?"

Still holding their lifeless glow, Kari's eyes slowly closed and reopened once more. She felt a cold tear fall from the corner of her eye and roll down her cheek as she spoke. "Ro...jea...?" she asked; she seemed to be upset, or insulted.

Kari's continued speach in Aoshi's native tongue caused him up at look at her this time. His face fell as he saw the tear run down her cheek. Though it was saddening to see her thusly upset, the sparkle from the salty tear made her cheeks shine and enhanced her beauty far beyond what Aoshi thought to be possible. Although he struggled to remain removed -- he didn't expect this to last, as it hadn't on any previous occasion -- the memories of his beloved flooded back to him. It really had been a long time, as even her beauty had been fading from his memory. He never thought it possible, but seeing this young lady who reminded him so much of her brought back the memories in full. It was truely disheartening for him to realize how much time had passed. He wondered if those at fault still existed, even. Quickly, he forced these thoughts into a corner of his mind, shielding his eyes from the tears he knew wished to flow.

"Keixa vire?" Aoshi asked, half hopeful and half skeptical.

OOC: keixa vire = lit. "are you remembering?" make up your own natural english translation XO i cant think of a better translation right now ^^;

The tear fell from Kari's cheek as she smiled weakly, saying "<I've been waiting.. Aoshi...>". Kari reached out with her hand slowly to brush her fingertips lightly against his cheek. The color in her face faded slightly as she fell foward and into his lap, breathing slightly heavily.

OOC:omg blah.. uhm... effects of reincarnationnessstuff uhm... yeah

EDIT (by Digithe): Added <brackets> around her speech until I can decide on some Xarian for it X3

"Akari?" Aoshi asked, slightly startled. "Akari!?" he asked again, much more alarmedly. He picked her up gently and looked at her face, hoping for some sign of consciousness and alertness.

"Rojea ya? Akari!"

OOC: rojea ya = "what is (it)?"; used here to mean "what's wrong?"

please excuse the amazing "blah" ness of this post >_<

Kari stirred slightly, her eyes fluttering open slightly as her breath grew steady. Putting her hand onto her head, she blinked, perplexed.

"Ara... what happened? I remember drinking the tea and then..." she said, suddenly stopping. Her eyes widened when she realized where she was, and she shot up quick as a bullet back into her chair, gripping the pink fabric of her dress in her delicate hands.

"I'm so sorry! I swear I didn't mean to get so close, honestly! Augh, you must hate me now!" she said, flustering and waving her arms.

Aoshi smiled distractedly, his eyes showing remorseful understanding as he resigned himself to the truth; this was not Akari. As much as she looked like her, sounded like her -- she even almost smelled the same -- it could never be and would never be Akari. Perhaps Kari was an incarnation of her, and the nature of her death caused her memories to live on, hidden away in this young girl who so resembled her previous incarnation. Aoshi's eyes lingered on Akari for a moment before falling down to find interest in the liquid in his mug.

"Nono, not at all," Aoshi said, his voice sounding as though the words were not coming from his own mouth, but perhaps from someone nearby. "You just tripped as you sat down, no harm done." His smile faded away as he gazed into his tea. He curled his fingers around the mug, hoping that perhaps the warmth of the liquid would comfort him.

Cloud stirred, awaking from a peaceful slumber. He felt refreshed, and sat up immediately. He paused, realizing that after a demonic beating, he should not be able to move so easily. He looked at his empty teacup.

"Really calming..." he said under his breath. He swung his feet off the sofa he was on, and stood up, stretching and readjusting to the waking world. He heard faint noise in the kitchen, and realized some of the others were probably there. He sat back down on the couch. He knew that the fight had just begun, and the girl was in more danger than any of them knew.

OOC:and, end thread 1. We need more characters before we continue, pre-existing characters such as barret or tifa are totally cool, but they need people controlling them that aren't me, kristin, or dan. colin never posts here, so yomi is pretty much gone. Tiamat(sp?) hasn't been heard from in a while, so this is dead until we get new blood. the story will continue on a new topic on this same forum, starting where we left off, mostly because i'd prefer not to build up thousands of pages on one thread. that's all...i'll put up an announcement so more people come to this section.
