He raised his left hand slightly, and set it upon the hilt of a katana which rested at his waist. The expression of his eyes had softened slightly, but retained it's cold distantness.
"I might very well protect her," the Blademaster said flatly, following and keeping track of Kari's location within his mind. "But whether or not I help you remains to be seen. From here I can see little profit and thus little purpose in aiding your cause." He moves his body slightly so that he can get a good glance at the Cetra without craning his neck. The volume of his voice dropped suddenly, as though he didn't intend anyone to hear him. "She reminds me of someone I once held very near and dear to me. I should prefer such a person to live if I have any say in it." |
| Eshe Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 485 | Eventually Kari came to again, opening her silvery eyes slowly to gaze at the battle scene that lay before her; The tall man that had saved her once before was saving her yet again. A girl had apparently taken her and hidden her under the pourch of a restraunt of some sort, most likely to protect her. Realizing that these people were all going to get hurt for her sake, she stood up and ran to them, tugging on the man's (Aoshi's) arm.
"Please! Don't risk your life for me! You don't even know who I am! Just run.. I'll be fine." Tears fell down her cheeks slowly as she pleaded for them to flee. |

His expression retained its air of aloofness and emotionless as he stared straight ahead. Without turning he responded, calmly yet firmly.
"My lady," He said in a voice which, though once rich and powerful, had gone cold and harsh after years of persecution, "I have no life to lose. I have been kept alive over the past hundred or so years only by desire for vengence. Not only my dignity has been stolen, but my family, my people, and my planet. I am the soul survivor of a once great race -- a King of a planet which no longer exists. "I live for vengence," he continues. "I live so that my enemy will be destroyed in the same way that they destroyed my people." He pauses for a moment in contemplation, then goes on: "I may not know you, but you remind me of one whom I held dear above all else. As long as I am nearbye, you shall fear nothing." "I live with nothing to lose." he said. "I have no reason to back down from a fight. I never have, and I never will. Besides, who does it matter who you are? This beast would kill you, and you know it as well as I. Why should we leave you here to die?" He smiled. "Now, shall we?" he asked the others. |
| Eshe Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 485 | Kari stepped backwards, nodding slightly. Their strength made her green with envy. They were willing to die because they had nothing left. Such an idea made the young Cetra's heart ache. Looking behind her, she saw a large warehouse full of weaponry. Determined to help them, she ran inside and pulled a long, thin sword off of a rack. After checking that the weight wasn't beyond her abilitys to hold a sword, she ran back out to them and smiled, holding the sword in her hands.
"If you all can fight, I don't see why I can't either." She looked up at the sky. "I have nothing to live for anymore, either. I'll fight to my death if I must.." |

With the wonderful emotionly spree over and Pinky here with a sword, what says we kill the....what is it?" She tugs on the long plait of red hair and stares around as if the answer is written on one of the buildings. |

"The guy called it a Mageranter." he said. "Whatever that is. It's gonna be in pieces if comes any closer." The demon seemed to hear him, and began to lumber forward. Cloud dashed up to it and slashed. The beast stopped for a second, then turned to Kari, its intended target, and swung one big heavy, clawed paw at the Cetra. |

Though he rarely stepped into the affairs of others, when he gave his word, he never took it back. He again reached for the ruby-studded sword upon his back, clutching the hilt tightly as he pulled it over his shoulder. He planted his feet in the ground as he arrived in front of Kari, then leapt upwards, continuing his movement and using his momentum to slice through the Mageranter's claw. |
| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | The beast blinked stupidly. It took several moments for it to realize that something had just cut of part of one claw. It roared angrily. It lifted it's paw to crush the man under a claw, and brought its paw down heavily......and missed, because the stupid thing did not realize that it's claw was SHORTER now that something had cut it off.
Cloud sighed. Hopping onto it's paw, he ran up the massive arm and leaped above it's head. His sword in one hand, he held it up as if to slice the monster in half. He began to whirl it in his hand. Faster and faster it went, until it was a blur. A high pitched whistle sounded from the blade. "BRAVEST!!!!" he called, bringing the sword straight down through the monster's shoulder joint. The sword went straight through the limb, severing it. It's arm fell and slammed into the ground, causing a small earthquake. Cloud leaped out of reach of it's other arm. "Heh...monsters shouldn't mess with swordsmen." he said smugly. |
| Eshe Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 485 | After regaining her composer from the fact that she had almost died, Kari stood on her feet, looking out over the battlefield. She reached into her pocket and, after a few moments and some shifting around, pulled out a deep crimson colored orb. The young girl held the orb, better known as materia, in her hands and closed her eyes, chanting quietly to herself. The materia shone brightly, it's glow becoming bright and radiant. It flashed once, engulfing the field in a sudden and severe blast of light. A sound, much like that of a dragon's roar, sounded from above the fighters seconds before a blast of orange light plummetted from the sky and right into the large beast which had recently lost an arm, thanks to Cloud. The beast twitched seconds after it had been given a decently large hole in its torso. Its body shuddered and fell to the ground, causing the ground around it to shake. Kari lost her footing and fell to the ground, landing on her rear. |

With a soft "thud" his thick leather boots collided with the cracked and weary pavement as he landed. The large array of bladed weapons about his person shuddered as well, creating a "chink" sound of the metal scabbards colliding with one another.
He turned and walked calmy yet swiftly back over to Kari, offering her his hand. "Are you alright, miss?" he asked in his characteristically stolid voice. |
| Eshe Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 485 | The young girl looked up to him and smiled, nodding. "Yes, thank you.. I am fine, thanks to you. And to you as well." she said, looking up at Aoshi and then to Cloud. "I can't thank you enough."
Kari took Aoshi's strong hand in her soft, delicate one and stoodup, bumping into his chest slightly; she was moderately dizzy from the previous earthquake. |

As he heard Cloud's voice he turned to it, offering the man an icy glare like only he could summon.
"My name is of no importance, as it means little anymore to anyone. You needn't know it, for I have doubt that you will be travelling in my company for any great length of time. However, if you must call me something then you may call me 'Blademaster.' It is the title many governments have given me." |
