"Raise shields, shoot anything in the sky that moves, were coming back." he barked. "They moved him..." |

Valkier sat on his throne thinking to himself. They had them outgunned and could outmanuever them at any time. Where was the threat? "Train guns on them and deploy the defenive matrix. If anything comes at us, it'll get diverted," Valkier commanded. "Bring us broadside, follow them wherever they go I want that ship back on the ground and flaming pieces!" |

After nearly a half hour, Akari's eyes shot open and she pointed to a small moon. "H, here..." she breathed. "He's here, I'm sure of it." And so, they set a course for the moon on which Akari was sure of his existance.
The Queen sat down in an uncomfortable chair near the window. She gazed outside, only to be suddenly shocked at the site of another, larger ship. Akari shot up out of her chair and shouted: "Everyone, he's here! We've got to get out of here." However, such a maneuver was futile. "Stop! There isn't any use in running from him. He has us dead in his trap. Put me on their conference screen." Akari walked to the center of the bridge where the image of the emperor suddenly appeared. "Good evening, Emperor.", she began. "I have an offer for you." |

"An offer, you say?" Valkier smiled toothily. "What do you have in mind?" What did she have in mind? What could she offer him, besides her own death? |

"I will give myself up to you, your highness, if you agree to let this vessel and it's crew escape safely." She continued to watch him as the man began to think. From her previous encounter with Valkier, she had seen that he had wanted her only for a wife and an heir, and nothing else. Akari hoped that this would help save the others. |

What to do...what to do...so let me get this straight. You would give yourself up to be back on my ship where I have an especially lovely "ever after" for you, all to save your pathetic ship and its less than capable crew.?"
"That's truly very touching...really it is. And I guess I have no choice but to obey my sympathies, rare as they are." Valkier stood and walked over to his general. Only then did the Emperor notice the still silence, the raw aprehension on the deck. What was their problem? "I accept your surrender and I will let your friends go unharmed," Valkier agreed. "However, if your allies take up arms against me or any of my facilities: they will die. No second chances, no mercy. Now, a ship will be coming to pick you up. Oh, and to your crew, any tricks and all of you will die" |
| Eshe Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 485 | Akari nodded, still looking up at Valkier through the screen. "Thank you, Valkier." she replied, and then signaled the crew members to turn the screen off. Quickly, she turned away from the members of the crew and walked to her room, still appearing ever vigilant as ever. And yet when she reached the solace of her room, she wept quietly. Akari had no idea what she had just done...
After packing her things, Akari carried a small bag of her personal belongings and waited for the emperor to retrieve her. She smiled weakly at Hawkes, who seemed angry and bewildered. The Queen heaved a heavy sigh as she saw the ship doors open. |

Mostly he was just thinking about those stones he had created, the one he had attached to the Xarian King. What would happen if two Xarians were plunged into that same kind of madness? Somehow that did not make sense yet it also held merit. They were telepathic to a degree, he knew that much and he barely even knew where the stones took them mind-wise.
"Sir," someone roused him from his thoughts. "We have just recieved the Queen in the main Hangar" Valkier continued to sit. Thinking, just thinking. "Get a stone ready for her just as soon as she is brought to the Bridge before me. Go!" |

Even the soldiers seemed like zombies. They walked down a large corridor for what seemed like ages; Akari grew weary of the ship already. At length, they arrived at the bridge. The Xarian Queen felt the strong urge to beat the emperor to a pulp; she was merely feet away from the one who had taken everything in her life away from her.
One of the guards jabbed her in the back sharply. She winced in pain, taking a few steps foward until she was about a foot behind Valkier. "Hello, emperor." she said, attempting to sound hospitable. |
| Vern_5 Joined: 31 May 2005 Posts: 212 | "Don't 'hello Emperor' me, wench!" Valkier spat. "This surrender has made you far less appealing in mine eyes"
Valkier hopped off his throne and landed soft as a cat, his long coat trailing out behind him and rattling with the sounds of his weapons. Slowly, he stepped towards the young Queen who seemed almost emotionless, not even scared, although he knew that she was just bottling it up for now. Oh yes, Valkier knew minds, and hers was no different. "So," Valkier said softly as he circled her warily. "Why did you do it? What could your surrender possibly hold for your friends right now? Look, there they are on their ship onscreen. What are they going to do in your absence? Free Falcone? I think not, even if they know where he is, they would never get there alive. I may be willing to let them live for yet another day, but I am not stupid enough to let them stay here." |

"I believe I am doing the right thing, Emperor.", she began, watching him circle her, "I would much rather give up myself than see the lot of them die." She paused, looking down at the floor. "I probably won't live much longer here, anyways. I'm aware of what you intend to do to me, Valkier." She felt weak. Akari had made a terrible decision; she was now faced with insurmountable (sp) odds. There was no possible way she could plan to escape, and, even if she did come up with one, would she even live long enough to act upon it? |
| Vern_5 Joined: 31 May 2005 Posts: 212 | "Well, I'm very happy that you find solace in your decision. But there is one thing I'd like to add," Valkier said gently as he reached into his coat pocket. What he brought from it was a Madness Stone and placed it right on Akari's forehead. "I win." he smiled as she went into the throes of madness.
...In the back of his mind, Valkier wondered if he had just made a terrible mistake of his own. He had just joined King and Queen in the bonds of madness. What was he thinking of that conjured this fear in him? |
| Eshe Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 485 | Akari took a step back as she saw him pull the stone out, but it was too late. Merely seconds after it was placed onto her forehead, Akari felt a shiver run down her spine, and fell onto the hard, metal floor before Valkier's feet. The Queen gripped her head, feeling as if she could pull every hair out of her head. Tears streaked her face; agony was a word that would barely suffice to describe what she was going through. It was almost as if she could hear the thoughts, and feel the emotions of nearly every being in the universe that held a breath of life. It was like a terrible migrane, enough to make you go insane, which was what Akari was growing closer to.
With a trembling hand, Akari reached over to Valkier, her tears now creating a river down her once regal face. "Please, stop.. make...." she whispered. It was really impossible for Akari to forge her own thoughts. It were as if her head was a bank, and everyone in the universe was depositing every thought they had into her. She screamed; soldiers on the vessel seemed to shudder, uncomfortable, wishing they had selected a different post. The queen cried uncontrollably, writing in pain on the floor of the bridge. |

There she was, a rogue queen, rollng about, crying a river, and completely helpless. How sweet she seemed in this mindless state. Sadly, all that she was was a reminder that he had almost failed in his mission to destroy the Xarians, whose place in the universe was coming to an end. However, Valkier felt the slightest twinge of remorse at her small quivering form. Maybe, just maybe...He pulled the stone from her and hid the object back in his pocket. Slowly, she came to.
"Your emperor is wise and just," Valkier whispered softly. "I hope that was not too excruciating. Know that I released you as a token of my good will; any other would suffer forever...Guards!" several grunts moved behind the shaking Queen. "Pick her up and find her some nice quarters. Give her the standard prisoner's freedoms. Pilot...take me home" |
| Eshe Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 485 | As beads of sweat and tears fell from her pale face, Akari turned her head to see the emperor. He was pure evil, and Akari hated him. She hated him for destroying her planet, her home, her dreams, her family and friends. He'd taken everything from her, and now he was torturing her when she had done no wrong. Her head dropped; she had barely any energy left anymore. She felt as limp as a tattered rag doll being dragged about the ship until they found her a suitible room.
The Queen managed to open her eyes slightly; it was a dark, cold room. The walls and floors were made of large, dark grey stones and the only light came from a barred window. The bed was a cheap mattress laid atop a stone slab. "This..", she breathed, "is what you call 'nice quarters'...?" The guards frowned and threw the queen upon the floor. She winced, letting out a small shout in pain as her body collided with the stone ground. The guards laughed and slammed the door. Akari sat herself up, proping her back up against the makeshift bed. She could feel tears welling up in her eyes, but she held them back; Akari was not going to give up. She WOULD emerge victorious from this, no matter the cost. Using the window ledge to help herself up, the run-down and beaten Queen looked out the window. Haikon... she thought to herself. Where are you...? |
