Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | Hawkes powered up the thrusters on the flagship of the tiny fleet. He pressed several buttons on the control panel and then sat in the pilot's chair. He picked up the comlink and called to the other ships.
"Everybody ready?" he asked. The response was unanimous. "Yes, Sir!" crackled the comlink. Hawkes grinned as he turned to the Xarian Queen. "Fasten your seatbelt, Akari, it's gonna be a bumpy ride." He spoke again into the comlink. "Alright, now move like you got a purpose!" He threw the ship into motion and shortly after into hyperdrive. They were on their way. OOC:...sucked. |
| Eshe Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 485 | When they had been flying for a decently long amount of time, the Queen stood up from her chair and took a few steps towards a large window. In it's reflection she saw her face; sullen, frightened, angry... Just a few of the multitude of emotions that raced through the woman's mind at the moment. "Haikon..." Akari spoke to herself in her mother tongue; the language the belonged to only two in the universe. She felt tears welling at the corners of her eyes as she gazed out into the vast abyss of space. "...vixa... vire...?" she whispered, putting her hand onto the glass.
Akari shook her head. Of COURSE Falcone was alive. She just knew it. The queen turned to Hawkes. "You, when are we to arrive at Valkier's fortress?" |

"It'll take about 15 minutes. We had to drop out of hyperspace so their radars couldn't pick us up making the shift, so we're all running on normal now." he said as his hands flew across the control panel, scanning the area for Valkier's ships. | Vern_5 Joined: 31 May 2005 Posts: 212 | Valkier strode proudly across the bridge carelessly peering over shoulders and smiling at those few women who worked in his armada. His personal Flagship, The Naga, was a state of the art vessel designed for close and long distance attack; it was an unbeatable force. Of course, Valkier was not so proud as to go alone on this mission; one complete armada traveled around his own bristling with cannons and loaded with fighters.
"General?" Valkier shouted over his shoulder to the imposing warrior at the helm. "Emperor?" "What's our ETA?" "Two minutes and closing, sir" Valkier grinned. "Finally, I'll finish this with the might of the Armada. My Armada!" he stated proudly. "Get the missile barrage ready. All batteries prepare to fire!" People rushed to their stations, gunners stumbled to their missile batteries, pilots ran to their fighters, and Valkier, mighty and proud stood before the window. He rose his hand high in the air. THere it stood, unwavering in Valkier's courage, like a grand monument to his greatness. THen, his arm fell like a hammer. "Open Fire!!!" |

"Shit!" Hawkes swore, for he saw on his radar a whole armada unloading it's chambers at a handful of ships. "I think he knows we're here, and, DAMN, did he send a welcome wagon!" He picked up the comlink and shouted as fast as he could. "Shift all countermeasures to forward weapons and fire! Got it? Now move like ya got a purpose!" |

"Forgive me, your Majesty," he said simply, "But I've fought Valkier long enough to know how to stop his weapons. Now, watch." He hit the launch button on the missile tubes. From all the ships, a small white storm seemed to appear out of nowhere. The missiles thudded into it and exploded. When the smoke cleared, every missile was gone. Hawkes grinned. "It'll take several minutes for them to reload." he said, steering around some missile debri. "By that time, we can fly past them. Besides, we couldn't teleport down before 'cause we were out of range." OOC:i hope i did that right |

Out in space, it's a completely different game. The fear, confusion, and audible chaos is replaced by a dull representation, All things desenstized by the sound distorting qualities of the hull. When a shot is fired, you do not hear it. When rockets are launched, you never know. It is that kind of deadly silence, the plain "not knowing" that your number might be up, that drives many crew members insane.
"Scan the front, I want a full report on damages" Valkier commanded from his throne upon the Naga. "We're still gathering data, sir," a crewmember called back from his place at a random console. Valkier slumped himself over his throne. "All the best technology in the galaxy and I can't even get a simple report?" he grimaced to himself. "Emperor, we have a full scan," said the crewmember. "Um, I think you might want to take a look at this" "I think I might not. What happened?" "No damaged, Emperor" "No damage," Valkier said calmly. "The entire barrage was intercepted? By that tiny fleet?" he said incredulously. "looks like it, sir" "hmm...looks like we'll have to take a different approach," Valkier openly pondered. "Launch all fighters" "What!? Right now?" "Did I stutter?" "Launching all fighters" "Tell them to get behind the enemy while taking potshots at whatever they can, once they're behind tell them to fire on the ship's engines." Valkier anounced. "At the same time, I want all medium-class vessels to open up in a standard rate of fire. Understood?" "Understood, Emperor!" came a full bodied reply from the whole of the ship. | Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | The alarms went off again as over a hundred ships flew at the small fleet. Hawkes just shook his head. Picking up the comlink again, he called the other ships.
"Geez, this guy don't quit." he said. "Reload missile tubes, fire main guns 'til then. These are his fighter ships, so target the engines." With that, he began to fire his lasers at the approaching ships. His aim was good; every shot he fired hit a ship, and every ship he hit was either gone or disabled. The other ships weren't doing quite as well, but they still hit many other ships flying their way. Then came the enemy's shots. Lasers flew at them, but thanks to the shield upgrades, most of the ships were fine. One cruiser on the end, however, was hit too many times and simply exploded. "Damn you!" Hawkes swore at Valkier. Then his own shields began to take a heavy beating. "Fire missiles!" he called into his comlink. Nearly a score of missiles soared into the attackers, destroying many ships, even the ones the missiles didn't hit. This slowed the rain of fire for a moment. "Alright!" Hawkes said. "Landing time!" He threw the thrusters into full and launched the ship at the planet's surface. The other ships followed suit, but then the fire began again and another ship was hit, but it spiraled into the planet's surface. No resulting explosion came, so Hawkes figured they survived. Finally, after what seemed an age, they touched down on the planet's surface. "Alright, Milady, here's our's stop. Let's go!" |
| Eshe Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 485 | Akari smiled, determined. "Right!" she replied, running out behind Hawkes and out of the ship. They were at the gates of the castle, as Akari observed. She gazed up at the large fortress. While intimidating, she was confident she had the power to break in and free her beloved. "Hawkes, I have a way of distracting the guards. When I've got their attention, sneak up from behind and knock them out, ok?" Without waiting for a reply she began to unbutton her dress, and ripped larger seams in the hips. This is so degrading... the Queen thought.
She gave a thumbs up to Hawkes and began to saunter up the bridge that lead to the castle. A minute passed and she finally reached the two men. She smirked, blowing kisses to them as she approached them. They chuckled slightly, but then came to their senses. "You! What business have you here?! Leave at once!" one shouted. Akari frowned. "Aww, you can't mean that..." she pouted. The Queen, who felt all too disgusted at the moment, pressed her body up against one of the guards. She nearly vomited from his smell; he reaked of body odor. "I just wanted to visit you two; you are some fine guards, if I do say so myself." Akari releashed a girlish giggle; it sickened her. The other guard, jealous, pulled Akari off of his partner and onto himself. "Heh heh, well, I don't see why we couldn't... 'entertain' ourselves with her for a moment..." he said, tugging on Akari's dress. Hawkes.. any minute now... she worried. |
| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | Quick as flash, Hawkes zoomed out of hiding and landed a solid roundhouse on each guard's skull. They collapsed to the ground, silently. Hawkes waved a hand to call the group of fighters to them.
"That was effective enough." he said, smirking. "Come, no time to waste!" |

"The enemy's main fleet has remained and we are slowly chipping away at them...Xarian flagship has landed outside Castle Odalos, Emperor!" a crewmember shouted from below. "Hmm...how clever. They must have escaped during the missile storm. Oh well, that's rotten luck" Valkier grinned. "Do you wish to pursue?" "No" "Emperor?" said General Glaive in surprise. "You don't want to go after them?" "Well, here's the thing," Valkier began to explain. "While we're up here blowing up the rest of that Xarian's fleet (on that note, send a missile barrage and flank them with fighters and medium class ships, tell the fighters from the first wave to make a roundabout and fire their heavy weapons into the enemy) she and her escort are down there doing something stupid: she's looking for her husband, who, tragically, I moved a long time ago without trace or record. He's on the moon. As for that castle, it's rigged to explode at the push of a button" |

He isn't here!" If her beloved husband had been present in this castle, she surely would have sensed him by now, and she felt nothing of him. She grimaced, turning around and running towards the ship. "We have to leave, there's nothing we need here!" |

On the main screen, a blue picture of the front hall of his grand fortress was display in full 3-D. and within were two red blots: Akari and her servant. There they were, running down the hall, completely... they turned around! They could not turn around, not now "That's it!" Valkier shouted. "Bring us into low orbit and prepare to intercept the enemy flagship when it takes off. IN the meantime, detonate the castle starting with the bridge" |
| Eshe Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 485 | As Akari made her way to the bridge, she began to see smoke from the other edge. Clenching her teeth, Akari gripped Hawkes' hand tightly, saying: "Hold on!". She began running faster and faster and jumped up into the air as the bridge exploded beneath them. The Xarian Queen used the explosion as a way to lift them up and over the canyon below. They landed, painfully, only the cold ground, rolling a few feet. Akari sat up and watched as the castle fell to pieces.
"My God... he'd kill all of his men... to kill me?" she whispered. The queen stood up, wobbling slightly. "Come on, I'm positive that if they know we're escaping, they'll go after the ship!" she shouted, starting off for the ship. |
