OOC: jeeez that took forever for me to read ><

Mernov looked off in curiosity as the strange creature leapt away towards yet another strange occurance near the main entrance to Hellsing Manor. His vision of the events were obstructed from his current angle, but he could clearly sense two life-forms. One was Odakira, the peculiar vampire acquaintance from earlier. The other was unknown, but a human. An injured human, to be precise. The scent of blood was strong and crisp. Though Mernov was officially on vacation at the moment, he still felt a lingering need to defend the manor, and since Alucard was out for the moment, the duty fell upon Mernov's shoulders. He let a quick sigh escape from his fanged mouth then turned to his apprentice.

"Come Jeanne, we must attend to something," Mernov said in a somewhat softer tone than normal, though his rich voice still penetrated the dark silence with the crisp clarity of a church bell. From his coat he produced a simple leather belt with a holster, just big enough for the weapon which his young apprentice held in her hands. He lightly tossed it towards her, holding out his hand with fingers spread loosely. The belt cought itself in mid-air and hovered quickly towards Jeanne's waist. It wrapped itself about her and buckled itself. "There, holster your weapon; you may need it." He took one large stride towards her and touched her left shoulder with his right hand. He took one more deliberate step forward, sliding his hand across her back to her right shoulder and turned abruptly to face the same direction she did. The flowing tails of his jacket floated about them, growing and encompassing the two until it swallowed them whole and they disappeared.

With a flourish the two reappeared half-way up the steps in front of the grandiose entrance to Hellsing Manor. Indeed, there before him on the bottom steps sat the injured woman, accompanied by Odakira and their strange new acquaintance, Kyphus. Mernov took a step forward, allowing his hand to slide gently off of Jeanne's shoulder.

"My, what a night for intruders!" He said in almost a jovial tone, his voice reverberating off the crisp, rich structures of the mansion. It was not necessarily menacing -- in fact it was almost welcoming -- but contained a hidden threat that showed he meant business. "Kyphus, forgive me if my memory or my information falters, but I don't recall your being granted permission to stay on these grounds," Mernov said in reference to the words Kyphus left him as he sprang off. He turned to Odakira, taking another step down the staircase. "And Odakira, sheltering a human? Honourable indeed, but I must ask from whom are you sheltering her? Clearly she did not come here of her own accord and I cannot fault her for that." A quick glance at the woman's appearance and a brief touch of her mind and emotions proved that she could hardly have answered that question herself.

OOC:No problem Dan, in fact, welcome back! :D

Sensing the movements through the darkness of another dimension, he knew Mernov was coming. As Mernov appeared along with Jeanne, he too had turned to face him, meeting him eye to eye. His smile faded before he turned, his face plain and normal as usual. He spoke out in a monotonous tone, but still seeming to emit richness within.

"Mernov... I was sent here by the Order to help out the Organization eliminate an uprising vampire threat." He explained, only to continue, lowering his head and his tone silenting lightly, "These vampires tried to attack this human, and I took witness to the lady and helped her escape. She's a virgin, so she is lucky that she did not become one of them, pray I had not come along..."

He brought up a hand to brandish his hair away from his pale fale, his optics sharpening to their fortuitous display. "It goes against the Order to allow a human to become the enemy... But we aren't dealing with regular vampires." His voice stopped to this, given time for Mernov to speak if need be of anything he just vocalized. That and for fear that the lady might have heard too much, she was still a human, she did not need to know this. She could be of some help, but she would have to be willing to become one of them.

Other than that, he began to think rapidly of the many roblems that could occur. An attack of the Hellsing Organization. Kyphus, though he seemed okay at the moment, he still wasn't full trustworthy of him. Mernov didn't trust him either, he knew by the first time he peered into his mind.

He thought to himself it was probably better to just deal with the threat himself. He was indifferent and could take out the threat himself. He had his reputation as the Elite Vampire of the Knights of the Teutonic Order to stick up to. This was beginning to become stressful...

"Hah! Regular Vampires my claws!" Kyphus hissed. "I've been fighting and killing such creatures for awhile now. In fact, I think I left an all too recognizable trail of dead behind me" he continued with a hint of worry in his voice.

Looking around with his unseeing eyes at the assembled group, Kyphus realized that he might not be in good company. One Vampire (three, actually, now that he noticed the distinct similarity between Odakira and the first two 'humans' he had the pleasure of meeting) and a new human. The two men did not find him to be trustworthy; he could see it, he could pretty much smell it, too. The two women did not think much of him, although that in itself was not exactly a good thing. Overall, the greatest emotion was distaste for which he could not blame them.

"Oh, yes," said Kyphus as his vision shifted to orient on the Vampire Mernov. "I really do need a place to keep watch of events and something about this big old lot bothers me...in a good way. The location's resonance is...well, I don't think you'll be able to understand until later. THe fact of the matter is that I absolutely need to have a lookout from atop this building. And if you still don't trust me, you can hang me by my ankles out of the highest balcony; it's what I had in mind anyway..."

Helen had been frightened by Kyphus’ appearance and the threatening manner he had held was enough to intimidate her. Yet, he did not seem at all bad. As far as she could see, the only reason why Odakira did not like him was because of some incident in the past. However, he had not given her a reason not to trust him. In fact she felt utterly grateful that he did not stick that needle into her hand. She flexed her right hand that he had healed; it tingled in a pleasant sort of way.

Odakira had saved her life, and had obviously displayed great self control since she had come, if what he told her about a Vampire’s taste for virgin blood was true. He had been epitome of kindness and though there was a misunderstanding earlier, he did not seem too upset. Helen felt sorry for slapping him, and made a quick note to apologize later.

The professor had just opened her mouth to thank them both for what they did when the new vampires arrived. At least, she assumed they were vampires. There was another slight buzz in her mind, and then it was gone. She closed her eyes and shook her head. This was happening a lot. One Vampire was a man, intimidating, like the others, but he seemed the most at home here. His name seemed to be Mernov. The other, a young woman, she looked a bit timid and not at all intimidating like the others. She stood silently next to Mernov as he spoke to Kyphus and Odakira.

Helen’s eyes widened as she listened. Would she really have been a Vampire by now if it were not for Odakira? Her thoughts flashed back to the alley, she had been alone then. She bit her lip and sat in silence as listened and tried to gain as much as possible from the conversation. However, Odkira seemed to be trying to keep her as ignorant as possible. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and she only tried harder to make sense of this strange conversation.

So Kyphus hunts Vampires? Is he here to kill Odakira and the others? But Odakira seems to hunt Vampires as well… and if he has been sent here to help this Organization, then the other two Vampires must hunt them as well. Helen frowned. If they all want to kill this Vampire threat, then why is there all this enmity and distrust between these three?

He nodded his head in the direction of Mernov and Jeanne, then shifted his feet amongst the concrete he stood upon, turning to look at the girl. Speaking reluctantly out to her, "Isn't that right, young one?" She was silent.

He noticed she was in a trance almost, keeping quiet and to herself whatever thoughts she had. He tilted his head to one side as he studied her figure, she noticed her questionings within her mind. He trusted Mernov, he was part of the Organization, there was no need for friendship in order to be partners. Kyphus was another story. They have only met twice, once in battle and now in times of trouble. He then turned back to look at Mernov. He gave off a shrug, pushed his shoulders outward swiftly and fixed his coat. The shudder of the cloth created the sound of raven wings, flapping delicately in the night breeze.

To the words that Kyphus had spoke out, he nodded slightly and said. "Kyphus, I'm sure Alucard won't be around for a while." His voice calm, and soothing to everyone's ears. Within the cortex of his mind, he knew this not to be true, why would Seras Victoria still be here as Mernov mentioned if Alucard wasn't too far... He just did not want any trouble within the organization, trying to push back the timing of a fight. He also knew Kyphus would stand no chance, it would be sad for him to go so soon, but then again, Kyphus was headstrong. Business was business after all...

He then turned back and walked over to stand beside the woman, he whispered quietly in her ear in question, "Are you afraid...?" His voice was charming and passionate, soft and warm as the words came into contact with her hearing. He did not want her to be afraid, nor have her here in danger and defenseless. Time was going to run short, and soon.

Helen blinked as Odakira’s soothing voice shook her from her thoughts. She turned her head to look him into his eyes. She wanted to say no, but the simply was not true. She had just barely realized how many close calls she had had this night. Now she was surrounded by Creatures, she had only dreamed about, and the dreams were never pleasant. Her entire world had been turned upside down in a matter of a few minutes. However, that was not what bothered her the most.

“Yes,” she admitted softly. “I feel ignorant, and weak. It’s a very unpleasant feeling, and I wish I could understand precisely what is occurring.” She would rather be pierce with a thousand needles than live her life and ignorance. She had always been that way, and now she just realized that her entire life had been shrouded in ignorance. She shuddered slightly as her eyes darted from Odakira’s, to Mernov and his companion, to Kyphus, and returned finally to Odakira’s golden eyes. Her green eyes flickered with the longing for the knowledge and understanding that Odakira dangled in front of her face.

"Hm... Well, do not worry, no harm will come to you." He spoke, his tone seeming softer than before and more comforting. "I made an Oath that I should not let any human or fellow vampire come to harm by my enemies."
His voice proved promising, determined to stick to his word no matter what.

His eyes dulled once again as a cloud came over the moon's surface of light. His facial complexions had seemed to change to her demand. He couldn't tell her what was going on, she was still just a mere human. That, and the 'Creatures of the Night' were to keep a low profile.

His eyes then slowly shut before her, he summoned a slight measure of his telepathic powers to persuade her once again. He opened his optics again, they seemed to be somewhat intoxicating as she peered into them. Their image sharp and bright even in the darkness the clouds concealed them in. The hallucinating affect blended with his words. Now not only caressing her mind, but boiling the blood inside her heart as well.

"You know my name... That is all you need to know for now." He said, his voice reverberating off the walls of her mind in an endless echo of seduction. Making her eyelids heavy as if his vocals were a sweet lullaby that would put her into an endless slumber, but kept her on the brink of awake. Also in hopes to persuade her that his answer was good enough.

He turned to look amongst Mernov, placing a hand gently onto the girl's shoulder to be sure she doesn't fall from his spell. He nodded slightly to the vampire, as he awaited his words once again.

Odakira seemed to be very friendly with this human woman, Mernov noted. Were they acquaintances? Did he owe her something? While it was known that the white-robed vampire had made a pledge to protect humans, Mernov didn't expect that this included such kindness and sympathy as Odakira was displaying. Perhaps his intentions were similar to Mernov's with Jeanne -- this seemed likely. And yet, at the same time, this seemed an improbablity; though Mernov had only known this vampire for a very short time, he felt nonetheless that it was not in Odakira's personality to want an apprentice-servant. Another thought crossed Mernov's mind: Perhaps the reasons were different, but the ends were the same; perhaps Odakira wanted her as a vampire simply to have her as a vampire, either for company or for assistance. The possibilities were many, and there was little time to ponder them presently -- besides, Odakira's thoughts and reasons were his alone, there was no need at this time to delve into them.

"Kyphus, the decision of lodging on this property is not mine to make," Mernov said assertively. He glanced coldy at the strange creature which he currently addressed. "I know a certain security officer who would surely be quite unhappy to find you hanging from the roof. The master is likely asleep at this time, and so the acting security officer would make the decision, and he tends to be quite disagreeable at this time of night. Perhaps it would be best if you checked in tomorrow." Mernov paused slightly, hoping that the creature would leave them. While he had no reason to distrust Kyphus, he also had no reason to trust him. Since he was after Alucard, Mernov's superior, there was certainly no reason to keep him around. Mernov made a brief mental note to alert the great vampire of his assailant, although it would be merely out of courtesy, as Mernov could tell that "a struggle" would be an overstatement. He now turned to Odakira and the woman whom he sheltered.

"I assume you hope for refuge for the lady?" Mernov asked, though he clearly knew the answer. The tall vampire considered this briefly, glancing at the large doors from the corner of his eye. After merely a moment more he turned back to address the injured woman directly. "Since you have been attacked by rogue vampires who may yet attack you again, I feel inclined to offer you a temporary safe haven." His voice was crisp and resonant; the slightest hint of warmth was noticable if one listened carefully. "Come, I shall ask Walter for an available room. Odakira, perhaps you should carry her," he added on afterwards, at a noticably lower volume. He turned on his heel and walked back up the stairs, pausing to offer Jeanne his arm before continuing.

When Odakira reopened his eyes, Helen gave a small gasp. They seemed soft, yet intense at the same time. Her mind, once almost completely alert, felt as if a cool relaxing mist had seeped in and wrapped her mind in a blanket of comfort. She felt no fear at all; it was as if she was floating on a cloud of bliss. His voice was soothing and she felt as if she could fall asleep, but there was something tugging at her mind to keep her conscious.

Her eyes were half closed, and a small, content smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. She had all the answers she needed.

“You know my name…”

Odakira…

“That is all you need to know…”

Oda… kira…

“My name…”

Yes… but…

“Need to know…”

Need to know…
Helen’s brow furrowed as something tugged insistently at the back of her mind. I need more… I need to learn more… Her mind ached for the knowledge that she did not have, like a stomach ached for food. Something isn’t right… She tried to push against the mist that had invaded her mind. What is this? No… Stop… I need to know!!! Images of red eyes full of lust, a splintered cross stained with blood, shriveled faces like corpses, the mansion, Kyphus, and finally Odakira’s eyes. No, she thought a little more firmly. This won’t do. It won’t do at all…
His soft, hypnotic voice repeated insistently, “You know my name… That is all you need to know for now…” The blanket of mist wrapped around her mind tightly, despite Helen’s efforts to push it away.

She squeezed her eyes shut, and shook her head. She raised her hands slowly to her head and covered her ears as if it would drown out his voice.

“No,” she murmured. “I… need to know… Let go… Let go!” She eyes snapped open, and she blinked a few times, as her mind began to clear. Her mind began to buzz once again, and she looked at Odakira’s hand and looked up at him. Odakira did something to her… she was not sure what it was, but she knew it was something.

Mernov was speaking to her. She nodded. “Thank you... sir,” she added quickly. “I shall take my leave in the morning.”

His hand remained out to her, but as Mernov spoke, he turned. He knew that his spell did not work. She was indeed a truely gifted human, she would make a great apprentice. Odakira never did have an apprentice though, never had anyone to look out for or train. He shook his head slightly, he knew it wasn't worth it, he wasn't worthy of having an apprentice, not to mention it has been well over a decade since he last tasted the tasty brew of blood. He then turned to face Mernov, his eyes breaking away from the lady, becoming soft once again before they left her sight.

He then nodded slightly to the crisp words of Mernov's voice, he turned to look at the lady. Strange, Mernov had become friendly suddenly. When he mentioned the name of Walter, he knew right then that he was with the real organization. Walter, the Angel of Death. A Legend.

He looked to the lady again, almost shameful for his actions, then took a step away from Mernov's presence, being courteous and not in the way of his path. As he spoke to the lady, he awaited silently, his head lowered as Mernov's words resonated the air.

As he turned from the lady and began to traverse the stairs, Odakira looked up and replied to Mernov's response to him. "Will do..." He said, bowing his head slightly to his superior. He then turned to the lady and asked of her, his eyes still luminescing a soft light amongst their soft surfaces.

"Do you wish me to carry you?" His voice softly spoke, his tone now normal in the mind and hearing to the woman, he did not persuade her again, for he felt that it wasn't needed, being courteous and kind to the lady, hoping that she will accept. After all, she would just get torn up outside the gates. His eyes looked down to her feet to see the dog sleeping. His head tilted to one side, then shot up back at Mernov, his volume raising to question him before he opened the mansion's doors,

"Mernov." He said, his voice just loud enough for Mernov to hear as it reached his ears. "What about her dog...? Do you have a place for the animals inside this... palace?" He awaited the answer of Mernov and the woman, this was a busy night and a bad timing for introductions, his figure remained motionless as he stood beside the lady.

Helen’s head snapped up to look at Mernov, as well. She couldn’t just leave him outside! Without saying a word she leaned over, and gently picked up the sleeping pup, and placed him in her lap. Her small action clearly stated that the dog would stay with her.

You’re getting too big for this Jo-jo, she thought as she scratched him behind the ears. Jo-jo twitched a paw, but stayed asleep. She looked at Odakira once more. He still stood almost protectively over her, but there was something different. His eyes seemed to flicker with regret, or guilt. His tone seemed as polite as always, but perhaps slightly more sincere.

Walter. Helen took note how Mernov seemed to treat the name with a sort of reverence or respect. Another Vampire perhaps? In the end, the name held little, almost no importance to her.

Carried? Helen felt that he already helped her enough, and the thought of being completely dependent on him was not to her liking. Surely I can walk a little ways… The professor looked up at the massive, and felt tired just looking at it. Then, she remembered when she tried to walk away from Odakira, and how exhausted she felt after such a short distance. She looked at her feet, and felt happy to see that the bleeding had slowed down a bit. However, blood still oozed from the cuts. It would hurt quite a bit if she tried to walk, and no one would be happy to find bloody footprints in a mansion full of Vampires… except for perhaps the Vampires.

Helen felt ashamed as she bit her lip, and avoided Odakira’s eyes. “If it isn’t too much trouble,” she nodded. “I would be very grateful.”

She glanced over at Kyphus, and cocked her head. He did not seem to be a Vampire at all. He seemed to be more machine and metal than anything else, but there was still something humane about him. She would have to ask him later, if she ever got the chance.

He heard the what seemed to be trembling words of the woman. He blinked as he still faced towards Mernov. He slowly turned, piveting his feet against the ground as he always did, his eyes coming up from the ground to peer at her for a moment. He smiled warmly, feeling grateful that she would allow his do so, for it would be sad to see her walk again. Especially without any medical attention to her feet.

He moved around to be at her right side, his back to the Mernov and everyone else. His upper body leaned down slowly, his left hand wrapped around her side along her back, sending slight shivers throughout the woman's body. His other hand moved under the hollows of her knees, the palm of that hand firmly grasped the side of her knee. His arms seemed to conform to her figure to comfort her somewhat. He then stood straight, his body seemed unburdened by her weight and that of the dog's whatsoever.

He turned back around and took a few steps towards Mernov, stopping before the stairs as he awaited patiently for an answer. He glanced down at the lady and gave off a somewhat warming smile, but he was still troubled in the back of his mind. He covered professionally with his smile, his eyelids narrowed slightly too, then his head looked up to glance back at Mernov as he waited.

"How would she be okay at night?" He thought to himself within the complexities of his mind. "After all, this was just tonight, and the vampires know she's a virgin, they'll come after her even after tonight..." It was obvious to him that she would need to stay more than just one night. But who knows? If Mernov and him were to move out tonight and take out these creatures, she would be safe then. Along with all the other humans in this town.

Helen shuddered at Odakira’s cool touch that seemed to cut through the trench coat and the flannel pajamas that she wore. She slipped her right arm behind Odakira's neck, and held onto to his right shoulder. Her left arm held Jo-jo firmly, yet gently in her lap so he wouldn’t fall. She returned Odakira’s smile with one of her own. Something seemed to be bothering him, she felt it, but his smile wanted to tell her otherwise.

“I’ll be fine,” she assured him. She felt like he was talking about her as if she were an infant that may burn herself if left by a flame. Helen thought Odakira was being a bit too paranoid, but she figured that he meant well. “I won’t leave my flat at night anymore. They don’t know where I live. I don’t see why I would need to be looked after like a child. If you really want to help me, tell me what's going on, and how to protect myself.”

Helen had a vague idea of what was going on, but it was more like a bare outline of what she had been able to piece together from what she had heard.

OOC:Um, hey, I think you made a boo-boo, wrap your arm around Mernov's neck? ^^;

He peered down at her to her words. He did not want to use his seductive power amongst her mind again. So, he just simply nodded to her. He mouth peered open as he spoke softly to her, "We know you probably could take care of yourself little lady... But they have already smelt your blood." He then looked back up to Mernov as he continued to speak to her, his voice low enough so it wouldn't be a bother of anyone else and so that only she could hear. "They can follow it, wherever you go..." He then looked back down, his eyes foreboding that danger was inevitable. Even at her flat, they would find her, and make her into one of them.

A cool breeze slowly blew by, his figure did not sway, but his coat flapped slightly behind him as the wind carried it's light material about. His golden optics remained soft for a moment, then sharpened as the wind ended, seeming to have been lost in thought for a mere moment.

'If I might make a suggestion," said Kyphus. "I can always protect the girl; I don't sleep and I'm no vampire so my talents would be ideal for the job"

Kyphus glanced eyelessly at Mernov. "That is...if I can stay. And you can trust my defensive services, despite what I know you might think about me"
