When Helen had finished-- both with her story and her outburst-- Riley regarded her gravely over the tips of his casually steepled fingers. He said nothing for a few moments. What, after all, was there to say? 'I respect you very much, Helen, but perhaps you should see a psychiatrist' hardly seemed appropriate. Besides, he had no reason to believe that she was crazy. Aside from all this vampire nonsense, that is.

She was as lucid as ever; he cautiously reminded himself that lucidity and insanity were not mutually exclusive. Still, instinct told him that she was as sane as he was. There had to be another reason. The thought that she might be lying crossed his mind for the briefest of moments. It was gone as quickly as it had come. Insane or not, Helen was no liar.

He supposed that there was always the possibility of some deranged bunch of criminals laboring under the delusion that they were Nazi vampires-- but there were too many unexplainable details in her story, were that the case.

She can't be right.

He could think of no explanation.

She can't.

And why the hell not? After all, Riley was hardly a skeptic. He'd never doubted the existence of God, and there was no more proof of that than there was of these vampires.

After what seemed like a decade of silence, Riley finally spoke. The tiniest twinge of an accent had crept back into his voice; it was an unconscious mark of how unsure he was at the moment. He didn't notice. "If you're serious," he said slowly, "I hope you realize that you're treading on dangerous theological ground by coming to me about this." He paused. "And if you understand that, I have to ask... why are you coming to me about this?"

"Here's your drink, miss," the waiter said, putting a steaming mug of spiced wine in front of Moira.[/color:a2844d37a4]

"Thanks," Moira said, taking a deep drink of the warm liquid. She put the mug down, leaning out so she could see Helen's man friend. Argh. Fine, ignore me, she thought testily.

She overheard the man's next comment to Helen with interest. "You know, she's probably coming to you because you're a close human friend. She's probably had enough of us after all that's happened to her. Needs to be with her own," she said to him, hoping he'd hear her this time.

Moira had been noticing the drop in her blood sugar, but had only thought it was because she was hungry for food. But, as her limbs became increasingly more shaky, she knew she needed blood. "E-excuse me," she said, leaving the bar and going out to her motorcycle. She opened the bag she had left in the saddlebag, and took out a packet of medicinal blood, Type O. She puncured it with a straw, and drank it down quickly, feeling immediately relieved. "Aah," she sighed, wiping her mouth.

She disposed of the bag, and walked back into the bar as if nothing had happened. She sat back down, continuing with her statement. "While I myself was not present at the incident, I'm certain she's not lying..."
She smiled a Cheshire cat smile, showing her larger-than-average canines.
"Very certain."

OOC:Sorry, Amelia! ^^; I didn't even see your post ><

Riley was either more tired or more drunk than he'd thought. He failed to even noticed Helen's friend, so weary was he, and was somewhat startled when she addressed him again. He watched her leave, a little sorry that he'd not said anything to her and hoping that he hadn't made her feel terribly unwelcome.

His fears were alleviated when she returned, and he opened his mouth to introduce himself properly. Before he could, however, she opened her mouth, and his ability to speak left him immediately. His hand flew to the crucifix he wore around his neck-- it was small, but unless he was very much mistaken, it would do, should he need it.

It only took him a moment to get over his initial shock. "What the hell is going on here?" he demanded, speaking to Helen but not taking his eyes off this... newcomer.

"Calm down, Riley, and put that silly thing away," Helen said with a weak smile. Being Mormon caused Helen never to be very fond of the crucifix. It symbolized Christ's death, and she believed his life and resurrection to be more important. "I already told you everything that happened to me, so you know what's going on. Moira's a friend and she makes excellent food. She and a few other vampires seem to have made it their own personal duty to look over me like mother hens." She looked at Moira and shook her head. "Moira, you don't need to scare him. I think he gets the point. Jo-jo stop that infernal growling or you can go outside, and hopefully some ghouls will chew on you to teach you some manners," Helen finished sharply. Jo-jo stopped immediatelt, and sulked between her feet.

"Riley," she sighed, rubbing her eyes. "You know that I've never cared where I was treading when it came to theological grounds," Helen said with a short laugh. "In fact, when my last book came out the Archbishop of Canterbury sent me a lovely long letter condeming my book and telling me my soul was doomed to rot in purgatory."Agnes gave her her hot choclate, and Helen took a sip.

"I came to you because I did need someone I knew to talk to. You were the only one I could talk to who would listen to me without calling an asylum right away. I didn't expect you to believe me right away, but I knew you would let me talk without interruption. Besides," the professor smiled. "I thought you would benefit the most from it. No one's going to believe any of this really happened, so why not make it a good book? However, vampires' stories aren't really my cup of tea; historical fiction is as far from nonfiction as I get. Think of it, Riley, this could be your chance to write a fantastic story."

OOC:Woah, Hellsing RP has now literally exploded. Sorry bout' the long reply time, I had to go to work today :P

"My apologies Kyphus," Odakira said in his usual manner, "But I'm sure that a human is more likely to get thrashed by a squad of vampires and ghouls than a metallic beast of a killer." The vampire said this in a jokingly and friendly manner, hoping not to offend his companion.

Odakira saw that Moira was with Helen, and with Chris here, things should most definitely be fine. Whatever Mernov was doing was his own business. He never really seem too intent upon acting against these ghouls and what not, but it didn't bother Odakira. Then a thought ran through his mind about what Moira had asked earlier, but got wrapped up in his thoughts and lost it. How were they going to reach Vienna? He knew there was an airfield not too far from here, and with Chris having a vehicle, transportation there shouldn't be much of a problem with the number of people coming along.

"...Maybe I should go check that airfield, who knows what might be there."

This thought ran through quite quickly in the vampire's mind after his last remark to Kyphus, so it wasn't short of a moment when he spoke out again, "But now, my friend, I need you to stay and watch over the ladies, if you will. Our path to Vienna shall be in the sky, and I must see if the airfield is clear of any hostilities. If you would, please give these to Helen when she finished her chat with the priest-man." Odakira then removed his gun-filled sash from his side and placed it on the hood of Chris' car. Turning away from Chris, Odakira then began to walk towards the direction of the airfield, "I'll give the signal if things are clear. You'll know what it is when it comes."

The next step Odakira took after his last sentence, his figure vanished into the light of another passing vehicle.

OOC:Just letting you guys know... I'm gone tomorrow 'till next Friday. I'll be in Florida, with no Internet access... ;_; ;_; ;_; That's gotta be some form of child abuse. I mean, come on.

"Yes, I believe you mentioned the Archbishop's letter once," he said, his grasp on the cross relaxing slightly... though his glance continued to dart back to Moira. "From what I've heard, he's not the most pleasant man to disagree with-- but I never imagined you'd be uncomfortable with theological explosives." He managed a weak smile. "I was more worried about myself, to be honest."

By confiding in him, she was involving the Church in this mess. How much the church was involved would be decided entirely by him, of course, but the fact remained that it was involved. No big deal, really... as long as nobody asked him to venture forth armed with the Host and a Bible to slay vampires. If that happened, he would have no choice but to go as an agent of the Holy Catholic Church; while that may not mean much to Helen, the fact remained that it meant a good deal to Riley.

If, however, she was only telling him this as a plotline for a book...

Well, there appeared to be little to worry about, if that was the case. The damage, whatever it was, would be contained to him, and he was already a rather lousy priest (or so he thought sometimes… he was an alcoholic, often cynical, and far too jaded for a man of less than thirty years), so that didn't matter quite so much. "All right, then," he said, a bit more relaxed now-- his eyes still kept flickering back to the vampire girl-- "all I need is an ending."

Which brought him to the other thing that had him worried.

"What do you plan to do next?" he asked, his eyes meeting Helen's with an intense sort of solemnity. He was worried about her, that was certain. She was a tough girl, and could hold her own against a lot of people, but she no longer appeared to be dealing with people. According to her, these vampires were determined to guard her, and that made him feel a little better.

But only a little.

"Do you plan to stay with these, uh... guards? Or go home and never come out of your house at night again?"

"Well," Helen tapped her chin. "I don't have an ending quite yet... but I'll get back to you as soon as I get one." She took a sip of her hot chocolate and then stirred the surface with the tip of her finger. "And if I never get back to you, I'm sure you'll make up a splendid one, Riley." She gave a short chuckle and looked at Moira with a sad smile.

"I don't hide," Helen said. "You know that better than anyone else, and I'm not staying with them they're staying with me and they're free to leave me when ever they want too. I figure I'm not safe from these people, or monsters, or whatever you want to call them. My home, my classroom, even the one place where I'm supposed to be safe, I've been attacked. In fact, I was already kidnapped out of my bed in the organization, so I think they've made it quite clear that I am not safe anywhere with anyone. Therefore, there is absolutely no reason why I can't go around at night. It's no different from being anywhere else."

"As for what I'm going to do next," helen smiled at him a bit more brightly. Her green eyes glowed with excitement. "I'm off to Vienna to find out what this is all about! I've never been to Vienna before, have you?" She had never realized how dull grading papers were before all this happened. It was quite interestring, and to think itwas all happening to a college professor.

"Vienna?" Riley raised an eyebrow. "That's interesting. And no, I can't say I've ever been there. I've heard it's quite nice, but I never really got around to buying the ticket."

He shook his head, confused. "But that's beside the point. What on earth do you expect to find in Vienna?"

"Well," Helen scratched the side of her nose. "I haven't really thought about that. Everything's been happening so fast, so I've never really had time to think before something else happened. I've been using what little time I could find to myself to sleep... But I've been told that my enemy is in Vienna, so to Vienna I shall go." She took another sip and stared into her hot chocolate in silence for a moment.

"I want to find my ending," Helen said at last. "That's all. I want to find my ending so I can move on with my life the way it was before. That's why I'm going to Vienna."

Riley nodded. The vampires, he wasn't sure about. The Hey-let's-go-to-Vienna-- well, he would have had his doubts, had he been in her situation.

I've been told that my enemy is in Vienna, so to Vienna I shall go.

That he could understand.

Get away from the distractors. Find the enemy where you can fight him on a plain, level surface, face to face and blade on blade.

God, how many times he'd wished for a chance at that. EVIL, true black EVIL, was a difficult thing to find. All of the modern battles were more politics than religion. Abortion, the liberation of women, the suppression of violent crime... Riley wanted a challenge. He wanted to fight EVIL with all its masks removed. He wanted to fight EVIL face-to-face, without the messiness that always came with it.

He wanted a pure, clean face-off. Just goodness, or right, or God-- they were all names for the same thing-- against EVIL in its darkest form, Satan without the social issues that always hitched a ride with him.

But in the past years, he'd found that Satan was no longer a horned, cloven-hoofed demon of possession and temptation and murder. He had become the stupid drooling devil of slums and school shootings and the waste of the environment. And Riley had begun to wonder whether there was, perhaps, no such thing as EVIL, but only evil.

And then he'd walked into this pub and Helen had told him that vampires existed, and suddenly he felt the pull that he'd felt four years ago, when he'd been blessed and sent on his way to fight the evils that lurked in this world. (That had been when he was holding the bottle, not the other way around.) He felt that pull now, and he had to suppress the sudden urge to voice it.

"I hope you find it, then," Riley said, pushing away the envy he felt. Here at last was a simple GOOD and a true, dark, bloodsucking EVIL. "I want to know how it ends," he said, his voice mockingly stern, "so you'd better make it back here."

OOC:Crap. I dunno how to get Riley to Vienna with you guys. XD I guess we'll figure something out...

OOC:I have an idea... but I need my villain to be approved first. *cough cough*

Helen smiled at him with kind, warm eyes, and nodded. He was such a good friend, and she was tempted to ask him to come along because as excited as she was to get to Vienna and finish this nightmare, she was a bit, ok, very frightend of what could happen. It would be nice to have him with her as someone to keep her company, and she had a feeling that he wanted to come along as well. The way his eyes flickered in the dimly lit bar made her almost positive that if she asked him, he would agree to come along. She opened her mouth, and the invitation almost tumbled from her lips... almost. She had already lost her father, Jon, her neighbors, and ten students, and the last person she wanted was to lose was her friend. There was no way she would allow herself to put him in danger. He was a preist, not a slayer. Besides, she didn't know what the Catholic Church's position was on vampires, and Riley was always cautious when it came to reliously contrary subjects, despite his fascination for them.

"I'll be back before you know it," Helen said at last with a sigh. "You'll get your ending, Riley. I promise."

Chris sighed and shouldered the sling of lethality that Odakira had left on the hood of his car before vanishing like a cloud of dust. Well... it wasn't exactly Chris's car but who would take it from him if they took one glance at his true form? And that signal... just what did the old fang have in mind? At best, a psychic letter. At worst, a speedy return followed by an army of ghouls. In that case, the faster Chris delivered these weapons to Helen, the better prepared they would all be if all hell really did break loose.

Chris meandered through the pub's front door, making sure to bump into anything and anyone he wanted, following the blind man's routine. Wherever he swung his cane, it would go no matter what. Wherever he stumbled, someone would catch him. Was it worth it? Sure, for a few maniacal laughs.

"Good evening!" Chris grinned as he came to a slouched halt behind Helen (Kyphus must be wearing down again; he needed food). "I bear gifts of deadly intent"

Chris dropped the gun belt right into Helen's lap before rearing back his head, adjusting his opaque glasses and smiling with glinting fangs (yep, Kyphus was wearing down if he couldn't even mask his teeth).

Moira listened politely, not wanting to scare Riley anymore by being creepy. After he was done, she said, "Sorry for scaring you... I'm only half-vampire. As one of the rare dhampirs in this world, I'm supposed to be an ambassador of sorts, but I'm not very good at that..." Vampires look at me with disgust, and humans fear me... with only a few exceptions.

After Helen and Riley were done talking, Moira had a great respect for Helen. She was clearly outmatched, but had the courage to do what she needed to anyways. Everything had been stolen from her, and yet she kept moving forward. Moira liked her fierce spirit, although the part about not trusting Hellsing did make her a little depressed. I'll try to protect this woman the best I can, Moira thought. She deserves it.

"Hey, Chris," Moira said, nodding in his direction as he came in.

She gulped down the rest of her wine, now only lukewarm. "Well, I think we'd better get going. Off to the land of Wienerschnitzel," Moira said, standing up and gathering her gear. "To find Helen's happy ending." Moira's eyes became uncharacteristically soft, and she smiled at Helen and Riley. After all she's been through, she has a right to her happy ending. I just hope she'll get it.

It wasn't no more than a moment when another bright flash had happened, this time in front of airfield's entrance. Out of the light walked Odakira who took in the environment as soon as he could. A steel barred gate with a guard shack right next to it. The airfield was militaristic, and through the gates a few guards and aircrafts could be seen. Within the small building, a guard stood somewhat shakingly, trying and sucessfully convincing himself that it was only lightning that caused the flash (it was cloudy out, after all). The vampire then walked himself up to the building; resting an arm against the window and speaking through the small holes of it to the guard.

"Good evening, sir. May I come in for a moment?" Odakira asked in his usual manner.

The guard was a hefty middle-aged fellow. Shaking his head slightly after the light display and getting over it, he responded to the vampire's request, "A good evenin' to you as well, but I must have clearance to let you through." The man then brought his arms to cross at his chest, almost as if to be self-righteous or something of the sort.[/color:6e6391cecd]

"I see, well..." Odakira then cleared his throat and stood straight; letting his arm glide from the windows surface down to his side, then continued, "I am with the Hellsing Organization. I need a nice VIP jet and a pilot to fly us to Vienna. Are there any available?"

"We always have pilots ready to take off, but as for a jet, I can't give that kind of information out. I am not convinced you are with the Hellsing Organization. son." The guard's voice was more than obnoxious, but aggravating as well.[/color:6e6391cecd]

The tall and dark vampire heaved a sigh, then muttered under his breath to himself '...Very well.'

Odakira closed his eyes for a moment, but when he opened them again they were not the same. Crimson was all that could be seen in them; no pupil, no whites, no other colorization. Just a bloody red that glew lightly in the night. The guard at the moment had became frightened, reaching a hand to his pistol at his side, as well as nearly pissing himself. Seeing his reaction made the vampire give a toothily grin that exposed his elongated canines. He then spoke in what sounded like a demonic creature, "Again mortal, I am with the Hellsing Organization! Is this 'clear' enough for you?"

The guard did a little more than stutter for an answer, but manage to spit up some words. "Th-t-that will d-do fine!" The guard pressed a button on a console before him, and the steel gate slid open. Then the guard took a step outside of the small building and motioned for Odakira to follow, then began to walk towards a hangar.[/color:6e6391cecd]

Odakira took a step towards the guard, then stopped. His eyes then faded from their bloody state to their original looks, and his fangs sank back into his gums (but there were still unnaturally long compared to a human's canines). Turning around, the vampire held out his hand to have an orb of light fill his palm. As it faded, a dark raven formed and remained perched in his hand. The bird was completely black: no color in it's eyes, nor in it's talons. It didn't even have a reflection. It was nothing but a shadow. Odakira then threw his hand up, and the raven was off to it's destination. He then turned around and caught up to the guard, "Show me what you have..."

The Raven flapped and glided through the air at a high rate of speed towards it's target. It wasn't long before it was above the pub where everyone resided. When it was directly above the building, it pivoted into a spiral nosedive. Once it came into contact with the ceiling, it's figure slipped through it like if it were ethereal. Giving a flap of it's wings to steady itself from it's dive, it flapped over towards Chris and the others. Landing on the blind man's shoulder, it waited a moment to make sure it was noticed, then gave a quiet 'squawk' before it faded into nothingness; accomplishing it's task.[/color:6e6391cecd]
