Her eyes stared at a blank spot on the far wall. "If I had just stayed inside that night, none of this would have happened." She stood up, neatly folded the blanket and placed it on the table. The cold tile floor bit her toes, but she ignored it. "I would have never come here, and I wouldn't have been kidnapped. Shadows wouldn't have been hurt, Mernov wouldn't have wasted his time perhaps, your friends would still be alive and well." She sighed, and tucked her hair behind her ears. "Now, please excuse me, gentlemen." Helen walked out of the hospital ward calmly, and waited until she had turned the corner before she leaned against it and sighed. She looked down at the engagement ring on her left hand, and sighed sadly.
Helen walked at a brisk pace down the halls, following Shadows' trail of blood back to the room where Erika was. She almost ran into Walter, who was on his way back to the hospital wing. "Miss Thames?" the butler started, but Helen had already disappeared behind another corner. She sighed and continued on his way. Helen stopped at the doorway of Erika's room, knocked gently, and entered the room. She kneeled next to the Nazi vampiress, and humbly bowed her head. "Please forgive me," she said softly. "I-I know this must be hard for you." |

"Aim at me, do you?" the tall vampire asked with a grin. "My, how your accuracy has degraded! Still training to get that barn, are we?" Mernov released a quick breath of air in lieu of a chuckle, then quietted to follow the conversation. Overall it was rather boring, not of any particular interest. Then, he heard the explanation for the vial of blood. He almost had difficulty restraining himself from laughing at the silly notion. It was almost romantic, really -- the tall vampire had not heard of such a situation in a great many years. "Honestly," said Mernov with a hint of boredom in his voice, "what a formality! My friend, her master is dead -- she is free already. What she would need - if she has not already done so -- is to take her own victim, to experience the hunt for herself." He leaned back against the wall and revealed a slender cigar from an inner pocket in his jacket. With a flourish of his hand, it caught the flame, and Mernov took a long draw on it before exhaling lazily. Not suprisingly, it drifted towards Odakira in a rather haphazard way -- it seemed as though the tall vampire had subconsciously exhaled in the white-clad vampire's direction. He remained silent through the rest of Odakira's vague attempts at apologizing to Helen, as well as her brusque dismissal of said apologies. It was almost humorous, and Mernov once again had to specifically think about not laughing, instead allowing a smile to crawl upon his face as he enjoyed his smoke. |

Only a day ago she had been happily together with Wolfgang; her lifelong friend and day-long lover, and now he was gone. Slowly the Nazi sat up on her knees, the remains of Wolfgang's ashes littering her golden hair, causing it to be a dull, mustard-like color. She gently ran her hand along the floor, her fingers brushing over the rough ashes as she wept silently. Erika wasn't sure of what she was going to do anymore. It was likely that Sir Hellsing was going to kill her; there was no doubt about it.
She didn't know which fate was worse; dying at the hands of Hellsing, or living. Just as she felt as if she were going to be completely enveloped in sorrow, there came a knock at the door. Erika slowly raised her head to look up at the girl and smiled weakly. As the human came to kneel beside her, the Nazi brushed the ash from her jacket and shook her head slightly, thin strands of golden hair falling from behind her shoulders, some lightly hanging over her cerulean eyes. "I'm fine, thank you. Don't worry about me. If anything, I should be apologizing to you. I wounded you badly, and I apologize for that...", she almost whispered, staring blankly at the tiles of the floor. Erika dropped her head and chuckled lightly, her shoulders shaking uneasily. "I suppose this is what I deserve, isn't it?", she whimpered, her voice weak. Turning to look at the human, she smiled weakly, an expression of internal sorrow and remorse reflected in her eyes. "Please, do all that you can to keep from becoming... this.", she pleaded, holding her palms upwards to explain what she meant. "There's nothing more painful than being one of the living dead. I would have much rather died all those years ago than be living, if you could even call this living." She looked up at the cieling and pushed a few strands of hair behind her ear, her weak smile slowly fading. [/color:13870792a6] Jeanne was less than happy to see Mernov dissapear just as quickly as he had come. The young vampire hugged her arms and shivered, glancing about for something that wasn't darkness. She couldn't hear, smell, or feel anything at all; there was nothingness. I hope he comes back soon... I really... don't fancy the idea of staying in this for five minutes... she thought to herself, taking a small step forward. Her foot felt like it dropped several feet, and Jeanne fell onto her hands and knees, her small frame trembling slightly as she pulled her dress out from under her knees. "What was that...?" she whimpered, massaging her bruised ankle. Jeanne reached out and felt about the ground, but felt no change in level from where she had been to where she had apparently just fallen. Thoroughly confused, and frightened, Jeanne, huggled her knees and put her chin on her knees, stifling her tears. Hurry back... Mernov... she mumbled in her mind, buring her face in her arms. Odakira spoke in response, turning to face him as the wave of smoke Mernov exhaled drifted around his chest and face. Not minding the smoke or Mernov's ways of either being a troublemaker, or just a plain kidder, he continued, "But I rather do this for my old friend. It was what Wolfgang wanted, and I believe he is correct."
Just at the end of his sentence, Walter entered the medical room. With a flick of his wrist, the butler threw the now-filled bottle of Wolfgang's blood in the direction of the white vampire. Snatching it in his hand, he gave a small bow to Walter, as well giving him some appreciation, "Thank you, Walter." In response, Walter bowed back lowly, then went on about his business. Though he was still confused as to why Helen was running about freely in the halls, he had more important matters to tend to. Such as getting the Mansion's entrance repaired. Obviously no one is going to be getting in or out for a while that way. Placing the vial in his pocket, as well as raising from his bow, Odakira turned back to look at Shadows. "Everything should be calm for a while now, that is... 'til we find out about this 'Talona' Order or Cult." His voice was reassuring in it's tone, as well as fluant in it's tongue. Turning on his heel, the white cloaked vampire left the room; speaking while taking his leave, "I have some matters to attend to, if you'll excuse me." Odakira's form then vanished in a bright flash, as if lightning had just struck before the two vampire's sights, disappearing from the medical bay... |

“Look at yourself,” she sighed sadly. “The Erika I dueled would have never accepted this. She would have never sulked, and given up. Do not settle for less, Erika! It doesn’t suit you at all.” She held Erika’s chin in her hand with a firm but gentle grip, and stared into the vampire’s crimson eyes with her warm emerald ones. “You are not the first who has found love only to have it ripped away from you by a gunshot. I truly understand what you are feeling Erika, and you cannot allow it to consume you so easily. Go ahead, and mourn what you had and what will never be, and then move on.” Helen held Erika’s hands in hers. “You may be undead, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop living. Make something of yourself. You have enormous potential, child. Trust me, I’m a teacher; I see these things. I’m sure you could find a job here at Hellsing. Why stop there? You could go back to Germany and create your own organization!” Helen walked to the door, and paused as her hand grabbed the doorknob. “There are no hard feelings on my part,” Helen told her. “My only regret is that it was my hand that ended Wolfgang’s life. However, if you allow yourself to waste away, I will never forgive you. Besides,” she gave her a small smirk. “I want a rematch.” OOC:Wooo! Pep talks... |

Move your asses, you worthless line cooks!” Moira, the head chef, yelled angrily as she brought in a wild boar carcass to Hellsing’s kitchens. She was tired from dragging the dead beast, and annoyed with her cooks. They were positively incapable of doing anything without her!
The big pig dropped from her arms onto the prep table with a boom. She skinned it in less than five minutes, and threw the pelt over her shoulder, in the general direction of the Dumpster. When she was done, the cooks fell upon it, filleting and dicing it for various uses and then carrying away their portions. “Hey, Grill Bitch, where are the truffles? Where are the f*cking truffles?? …We’ve run out of truffles, and basil too? Oh God.” Moira mopped her brow with a towel, and then ran out into the garden, cursing out the people gathering produce and herbs before telling them what she needed. “I need five pounds of each, NOW! It’s almost time to serve and I don’t have all my damn ingredients!” She went back into the steamy kitchen. It was true that she didn’t have to cook anymore, but was it worth the tradeoff? Eventually she raised her head once more to look at the human girl and smiled. "Thank you.", was all that she could really say. "I suppose you are right. I need to be strong now, don't I?" Erika then pushed herself off of the floor and stood, raising her arms over her head in a long streatch. With a less sombre face she left the room, and her sorrow behind.
The Nazi stopped in the middle of the hallway as she came to the room where Mernov, as well as another vampire, and Odakira who was presently leaving the area via teleportation. Slowly she eased the door open and stepped into the room, glancing at the others present. Looking over to the other vampire who seemed to be a friend of Mernov's, Erika noticed that there was a rather large wound on his chest, most likely that of a bullet. The wound, however, seemed to be healing rather quickly, and the vampire did not seem to be bothered by it. "I'm back.", she said flatly, looking up at Mernov. She eyed this vampire curiously, almost analyzing the one who had taken away everything she held dear. Yet, though she loathed most everything about this vampire, there was something about him that almost drew her in; his eyes, his stature, his intimidating stare. Erika shivered slightly and took a step away from him as she sat down upon the mahogany desk. The Nazi pursed her lips momentarily before she put her hands down onto the desk, grasping the edge with her delicate fingers. "So, what is to become of me?", she asked, her accented voice breaking the silence.[/color:f634fbc0c6] |

Reappearing within the darkness of his room, Odakira whisked off his white coat and threw it about a chair softly. Knowing now that he had Wolfgang's blood, the now black-apparelled vampire sat himself within a chair and sighed. Rather to be stealthy, and somewhat betraying, or up front and honest, Odakira had no clue how he'd have Erika drink the crimson bodily fluid of her Master. Maybe Mernov was right, but from what the Order taught Odakira, he thought it best to take the 'extra step' in the ritual. Bringing up his gloved hand, the vampire wiped his dark brown hair from his eyes, and leaned back into his seat. Then suddenly, a shiver ran down his spine. It was strange, especially for someone as Odakira to actually feel this sensation. Odakira turned his head quickly, and caught glance of a vampire adorned in a red long coat; just in the split second of him vanishing into darkness. The cold air soon dissipated. Though it was uncomfortable, it was familiar in a sense. Like a distant family member. Maybe the rumors of Alucard were true... Reaching into the pocket of his hanged coat, the vampire clasped his hand around the vial of blood and stared through it's thick viscosity. That's when he made the decision, "I'll do it for you Wolfgang..." Odakira whispered to himself quietly, giving a nod of his head, "Just as you would wish it to be done." |

Then she turned her head to look at the pile of ashes with her eyes narrowed before her eyes softened. She sighed and left the room, closing the door behind her. The professor entered the room she had been using, and to her surprise, it wasn’t empty.
A woman sat at a small table in the corner of the room while sipping tea. She had long, blonde hair, and she wore glasses and a nice suit. Jo-jo was standing on his hind legs with his head and front paws resting in her lap, and he seemed to be enjoying the way the woman was scratching him behind the ears. Helen ruled out the option of her being a vampire, since Jo-jo still wasn’t fond of vampires. “Professor Thames, I’ve been waiting to talk to you,” she said pleasantly, and motioned to the chair across from her. “Please, sit down, and join me for a cup of tea.” Helen obeyed, and took the seat that was offered. The glare of the candles lessened slightly, and she could see her hostess’ eyes were icy blue. “Here you go,” she said as she handed Helen a cup of tea. “Thank you,” Helen said and she took the cup. “You seem to have the advantage here. You know who I am, but I don’t even know your name.” “You may call me Sir Hellsing,” she said in an even tone. “I am the head of the Hellsing Organization.” Helen nodded, and Jo-jo left Sir Hellsing to lay at the professor’s feet. “Now, I understand that you are here because of a few incidents with the undead. I would like you to-” Helen shook her head and stood up to leave. “No, I don’t want-” “Sit down, Professor,” barked Sir Hellsing coldly. Helen obeyed immediately, and returned to her seat. “Now, I would like you to recount everything that happened from the first night before you came here to when you shot Wolfgang.” She smiled slightly at the surprise on Helen’s face. “This is my organization, and I like to stay well-informed. Now, please, begin.” Helen was silent for a moment before she began to speak about how she was walking Jo-jo when she was chased, and attacked, and hunted by vampires and ghouls. She told her about how Odakira saved her, and how she was kidnapped. She spoke of her duel with Erika, and how her neighbors were murdered. She told her about the attack on her classroom, and then how she shot Wolfgang. She tried to summarize her story, but Integra was merciless in her interrogation, and would make Helen go back and retell parts of her account in greater detail. Finally, Sir Hellsing nodded in satisfaction, and Helen couldn’t stop a sigh of relief from escaping her lips. “Thank you for your cooperation, Professor Thames,” she nodded and stood up to leave. “But you haven’t had your any of your tea.” Helen looked at the cup in front of her with hesitantly. “It’s herbal tea, if that's what you’re worried about. Walter will be extremely disappointed if you don’t drink any of it. Good night, or 'good morning' is a bit more accurate, isn't it?” She sounded almost amused by Helen’s intensiveness, and without another glance, she left the room. The professor smiled sheepishly, and sipped the tea in silence. Finally, she thought. I can think in peace… When she was about half-way through the cup she started to feel disoriented, and sluggish. Now what’s wrong with me? She placed the cup on the table ad tried to stand up, but found that her knees were too weak. Then she felt gloved hands grip her arms and help support her. “Careful, Professor,” said a familiar, crisp voice. “Walter,” Helen moaned wearily. “What did you put in that tea?” “Just a little something to help you sleep,” replied the butler, and he steered her toward the bed. “You’ve been through quite a bit, and a good day’s sleep is precisely what you need. You’ll wake up a little before sunset, I think… Besides,” he continued with a chuckle as he tucked Helen in. “You tend to get into trouble when you’re awake. We don’t want to worry Shadows, do we?” Helen didn’t answer because she was already asleep. Jo-jo tried to get on the bed, but Walter shooed him off. However, once the butler was gone, the Labrador puppy hopped onto the bed, and curled up next to his mistress. |

Reappearing next to the door of the medical bay, the vampire caught the last words of Erika's voice.
"There is nothing that will 'become' of you, my friend." He responded quickly. With a simple nod to Mernov and Shadows to notify that it was okay, Odakira turned around and waved his hand in the direction of which he faced to Erika. "Follow me, please." With this being said, Odakira made his way down the dark hall which would lead to his quarters. The Nazi lingered in the doorway momentarily, letting her gaze linger on Mernov for only a few seconds before she ripped her eyes from him to follow after the white vampire. Still confused, Erika followed after the old friend, awaiting her answer.

"Gueverez and Ha, make the guests' meals I just rattled off. The rest of you concentrate on making the buffet items." Moira set to making the stew. Cilantro, stock, chives, her hands flew over the boiling water. She sliced a pork chop, and some mixed vegetables, and added that as well. She scraped off her cutting board, and waited. After much cursing, stirring, and waiting, it was done. Moira put it in a nice bowl with parsley on the side, and placed it on the tray. Turning to walk to one of the doors, it looked as if he were about to walk into it, but it opened accordingly to his walk; simply using his power to open the door for himself and Erika. Stopping beside the coffin-bed, he removed his white coat and threw it onto the coffin lid's surface (though before doing this, he removed the bloodvial from his pocket, and concealed it within his hand). Gesturing his free hand out to one of the elaborate chairs before the table, his voice filled the room richly to the Nazi's ears, "Have a seat, you must be tired..." After doing this, he walked over to a small dresser across the room. Placing the vial down behind a small mirror, which obviously wouldn't benefit to a vampire, Odakira turned around again, and sat at the seat across from where Erika would sit. It was good to be back. Kyphus stood at the gates of Hellsing manor, just standing placently, waiting for someone within the manor to come and question him, a blind man, loitering at the gates. But in the meantime, Kyphus took in the cold air, letting the air fill his lungs. Just then, a gust of wind blew past, tossing his blonde hair in the breeze. It felt strange and familiar, having hair again, like a two century-old memory, which it was. And now, after all this time it was back on his head, swaying delicately. Although he could not see it, Kyphus felt elated in the moment, and hair was only the first thing he had had restored. Now he was in the main hallway. The guards had been kind enough to let him in once he had explained himself. Of course, they had not realized who he was at first until Kyphus released his grip on the mirage for a split second, revealing his grim visage before restoring it to his body. After a quick moment of stunned silence the guards allowed him into the manor. So here he was in the hallway, reveling in the echoes it brought him in sound and memory. Then he realized, sound. He had to learn to live without his "ghost vision" (his mind's sight based upon sound). Slowly and hesitantly, Kyphus shutdown his clairvoyance, keeping it to a natural minimum. That's when he noticed how fortunate he was to have his cane again (which subtly concealed a rapier within). He was blind for now; might as well act like a blind man. Taking in the air once again, Kyphus smiled. No, he was no longer Kyphus. Kyphus was his monster, his curse. He was Christopher Valens again, the young English surgeon whose ambition and brilliance had led him to his "death". He was once again handsome, whole and, most importantly, human. Dressed in a black jacket with matching pants, dark spectacles over his eyes, and cane in hand, Chris began struggling down the hallway. As he went on down the hallway, he wondered where his 'friends' were today. Were they off killing more ghouls? Maybe it was just another lazy day. And what was that sound coming from further down the hallway? Was it real or in his head? Christopher desperately wanted to open his "eye" but was determined to resist. He would figure out what it was as soon as he made his way in. |
