Erika shivered when she felt Wolfgang's deep, German voice penetrate her mind. Clutching the sleeves of her shirt tightly, she turned to look at the floor, seemingly on the edge of crying again, or screaming. "I... I'm fine... but it isn't as if you care.. you want me dead... just leave me alone, Wolfgang... I know you don't love me..", she replied, tears slowly brimming on the edge of her eyelids and slowly trickling down her cheeks. The Nazi bit her lip, trying to stifle the tears which seemingly never stopped.[/color:a04fe27f2e]

Wolfgang lowered his head, a sigh of shame pouring between his lips to her words. It was shame that held back the tall Nazi to speak out again to her. The shame as if he had done more wrong than he had known himself. It was unbelievable that he would want her dead, it was proposterous. He raised his head again, his eyelids shut tightly as he held back the bloody fluid of his eyes from exposing themselves upon his pale face, his fangs unconcealed as they grit tightly together. Though he expressed an unsupressed anger in his face, much like a child having been punished for something he didn't do, his voice was calming and deep. Much calming as it had been when he used to tell late night stories to Erika long ago, before they were changed.

"Erika, what makes you think I want you dead? What makes you think I don't love you? Did we not only find each other's love for one another in my office three nights ago...?"

Something struck Wolfgang's face blankly, the expression of surprise filled his facial complexions to his own thoughts. Here it was, they had been expressing one another's love as if they were lovers for a long moment of time, but only had proven so three nights ago. When he had proven his love then, he used none of his vampiric powers whatsoever that Mernov spoke of, Wolfgang spoke truly of what he felt. He only used his vampiric powers to woo Erika into becoming a vampire... So that they could be together forever because not only did Wolfgang love her...She was all he had.

"How can she say I wanted her dead...?" The blonde man asked himself in a whisper to this realization in his thoughts. "How can she say I didn't love her?" His eyes widened to the thought of Mernov, his words, his figure, the way he spoke so sure of this. He was surprised that a vampire could be of such danger from a manipulation. It was manipulation of what Mernov had knew to simply throw the words of the two lovers into a bundle of mixed thoughts and confusion. "We became so lost in our hearts, we didn't even realize our love back then... I can see how Mernov played us for fools so easily now."

Love. Love can make all blind. For Mernov being the 'blindfold', he easily twisted Wolfgang's thoughts. But Wolfgang could see through it now. Though, he worried... Could he make Erika believe...?

"Mernov played us for fools Erika, believe me!" His toen rang like a bell in Erika's head, still soothing, but shouting in a whisper. Beckoning for her cooperation. A crimson tear fell from Wolfgang's face, and burnt a hole in the floor below him.[/color:68b7aeeb63]

With a small smirk, Odakira nodded, though Helen could not see this in the dark. Chuckling lightly, he spoke out in his usually tone with sarcasm hidden in the back of his vocals, "Let's just say you took out a vampire and ghoul brigade on your own..." With this, he took a step forward closer to the bed, the pale moonlight that leaked in from the windows exposed his bright figure, only faintly to her sights though. He brought up his gloved hand and nimbly moved some hair out of the woman's eyes, and brought it back to cross at his chest.

"So..." He said this in almost a whisper as he leaned down closer to her, maybe a foot from her face as he spoke, "How are you feeling?" He was curious as to what the woman was going through; hoping he may comfort or lend a hand in any way necessary. She was important, but why she was is the question. He would have to wait to find out...

Helen could see Odakira a bit better now that he was in the moonlight. The light reflected off of his cloak causing him to seem to glow slightly. She looked up at him with her green eyes when he leaned over her. The moonlight only revealed half of his face, the other half was cast in shadow, but his gaze wasn't any less piercing.

"How am I feeling?" Helen echoed softly. "Well, physically I feel like I've been hit by a bus..." she grimaced as she tried to sit up again. "Repeatedly," she added as she gave up. "I think of I've been pushing myself too far, too often..." the professor sighed. "I'll be fine, I just need to take it easy."

Emotionally, Helen was a mess. There were simply too many emotions and feelings to deal with. The blood shed from last night still burned in her memory like a nightmare, except she knew it was real. She had broken the sixth commandment, and it affected her more than she would admit. True, she had probably killed the vampire from the alley that first night, but it happened so quickly, and it was too dark to really see what was going on.

Last night was completely different. She remembered every face, every scream, and she could almost feel their blood on her hands. It made her skin crawl, and she wondered whether they had families, after all they were once humans as well. Many of them didn't have a choice, the ghouls were simply obeying their orders. Her eyes stung slightly, and Helen closed her eyes for a moment.

Her mind felt clear as a bell, and Helen was grateful for it. She was alert, and able to stem the tide of emotions. You fought only in self-defense, her mind told her heart. You are not at fault. You're safe now, calm down...

Her eyes snapped open. "Jo-jo!" she exclaimed, as she catapulted into a half-sitting position. Her face was merely inches away from Odakira's. Her green eyes shone unhappily with desperation. "Where is he? Is he still at the school?" She closed her eyes and shook her head. "I can't believe I didn't notice before! He would have been right next to me the moment I woke up..." The idea of her puppy being alone in a closet all day was unbearable.

She ignored the protests of her muscles as she rolled out of bed. She shivered as her feet touched the cold stone floor, and then looked down at herself and noticed she was dressed in a night gown. Helen shook her head, she would wonder who changed her clothes later, right now she needed her dog.

Odakira quickly grabbed Helen by the shoulder, his touch cold as ever, but not hard in it's grasp. He backed her up until she sat back down onto the bed as he shook his head in disregard of what the woman was doing. He removed his hand from her, and crossed his arms once again. He spoke out in a lower tone than before, almost as if he was trying to charm her, but he was only simply stating his concern.

"Helen, you must stay here, I'll go retrieve Jo-jo for you." A smile crept acrossed his face, and he soon took a step back. His hands fell to his sides and rested at where they resided. With a simple nod, a white flame sprouted from where Odakira stood, lighting up the room with a warm glow as it consumed his tall figure. Vanishing from the room, it became dark again.

A flash of light emitted once again in the school room. Odakira found his footing to be sunken into a pile of the dust from the battle. He truned his head quickly as police officers could be heard walking down th halls. The white vampire quickly ran over to the closet, and threw it open. To his surprise, Jo-jo had lunged out quite quickly and locked his jaws onto his arms. Odakira smiled vaguely to the animal as it had done this, grappling and flailing about as it roared like a beast. Much to his dismay, Odakira turned his head to see the faint shadows of the police coming down the hall. He glanced back down at the dog, his expression unchanged as the sleeve of his coat had became red. He quickly wrapped his other arm around the dog, and vanished swiftly in his display of flames. The police saw light emitting from a room, but upon entry it was empty. They stood there and scratched their heads in confusion as to what could create the light.

In what almost seemed to be a moment of time, Odakira reappeared before Helen in his usual display with Jo-jo in his arms. Thanks to the darkness, his "injury" was unnoticed to the human eyes Helen had. He turned Jo-jo to see Helen, and sat him amongst the floor in front of her.

"All you had to do was ask..." The white cloaked man said in a reassuring tone to her sudden display of worry for Jo-jo, his smile still engraved upon his face like it had been before he left.

"Jo-jo!" Helen cried happily, and fell to her knees in front of the labrador puppy. Jo-jo barked and leapt in to her arms, licking her face excitedly, and his tail wagged happily. "Thank you, Odakira," she said sincerely, and she looked up at him with gratitude shining in her eyes. "You have no idea how much he means to me." She set him down next to her, and stood up and hugged Odakira. He felt so cold against her bare arms, but she didn't care at the moment. "Thank you..."

Jo-jo tugged on the hem of her nightgown, and wimpered, begging for attention. Helen laughed and knelt down the puppy. "You jealous little beast," she said cheerfully as she rubbed his belly. Helen stood up and sat back up onto the bed. Jo-jo leapt up onto it after her and rested his head in her lap.

"I hope he didn't give you any trouble," Helen frowned slightly at the puppy. She knew Jo-jo didn't enjoy being it the company of vampires. Jo-jo seemed to understand because he looked up at her with his angelic, "I-didn't-do-anything" eyes. Helen narrowed her eyes at the dog, and looked over to Odakira. "If he did, I apologize."

A troubled expression became engraved upon the facets of Odakira's face to Helen's hug. It was strange, to be hugged. Stranger it being done by a human. Humans usually were scared fo vampires, and had tendancies to run away. As her arms came undone from around him, he shrugged off the awkward feeling. With now his usual smiled sorned upon his face, he gave a low bow to the lady before him. His dark brown hair fell over his face as he spoke out in a deep resonating tone that filled the room with the glory within his simple deed. "It was nothing."

As he rose, his hair had fell neatly over his right eye, exposing one of his golden optics in the darkness around his face and form. Then he spoke out once more, reassuring in his sound to the lady's curiousity to her pet's actions. "Not at all, he was fine. A little jumpy, that's all." Odakira emphasized jumpy with some sarcasm in his tone.

Underneath the gnawed cloth of his white cloak, the puncture wounds that Jo-jo left had healed, though the cloth itself remained stained from his bodily fluids soaking into it.

Odakira then decided to take a seat amongst the bed, not next to Helen, but Jo-jo. He let out a sigh as the thoughts of making her his apprentice flooded his mind once again. Especially of what the others had been saying, and whatever else they had thought. He shook his head, and glanced over to Helen, his worries hidden well behind his smile as he asked in questioning, "So, I believe you might want to stay here in Hellsing for a while, eh?"

Though this was much off-topic to what was rambling in his mind, Odakira tried in a desperate matter within his thoughts to try and get off subject before he was driven mad once again by what the others thought of him.

Mernov grinned toothily as he heard her use the word "illusion." It was ironic, yes, but also probably unintentional. After all, she didn't appear to know the truth behind what happened last night, and Mernov didn't intend to reveal it to her. He looked with interest upon her tears and listened curiously to her sobs. She was rather emotional for a vampire, but Mernov decided to attribute that to her being female, and once a human at that. In his experience, the tall vampire had found that human females were extremely tricky and impossible to predict. Thus, whenever he was surprised or otherwise confused by the behavior of a female vampire like Erika, he attributed it to this unpredictability.

"Your fault?" Mernov said in a surprisingly knowledgeable tone of voice. "Nonsense. Even if you hadn't listened to the truth I gave you, what you and Wolfgang would have now would still be a lie. In your heart, you know that. You always thought he was too obsessive, and in your heart you knew your relationship was false. In reality, everything is his fault." At this time, the tall vampire sensed that she must be speaking with Wolfgang telepathically. Her expression was carelessly distracted, and so it was quite obvious. However, he decided to ignore this, hoping that the Nazi would not screw things up.

"Now, dear girl, have you any further things you wish me to clarify?"

Jo-jo growled softly as Odakira sat down next to him, but he kept his head in Helen's lap allowing his mistress was able to quiet him by scratching the puppy behind the ears. She looked up at the ceiling thoughtfully for a moment after the vampire mentioned staying at the manor.

I don't want to, she thought to herself. But I'm running out of options. Luckily, it's a weekend, so I don't have to worry about classes tomorrow. I could stay with mum until I can go back into my flat again, but theses ghouls seem to follow me everywhere! I don't want to risk her safety, so...

"I suppose I'll stay," Helen said with a slight smile playing on her lips. "Only until I can get my flat back from the police." Which won't be anytime soon, since they suspect I have something to do with the murders of my neighbors, she thought with a sigh. And they aren't too far off. I am partially responsible. "I hope it won't be too much trouble."

Erika frowned, looking up at the cieling, she shouted out to someone who was obviously not in the room presently. "The only one who's a fool here is ME! I was the one who actually believed you!" At this point, the Nazi was crying uncontrollably, gripping the sheets of her bed tightly. "I let you play me for a complete fool! And you did it to me! Don't talk to me again, EVER!" she finished, closing her eyes as she finished screaming.

When Mernov spoke up again, Erika glanced up at him, her eyes brimming with crimson tears. "Clarify...?" she replied, thinking for a moment. "Well... for starters... what are you going to do to me..." she whispered, looking down at the ground. "If you're going to kill me, just do it now.. I don't have the will to live anymore."[/color:cdc39411ec]

Wolfgang feel to one knee, almost as if he had been hit by a train that threw the breath out of his already lifeless body with a great amount of force. Tears streamed from the lower lids of his eyes, burning into the wooden floor as they came into contact with it. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. It had been that his whole world was now torn apart by the words of a vampire. Much worse, he couldn't even find the strength in his cold heart to beg for forgiveness. There was nothing; for him, for Erika, for his existance... The tall vampire knew what must be done. Taking in a long, soothing breath, he stood to his feet once again. His eyes were blank, and completely un-tuned to the physical world itself. His face was emotionless, pale and smooth, only to have two red rivers flowing from his crimson optics to his chin. With a small pivet to his footing, the tall Nazi vampire traversed the room in a slow pace to the drawers of his desk. As he did this, he sent yet another message to his idol that forsaken him.

"Erika... There are only two ways to free you..."

Opening the middle drawer to his desk, a Luger lied in the wooden shelf. He equipped the gun into his hand, the other grabbing a clip next to it. Underneath the weaponry and its accessories; a picture of Erika and himself layed. It was taken from the moment that he was about to leave for the war.

"Drink my blood, and be free from my power, and become whole yourself."

The tip of his thumb emitted steam, and his flesh burned with every silver bullet he ejected from the gun's clip. As he came to one bullet left in it, he injected the ammunition into the gun, then turned the safety off. He slumped back into his chair that sat behind him, and stared blankly at the barrel of the gun.

"...The second you know... Make your choice, mein liebe."

Wolfgang's figure was motionless, in his mind it seemed forever as he awaited the reply. But there was no other choice. He couldn't live without Erika. They had been together over a century, only for it to end over the wooing words of a slick-tongued vampire. He found it hard to understand, but disregarded it as he awaited the choice of his... Love... [/color:601047fb99]

Odakira gave a nod, ignoring the dog as he grumbled at him. He spoke out with the upmost tone of duty in his words, "You will be of no trouble, Helen." His vocals resonated in the darkness like the evening wind. He then glanced down at the floor, the light to his back which completely over-shadowed his face. "Besides, you seem to be of trouble outside the mansion." He added on, trying to be a little sarcastic to lighten the mood a bit. For a Creature of the Night, Odakira didn't believe in such a way to act, but to be respectful to others as Count Dracula had been himself.

"Maybe you belong here." He said this with the same amount of sarcasm, but then shook his head as he slapped himself in his mind. The thoughts of what the others said came back to tear through his mind.'You opened your mouth again, Odakira...' His mind grumbled at himself.

"Trouble is my middle name," Helen answered playfully. She felt a little relieved that he wasn't sounding as business-like as usual, it always made her feel tense. Jo-jo closed his eyes as she continued to stroke him.

Maybe I belong here?! her smile faded slightly. True, she felt comfortable, but out of place, and a burden as well. he was only teasing... that's all. She shook her head slightly, and forced a small chuckle.

"No, Odakira," she said in softer tones. "I could never stay here... my place is in a classroom."

Mernov decided to ignore her bout of schizophrenia as she screamed at the ceiling. He knew who she was yelling at, of course, and almost found it difficult to surpress a smile. He felt that as every moment passed, he became more proud of his mischief. While it was true that killing an enemy out-right was all well and good, in Mernov's opinion what really encompassed a complete and utter defeat was the amount of suffering endured. The more the pain, the better -- and mental pain, as everyone knows, hurts much worse than any physical wound.

"Indeed," Mernov responded in a viciously devilish manner, "what will I do to you? Shall I end your misery quickly, or shall I make your death slow and painful? Or, perhaps I might merely let you live." Mernov allowed this to sink in for a solid ten seconds before he continued. "Now, the part that is your decision is this: would life be a second chance at greatness, or would it be the greater of two evils?" Again Mernov paused deliberately, knowing full well that the effect of words was best savored, rather than rushed through.

"Shall I leave you to tackle this quandary, or do you perhaps have another query for me?"

She heard Wolfgang speaking in her mind, but chose to ignore him. Hanging her head, she stared down into the floor, almost as if she could see straight through it. The girl mumbled something softly, not nearly loud enough to reach Mernov's ears. After she rubbed her eyes, she looked up at Mernov, quickly turning her gaze away from his. "Just.. kill me, Mernov." she whispered, glancing up at him again. Pushing the hair from her face, she stared at him, her expression grim. "Do it now. I'm sick of living, if you can call this sorry excuse of an existance life..."

Erika stood up from the bed and shuffled over to him, reaching for his holster as she looked up at him. "I deserve to die anyway; I'm an idiot.. for believing him. Send me to someplace where I won't feel pain anymore."

His face an overshadowed silhouette, Wolfgang waited in the silence that of which now became his sanity. The barrel of his firearm rested against his temple lightly, his head lowered and eyes gazing amongst the picture in his desk drawer. It was indeed going to be a long moment. In his mind though, the gun was looking a little... friendly...[/color:526864acfd]

Odakira could easily sense the trouble in her mind, for he could tap into almost anything's mentality and thoughts with the smallest of eye-contact. As to her thoughts though, he realized that at one time he was like Helen. He did belong someplace at one time, till he met two very special people; a boy and a girl. Wolfgang and Erika. His life would have been completely isolated, and filled with loneliness have it not been for them two inspiring him to be more social with others. Having had watched them grow from children, to adults, to the lovers they used to be. It was hard to tell what would come next in between them two.

"Life may seem to be plotted down one path, Helen..." He said this, almost as if being a teacher to her in his tone, "...But sometimes, Fate will blow a gust at youy that will sweep you down another." His eyes narrowed slightly in the shadows that concealed them, he could feel a familiar presence closeby; It was Erika. Why would she be here, unless she had given up? Maybe Mernov's plan was more than a sucess.

Mernov now allowed himself a sinister grin -- things were almost going too well. He paused, cautioning himself not to get overconfident, as this all could easily be a ploy to catch him off guard. He then took one swift step forward, placing himself within a meter of the upset young woman. He looked down at her, for he was quite a bit taller than her, and cupped her chin with his strong, dextrous hand. He tilted her head up and offered her a piercing stare which seemed to cut straight through to her soul.

"You wish to die?" the tall vampire asked, keeping his rich powerful voice, down to a softer volume to heighten the piercing effect of his words. He paused, as though indicating she should answer, but deliberately continued before she could do so. "Then you shall live. Live, inasmuch as one such as ourselves can live, and discover the weaknesses in yourself. Find your true enemy -- be it fear, anger, or even another being such as those who served under you, or even that obsessive vampire whom you used to call master. Then, with this enemy in your sight, seek out ways to destroy this villain and make yourself better for it.

"I know your feelings -- I have been around long enough to learn or experience or understand -- or even some twisted combination of the three -- every emotion that a child of the night possibly can. However, if you will take notice, I am still here." He paused briefly, giving her a chance to digest his words. "You shall live, that is how you shall make up for your defeat. Live and suffer. Suffer and learn. Learn... and destroy the source of your sufferings. But know this: Killing without purpose is meaningless; if you fall upon the path of the ghouls and give up your mind for the sake of shedding blood, I will hunt you down myself. However, if you learn and grow and kill, methodically and with a purpose, those who are ignorant to the ways of the wise and those who cause suffering, you will become great, and you will be cared for. This may have no meaning to you, but perhaps one day you will understand as I have.

"Now, you may stay here until Sir Integra kicks you out; when that will be I cannot tell. However, do not expect to find your new home here, and even if you do, do not expect it to be a free ride. Nothing in life or undeath is free, this is a rule which you should know. However, a journey such as yours is lengthy and you will seek assistance. If you are obedient, there is a possibility Sir Hellsing will be accomodating." The tall vampire paused yet again, taking in a deep breath and exhaling slowly. "I have spoken too much, and shall now take my leave, unless you have questions. If you wish to beseech me to kill you, however, the answer will be no."
