Helen nodded, and glanced at Jo-jo. His hackles were raised, his teeth bared and he growled threateningly. He knew they were coming, and he was ready to fight for his mistress. The professor shook her head, and smiled slightly.

"No, Jo-jo," Helen said softly. "Not this time, pup." She bent over and picked him up, which proved more difficult than she thought. She didn't realize how much he had grown since he was a tiny puppy a few months ago. Now he was a fairly big puppy, and his weight was doubled since Jo-jo had no intentions of being picked up. However, she proved to be more stubborn than the labrador and after a few moments, she was able to wrestle him into the closet. She closed the closet door, and she heard Jo-jo barking, growling, and scratching at the door.

"Hush," she scolded him. "I don't want you to get hurt." The barking and growing stopped for the most part, but he continued to scratch against the door as he begged to get out. Helen walked back to her desk, and picked up her umbrella from where it hung on the arm of her chair. She unsheathed the rapier and stood beside Shadows.

"I'm ready..." I think, she added siliently. Helen felt better, but her body felt like one big bruise. She didn't know if she could take on vampires again just yet. Well, I'll see in if I am in a moment, won't I? she thought as the sound of footsteps grew louder. The professor glanced at Shadows' calibur gun, and tucked her hair behind her ears so her hair wasn't in her face.

Just get them through the heart... that's all you need to do, Helen, she told herself. She prayed silently to God, and swallowed nervously, again. Her throat felt so dry, and she gripped the rapier in her right hand nervously, but at least her spirit was at ease.

The vampires were certainly startled when they first tried to enter the room, the keyword being tried. Shadows had been waiting at the door, his gun at the ready. Since the cult vampires obviously expected Helen to be alone, the first one must have been terribly surprised when he entered the room and found a very large gun between his eyes.

"Beautiful evening, isn't it?" Shadows asked with a grin. The face of the living dead man could not have gone any paler at that moment. The vampires in the hall froze.

"Night night, then." he said, and with great relish, pulled the trigger. As vampire's now headless body flew back into the hall, Shadows began to unload rounds into the ones in the hall. Six more fell to his gun before a slight clicking noise came from it, signifying he was now out of ammuntion. Wasting no time, he dropped the gun and shot out his left arm to one side. A small, silver dirk slid out into his open palm. Closing his fingers around the hilt, he shot out his other arm, and something covered in a black cloth slid into his hand. As the first vampire stepped forward, Shadows snapped his wrist to remove the cloth from the front of the object, and then pressed it into the vampire's face, hard. The unforetunate undead creature screamed as a slight hissing noise came from his face. Shadows swiftly stabbed it's heart with the dirk and ended it's pain. He swiftly blew some ashes off the silver cross, holding it so that the cloth was stopping it from burning off his own skin. Flicking his wrist again, he covered the cross and slid it back into his sleeve. He simply pulled a dagger from his belt and then stomped his right foot on the floor, revealing a jagged blade. Swordplay was his arena, and he had all the edges here. He smiled slightly at his own mental pun, but dismissed it as the next vampires came. He knew he couldn't hold them back forever, and hoped his backup came soon...

OOC:i am so sorry for the bad edges joke :P

Helen's eyes grew wide with shock as she watched Shadows fight the vampires in the hall. She leaned against her desk to support herself. The horror of it all- blood, fire, shrieks of anguish- Helen had never seen anything like it before. Shadows seemed to be enjoying himself, but the professor felt nauseous. She closed her eyes and tried to escape into her thoughts, but the sound of glass shattering demanded her attention.

Helen's head snapped in the direction of the sudden noise, and she backed away a little. There intruders were coming in through the windows. She bit her lip, gripped the rapier tightly, and took her stance.

"Um, Mr. Shadows?" she called out to him matter-of-factly as they advanced on her. "They aren't using the door anymore." The first one lunged at her with his mouth open, his canines glittered in the flouresent light, but all he got to taste was the umbrella portion that served as a sheath before she plunged the rapier into his heart. His scream caused her blood to feel like ice, and her skin crawl, but he fell back. Helen did not have time to give a sigh of relief because there were more coming in through the window. Her umbrella trick worked on a few more, but then they started getting smart.

A rather large vamp one grabbed the umbrella with his hand and tossed it over his shoulder (unfortunately it hit a ghoul in the eye). He backed Helen up to the desk, and her left hand searched frantically behind her to find something, anything to get some distance between them. Her hand found the kettle. She whipped her arm around, and the hot kettle made contact with the vampire's face with an almost satisfying crack. The lid came off as well, and he shrieked as the steaming water splashed into his eyes. Then another, as her rapier found its mark through his heart.

She was breathing heavily with her rapier in one hand and a dented kettle in the other. Do they ever end? she thought as she watched them fill her class room. This isn't good... this isn't good at all...

Shadows heard Helen's call, and nodded slightly as he fought with some of the other vampires. He waved his right hand, launching the cross to her. Also in the movement, a dark portal opened, and the black tiger leapt through.

"Charon!" Shadows yelled, spinning under a clothesline from one vampire and kicking one of it's buddies in the back, where it's heart was. The blade dove in, and the vampire gave a slight gurgle as blood seeped out it's mouth.

"Protect her!" he called out as he vanquished the first vampire with a quick combination of stabs. The tiger understood and leapt toward the vampires attacking Helen, and opened it's cavernous maw wide. Charon latched onto the head of the nearest vampire and shook violently. With a snap of his powerful neck, the tiger opened his mouth and the vampire flew back out the window, knocking it's buddies away, buying a few seconds for Helen. The spectral cat meowed, and even purred once the vampires had been knocked away. Shadows stabbed the last hall vampire and looked toward Helen.

"This is Charon." he said, nodding towards the cat, who purred again. "He will help you as he sees fit." He sighed as he saw vampires coming again.

"I'm sorry you have to go through this..." he said softly as more vampires came in through the hall and the window.

Odakira, having been studying the mental vampiric powers that Mernov had placed upon his student, could see the power that emitted off of Wolfgang and Erika as well. Almost like sonar frequencies with a dark blue hue in the people's soul-trail. His eyes widened, and his head turned to the direction of where Shadow's "call" had came. Scorning himself for have leaving, he used the pressure to fuel his power, letting out a whisper to himself, signifying the call.

"Back up is on the way..."

He quickly turned and looked down at Kyphus's beastly figure, his eyes expressing a serious complexion, as well as his stature, as he yelled down to Kyphus from the atop the rubble, "Kyphus. Shadows needs us, the human girl is under attack by ghouls again!" Before Kyphus could answer, Odakira had already leapt down from the decay of what was Hellsing Manor. Within the midst of his leap, his form flashed white, to reveal his now enlarged raven form once again. As he reached down at Kyphus with his talons, they clasped to the beast's shoulders, lifting the heavy body of the machine in one brandish of his wings. With another brandish of his wide wings, and the two forms were ready for their travel. The Raven gave out a shrill shriek as it soon traversed the sky in a blinding light, a stream of the same light have been made from his velocity.

When he came into sight of the school building, he could see a group of the ghoulish vampires outside, gathering in a dispositioned manner. Within the back of his mind, he knew Kyphus would know what to do. As he reached the correct distance, the bird piveted upward and let loose of Kyphus' large form, causing his figure to slide from Odakira's talons at a great velocity, the beast flew at the ghouls with a strengthful grace, but as to what Kyphus could do, only he would know.

As for Odakira, he flapped his wings once more to come above the school building, only to loft in the air silently as he gazed down into the structure with his now beady optics. He could see the soultrails of Helen and Shadows, who both emitted a great light as they did battle with the ghouls. His sight came to see that the hallway in which Shadows was fighting in was more dense with zombies than what Helen and Charon were taking on. Making the obvious decision, the raven's back arched slightly, then plummeted into the rooftop of the building, almost seeping through the roof and floors of the school without doing harm to the infrastructure whatsoever.

Silently, the bright figure of a Raven slowly sank down from the ceiling into the hallway where Shadows resided, only to float in a small opening in the army of ghouls. The monstrousities turned to gaze at the radiant form, their own dull and empty optics could reflect the luminescence it emitted, but only in fear. After a moment, the raven's wings curled in to cover it's body. A radiance could be seen building up inside the concealment the annex created, then suddenly, it dispersed outward, revealing Odakira floating in the midst of the hallway, his hands tucked into the pockets of his coat as the cloth seemed to flap around his legs delicately, his optics shut as his face displayed a concentrating complexion. His wings flew out to each side, up and down the hallway. As the radiant wings came into contact with the ghouls, it tore them them cleanly and without suffice; leaving their corpses to vanish into piles of dust. Taking out a huge number of the undead that used to reside in the hall; who were now seemingly trying to hurry in their task to get the girl.

Odakira grinned widely, soon to peek open the eye to the side Shadows resided at and take hold of his figure in his sights. Whisking his hand from his pocket, he gestured it fluantly to motion him back into the room where Helen was, for she would need his help. From his other side, a wave of the ghouls came from around the bend in the hallway. The white vampire's figure turned fluantly and his wings brandished in a flurry once again at the wave, slowly "chopping" up their already lifeless bodies to something more lifeless to hold them off.

"Now is not really the time for heart felt apologies, Mr. Shadows," Helen said as she wathced more vampires enter through the widows and the hall. "We can talk once the vampires are gone."

The silver cross that Shadows had thrown to her felt cool in her small hand, but it left the vampires clutching burns and hissing in pain. They getting bahind her, and trying to catch her off gaurd, but thanks to Charon, none of them succeeded. Though the big cat kept the majority of the invaders from reaching Helen, a few managed to slip by every once in a while. She dodged, lunged, and lashed out at the ghouls as they came. It seemed like they would never stop, and Helen was quickly beginning to tire, and her side was bothering her.

The commotion in the hall attracted Helen's attention, and she saw Odakira in the hall before he turned into a raven and flew off down the hall. Well, better late than never, she thought.

Suddenly, she felt an icy breath on the back of her neck, and she whipped around ready to strike. However, the vampire grabbed her wrists roughly causing Helen to wince as his grip tightened on around the bruise the Nazi vampiress had given her. She struggled to break free from his grasp, but his grip only tightened. Helen gasped, and her rapier, and the cross slid out of her hands, and hit the ground with a noisy clang. She continued to try to wrench herself free as the vampire pulled her closer, when she had an idea. She allowed him to jerk her forward,, but she raised her knee into his groin. His grip loosened long enough for her to pull away, and dive for the cross.

As her fingers closed around the cross she felt a hand wrap around her ankle. She twisted around and hit him in the side of the face with the cross. He screeched, and clutched the side of his face with his hands allowing Helen to kick him up the nose. She heard a crack, and blood began to stream down his face. He hissed, and advanced on her once more as she scooted away from him until her back hit the desk. He smirked when he saw she was trapped, but the professor merely looked him in the eye, and whispered, "Farewell." His face twisted in confusion just before Charon pounced on him, and ripped him to shreds.

Helen closed her eyes so she wouldn't have to watch the grizzily scene, but she felt herself get splattered with blood and bits of flesh hit her face. She grimaced in disgust, and opened her eyes a crack to see the tiger had already moved on. She retrieved her rapier, and flicked off a few of the bigger bits of vampire on her face.

OOC: wow, i've missed a lot; sorry! this should technically take place about when odakira leaves, i think a minute or so before

Mernov looked on with interest as the young girl fainted, collapsing into a heap on the ground. He wondered if he'd put too much strength into his illusion, or if it was simply the events therein which had been too much for the girl to handle. Either way, he was pleased with his work and decided that he might decide to be nice and ask Walter to find a temporary room for her -- Shadows would surely insist upon such action, at any rate. She had certainly gone through some rather trying events, if slightly out of proportion, and likely needed rest. Were he encumbered by a soul he might have felt sorrow for the anguish which he had caused her. This, of course, was not the case. In fact, he rather looked forward to having a similar effect on her "friend." It was just after he released her from the illusion so that she might rest peacefully -- so much as her own mind would allow in her dreams, anyway -- that Mernov recieved the urgent request from his friend. Though he had a strong inclination to completely ignore the request, he decided against doing so, and sent a brief, succinct message: Later. You're fine.

Within the mind of the tall Nazi, Erika looked as though she might burst into tears. However, she forced them to remain where they were, not even allowing her eyes to grow misty, inasmuch as she could. These eyes of hers bore holes into Wolfgang accusingly, as though he had just committed some heinous crime against her. Her hand balled into a fist tightly for a moment, before releasing out of frustration. Gathering up her courage, she turned to face her Nazi superior directly, standing as tall as she could. Erika looked at him presently with disbelief as she heard his words, opening her mouth to speak.

"That's...all?" the young girl practically whispered. She didn't know if anyone but herself could hear it, but it didn't seem to matter. When she spoke again, her words were considerably more audible. "I poured my soul out to you! Everything that was itching the back of my mind for years, brought now to the front with the advent of that wretched scumball; I told it to you! Is that all I am for you, something to have or not have? Maybe it's not fair to say this now, but I just can't believe that I used to think you loved me! I just --" Erika turned away again, taking a few deep breaths to steady herself. She raised her head, but continued looking away from Wolfgang.

"I'm sorry... Mein Herr. I... it's just.... I can't. Right now, with all this, and you.... I will find you, if I can find it within me to love you.... But if not, just know that it is better for both of us. I could not live with myself pretending to love you -- it would be too hard for me and too mean to you. Please -- " here she turned back around, two thin lines running down her cheeks marking the few tears she could not stop, " -- let me do this. I need to do this. I need to go."

Now this was new, Kyphus felt like a Demon from Heaven right now, like he had just lost his wings and was now plumetting by dark intent. Then again, he pretty much was. Claws extended, armor shifted, and the apparatus that injected something like steroids into Kyphus' system nearly exploded in a rush of chemical strength.

Kyphus landed in a flash of black and gold (and red if one added the creature he landed upon) and immediatly began to slice at anything nearby with all the ferocity of man's dark technologies. Several creatures were divided at the waist without even realizing what had just happened, others panicked as they were vivisected and there was one who fought back. Of course, out of all the creatures to attack him this one would actually score. It latched onto Kyphus' extended arm, wary of the pulsating blades that extended from his wrists and elbow. Then, in one fluid motion, it tossed Kyphus into the side of the building, rocking the entire foundation...

Wolfgang's head tilted to one side as Erika explained herself. He wasn't one for hearing explanations at times of tense emotions. As to her decision, he remained silent. The silence was a long and eerie, a moment that no one really enjoyed. Though it was soon interrupted by the rustling of leaves on the ground as a gust of wind kicked up. All the tall vampire could do was give a gentle nod to her request, for deep inside him, he cared for her with all his heart.

His foot raised as he then began to take to his stride, his face concealed as he had his back turned to Erika. Smoke emitted from the ground from where bloody tears had came into contact with the earth as his long legs traversed over them. Soon, his figure vanished into the darkness of the the Manor's shadow and out of Erika's view, only to fall to one knee as well as a trance. His eyes came to a close as he let out a small sob, his teeth gritted tightly as he felt a pain more unbearrable than before...[/color:e8b3ef2385]

Walter knelt down by the young nazi female, examining her with a slight look of distaste upon his face. It wasn't due to her appearance by any means, for she appeared quite neat, despite lying unconscious on the ground. More likely was her association, and the fact taht she had invaded Hellsing manor not long ago. He studied her for a few moments before picking her up gingerly. Though he looked old, Walter was quite strong and had no difficulty picking up the young girl, even if it appeared that he did. He shook his head slightly as he passed Mernov, but continued forward through what remained of the main entrance to the mansion.

"Thank you, Walter," the tall vampire said in his deep, rich voice. Though it was true that, technically, they were aiding an enemy, she did believe, after all, that she'd been kicked out and left on her own. If she were to wake up to this truth, the effects of the illusion would take root quite firmly. Though Mernov hoped that the effects on Wolfgang would be as strong, they needn't necessarily be for things to work out well. In fact, it was likely that even if he realized everything was merely an illusion it would not matter. What did was that in real life, as in his "dream," Erika had left him. It was now simply time to tie up a few loose ends.

Erika turned as she saw the tall nazi's response and starting walking towards the gates which led out of the manor grounds. At first it was a slow walk, then a brisk jog. Soon, she came to a full sprint, tears streaming down her cheeks. She said nothing as she left, but nothing needed to be said. Though Wolfgang may or may not have seen them, her tears were more than enough to end the conversation, and the relationship. Her footsteps died away, but seemed to echo within the tall Nazi's mind as he wept. Slowly, the soft steps seemed to become words -- no, not words exactly. It was closer to a pure emotion, one from which words were felt, instead of heard. Whether these were simply hallucinations or in fact the voice of a higher consciousness within the nazi officer was not clear.

She's gone... She may return, but for now... she is gone. You must... rest... sleep. Tomorrow may bring new hope... but now... sleep.... Wolfgang's eyelids started to become heavy, whether or not he thought he was tired. However, being awake didn't seem important at all. In fact, sleep seemed like the best idea in the world, and the thought of new hope quickly became very appealing.

OOC: not godmodding with the talk about what happens in your mind... I am controlling the illusion, ain't I? ;) you "could" somehow disagree with the wave of sleep washing over you, but it's not just a desire to sleep that he's implanting; he's also making your body feel like it's telling you that you're tired... if that makes any sense XD;

OOC:aye, no problem dan. I was wonderin' when the illusion was going to end anyways :P

The words were lulling, and sank heavy in his troubled thoughts. It was strange, the voice seemed to have caved into his mind from no where. Almost sub-conciously, as if it were his own voice telling him to do so. He did try to fight off the weariness, but knew that it was futile, for the emotional events that took place had drained him of any incentive to fight on.

His kneeled figure soon slumped over in a heap, his face grinded against the ground as he finally came to slumber within the illusion. In reality, having still the Moloch in his hand, he used the barrel to brace himself up for a moment, only to fall forward into a sleep.

Within his mind, he couldn't stop dreaming of Erika; Old memories of times they had spent together, only the dreams were different. Everytime he could see her face within the dreams, it was smeared and deformed... Almost as if she were not there anymore...[/color:1dc8f70de9]

Erika stirred, and her eyes slowly began to open, focusing on her surroundings. Realizing that she was no longer outside, she shot up, nervous. I guess I'm in the Hellsing mansion..., she thought to herself. Suddenly, the memories of only a few minutes ago came flooding into the girl's mind, giving her a sudden, painful jolt in her heart. She fell onto her side, clutching her chest as she wept softly. Everything had been a lie, a facade, a fabrication. After a minute or so of crying, Erika sat up, frowning. Gritting her teeth, she ripped off the black jacket and threw it across the room, putting her face into her hands. On top of being completely betrayed and lied to, Erika now faced certain death; there was no way that Hellsing was going to forgive her, or let her live.

In her sorrow, Erika wept, crimson tears pooling into the palms of her delicate, trembling hands.[/color:9e4cfd9060]

Helen winced as pain shot through her right side. When she looked down her eyes widened at the sight of a crimson patch on her white blouse. The wuound must have opened as she was fighting, and it bled through the bandages. She gritted her teeth, and continued to fight on, but the pain was unberable and a few tears rolled down her cheeks. The vampires' eyes shone with blood lust, and Charon and the professor had to work harder to keep them at bay.

Helen jumped as the building shook, and turned around to see what caused it. She saw Kyphus sprawled on her classroom floor, a hole in her wall and smiled because he looked fairly amusing. The vampires hesitated, and stared at Kyphus in surprise. This gave Charon the chance to take out a few ghouls before they started fighting back again. Helen pushed her way over to the strange being and smiled wearily.

"Hello, Kyphus," she said as she pushed some hair behind her ear. "Do you know how many are left?" I can't go on like this, she thought to herself. There's only so much I can do in my present state!

After the hall seemed flooded with the dust that Odakira left of the vampire's bodies, his floating figure turned around to see Helen knelt beside Kyphus' sprawled form. Fluantly, and with little motion, the white vampire floated above the two wounded persona's. With a brandish of his wings, they flew out like silk and began to swipe away whatever vampires had lunged themselves into the direction of their death. The wings blasted their already dead forms lifelessly through the room, only to become quantities of dust that flew throughout the room.

Odakira glanced down and brought out and open hand to the girl to help her up, his wings seeming to take care of the vampires like they had a mind of their own. He spoke out in a reluctant tone, but filled with concern in his questioning, "Are you alright, Helen?"

Helen closed her eyes for a moment so she didn't have to see the vampires turn to dust as Odakira was above her. Too much death... She looked up at him when he spoke, and accepted the hand he offered while she held her rapier and the cross in one hand. As she gained her footing, pain shot through the old wound on her side, and let go of Odakira's hand to clutch the burn. She could feel her warm blood against the palm of her hand, and it caused her to shudder a little.

"I'll be fine," she said wearily. "A bit tired, but nothing rest and time can't cure." Her body felt as though it might collapse because she was so exhausted, but she wasn't going to make a public announcement while stray ghoulscould be lurking about. Body language betrayed her anyway; she trembled and she was breathing as though she had just sprinted ten laps.

I guess I won't be sleeping here tonight, she thought to herself while she looked around her classroom.
