OOC: hey, where would the world be without crap? That's right, constipated and in pain ;) Besides, everyone's made "crap" posts (as for myself, I've made *more* than my fair share, so no worries!)

After he finished playing the Moonlight Sonata, Vincent hardly waited to wonder if the drunken saps left in the bar appreciated the music or not. Yes, decidedly rude, not to mention base, he mused somewhat irritatedly as he began to play another of his favorite piano sonatas: Beethoven's 8th, nicknamed "Pathetique." He liked this choice because it was much livelier than his previous choice, and at the moment things seemed to be slowing down enough in the saloon. Of course, that's what he thought until Aria burst through the doors, spitting out words faster than a gatling gun could spit out bullets. Perhaps I should have stuck with something slower, thought Vincent, a faint grin creeping onto his face.

Vincent didn't respond to George for a short time, mulling over the decision as his fingers flew across the faded keys. At last, he said, "Well I've little better to do at the moment, but you must know this: I make no promises that I'll maintain this membership, and I make no promises that I'll do any and every mission asked. I also can not and will not garuntee that you'll be able to readily contact me. For now, this is... a 'trial run,' I suppose. I'm generally not one to run errands for people. That sure sounds like I've turned you down, huh?" Vincent shrugged, as if to suggest that it was now George's decision.

OOC: see? bleah

OOC:lol-- You two think you're crap posters? Please. Watch and learn. ;)

Violet had been about to reply to Jean Louise's comment about "cultured" men (and her reply would probably be something along the lines of this: "Yeah, right. Cultured men. And while we're living in fairy tales, how about a unicorn instead of that old slob of a horse--" Affectionately, of course; she really didn't despise her horse in the slightest-- "that I ride around on?") when she noticed that Jean Louise was no longer standing beside her. She was, on fact, on the other side of the bar, standing next to the water-drinker, the "cultured" pianist, some other guy she'd probably seen earlier in the evening...

And some blur who seemed to be rambling at breakneck speed.

Actually, Jean Louise seemed to be doing about the same.

Violet ignored the drunkard who was currently making a pathetic attempt at flirting and wove her way through the crowd to get to the worn piano and the group standing around it. "Jean Louise?" she said, making no effort to acknowledge any of the others standing there. "I don't think I caught a word you just said." She turned back toward the group, ignoring the men. "You know this girl?" she asked, giving said girl a half-welcoming, half-I'm-only-doing-this-to-be-polite sort of smile.

OOC:There. Totally craptastic.

Aria, of course, went right over to Jean Louise like a bug to a lit candle. She brightened even more as she recognised the familiar face. "Jean Louise! I missed you too!" she yelled, hugging her. "I'm here 'cause Mythic didn't want George with that alcoholic, Dionysis." She lowered her voice a little. "Yeah, George can't stand people who abuse alcohol. Dunno if it's because he's a doctor or because he's half Injun. Maybe it's both. Anyways, I'm doin' fine. How're you?"

George let the girls talk, and turned to the men. "Aria doesn't like to talk about the bum leg... It happened a few years back--some fireworks prematurely exploded, killing her grandfather and wounding her badly. She's mostly fine now. I'd be lyin' if I said she was all right," he said, directed at Wesley. Dang, this guy is extremely rude, he thought. At least he apologized this time.

West then said to Vincent, "Naw, actually, that sounds reasonable, since we usually put our new people on a trial period, anyways. You need to learn the ropes, test the waters and stuff." And Mythic needs to find out if he cracks under pressure... or has other traits that would make him a bad guy to have around, George thought. "Oh, Mr. Vincent--we'll be able to find you. If not by mail or telegram, Hermes'll get messages to you. He's real good at delivering mail." If he can't find someone, ain't nobody gonna find that person, West mused.

"Oh, Violet!" Jean Louise pulled the barmaid over a bit closer to them. "This is Aria. She's absolutely adorable." She porceeded to hug the girl with the cane. "Aria, this is Violet. She talks a bit slow, but she's really quite charming." She motioned to George. "And this is George West another friend. I'm afraid I can't say I know the other two. But I don't have time for anymore introductions. I have to go backstage. It looks like Atticus needs something." She bounced off. "I'll see y'all later."

OOC:Leaving for camp. See ya friday.

OOC:Have fun!

Violet nodded politely at George West, and smiled again at Aria. "Nice to meet you." She had caught West's bit about the "bum leg," and was careful not to let her eyes linger long on the girl's injury.

Her first impression of the girl was that she was too far on the talkative side. Still, she was a good friend of Jean Louise, so it wouldn't do to be impolite. "I haven't seen you here before-- what brings you to town?" Had she known that Aria was involved with MYTHIC she never would have asked; however, she'd missed the part of the conversation where this had come up.

Vincent raised an eyebrow at the mention of Hermes. So it wasn't just "Apollo" and "Hades." This was starting to sound like a cult, involving a strange sort of worship of ancient Greek gods and goddesses for goodness knows what purpose. Ah, what am I thinking!

"Hermes, huh?" Vincent repeated boredly, still keeping his eyes focused on the instrument in front of him. "Well, since you've agreed to my terms then I suppose I've little other choice than to accept this 'trial.' But remember, like I said, no promises."

OOC: well i clearly have no idea what to post, but it seemed like I should since it'd been a while since I had, and nobody else was posting...

OOC: Thank goodness for Timewarps. Sorry bout' not posting in a while, work is killing me D: I'll just start after the answering of Wes' question

Wes nodded to the answer that he was expecting from Aria herself, but then the blur of another lady literally flew into her, and the gossip began. 'So we've both lost something and gained a scar...' He thought to himself. Then that's when a third lady entered the conversation. Wes didn't think it was just himself, but it was feeling a bit too crowded around the piano it seemed. He was about to walk away, but then Vincent answered West about his offer.

'It probably would be a good idea, considering it might give me a couple leads...'

"Count me in." Wes announced as he turned around to face West. "I could care less about the trials... But for now, I'm going back to my room to get some rest." Then Wes left the area.

As he was walking upstairs, a drunk had managed to pass out in the stairway sitting upright. He was in Wes' way, and Wes wasn't going to wake him up just to make him move... But he would move. When Wes reached the man in his way, he grabbed his shoulder and threw him down the stairs swiftly; leaping over him as he began to roll down the stairway. The man came clammering down with a series of thuds and bumps until he hit the bottom with a groan. The man shook his head, and couldn't tell what just happened, so he simply laid on the floor, and fell back to sleep.

Once Wes had made it to his room, he fell back onto his bed (after locking the door and placing his revolvers under his pillow). 'This Mythic better be entertaining. So far it's been all talk, and even falling short on that.' Wes' eyes closed, and finally he sank into a slumber.

"Very good!" George gave Wes a thumbs-up. "The first mission will be... real soon."

"To help West," Aria said to Violet. She yawned loudly, eyes tearing up. "Aaaaw, it's late, West! I wanna sleep..."

"I'll be up in a minute, Dionysis's room is at the end of the upstairs hallway." George rubbed his eyes, and yawned. "Dang, it must be late."

Aria clambered up the steps, a little difficult with her cane. She pushed Dionysis out of his bed, and frisked his jacket. Nothing. "Ew, ew, ew," she said, reaching into the right back pocket of his jeans, unfortunately touching his behind in the process. Aria removed the paper carefully, surgically, but Dionysis nearly woke up. Luckily, she got the entire sheet out, and he settled back into deep sleep.

Giordino tore open the letter, which had been sealed with MYTHIC's wax seal. She unfolded the paper, and read it. "Hehe, yes, marvelous! This should be fun," she whispered, putting the letter in the bed's pillowcase. She lay down on one side of the bed and drifted off into a light sleep, not knowing when she would be woken up next.

Vincent finished up his playing and stood up. It felt good to have finally played a piano -- he couldn't remember the last time he had. He looked around the bar, as though trying to remember something when it suddenly hit him -- he'd forgotten almost forgotten about Ashe! He hastily made his way to the bartender and asked for access to the stable. After handing the man a few coins and getting the key, Vincent headed outside where Ashe was waiting rather impatiently. In lieu of a greeting, Ashe snorted in indignation at his taking so long.

"Sorry girl, got carried away!" he responded, motioning for her to follow. She complied eagerly, and he showed her into the stable and got her something to eat. He turned to leave, and said as he was walking, "Get a good rest, I've a feeling it'll be a long day tomorrow." After returning to the bar, he went straight and found his room. It really was quite tiny, but there was a reasonably clean bed (perhaps because it was so small) and that was the most important part. The young man took off his belts and set them by the head of his bed and dropped his large, well-worn jacket on top of them. He then removed his vest and shirt, laying them neatly in the opposite corner (there was no table or chair to speak of, much less something with proper drawers) and collapsed into bed.

OOC: Man, my brain feels like it's turned in the "off" mode, as far as writing goes.... Oh well, nobody else was posting, so I figured I might as well try and move this along to the next day

West saw Vincent go out to his horse and immediately remembered that Jesus was still outside. He excused himself, untied Jesus and Aria's horse (a night-black mare), and led them to the stable. He tied them up in one large stall together, as they enjoyed each other's company.

He then went upstairs to Dionysis's room, laying out on the other bed after making himself comfortable. His feet hung over the edge, as the bed was too small for him--but he was used to that. He fell asleep in about thirty minutes.

OOC:XD I love the donkey's name.

Violet was up for a while after the others left to sleep, but eventually she, too, reached her limit. "Atticus, I'm done for the night."

"Well, it <i>is</i> getting late," said the bartender, looking at the yawning performers and the thinning throngs of men who were becoming less occupied with staring and more occupied with trying to keep their eyes open. "Things are slowing down anyway."

Violet yawned and made her way up the stairs to the room at the end of the hall, the one she had on a permanent sort of loan from Atticus. It had become rather personalized over the length of time she'd been here-- there was nothing of value, really, but in one corner sat a small chest of drawers, enough to keep a few changes of clothes in.

The bed was small but comfortable, and it wasn't as though Violet wanted anything bigger. She glanced at the drawers, and thought, I should probably get changed. That thought having passed fully through her head, she proceeded to ignore it and drop onto the bed. She was asleep almost immediately.

OOC:Since Mo's in NYC, do we wanna wait for her or go ahead and move on to the next day? It's up to whoever wants to post first.

OOC: I'll go ahead and press on the story. Mo can use a timewarp if needed ^_^ I'm sure she wouldn't mind

The night seemed to have flown by Wes as he slept. As the black and crimson attired man stood from his bed, he could feel the heat from the soon-rising sun. It wasn't as hot as it gets during the day yet, but it would be in a good two hours. After placing his three revolvers and belt around his waist once more, Wes leaned against the side of the window of his room, and peered outside. It was daytime, but the sun had not cleared the horizon just yet. Turning from the window, Wes made his way out the door of his room, and downstairs into the bar. Wes placed his key and two small gold nuggets on the bartop. The tavern was empty, not even Atticus was at the counter, it was too early for everyone to be awake.

'Hmm... I'm sure the bartender wouldn't mind.' Wes thought to himself as he hopped the bartop, and grabbed a bottle of whiskey. Hopping it once more, he made his way over to the piano that Vincent was playing last night. Unbottling the cap, and taking a swig, he set his whiskey bottle down on the instrument, and took a seat. Wesley didn't really know how to play piano, but he did watch a few folks at his father's tavern play some nice ragtime songs. He couldn't play any of the left-hand parts, Wes wasn't that talented, but he was able to bring up the melody of 'Maple Leaf Rag' with his right hand. It wasn't that famous, but he remembered a fellow by the name of Joplin who stopped by one day at the tavern, and taught Wes a little of it. He didn't hit all the notes right, and soon gave up.

"Well, at least I have a little bit of it in me still..." Wes mumbled to himself, and stood from the seat. Bottle in hand, he walked outside to the deck of the tavern and leaned against a wooden post. The town was as deserted as it was last night. No one in was sight and nothing but the morning breeze blew through the barren town. "I might as well wait for the others to wake up... I want to get down to the bottom of all this 'Mythic' business." Wes said to himself as he took in some more whiskey, gargled it in his mouth, and spit it out onto the dusty ground before him.

"You planning on paying for that?"

Violet was a light sleeper, and had been pulled from her slumber by the sound of piano music. She'd thought for a moment that perhaps that Vincent fellow had decided to play again, but it didn't take long for her to realize that this pianist had nowhere near Vincent's talent. <i>Better than Jacob, though,</i> she'd though absently, pulling herself out of bed and down the stairs to see who it was.

Now the man was standing outside with a bottle of whiskey, which Violet assumed he'd filched from the bar. "Well?" she pressed, arms crossed.

Wes looked back at the woman who questioned him with a stern stare. "It's usually a pinch of gold per drink in the taverns." He responded with a shrug, then unwrapped one finger from his bottle to point back inside the building, "I left two solid gold pieces in there. Top quality. More than enough to pay for a room and drink..." Wes paused for a moment as his gaze traveled down the woman and back up. Giving his sly grin, he continued, "...And even maybe a harlot, wouldn't you agree?"

Wes raised his eyebrows, then turned back around to look at the town houses and building; taking another swig off the whiskey bottle. It was about 1/3 finished already. After a moment, he asked, "Was there anyone else awake yet?"

OOC: Uh oh, better run if Wes is lookin' atcha like that D:

OOC: Lol... let's see how it goes, shall we? Violet despises guys like that. XD This could get interesting.

Giving Wes a look that was half amusement and half disgust, Violet returned to the counter, where she did indeed find two valuable pieces of gold. She put them away and returned to the spot where the man was standing. "Enough to cover the room and the drink," she agreed. There was a short pause, then she continued with her arms crossed firmly across her chest. "As for the other bit--" here her voice turned icy-- "<i>fifty</i> golden rocks wouldn't even come <i>close</i> to being enough, given the company."

<i>Typical male,</i> she thought in annoyance, as she turned back toward the bar. She would have just left, had he not spoken again.

"Awake? Nobody else was crazy enough to get up this early, apparently."
