if you just look at my last post you can see his name =__=;; Everyone turned to face Arkus and his crony, eyes wide and hands up. Mythic raised an eyebrow. "Shit. You got us, what can I say." He shrugged, and tossed the sketchbook to Arkus' feet. "You can have it." "What are you doing?" Aria said with an acidic tone. "We risked our lives for that stupid thing, and you give it up just like that?" "I'm not my father, Aria." "Well maybe it's about time you started trying to be!" Aria shouted angrily. "You're supposed to be a leader, so lead, asshole!" The others were strangely silent. [size=9:66f7360d16]"Dayum,"[/size:66f7360d16] Melia muttered. James sighed. I hate to admit it, but Aria's right, he thought. What would dad do? ...The answer, of course, is that he would find a way to get everyone out. But how? And... where's Drooler? WAIT! That's it--if I could just call Drooler, he could help us, or even get help for us, if it came to that. Dammit, I think the whistle's in my saddlebag. Goddamnit. Okay... so, uh, that's out for now. So what do I do? ...Wait, I guess. Dammit. Goddamnit. He gave the Shadowhand the evil eye, but did nothing else... for now. He was waiting to see what else would go down. OOC:yay Aria/James angst xD
yay James'-stream-of-consciousness xDD |

Vincent glanced down the barrel of the man's gun, noting the seriousness in his eyes. This was not a person who would bluff. Apparently Mythic had already figured that out, however, and had handed over the sketchbook. The young man slapped himself in the face, irritated that they had given up that prize so easily. Still, there seemed to be little left to do.
As she was closest, Vincent placed his hand lightly on Violet's arm. "Let's get out of here before the man changes his mind," he suggested quietly, and with urgency in his voice. He looked over to (whoever was closest to Jean Louise) and motioned for them to do the same. He didn't know what was in that book, but figured the lives of the two young ladies were easily worth more than whatever it was. OOC: bla... just trying to keep it movin' |

Violet looked anxiously at the guns, which hadn't yet been lowered, and then over at Jean Louise. She began to inch her way away from Arkus, being sure to walk in front of Vincent, so his body was between her and the guns. She was also careful to stay close to him, so the bullet couldn't miss him and hit her. (She liked Vincent and all, but she wasn't keen on dying and had spent the last several years of her life putting herself first. It was second nature.)
(And I am totally out of crap to write. So Violet just continued inching her way away. ><) |

She looked up and blinked, surprised to see George West looking at her sternly as though he was about to scold a child. The singer would have grinned sheepishly if she was not suddenly staring down the barrel of a gun held by a very attractive, but nonetheless spiteful, man.
He wouldn't dare shoot me, she thought, glaring at Arkus, clenching and unclenching er fists. I'm much too pretty to die. She was absolutely livid as Mythic surrendered the stupid doodle book, and her flushed cheeks clashed horribly with her hair. "What's so special about that ratty old thing anyway?" Jean Louise spat. "I mean, reallly, all this fuss for a silly little book with things that look like they were drawn by a four-year-old?! And if it's worth all the trouble to steal from a train, why on earth would you give it up so easily? This is ridiculous! I'm going back to the saloon! George, let go, or I'll be late for call." She struggled to get out of the doctor's grip. |

Well this was a waste, he mused, frustrated at how poorly the situation turned out. Even with the help of that magical plot device, they'd accomplished little more than wasting bullets and aging a few years just standing about.
"I guess unless that not-so mythical Mythic guy has a brilliant plan," he whispered to the lady, "we might as well get the heck out of here. What do you say, Miss Violet?" OOC: *cough* |

"I think," she said, eyeing Shadowhand and Arkus carefully, "that's a very good idea." She reached down absently to pat the horse, hoping against hope that Vincent wouldn't choose to be noble and wait for everyone else. She didn't want to die here over a stupid sketchbook. "And remind me never to listen to Jean Louise again," she muttered, almost inaudibly, neither knowing nor particularly caring whether he could hear her. "Just a picnic, she says. It'll be fun, she says. Dammit..." But she didn't want to sit here and watch her friend get shot, either. After a long moment, she sighed and cursed inwardly at her posession of a conscience. She tapped Vincent on the shoulder, and whispered into his ear, "We can't go without Jean Louise. Anyone else, fine, I don't care, but we can't just leave her here. She can't protect herself. She'll get shot, or, or..." Violet trailed off, knowing he'd get the idea. OOC:Aaaand... it's up to you to do something about it. ;) Because I'm mean like that. |

'What?' She mouthed at him, shrugging. Mythic winked until he felt like his eyelid was going to rip. 'Oh...' Melia rummaged through Mythic's saddlebag, coming to a whistle. She blew it long and hard, and loaded his guns. A smile spread across Mythic's face. "Go, George. Take my horse, and Dani, and run. Don't stop." Melia tossed him the pistols, and loaded her own. He caught them, saying to Aria, "You know what to do." "R-right," She said, a bit taken aback. He's going to do it. He's really gonna do it. George ran for the horses, not letting go of Jean Louise. He scooped up Dani, and jumped on Mythic's horse, putting the two in front of him. "I thought he knew better'n that..." George said, shaking his head. "But I guess, like father, like son." He sighed. "Hop'fully for Aria and Melia, though, he's more like 'is father than we think. Because while both of them're bettin' men, his father's bets've always seemed to turn out better'n his." OOC:If you didn't catch it already: FREAKIN RUN!! |

Vincent looked at Violet as though he had just tasted the mud from Ashe's horseshoe. He hesitated for a moment, wanting to argue but knowing it was pointless. He took a deep breath, turned towards the girl and... stopped. To his surprise, George was racing towards him and the horses carrying Jean Louise and the child with him. "Well it looks like Jean Louise is being taken care of," Vincent said, urging Ashe into motion. He directed her to cover George's back while he got on his own horse. "Hopefully your ready to go now?" |

George had Jean Louise under control; that much was obvious. "Vincent," she said, her voice wavering with barely-contained panic, "let's get out of here!"
OOC:AAAAH FREAKIN' RUN

Vincent was not in a position to disagree with the lady's suggestion. From what he could tell, George was very capable so Jean Louise was in good hands. At any rate, he was at his horse and would be able to escape quickly on his own. Though he hated to leave Melia and the others behind, they didn't look like they had any desire to leave, so Vincent's first priority was obviously the one who did. "Yes, let's!" he exclaimed, holding tight to Ashe's mane and squeezing his legs to her side. "Like the wind, Ashe!" |

Mythic: BOOM, HEADSHOT!! Arkus: ... *dies* Henchmen: O SNAP *run away* But since I'm a nice person, I'll continue this one-sided battle ;) "Heck yea I'm ready t'go," George said. "Now, as long as we're not followed this sh'd be easy." He booted the horse in the ribs, and held on tight to his passengers. -- The cavalry arrived, or more specifically, Drooler and a Hawk-model Eraser he'd met along the way. "Melia, cover me. Drooler and XK-88, knock'em dead. Aria... blow some shit up." "Aye aye, sir," Melia said, loading the machine gun that Havoc had assembled earlier, and dragging it behind a rock. She didn't want to resemble a Swiss cheese, after all. She pressed the trigger, and... nothing. "Jesus, what a time to jam!" She exclaimed frantically, jiggling the gun up and down. Mythic wasn't having the same issues. He also ducked for cover, but unlike Melia, successfully squeezed a few rounds off at Arkus and his lackeys. Aria ran for her saddlebags, pulling them down to the ground, where she could look in them in safety. "What to use..." She muttered. |

I guess I'll move us ahead to where we've paused to rest. I guess this'll take place roughly 45 minutes to an hour or whatever after the part where Arkus is... whenever you guys finish you can time skip ahead pretend like you arrived at that point, and it should work out sorta.
Vincent and Violet had been riding top speed for roughly forty-five minutes to an hour or whatever when they were clearly out of danger and about where the original picnic had taken place. He knew Ashe was tired, and decided that there wouldn't be a better place to stop and rest for a while anywhere nearby. So, they stopped to rest for a while. "Well..." he said, dismounting and offering Violet his hand to help her off the horse. "That was... interesting." He paused, at a loss for words. "So... how's life?" OOC: XP |

"Not bad," she said, turning to pat Ashe on the neck-- normally she would have cringed at the sweat on the animal's skin, but she was tired and dusty herself, and she figured it didn't make much difference at the moment. Besides, the horse had done a lot for them. She deserved a break and a little recognition.
"Not too bad," she said again, a little testily, "considering that I just got kidnapped and threatened-- and I didn't even get to enjoy my picnic." She wasn't angry at Vincent. Far from it, in fact; she was grateful that he had gone to the trouble to save her life. But it had been a rather long day, and she was too tired to stop the sarcasm from leaking into her voice. "I'd say my day was an absolute dream." Dripping with it now. "How about you?" |

"I got shot at, shot some people, nearly got killed saving a young lady's life... you know, that normal, every-day type stuff." He smiled, stretching and looking about as Ashe trotted over to the river.
"But enough about our relaxed days. Can't offer a picnic, but maybe we can scrounge together a fire?" OOC: bleah, ran out of time |

She folded her arms over her chest, resolved to be annoyed with him-- but today, it seemed, was not the day for resolutions. When she caught the last part of his statement, she couldn't help but feel a little guilty. You're not supposed to guilt me into thanking you, she thought, a little unkindly, but said nothing for a long minute.
It was beginning to get dark. We must've been in that cell longer than I thought. She glanced over at Vincent, and was guiltily surprised to note that he looked just as worn-out as she felt. Without a word, she made her way to the edge of the clearing to begin gathering wood for a fire. She was sure to stay away from the river, knowing that the wood there would be too damp. Violet was not one to swallow her pride and thank anyone-- at least, not out loud. But she gathered the wood quickly and without complaint; he may not notice it, but Violet was apologizing for her sharp temper the best way she knew how. "D'you... d'you think we're gonna be here all night?" she asked, a little hesitantly. "I mean, I guess Jean Louise and George'll probably be here soon, huh?" She glanced up at the sky. "We may not be able to get back to town before nightfall." |
