"I'm sure they're fine." Violet glared suspiciously at the donkey-- not an angry glare, just a sort of not-quite-directed confusion masquerading as a glare. She slid off the horse (Why can't getting up be as easy as getting down?) and took a seat next to Jean Louise. "How long d'you figure they'll take?"

"I don't know," Jean louise said, pulling out some ham and cheese. "But they'll be here soon I'm sure." She took off the sombrero and placed it next to her. "Let's just eat and enjoy the sunshine. There isn't a soul around we need to worry about." She pulled out the loaf of bread and a knife. "We need to do this more often. Maybe after lunch we can wade in the river! Wouldn't that be so fun?"

Violet thought about that for a minute. Wade in the river? Their clothes would be sopping wet by the time they were done. And while the sun was rather nice-- it was difficult for her to make this admission, even to herself. She'd just been outdone by a donkey and was in no mood to be pleased with the world-- the cool breeze was likely to be freezing when one's clothes were sopping wet.

Still, the bit about "there isn't a soul around we need to worry about" was nice. It was a change from the usual make-the-drunks-drunker-and-then-throw-them-out-of-the-bar routine.

So maybe Jean Louise had been right. Maybe Violet really had needed a break. "Yeah," she said, a genuine smile lighting up her face. Today was going to be fun. "Yeah, let's." She tossed Jesus another carrot and pulled an apple out of the basket, offering it to Ashe. "Maybe if we're lucky they'll take a while to get back and we can just stay here for a few hours." She flopped backwards, placing her hands behind her head in a decidedly un-Violet-like pose of relaxation.

"That would be lovely," Jean Louise agreed cheerfully. "Here, this one's yours," she said as she handed Violet a sandwhich, and then set work to making her own.

"Damn straight we got to go! We've got what we need, so we must be off!" Wes said with impatience. They were on the train longer than needed, and with a herd of Feds about to trample them, things weren't going to be pretty. "Aria, don't worry 'bout Geroge's leg. Besides, you got one to worry about yourself. I say we move to the back of the train, it'd be alot less painful of a jump to make than jumping out the side of one of these carts."

Wes tightened the straps of the hackney bag around his shoulders and made his way towards the back of the train. If the others didn't want to follow, fine. They could get off the train their way, for Wes was determined to do it his way. Pulling the hammers of each revolver back, he kept his weapons constantly aiming in front of him; waiting for a little opposition to come his way.

At distance away from the two picnickers, a several people had been taking interest. Two of the people were having what might have seemed like odd conversation to the outsider.

"Boss was right, it looks like people actually came."

"Yeah, but how would he know something like that?"

"Who knows? Maybe he can see the future?"

"Oh PLEASE."

"Well you think of something then!"

"Whatever. Just go and wake him."

The soldier nodded, and then ran down to the base of one of the few trees in the whole area. In fact, it may have been the only tree. It was not very big or healthy, but it cast a small amount of shade on the man who seemed to be sleeping beneath it. His fedora currently covered his face, and his chest rose and fell with his breathing. The soldier approached him and called out.

"Boss!" he said, wary of the mans reaction to being awoken. The man didn't seem to move at all, but in a second the soldier was rewarded with a response.

"Did someone come?" he asked, as though he had never been asleep.

"Yes sir, two women and a donkey." The man at the base of the tree tipped his hat up a little revealing a wide smile on his face.

"Good," he said, standing up and brushing himself off. "Prepare to attack, send the signal to the group closest to the river. I do not want them harmed, understood?"

"Yes, Boss." the soldier replied, running back to the other soldier and relaying the message. The soldier promptly produced a set of pipes and played a small note arrangement, though the sound was like that of a bird. Down near the river, as silent as death, nine bandits prepared to subdue their prey...

Violet thanked Jean Louise for the sandwich and set about eating it, all thoughts of day-to-day life gone from her mind. They didn't have to be back at the saloon until evening, and the chances that anything would go wrong with Aria and the men were slim. And the chances that anything could go wrong over here? Ha, what could possibly go wrong over here?? The grass was green, the sky was blue, and she had a sandwich in her hands.

The call of a bird caught her ears, and she couldn't help smiling. Birds were something rarely heard in the town, with all the drinks clinking against each other and the drunks clunking onto the floor.

Violet offered Ashe an apple and patted her on the nose when she bent down to accept it. A tiny feeling of unease had begun to creep into her mind, but she dismissed it as nothing more than her own silly misgivings. They were, after all, completely alone out here.

Jean Louise settled down with her own sandwhich and amused herself by tossing carrots and apples to aria's horse and George's donkey. She soon abbandonned her shoes and ventured toward the river and held her skirts up to her knees with one hand as she waded into the water.

"Violet, the water is so refreshing!" she called over cheerfully. "You have to try this!"

It happened so fast, it was unlikely anyone knew exactly what happened. Four bandits popped out of the sand right near Violet, seizing her as the other five leapt from the side of the river and grabbed Jean Louise. In a few moments, they had both women blindfolded, gagged, and tied as so they wouldn't be able to struggle to much. The main group of bandits came down the hill with their horses, including horses for the nine attackers. Placing their captives across the horse's backs and riding away, leaving the horse and the donkey behind.

Jean Louise shrieked through the gag and struggled as much as the ropes allowed until she felt them ride away, and then she went limp in surrender. There was no point in putting up a fight now. She hoped Violet was ok. Her heart was beating quickly and she swallowed and waited for the ride to end.

I hope George's hat isn't damaged...

Aria followed Wes, and so did George. "Come on, it's time to get off," he said as they made their way to the back car.
They got there in no time--luckily for them, all of the agents must have been in the front of the car, guarding the engine.

Aria swung out onto the edge, crouched down, and hopped off, hitting the ground with body relaxed. She fell backwards on her butt and rolled to a stop... at Drooler's feet. "Hey, boy~" She said enthusiastically, looking up from her position on the ground. "Who's my good puppywuppy? You are! You are!" Aria reached up and hugged the cyborg wolf's thick neck, disregarding the drool seeping from his sagging lip all down her shoulder and arm.

In the distance, she heard George say, "Hit the ground rolling, and with your limbs slack." She then heard a thump--maybe more, it was hard to tell because of the train--and assumed that the others had gotten off safely.

"Not even gonna say hi, huh?" Stahlflugel said with a smirk. She and Mythic had dismounted, but Dani was still asleep on Chocolate, napping under her blanket.

Aria quickly picked herself up and dusted herself off. "Melia! Nice to see you!!" She squealed, running to hug her. Melia, however, saw the drool on Aria and pushed her away.

"Love you too, Aria, but you've got Drooler gunk all over you." She grimaced and pointed at the amorphous, gooey, booger-and-fur-laden goo smeared on Aria.

Aria shrugged, and went to the river to wash it off.

George trotted to the group down the tracks. "Melia!" He said, hugging her. He peeked around Chocolate. "Mythic??" He exclaimed incredulously. "Well, nice to see you too." He shook Mythic's hand. "But, it does make me wonder why..." he stopped midsentence, as he followed Mythic's pointing finger... to his sleeping daughter. The blanket had slipped off of her.

George's eyes softened, and he looked... defeated. Melia wanted to cry. She'd never seen George so... crushed.

"I knew she had consumption, but..." He had no words to say. None at all. It felt like someone had scooped out his insides with a rusty spoon, leaving him empty and in pain.

Aria came back, to find George, the tough one, the one who always supported her, crying. "George?" She said quietly. Then, like George, when she saw Dani, it all clicked into place.

"That's... no, it can't! That's horrible..." She hugged him tightly.

"I feel like I've lost half my soul," he sobbed into her shoulder. Inside, he thought, I'm glad Dani's not awake to see this, it would probably be too much for her...

Melia went over and hugged them both. "It'll be okay. You've still got Dani, and us, George."

"I know," he said, wiping his eyes. He managed a smile. "And I'm thankful for that. I... we... will be okay someday, I'm sure'a that. I'm also glad that poor Sarah went to heaven, where she'ill never hafta suffer like she had to in this life. I'm just selfish, I guess, to want her back..."

"Y-you're the least selfish person I know, George, don't be hard on yourself," Aria sniffled.

"S-s-sorry." He smiled and laughed shakily, continuing to cry.

Drooler and Mythic, however, were inspecting the area nearby. Not 100 feet from where they stood were three animals: Jesus, Aria's horse Obsidian, and one horse Mythic had never seen. When he tried to shoo the strange horse away, Jesus bit him in the shoulder. Hard.
"Son of a bitch!" Mythic exclaimed, clutching his shoulder. "Okay, okay, it's your friend, I gotcha. Just don't do that ever again, you hear?"

Jesus cocked his head to one side, and twitched his ears.

Mythic picked up George's hat, which had fallen to the dirt, and noticed that it had a footprint on it. "Hm, what's this?"

OOC:OMIGOSH you posted, Boots!!

Violet's only clear thought-- and it wasn't very-- was that she was perfectly capable of riding a horse on her own and resented being treated like a sack of potatoes. She took a moment to wonder vaguely whether it was harder to throw such a sack over the back of a horse when said sack was thrashing and screaming.

Well, no matter. She was tied up well enough that she couldn't do either very effectively. Struggling would do nothing but make the rope bite more harshly into her wrists, if that was possible, and she wasn't terribly keen on pain.

Since panicking would do her no good, she settled for the next best thing: rational thought. She hadn't been able to see how many men there were, and in her current position fighting was not exactly an option. She couldn't imagine what they could possibly want with her, aside from the obvious... but then, maybe that was enough.

Violet would have frowned, had the gag not been in her way. Damned men.

OOC: Okay, so what happened to Ashe? Or, what happened to Aria's horse? Weren't there *two* horses and a donkey? O_o;

Vincent noticed the people down the tracks and was about to draw his gun when he noticed Aria's greeting. Apparently, they were friends. The young man sighed, scratching his head as some vague curiosity crept into his mind. His musings were cut short, however, by George's instructions on how to jump from a moving train. Vincent only half heard them, but then again he didn't have any particular lack of experience in this field. With practiced swiftness, he leapt up onto the rail and hopped off, falling sideways and curling into a ball. His right shoulder hit the ground and he rolled on his back, keeping his right foot out to help himself roll straight into a crouched position. He stood up gingerly, brushing himself off and watching the scene before him.

It wasn't hard to figure out by the conversation that someone close to George -- perhaps his mother? Or, more likely, with that little girl on the horse, his wife? -- had died. Vincent walked slowly over to the crying man, patting him on the shoulder and offering him his condolences. He was certain that it wouldn't mean much, but Vincent wasn't the type to sit around and not say anything in such a situation. For the time being, however, Vincent's attentions were drawn to the hat that George had entrusted to Jean Louise. More importantly, however, was the fact that there was no Jean Louise taking care of it!
