@Dan: Are these all menos grande like Ichigo so famously defeated single-handedly, or...? Nanase was rather miffed that the other captain had so directly ignored her. It wasn't entirely unexpected, of course. He was probably already in "serious" mode, and supposed that to be a sign that she should be too. As they neared the hollows, she unsheathed her Zanpakutou, but hesitated to release it after seeing what she was up against. These types of hollows were generally too stupid to be controlled by illusion, and she knew from experience that attempting to do so would only drain her strength rapidly. "Looks like you'll be fighting the old-fashioned way," Jidat supplied with a grin, speaking her thoughts precisely. "Har har. You're just jealous because you always fight the old-fashioned way." "Hardly! The -- just stick to the issue at hand, will you?" It was then that a jet of bright blue light shot past. Jidat only recognized it as a Quincy arrow due to his friendship with Nezei. He looked towards the source, expecting to see his friend, and was shocked to find someone else. "Nanase, go ahead with the hollows." He then turned back to Nezei. He didn't say anything, but the questioning look in his eyes had an obvious meaning: "What should we do about this, and shall I help you?" |

She paused in the middle of her tale of beer-defending and ass-kicking, frowning in the general direction that she'd last felt the overabundance of energy... she was no more skilled at tracking than she was at hiding. "Think we're lost," she said offhandedly. "Shoulda' thought twice before comin' on some sort of adventure with me, huh? Ain't too bright sometimes, joli."
Luckily for her, the hollows were not so adept at hiding their presence, and she felt their energy a few moments later. Well, they were in the same general direction, she figured, and if the Captains hadn't been headed there before, surely they would be now. That, and she really wanted to kick some Hollow ass. They were right there, and she was already getting bored with this whole thing. (She couldn't help but hope that the Captains had not been going toward this particular disturbance, as that would mean more for her to kill. Unlikely, but possible.) When they got near enough to see what was going on, however, Evangeline felt a vague flood of disappointment wash over her. The Captains had indeed been headed here, it seemed, and were already practically in the midst of battle. "Damn," she muttered. She ran a hand through her hair, obviously frustrated. "Damn." To those who were not part of Zaraki's fearsome bunch, the sight of an Eleventh Division member standing on the sidelines of a battle might have come as a shock. But really, it wasn't an uncommon thing-- even among the "thugs" of the Eleventh, there was a sort of honor code. There were rules. Like you don't steal another guy's beer. And if you got a problem with someone, you punch 'em good and honorable-like, to their face, with none of that chicken back-stabbin' shit. And-- this one was important, and the reason she hadn't jumped into the fight-- you didn't interfere with somebody else's battle. Ever. Just wasn't right to rob a guy of his chance at roughin' something up, no matter how much you wanted to get in on the action. Either you find other shit to kill, or you stand on the side and watch. And if he dies or gets knocked out or some other pansy stuff like that, you kill the shit he was fighting and make fun of him for it later. But the Captains weren't dead or unconscious, so Evangeline figured she'd just have to wait and see whether there were enough beasties to go around. "Oi. Moira." She glanced around to see whether her friend had kept up. "Told you I knew where I was goin'. Have a little faith in me, huh?" There was no hint of her disappointment in her voice. And she kept one hand on Fleur Diablotin's hilt. Just in case. |

She shrugged. "Nothing you can do about that, though." They didn't look like they needed help at the moment, but Moira tightened her grip on her cane just in case. She knew from experience that things could go horribly wrong in an instant, so she locked her eyes on the scene below, and waited. OOC:I don't even know... O_o;; |

"Narasumi, stick with Nanase and the Hollows. Leave the Menos to me and Jidat." Turning back to the other captain, Nezei returned Jidat's glance. "And you leave the Quincy to me. Keep the Gillian off of my back." It wasn't that he considered the Quincy an enemy, but Quincy were known to be hostile to Shinigami, and he didn't expect this one to be any different... Telling me to fight the Gillian doesn't really make sense in context. Just want to make sure. I'll bs around until I get a response, I guess...
Though inclined to disobey Nezei and help him anyway, Jidat simply nodded his response and leaped off to fight the hollows, starting with the smaller ones. Jidat hated to leave his friend by himself with such a potentially dangerous person, but knew that the Quincy were a sensitive topic with Shinigami -- especially Nezei -- and that his friend was rarely wrong in his tactical decisions. The captain joined his lieutenant in the hollow-slaying, quickly dispatching any small ones with grace, only unsheathing his zanpakutou the moment before he intended to strike. He wouldn't have used it at all, were it not required to properly send them on to the afterlife. "You'd better hurry if you want to catch up," Nanase shouted at him, pulling her sword from the neck of a hollow as the monster disappeared. "I've already got eighteen!" Jidat smiled at her challenge. Often he mused that she would have made a better eleventh-squad member, were her zanpakutou not so subtle in its abilities. "Oh, it's alright," Jidat replied, tilting his head in the direction of the two shinigami standing nearby. They hadn't yet attacked, so he assumed that they weren't as dangerous as he previously thought -- Nanase, it seemed, was justified in her naive hopefulness. "I was trying to save some for our friends." He then turned to those friends, and shouted, "Oi! You gonna help us, kill us, or just stand about like you've nothing better to do? You're welcome to try any of 'em, but you'll have a hard time killing us, and you'll definitely regret it if you just stand about...." |

Upon seeing their numbers, Evangeline stood in a sort of elated buzz, her grin losing some of its good-natured calm and taking on some indefinable madness. Her grip tightened on the hilt of her zanpakutou as she prepared to spring--
--and stopped. Zaraki had urged subtlety. Subtlety wasn't her strong point. Was massive slaughter considered drawing too much attention to herself? She wasn't sure. Probably not, she thought, head cocked to one side. After all, there was nobody here but the Captains she was watching out for. She damned well wasn't gonna waste all her effort hiding from them, because that was retarded. And although Zaraki's orders hadn't actually been to kill stuff, she figured that was mostly implied in all of his orders anyway. Which was good enough for her. The midget Captain's shouted challenge only fueled her bloodlust; there was never a self-respecting Eleventh Division member who could resist such a blatant challenge. Drawing her zanpakutou, she jumped headfirst into the battle with her grin back in place. She managed to carve her way through several of the monsters, making her way toward Jidat and his little vice-captain, damned if she could remember the girl's name. "Fuck you, lady," she shouted, over the noise and the Hollows' roars, fully aware that she was speaking to a male Captain. He sounded like a girl. Looked like a girl, too, even more than Yumichika did. The thought made her grin wider, despite the huge, sharp-clawed Hollow hand quickly descending toward her. "If y'needed help, all you had to do was ask." She paused to slice the offending hand off. " 's okay. Won't call you a wussy half-ass or nothin'." There was another pause. "Not much, anyway," she amended. |

It disappeared to who-knows-where, and she pointed with her thumb to Evangeline, saying, "I'd have to agree with her on this one." |

And Gillian are Menos, dude. They are the class of monstrous but stupid (and still powerful) Menos, the weakest of the three. So...yes, the Menos. Nezei barely took notice of the interlopers, his sole focus on the odd man out - the Quincy. With all the Menos still about, engaging in battle with the boy would be foolish. However, Nezei knew Quincy to a fault, and the majority of them hated Shinigami. The reason were usually different, but all the same, Nezei knew this kid would not appreciate his backup. Ryouji fired off arrow after arrow, obliterating several Hollows and driving back another Menos. So many, he thought, and where were they all coming from? What was attracting them to here? He believed he found his answer when he noticed several shinigami appear around him and engage the Hollows. "Cowards..." he muttered under his breath. Through his jaded view, Ryouji believed that the Shinigami came only after they decided that he couldn't finish the job by himself. His surprise was complete when one of the shinigami, a white-cloaked shinigami, no less, appeared right next to him. "Keep your focus, Quincy," Nezei said harshly, his sword already tearing through the numerous Hollows surround Ryouji. "Mind your own business, Shinigami," Ryouji shot back. "This is my business, child. Now keep your mind on what is at hand." "We'll be having a nice conversation when this is over, cowardly dog." "I will only advise you once of the absurdity of your wish. We can deal with that later anyhow." Nezei then leapt into the air and proceeded to slice the nearest Menos Grande in two. Ryouji glared at him, and then returned to his current task of slaying these demons for good. |

"Oorrraaaaa" A shower of black matter flew as Nara slashed away at a nearby menos. "You guys just don't die do you! Raaaaaaaah" He jumped up the menos body till he reached the great white mask of the hollow. "Now to finish you off!!" And just as he was about to strike the hollow turned its massive head to the side catching Nara with it's nose. "Motherof...guh." Nara held tight to the hollows nose as it shook it's head like a mad dog on fire. "You've got to be kidding, he's playing around at a time like this? what a loser" Eva sighed, only a short distance off. In the midst of the shaking, Narasumi did in fact see two shinigami he hadn't before. "What is 11th squad doing here?!" He wrapped around the hollows nose and crawled his way to the head, nearly losing his grip, he went as far as to bite on the hollow for more grip, and with one powerful stab... Crack! The menos mask was split. The monster continued to wail as it lived (well, Im not sure if hollows are alive) its last few moments, and Nara landed softly on his feet wiping dirt off his shoulder. "Hmm. Tastes like chicken." He turned his head in the direction of the 11th squad members. "What in the world is going on here? OOC:And on a separate note, his name is yamato Narasumi, does that make sense that i even call him nara or should i call him yamato or narasumi like everyone else? |

@tommy: you can refer to your characters however you wish, as long as it's clear who you're referring to. It's perfectly acceptable to refer to yours and others' characters using nicknames. Just try not to make up nicknames spontaneously without letting us know what's going on ;) Also, I would prefer that you refrained from taking control of other people's characters. I'm sure we can all do just fine controlling our characters ourselves. Thanks! Jidat offered the two ladies a weak smile of appreciation. Were he any other captain, they certainly would have gotten a scolding for such a blatant disregard for his rank. As it was, however, he rather preferred that his comrades didn't trip over themselves to respect him, just because he was a captain. He understood the importance of discipline and that he should enforce his authority, but that didn't stop him from allowing subordinates to be more familiar with him than perhaps he should. On the other hand, Nanase was very inclined to speak up. In fact, she had nearly opened her mouth to say something, when she was stopped by Jidat's quiet acceptance. After hearing the other lieutenant's question, however, she decided to ask one of her own. "Yes, what is your purpose here?" Though convinced it was nothing sinister, she couldn't make herself wait for her captain to ask. "I don't recall any besides ourselves being summoned here in the order. On whose authority did you follow us?" Immediately after asking this, she flash-stepped out of the way of a giant fist, reappearing atop the Gillian's shoulder. Not waiting for her response -- there were other, rather more pressing issues at hand -- she sprinted up the shoulder and sliced cleanly through the back of the hollow's head, breaking the mask in two and causing it to disappear. |

"None'a your damn business," replied Evangeline, watching the way the girl quickly dispatched of the hollow. It was very clean. By-the-book. Hearing something behind her, Evangeline turned and sliced, gutting the nearest hollow with an ease that made up for its messiness-- it wasn't sloppy, exactly (the blow was actually quite accurate and very deliberate), but it certainly had none of Nanase's careful efficiency. It certainly appeared to require less effort on Evangeline's part, at any rate. The hollow growled and doubled over, and all Evangeline had to do to bridge the gap was jump and slice. She'd never held to that attack-from-behind stuff, not when it came down to such a clean, easy fight. "Maybe," she continued, appearing beside Nanase, "I happened to be in the area. Maybe I ain't here on the authority of anyone y'need to be concerned about." She winked at the shorter girl, completely undermining the rough tone of her words. "Fouineur.*" OOC:*"Nosy." |

She stabbed and beat at the hollows with her sword and its sheath. She landed neatly, and then several hollows burst into smoke and then dissapeared into thin air. "But hell, I'm getting my workout for today." Moira smirked a bit, sheathing her sword for the moment. OOC:Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? *pokes* |

Sheathing his sword, Nezei turned to the young Quincy glaring daggers at him. Nezei wasn't even surprised at this hostility, there was a time in his life where he hated the Shinigami for the discrimination they brought against his race. But by becoming one, he was hoping to one day prove there was no difference. Moving back to the rest of the group, Nezei confronted Evangeline.
"Why are the fourth seated officer of the Eleventh squad and the Vice-Captain of the Fourth squad following us?" His eyes held no trace of the calm, joking air of Jidat. Instead, his stare was stern and cold, often more than enough to intimidate an answer from his underlings. However, he did not expect such a easy victory with Evangeline Grace. "Rather, what did Kenpachi tell you?" |

"Told me lots of stuff. Like, never let Fukutaichou have one of those Fourth-squad energy booster things. Runs her right up the wall. Told me how to doctor the finance reports, too, so we can have that kegger this Friday and not have to pay for it ourselves." She sheathed her sword and paused, apparently deep in concentration. "Mentioned somethin' about his hair gel once, I think. No wonder, with those damn bells. You know, I saw him once before Yumi had a chance to get to him. Ain't half as scary without the spikes." There was a short pause, during which she seemed to consider this statement. "But, I mean, he could still kill you just by sneezin'. He just don't look as bad, is all.
"Oh, he also said I ain't supposed to tell anyone why I'm here. If that's what you were askin'." She grinned and winked at Nezei. "Sorry, Sunshine," she said, mentally noting that he was anything but a ray of sunshine, "but I got very strict orders. No messin' around on the job, y'know." OOC:Crap post, sorry.
