OOC: I wish we had had another ship besides Savage's Swordfish for Riley and Esme to sneak out in..... This really makes no sense, in reality. I guess... thank God it's not reality....

Riley turned his empty wallet upside down and was surprised when a couple one- and five-woolong coins fell out. For a second, he hesitated, not sure whether or not he should bother picking them up. While he had a vague feeling that those few coins would soon become more money than they'd seen in a week -- okay, a strong feeling -- at the moment he just wasn't inclined to pick them up. It was Savage's fault that he had some change left, anyway. If he'd given them all the money, like they'd originally planned, Riley would have been able to spend those coins, too. At least, that was how he figured it -- and he was sticking to his figuring.

"I am absolutely ready to yell at Savage some," he said with a grin. There really was no possible way to interpret that in a mischievous way, yet somehow he managed to infuse some mischief into his grin. Riley was particularly good at doing that.

Riley led the way back to Savage's ship (They'd hijacked it so they could sneak down to Ganymede without him knowing -- it wouldn't be fun if he had gone along with them), knowing full well that Esmeralda would get them lost if she led. It was a tight fit, fitting two people in the in the Swordfish's cockpit, but part of the fun would be seeing Savage's face when he saw them squished in there together. After all, they'd "been closer than that many times before," or so Riley planned to suggest.

Without hesitating, Riley hopped up into the cockpit of the Swordfish, trying to shove his bags under the seat and pretty much anywhere he could find.

"This'll be extra tight this time," Riley said to Esme, that grin on his face now properly justified. "Think you can handle it?" Oh yes, seeing Savage's face was going to be priceless.

---

"Aww, how sweet," Vlad said, clutching his hands together and fluttering his eyelashes mockingly. "This will be extra fun brrreaking you, since you are so lahvey-dahvey together. How shall we start, eh?" The man sat down on a rotting old stool, which only managed to amplify his menace. He began to rummage almost idly through that black bag, pulling things out and tossing them aside. First, the screw driver. Then, the saw; a chainsaw, which he revved briefly before setting it aside and chuckling; a large piece of sandpaper; a horseshoe; a cheese grater. And finally, a small chalkboard.

"Oh yesss, Oh yess," he said malevolently, as he began to scratch his nails across the chalkboard's surface. "We start easy, eh? How you like this? Ready to talk now?" He punctuated each word with another awful screech across the chalkboard. "What say you?"

OOC: Oh those crazy Russians....

PS: For some reason, thinking about the captain saying "Happy Captain" in a Russian accent makes me laugh. "Heppy Kyeptin."

"I love it tight," Esme purred, a grin on her face to match Riley's. It helped that, due to the tight space, she was pressed right up against him, her lips close enough to his ear to be quite distracting. (Really, she could have found another way to fit herself in. But, she thought, why would she want to?) "And I know how we can gets back at Savage. Keep him from sleepin'. For a long time."

Well, there was the ship now. Esme always thought these things were going to take longer than they did (and, had she said this out loud, she might have added a little to that statement, in keeping with the grin on her face.) She'd spent most of her life planetside, and had only been introduced to the joys of spaceships in the past few years. She was still hopeless at flying them, and she was still pleasantly surprised every time she realized how fast they were. She reached forward and pressed a button on the panel-- it was the one button she could identify-- activating the intercom system. "Savage, y'big stupid ass. Come help us carry all this shit." Not that they needed the help. But really, why carry it themselves when there was a Savage to do it for them?

OOC:Well, here goes nothing... Sorry if I butcher this...

Layla bit her lip as the large, hairy, scary Russian pirate began pulling out different tools from the bag. They looked well loved, at least he must have enjoyed using them quite a lot as they were mostly rusty and bent. She swallowed nervously as she spotted what looked suspiciously like dried blood and what appeared to be bits of somebody on the most evil looking cheese grater she had ever seen in her entire life. She braced herself for the worst, clinging to Savage as this was quite possibly the last time they would have all they're appendages still attached. However, nothing could prepare her for the horror the captain had in store for them. Her eyes widened at the sight of the chalkboard, and her heart began to pound in her chest.

"No," she whispered desperately, shaking her head, her large eyes staring at the captain pleadingly. "No! NOOOOOO!!!!" She screeched and dug her fingernails into Eliot's shoulders. The sound of his grimy, ingrown nails against the chalkboard made her sensitive eardrums feel like they were about to burst. She wanted to take a hammer and chisel to her own ears.

The terrible sound hurt Savage's ears like someone was shoving chopsticks in them; but by Layla's kung-fu grip on his shoulders it was easy to know this was far worse for her. Jesus, Layla, he thought, as her nails drew blood, It feels like you're the one doing the torturing... But he let her hold on because she clearly needed something to hold on to, and he gently put his hands over her ears, to maybe block out some of the sound.

Savage winced, blinking away a tear, and answered Vlad when he paused between scrapes. "Listen, I'm telling you the truth. My friends are complete assholes. They take all of the money whenever we get any and buy the most ridiculous shit on the planet... I'm talking snakeskin bras and overpriced Italian sunglasses and girly drinks... I've seen the bills. We've got engine parts to replace, and the shower's broken again, among other things... and that's how they spend the money. Every damn time." He shook his head. "In fact, the first thing I think I'll do when I see that bastard Riley is punch him in the stomach. I mean, it's not like this was unexpected... but I'm still really fucking pissed."

"Savage, you there?" Riley said, starting to get annoyed as he tapped impatiently on the radio, wondering if maybe it was just broken. "Pfah, I bet the slacker is just lounging about sleeping or something." That he was describing exactly what he did on a regular basis didn't faze Riley one bit. "Only we're allowed to do any sleeping, and that's not really 'just lounging about.'"

With that, Riley deftly piloted the Swordfish into the awaiting cargo bay of the Angel, set it down, and remotely closed the airlock doors before opening the Swordfish's cockpit.

---

"Still with that line, eh?" Vlad said, entirely unconvinced. He then placed the chalkboard across his lap, and his grin became even more malicious than before as he raised both hands over the surface. "You will talk, do no worry," the pirate warned sinisterly, before stretching his fingers and scraping the nails from both hands across the surface of the chalkboard.

"It can only get worse from here!"

OOC: Sorry... my brain died again, but I needed to post, and we needed to get on the ship so we can get to the part where stuff happens instead of savage and layla getting tortured as esme and riley complain XP

Esme hopped out of the cockpit, leaving the various bags and packages for Savage to pick up for her. The asshole wasn't there to meet them like she'd expected; she'd told him there were packages to pick up, so where the hell was he? "Our kinda sleepin's hard work," she agreed, clearly annoyed. "Bastard's probably sleep in the damn living room." She stalked off to bitch him out-- only to find the living room couch entirely vacant. "Damn bastard," she muttered. He must have been asleep in his own bed, then, which was probably worse; it meant he'd meant to take a nap, the damn lazy jerk. Slacking was one thing. Intentionally slacking-- well, that was just unacceptable.

She turned to head toward the bedroom, but the television caught her eye. It was on. Savage was always yelling at them about turning things off, like lights and TV's, to "save energy" or some shit. "Jerk can't follow his own damn rules," she muttered. The remote was sitting on the beat-up coffee table in front of the couch, but Esme had no intention of turning it off. She never turned things off. Even if she did, she would've left the TV on just to spite Savage. "Damn lazy jerk," she muttered again, then glanced back at the TV, where a loudmouthed cowgirl was listing off the names of the bounties she'd just introduced. One of the names-- and the photo that accompanied it-- caught Esme's attention.

She cocked her head to one side and frowned, watching for a few moments more, then glanced over her shoulder to make sure Riley hadn't yet entered the lounge area. The usual easygoing look on her face had disappeared; she looked serious and, in that short moment, almost concerned. It didn't take her more than a moment to shake it off, however, and she reached for the remote and turned the television off. "Riley, hurry up," she called back to him. "I think he's in the bedroom. Maybe we can jumps on him or something."

But when she entered the bedroom she found that it, too, was empty. As was the luandry room. As was the kitchen. In fact, everything was empty, including the lockers where his and Layla's space suits were stored. "The damn bastard done left," she screeched, her eyes blazing with fury. "I'ma kill the hell outa him!"

OOC:Time to go save Savage's "lazy bastard" butt. I don't know how they'd know he's been kidnapped. Oh well.

Yay for alluding to potential later plot devices.

“All right! All right!" Layla shouted, trying to drown out the wretched noise. Her ears would be ringing for days if this kept up. "I'll talk. J-Just please, stop..." She took his hands in hers and looked up at him, with a melodramatic air.

"The jig is up, Eliot love," she sighed, shaking her head. "We tried, but the money isn't worth our lives." There were still tears in her eyes from the torture which made her all the more helpless looking. Layla had turned him slightly so that his back was more towards the captain and only her face could really be seen. She loved Eliot, but he was a rotten liar. Heck, he couldn't even tell the truth and have people believe him. It was because he was honest. The Russian pirate was expecting evil conniving scumbags because he expected everyone in the universe to be as black-hearted as him and his crew. It made sense to him. Their story, while it might have been true, made no sense. They still seemed to innocent. "I'm sorry, but I'm not strong like you." She gave his hands a squeeze and silently begged him not to screw things up.

"The money's back on the ship," Layla said shakily, crawling over to the captain, sitting on her knees and holding the bars. "We were just about to go spend it when your ship showed up on our monitors. We stashed it all, well except for that one roll. We thought we could trick you." She shook her head and stared at his feet. "We did have two partners, but they were ridiculous, and we never got our fair share, so we knocked them out and threw them out into space with the rest of the trash. We thought we could pin it on them by saying they had taken almost all of the money. We didn't think that you would see through it. We underestimated you, Captain."

"The money's in the washing machine," Layla told him, looking back up at him. Of course he would have never thought to look there on his own. "In the back, under all the lacy scraps of clothing our former teammate always wore. It yours all of it."

Savage sighed deeply, pretending to give up. He didn't say anything, not wanting to screw up Layla's beautiful performance. Instead, he just plastered on a grimace and pretended to be dismayed. Inside, he was thanking Layla and God in all the languages he knew. Loudly and repeatedly.

He thought this was going to work, he hoped this was going to work... well, would it? He was on edge waiting for their torturer's response.

OOC:Nothing really to add for now, until Mr. Torturer responds xD I mean, I could respond to myself, but that's no fun~

Riley had been rushing to catch up to Esme when she'd called -- he didn't want to miss Savage's flustered face, after all -- and skidded to a halt when she announced that he was nowhere to be found.

"I can't believe that he just left!" Riley said, sounding more annoyed than sad. "What are we going to eat tonight?!"

Wait a second, Savage is gone. That thought triggered something in Riley's memory, something Savage had said. He was going on a trip? No, that's not it. Groceries? No, although he certainly would need to sometime in the near future -- Riley had checked the fridge, and it was nearly empty.

"Hey.... Hey Esme, you don't think he was actually serious when he called us on the radio, do you?" Riley asked, sounding like he only half-believed it himself. "About the... the kidnapping thing."

---

A look of triumph spread across Vlad's face as the girl admitted the location of the cash. He offered them one last screech across the surface of the board before he packed up his things.

"You make right choice," the pirate said, tapping Layla's cheeks with his free hand affectionately. He repeated the gesture with Savage, albeit with less affection, as he added, "You, I am not so happy with. Thank your girlfriend that I am not beating you right here and now."

That said, Vlad strode off to find the captain to report his findings.

"The money, she is back on their ship, captain," he said, tossing the bag of stuff in its designated corner.

"Excellent.... Let us make for their ship!"

Esme opened her mouth to reply that no, Savage couldn't possibly have been serious and had probably concocted such an extravagant story merely to throw them off, buy him some more time while he and Layla were off spending the money they'd so selfishly stolen (although it would, in all likelihood, have come out more along the lines of, No. Savage's an ass.)

But he had sounded panicked, come to think of it. And Savage couldn't lie to save his own rotten life. Still... "You thinks he done got his stupid ass kidnapped?" she said incredulously, as though she was trying to confirm what Riley was attempting to say. "Y'thinks anyone'd want to kidnap his stupid ass?" She still looked unconvinced, but part of her wondered whether maybe Riley was right. After all, Savage had mentioned Russian pirates. Russians were weird. Really weird. So weird that they might be inclined to kidnap someone like Savage just for the hell of it. When there was money involved, well-- she wasn't entirely convinced, but she wouldn't have been surprised. Because they were Russians.

And... what if he was telling the truth? What if they killed him? Who would do the laundry? Esme was almost out of clean clothes; all she had left was one very small piece of fabric that somehow managed to function as a shirt, and the stuff she'd bought today. Which, granted, was a lot... but none of it would stay up without tape, and there were some days when she just didn't want to use tape. It tugged in funny places. She needed clean clothes.

"Well, what if they was serious?" she asked, flopping herself down on the couch and playing with a circus knife she'd just pulled from her pocket, flipping it back and forth as she often did when she had nothing else to do with her hands. "Bastard ain't even told us where the hell they is."

OOC:Yay for waiting for crazy Russian pirates... XD

“Well... that worked out nicely," Layla thought out loud, getting to her feet and rubbing the dirty spot on her cheek to clean it off. She shook her head to try to rid her poor ears of the annoying ringing sound. Her former occupation as a full time criminal made her wits keen and she had always prided herself on being able to work under pressure. The problem wasn't solved, as they were still hostages on a rather dismal pirate ship and the desired loot was not on the ship, but at least she had managed to buy them sometime to figure out what to do. However, there wasn't all that much time, and Layla knew too well what would happen if they didn't think of something fast enough, and it made her blood freeze. She went back to Eliot and smiled warmly.

"You did wonderful, Eliot," she told him as she licked her thumb and started to rub out the smudge left on his cheek. She saw the little stains from the puncture wounds her fingernails had left on her shoulders. "Don't worry. We'll be ok." She ruffled his hair and gave him cheerful smile before getting to her feet. Her smile vanished and she started to pace back and forth in the little cell, her face was drawn into a little frown as she concentrated.

If they were lucky, they would be taken aboard the ship with the pirates. If they were lucky, Riley and Esme would have returned and hopefully they would notice that a band of angry pirates were about to board the ship and have enough time to grab some guns or something. If they were lucky, the pirates would be surprised long enough that Layla and Savage could grab a weapon of some sort as well. At least the numbers would be a little more equal. Then, if everything worked out all right, they could either convince the pirates to leave or force them out. Ok, yeah, her plan was crap. She wasn't very happy with it either. Too much of it relied on luck, and Lady Luck had been treating them like a crazy, psychotic, vengeful ex-girlfriend as of late.

"No, I can't imagine that anyone'd want to kidnap Savage," Riley said idly, sitting down in a chair adjacent to Esme's couch. He eyed her knife with only a hint of skeptical nervousness; by now he'd come to understand that she was very skilled with the thing, but that didn't stop him from worrying just a little bit any time she decided to entertain herself with it.

"Layla, perhaps, is pleasing to the eye at any rate, and I'm sure pirates could find a market on which to sell her," Riley mused, leaning back and running his hands through his hair before locking his fingers together behind his head. "But Savage.... Well, he just eats and talks... and cooks... and cleans...."

Suddenly, Riley shot to his feet, eyes wide with sudden realization. "Those bastards," he said, with as much indignation as he ever said anything, striding towards one of the bags that he'd had to carry inside himself. After reaching an arm deep inside, he came up within seconds with a semi-automatic pistol and a spare clip in his hand. Riley slid the spare clip into a pocket, then ejected the clip from the pistol with a flick of his thumb, checking that it was full. Satisfied, he slid it back in and pulled back the slide to load a round into the chamber.

"They've gone and kidnapped Savage so he can do their chores!" he revealed to Esme, switching on the safety and tucking the weapon into the waist of his pants for the time being. "I'll never forgive them. There's got to be some sort of clue we can follow to catch their trail!"

---

Meanwhile, the pirates continued to get closer. Yeah.

OOC:Because I had nothing to post ;__; I'm gonna move the pirates to you guys, hope that helps

"Haha, thanks," Savage laughed nervously. Off in the distance, he heard the air lock sealing, and then the bay door opening. The pirates were off to the Angel. He just hoped that some miracle would happen, and the two of them wouldn't be killed when the pirates came back a few minutes from now, pissed at finding no money...

-

They entered through the still-open bay door, and back in through the air lock... each step sounding against the riveted metal floor loudly. They split up, and one group found the laundry room, and there was no money behind the washing machine! The others found... Riley and Esme.

"We have been tricked!" The leaders of both groups shouted at once.

Esme's eyes widened as she realized that Riley could very possibly be right. About Layla, of course; Esme was fond of the girl, despite her ridiculous naïveté (or perhaps because of it), but also about Savage. Savage wasn't much good at doing chores, but he did them, and it meant she didn't have to. Of course that's why he'd been kidnapped. Why else would anyone want him? "Them jerks," she said, sitting up straight. Her knife disappeared somewhere into one of the pouches on her belt. There were more there, and she didn't bother to find a gun as Riley had. She was more skilled with knives anyway. "Yeah," she agreed, standing up, "a clue." She wasn't sure what kind of clue, exactly, Russian space pirates were likely to leave, but she was sure Riley had some idea and she was more than willing to follow him now and bitch everyone out later.

When she heard someone speak-- in a Russian accent, no less-- she whirled around to face him with a grace that might have been surprising to anyone who'd ever heard her speak. It took one knife to slice a gash in the right side of the pirate's space suit, and a second, following precisely in its path, to sever the carotid artery. Both flew from her fingers quick as a glance; even if the man had been expecting knives, there would have been little time to defend himself. "There's y'damn clue,," she muttered. If she felt any shock or remorse at her own actions, which had been executed with an automatic sort of calm, she hid it well. "Where the fuck is he?" she said evenly, addressing the other pirates as their leader bled out onto the cold metal floor. It was messy, but Savage could clean it up after they saved his sorry ass. Sorry, lazy ass. Stupid useless Savage. Now her voice began to rise. "The hell you done with 'im?"

As soon as he noticed Esme move, Riley spun around, snatching the gun from where he'd stashed it and aiming quickly. Continuing in a smooth motion, he shot the hands or arms of the remaining four pirates, effectively disarming them, before training the iron sights of his pistol on the one nearest.

"Talk quickly man," Riley said, flexing his trigger finger, and motioning for the pirates to get on the floor. "I've got plenty of rounds left in this clip, and no compunctions against using them on you sorry lot."

"I will no betray my cap--" the pirate began to say, before he fell violently backwards into the lap of his friend, forehead spewing a disconcerting mixture of smoke and blood.

"Any other heroes?" Riley asked, spitting on the floor and cocking the hammer of his pistol back as threateningly as he could manage.

"The laundry room!" one of the other three remaining pirates nearly shouted in a thick accent. "They are... the laundry room. Searching the money."

Riley glanced at Esme for a translation, explanation, a plan -- anything, really. He knew getting them to talk was an important step in this situation, but wasn't exactly sure what to do next. This was the sort of thing Savage usually took care of. That's just like him to be captured right when we need him, Riley thought miserably. He'll be getting an earful about this!
