OOC: Though the "Captain Jack..." part may make you think I ripped off Jack Sparrow, I definitely didn't. He was actually inspired by someone completely unrelated (Please don't kill me!)

Name: Fitzwilliam “Captain Jack Frost” Radley
Age: 29
Occupation: Captain
Alliance: Pirates (by default)
Items: Rapier, Pistol

Description: “Frost” looks exactly as his nickname suggests: stately, but cold and emotionless. Even ignoring the fact that he’s a pirate, he dresses impeccably – you could even dare to say he dresses stylishly. From his jacket to his vest to his boots, everything is in perfect order. Even his hair looks reasonably clean and neat. Were it not for the raucous bunch he hangs around with, he could easily pass for a rich gentleman. He carries himself with unrivaled grace and poise, causing him to be much more imposing than most other pirates, whose posture is… less than perfect.

The captain has a handsome face with unexpectedly soft lines. This is contrasted, however, by his sharp, grey eyes. Though, as his nickname implies, the rest of his face rarely shows any more emotion than that of a corpse, his eyes have a fierce, even alluring intensity. With those eyes, it would seem like he could look straight through a person and analyze the content of their soul – Many people who had seen them believed that he could. The majority of those thought that he could even read minds, to know when someone was lying or not.

Had his company a higher caliber intelligence, they might have suggested that Frost’s face is a metaphor for his personality. On the outside, he is like a marble statue – the manifestation of intelligence and style, yet cold and dead to anything besides rational thought. On the inside, however, he is sentimental and cares greatly for his friends and those under his charge. Of course, the company he keeps in not of such intelligence, and very few know him that well.

Though his appearance suggests it already, Radley is very different from most pirates. First, he is almost unbearably patient. This can be good and bad: good, if you owe him money; bad, if he wants information from you and you’re in his brig. Second, is his almost ridiculous politeness. Though he will kill anyone in his way (or order them killed) without hesitation, he will not harm a woman or child – physically, mentally, or otherwise. If he sees or hears of a crew member committing such a crime, he will not only throw them off of his ship immediately, but stab a knife through their hand: He says it’s so the fool has a fair chance with the sharks; his crew says it’s so the sharks have a fair chance of finding their meal. If it so happens that such a breach occurs on land, then a duel will decide the fate of the offender, and “Captain Jack Frost” does not lose sword duels.

Radley readily commands the respect of his crew – anything he says gets done, without question. Despite his rather standoffish personality, anyone who has ever sailed on his ship keeps him in their highest regard. They trust him so strongly that even if he were to allow a woman to sail aboard the ship, they would scarcely question it. If they did, of course, it would take little more than a sharp glare from those eyes to answer that question.

History:

“Captain Jack Frost” was born Fitzwilliam Alfred Tennison Radley to a wealthy family in London. He was the oldest of seven children, and great things were expected of him. Consequently, his upbringing was much stricter than that of his siblings. He was forced to improve himself in music, art, literature, mathematics, and fencing. While he did excel in all areas – especially fencing; he actually enjoyed wielding the sword – he greatly resented his parents’ prodding and their ignorance of his wishes. As a result of their repeated dismissals, he began more and more to shut away his emotions.

At seventeen, already cold to the world, Radley was shipped off to the Naval Academy. Though he was glad to be away from his parents, he knew that he was not yet away from their prying eyes. So, he continued to work hard and four years later, he graduated at the top of his class. Immediately, he was offered a commission as a Lieutenant on the HMS Enterprise which he accepted.

It was on his fourth voyage on the Enterprise that things turned bad for young Radley. Or, perhaps it was then that they first turned good. Blown hopelessly off course by an abnormally strong storm, Radley’s ship slipped into unsafe waters – right into the hands of a certain Captain “Walker.”

There ensuing struggle could hardly be called a “battle.” After the damage from the storm, it was more like Walker helping the Enterprise to give up. However, in the midst of the struggle, Radley seized an opportunity and challenged Walker to a duel. At the time, he had no idea what he was doing. Later, in a letter to his younger brother he would suggest that it was all those years of longing to rebel against his parents’ designs for him erupting at once.

Indeed, the moment he suggested the terms of the duel, there was no way he could return to Her Majesty’s Navy. His terms were that, if he won, Walker could take the ship and all its goods, including the crew, for whatever he desired. If Radley won, however, he demanded command of Enterprise, provisions intact, but minus any valuables and with enough of the pirate crew to keep the vessel afloat – at least until he could recruit his own.

Surprised and almost inspired by the young man’s courage, Walker agreed to the terms. He didn’t expect to lose, and besides – even if he was about to, he could have his men finish the boy off anyway. Needless to say, he didn’t get quite what he was expecting. Radley’s one interest served him well, and he killed Walker outright; he hadn’t expected the pirate to live up to his end of the bargain otherwise.

With that, he assumed command of Walker’s ship, The Red Triumph. It was, after all, vastly superior to the Enterprise, and in much better condition. Though stunned at first at the sudden loss of their captain, Radley commanded with such speed and strength of will that they were left with no choice but to listen. Though they resented being commanded by someone who was so young, they could not doubt his intensity and gradually accepted him.

The Enterprise was looted, of course, and the crew left at a nearby port. She, however, was sold to the French government for a hefty sum – this certainly increased Radley’s popularity. They had certainly never seen a captain with such finesse and who had such a knack for dealing with official-types. On top of that, of course, was the fact that he used to be in the Royal Navy and had the guts to challenge a pirate captain to a duel – and win!

Random notes: His nickname before taking over The Red Triumph was “Seamonkey” Radley. Don't ask.

Yes, PIE! And, yes POST! ^^

Haha, well there's definitely room on his crew, but, at least for now.... I don't think he actually has a ship.

So Jenny may want her own ship, unless she's going to help me "acquire" one XD I guess we'll see what happens when I start writing (I only have a vague idea of where I want the history to start and end up, as usual...)

I "finished" it. I think it's done, but... eh, who knows. Oh, and in the end I decided to give him a ship, because it made more sense that way. Anyone want to join? :)

In addition to comments/suggestions/pie, I'm now accepting warm, moist brownies and milkshakes (strawberry or jamoca). But not both at the same time... cause that just would be weird o_O;

^_^

Now we just need people to finish their characters *cough* or make them in the first place... *cough*

Strawberry milkshake, please.

FITZWILLIAM!!! XD And Seamonkey. Lol. Don't have to ask. :P

I like him. And, once again, I claim a spot on his ship. In case anyone's forgotten. XD (Oh, and he totally can't know Marc's a girl. Even if his crew would be too cowed to protest.)
