Name: Jidat Katsushiro
Age: 22
Race: Human
Title: Shadow Jedi Master
Occupation: (Body Guard)
Alliance: Neutral
Items: Two lightsabers, both without an external power switch and one in the shape of a dragon, and one blaster pistol

Physical Description: Katsushiro is an athleticly built young man who appears to be in his early twenties. He is attired in somewhat ragged robes which resemble those of a Jedi. However, they are all in varying shades of grey, perhaps out of intention or perhaps from lack of proper care. His sharp angular eyes percieve every detail of the world about him, piercing right into the soul of anyone he looks at. His left eye is a deep shade of crimson, however his right is a light shade of blue. This contrast, though hardly visible in anything but very clear lighting, is always noticable and even from a distance seems to create a sense of strangeness about the Shadow Master. His dark brown hair is but a few inches short of being shoulder length, and while it is clean and straight, it has a sense of wildness about it. It appears neat enough to have been combed, and yet Katsushiro's demeanor might lead one to believe it was not.

Personality: Katsushiro is an extremely intelligent young man, and has been since a child. However, his lack of formal education has left him without much care for numbers or history, beyond the realm of his own lifetime. However, he is quite a linguist, and has learned to at least be able to get by in scores of languages from across the galaxy, due to his vast travellings. Jidat's major flaw lies in his laziness. Though witty and sharp as a tack, it generally takes a great cause for the Shadow Master to muster the energy to act. The thought of manual labor is repulsive to him, if for no other reason than the constant expenditure of energy. When he grows serious about something -- which is hardly ever, mind you -- he put his heart and soul into it, and often finds himself willing to sacrifice his own life. It is his wit which has helped this young man through many of the problems he's faced, especially in his years before his formal training at the Jedi Academy. His sharp tongue has also, however, gotten him into many of said problems.

History: From an early age, Katsushiro was on his own and left to his own devices. When he was three his mother died, shortly after giving birth to a little girl. The siblings were put in a small, poorly funded establishment which could hardly pass as an orphanage, far from their home. There the two lived for several years, when on Katsushiro's sixth birthday, a strange man in dark robes visited the orphanage. It was rare to get visits in this desolate place, and to have one was cause for some celebration. The manager of the small establishment gave the man a tour of the building after a meager meal. What happened next, nobody could have forseen.

When the man's eyes fell upon Jidat's younger sister, he immediately declared that he would take her as an apprentice. Nobody understood what he meant, of course, but they assumed the stranger intended to adopt the little girl. She, on the other hand, had much different ideas, for she was frightened by the dark-robed man, and did not want to go with him. This, of course, did not please the man. When the tour finished and he came to collect the girl, Katsushiro stood firmly in front of her, his arms out to his sides to protect her. The manager wrung his hands nervously, unsure what to do. Though it was clear the girl didn't want to go, it was difficult for him to argue with having one less child to take care of. Nevertheless, he suddenly remembered a rule which his father, the founder of the orphanage, had set. This was that if siblings didn't want to be split up, they could not be. The man flatly refused to take both. Thus, a problem arose.

Rather than waiting to resolve things peacably, the man burst into a fit of rage. "If I cannot have her," he shouted fiercly, "then no one shall!" He faced the girl and closed his hands around some invisible object, and the girl began to suffocate. Within moments, she was dead and the man was gone.

It was said that Katsushiro was never the same from that day on. He seemed to participate as he always had, but his eyes always betrayed him, staring off into the distance, never really focusing on anyone even when speaking directly to a person. Within a month, he started to disappear, first one night out of the week, then two, and quickly he left every single night. Then, one night, he didn't return.

To escape from the pain of loss, Katsushiro was quite literally escaping. He found his way to the nearest city, a small spaceport, and one day decided to stay there. Despite being way below what could be considered a legal age in most of the universe, he found work. It was, of course, for little pay and a lot of work. Nevertheless, it was a distraction. However, the young boy found himself unable to stay; something seemed to call him to someplace far off, and he could not ignore this call. So, about four months after his sister's death, he found himself sneaking onto a large freighter, bound for a destination whose name Katsushiro couldn't even hope to pronounce. It felt right, however, for some strange reason, which was also unknown.

For four months he lived like this, sneaking onto transport ships, working for food and money to buy strange objects which he had never seen before, but felt for some strange reason that he must have, and moving on to some new place. By the end of this journey, he found himself in the posession of a curious set of assorted things -- a small block of (almost worthless) Arkanian gold, a power supply and various other electronics, a collection of carving tools, a pair of tiny jewels, and a medium-sized crystal. This crystal was perhaps the most interesting, mainly because it was found, not stolen or bought. It was a rather opaque white, and yet seemed to glitter and glow in the correct lighting with a myriad of colors.

At the moment, he no longer felt a need to move, and instead found a small place to live in with a make-shift roof and a supply of food, however meager. For the next month, he carved the gold almost non-stop into the only shape he could think of that would make sense -- he carved a dragon, for that was his sister's favorite creature. He never had the heart to tell her that they didn't exist, and always promised he would one day show her one. He sorely regretted not being able to show her one before she died.

When he finished at the end of the month, he had a respectable-looking dragon, which he hollowed out in order to place the electronics -- though he put them in he could not explain how or why he was doing so. The two jewels became the dragon's eyes. With his work complete, whatever it was, he rested, returning to his work, keeping the dragon close to his heart at all times.

Several months passed, until one day a friendly-looking man in long, flowing robes appeared at his "home." It was exactly one year since his sister's death. The man explained that he was from an academy which trained "gifted young people" like Katsushiro so that they could become something called "Jedi," who could protect the galaxy. Remembering his past and sorely wishing a "Jedi" had been around a year previous, the young boy accepted.

The next years which passed saw a steady improvement in Katsushiro's outlook on life. He no longer had to work like a slave in order to get a few crusts of bread and a mug of flithy water to eat each day. His clothes were clean. He learned that the dragon was in fact a lightsaber, which was activated by the force. But most important of all, he was learning to defend others. Because of his intense desire to do this, his skills with a lightsaber greatly excelled those of his peers, and could even duel some of the instructors evenly, if only for a few moments before their superior speed wore him out. His skills with the force were equally impressive, though he still had one great flaw -- he was "too emotional." All the teachers warned that he would fall to the dark side if he did not control his emotions. He continued, nevertheless, to use his emotions. It gave him strength, after all, and he didn't understand why he could not use them.

At the age of thirteen, after being rejected as a padawan for the same thing he'd been told over and over again, Katsushiro left the academy. He was frustrated with the constant insults hurled at his emotions, and disillusioned with the Jedi way which forbade them. Out on his own again, but now with a weapon and a means to get money and defend it. Not only that, but he could attempt to make up for his inability to protect his sister.

It started out well enough; he was able to help many people by hanging around the bad parts of Coruscant, and was able to find nice places to stay and good food to eat by "pursuading" the clerks and waiters that he had already payed, as well as using a bit of Jedi magic to make himself seem invisible. However, he soon found himself doing exactly what he'd been warned against -- he was using the powers of the Sith, and was not even worrying about who he might accidentally hurt. It was time, he decided, to sit down and think.

So, think he did. For nearly fourty-eight hours straight, he sat in meditation, searching for answers to the questions which had been plaguing him since he entered the academy. Why must there be a distinction between Light and Dark? Why am I forbidden to feel emotions, which can grant such strength? Why does using this strength seem to draw me towards a bad future? These answers he finally found after about twenty hours of deep meditation. The solution lay in a balance between these forces within him, so that he could use the strength from both -- the healing, intelligence, and calmness of the Light side, and the raw power of the Dark side. This balance was what he achieved during the last twenty-eight hours of meditation. After that, he slept, ate, and felt immeasurably lighter, and more at one with the world and himself.
