Name: Lyn Kiyoshi Race: Android (organic synthetic) Class: Ninja Alignment: Neutral. As a bounty hunter, Lyn may not remain neutral for long, however. Age: Programmed 19, probably centuries old Height: 5'9" Weight: 240 lbs Hair color: light blue Eye color: brown Skills and abilities (Note: many of Lyn’s more magic-like abilities are powered by an internal ether generator. Ether abilities are designated with “eth” after the name.) Raijingeki (eth.): A straight-forward, lightning-saber stab. Somewhat slow to start, unless used as a combo finisher. Hyoroga (eth): An extremely high jump, allowing Lyn to stick to ceilings. While on the ceiling, he can shoot icicles downward. Stealth Dash: A speedy dashing motion that stops on a dime. Distance traveled is relatively short. Lyn leaves behind a shadowy after-image where he started his dash, and is very hard to track while dashing (his trailing scarf is a good indicator, though). Stealth: Lyn naturally moves silently, even in his armor. He also has a visual cloaking device which, when active, allows him to blend partially with the background. Pressure Secrets: Lyn is a master at applying acupuncture technique to combat. If he chooses, he can strike a pressure point on the body to cripple or kill. Arms or legs struck are temporarily paralyzed, a hit to a torso pressure point will diminish or arrest breathing, and a hit to the head will temporarily stun. Lyn also knows the most vulnerable points of the human body, and can kill with a light blow, crushing and tearing vital organs and nerve clusters with deadly precision. It is worth note that this skill requires extreme accuracy to function, and Lyn has been known to miss. He may also use this skill in conjunction with arm locks and other submission holds, for aggravated damage. Perfect Balance: Lyn can walk across slick surfaces as if they were a normal floor, and can balance on very thin ledges. Ether Limit: Temporarily disengages the limiters on Lyn’s ether generator, providing a temporary boost of speed and strength. Lyn is winded afterwards and must take a minute to rest; during this period he is slower and less agile than usual and cannot use ether-dependant abilities. He also avoids using his other special abilities. Damocles Photon (eth): Fires a multitude of beams from the spikes/fins on his back. These beams rain down on a target area, causing moderate damage to anything within it. Split-Image Slice: Lyn dashes around his enemies, leaving behind illusory copies of himself. These copies proceed to slash apart the enemy before them, causing actual damage. This ability is primarily used when fighting a group. Weapons: Beam Saber: Lyn’s beam saber’s blade is designed to mimic that of a fencing foil or rapier. It is extremely thin, and about 3.5 feet long. The blade’s shape is not indicative of preferred style of use. Throwing Needles: Metal needles about the length of a pencil, and about as wide at their widest point. They taper from the center to very sharp points at each end. Lyn is very skilled with this usually nonlethal weapon, and is deadly accurate in hitting pressure points, joints, or other high-damage areas. The needles can be thrown accurately to a range of 30 feet. Shuriken Shield: A “beam shield” capable of blocking most normal projectiles. After a short charging period, it can be thrown as a large shuriken, which returns like a boomerang. Lyn cannot dash while using this as a shield, and is completely vulnerable while it is in flight. Other Equipment: Smoke Grenades Repair Nanites. Medium combat armor, special issue. Appearance: Lyn’s about average height for his apparent age, and has a light, thin build. He has brown eyes and shoulder-length blue hair. He has a dark purple, triangular mark on his right cheek, running from his jaw-line to a point under his eye. His armor is dark green, with silver trim. The bodysuit worn under his armor is dull gold. He has a purple scarf tied around his right arm. His armor is primarily a ceramic breastplate, bracers, pauldrons and boots. His breastplate has an odd array of spike-like venting fins on the back, which can be folded into smaller units. His subarmor bodysuit and sub-dermal armors act similar to chainmail, hardening under sudden shock, and are also effective conductors of heat. So, bullets tend not to penetrate, and the damage from a laser is lessened since some of the heat is conducted away and dissipated. When in street clothes, Lyn usually wears jeans and a t-shirt, sometimes also a black jacket with lots of pockets. He sometimes also wears an armored pressure suit and helmet. He has a pretty androgynous face, and a normally soft, somewhat feminine voice; it usually bothers him when he's mistaken for a girl. As a combat android, Lyn is constructed of somewhat tougher components than usual, mostly "modifications" to the standard android body. His bones are ceramic composites and pseudo-plastics, which are much less likely to break than a human's. His muscle is dense and heavily enhanced by nanotechnology, and he has a thin layer of sub-dermal carbon fiber armor. Like all organic synthetics, Lyn must eat and drink, although he needs less food than a human; he also bleeds. He is both heavier and stronger than his build would suggest. Most advanced androids are very hard to identify biologically, although bone marrow tests prove conclusive. The advanced nanocomputer brain (solid-state, as the case with combat models, to reduce potential damage from impact shock to a minimum) is also a usual giveaway. Personality: When he’s not actively discouraging people from talking to him, Lyn’s acts much like a typical 19 year old human. He also enjoys a good party and will frequent dance clubs and bars, sometimes for fun, sometimes for information. He’ll joke around with people he doesn’t know, but he may also make it clear that he doesn’t want to talk with them. Unless it’s about work; some may have a hard time realizing that he is, in fact, one of the most feared and successful bounty hunters in the galaxy. Lyn makes friends slowly, outside of his profession, although whatever bonds of friendship he forges are strong and honored. He is loyal to a friend and won’t betray them unless forced to; he also enjoys a good friendly sparring match. While on a mission, he tends to lose a bit of his silly attitude. Like any android, he has the empathy of a brick, although he can still provide the proper emotional responses to a given situation. Therefore, he often comes off as a little cold or odd; his primarily military experience and programming do not aid him in understanding and respecting the emotions of others. He's not the best in some social situations. Despite this, he owns a pet dog, Interceptor. Quirks: Even if he likes you, he never does work for “charity,” although he’s been known to forget to collect. “The dog eats strangers.” Likes those fruity mixed drinks, but prefers not to admit it since he has a “badass” image to keep. Background: Lyn keeps his exact origins to himself. He’s an advanced combat android built by a highly technological society, and has a large number of high-tech weapons at his disposal, some of which appear to mimic the magic of other cultures. He’s highly skilled in multiple forms of unarmed combat, and is extremely dangerous with his weapon of choice. Lyn prefers to rely on speed, agility, and accuracy than brute strength, and his beam saber and certain esoteric skills complement this style well. Lyn has little true magical ability, although he can use some “ether-tech” that has been built into his body. Lyn owns a small ship, the Crimson Lotus. It’s fast, heavily armed, and probably illegally modified. Despite its name, the ship is covered in jet black camouflage polymer, which, when activated, allows it to blend into its surroundings. The Lotus is crewed solely by Lyn, his dog, and the ship’s AI. The dog doesn’t do much. It’s a small ship, and has room for a small number of passengers or additional crew. Naturally, it’s hyperspace capable, and has a teleporter system. Probably one of the other most notable features onboard is the nanite-based repair system Lyn keeps in his room and uses to treat his injuries. He also usually takes a supply of nanites with him on missions to restore some minor wounds. The ship’s AI covers for most of the control tasks while in space, although Lyn takes over the piloting and weapons systems in a fight. Otherwise, he’s either hanging out or doing routine maintenance on himself or the ship. Notes: Since Lyn is usually on the side of profit, he'll probably end up under the emply of Valkier rather quickly. Which is fine by me, since it might be fun to play an antagonist. And someone has to be bothering the heroes who isn't the emperor himself. Changing sides for whatever reason may occur. Reference art Lyn does not have the forearm laser in this version. Otherwise, the armor is accurate. |

Your character is very well thought out and the description is very helpful in understanding your character, to say the least. I don't see any particular problems with it, however there is a phrase under the "quirks" which I didn't quite understand: [quote:f7beb4f4fc]“The dog eats strangers.” Likes those fruity mixed drinks, but prefers not to admit it since he has a “badass” image to keep. [/quote:f7beb4f4fc] This is just a minor thing, so basically other than that he's approved :) A few notes for you, however: if you've read the whole theme (daunting task XD) then you know that the rebel's base basically looks like a large pile of scrap in the middle of an asteroid and debris field. Thus, even Valkier's extensive searches, scans, etc. could not locate it, and so even for a bounty hunter like yourself it may prove impossible to locate it. That isn't to say, however, that you couldn't locate smaller bases or individual crews/ships which are away from it, but do know that every single member of the resistance is extremely loyal to the cause, and extracting any information from one would prove quite difficult. I would say that most of them would easily choose death over betrayal. Also, you would probably also know of the immense bounty on Falcone's head, with which you could buy a small planet or two (i forget exactly what I wrote it down as in the theme, but I'm pretty sure I did somewhere). Presently, Falcone's been captured and the bounty (temporarily) suspended; but he's going to be freed as the first little "Tiny-Plot," as they were called in a certain RP I was in previously. How this is going to be done is pretty much beyond me, as is how long it will take, but that's the first goal. After that it goes completely to whatever people come up with again :) So yes, to conclude, the character's yours. Just explain to me that thing from the Quirks, and as soon as I start the RP you can go ahead and post. You could even open a new thread with a sort of side story, since you're not allied with most/any of the current characters at the moment. |

I has a character named Shadow who also owns a dog, and that's what he'll tell you when you first meet him, if you bother his dog.
The one about mixed drinks has to do with Lyn's perception of what makes one tough. He thinks that a tough guy can't go around ordering drinks with funny names, fruit juice and little umbrellas in them. However, he likes them anyway. |

I was just reading it wrong ^^; |

Easier to just go after any related target that gets him money. Falcone is an obvious choice, but every bouny hunter in the galaxy will be after him. This makes opportunities for cleaning up on a number of less lucrative operations.
Also, as far as the base being impossible to find. If this is anything like Star Wars, it'll eventually be found. And "military intelligence" is widely regarded as an oxymoron; Valkier's empire probably doesn't ahve the smartest people running everything to overlook things. Analysis of rebel ship movements, scanning for communications 9unless it's all run by courier) and various other methods might provide clues to narrow down the area. There's also the old trick of hiding a homing beacon on a rebel ship as it escapes. But, I suspect finding the rebel base isn't as fun as hunting down ships on missions and getting paid for destroying them. Or captruing improtant rebel figures. Doesn't matter if they'll let themselves be torutured to death before they break, if the'yre in imperial prisons, they can't continue to cause trouble for the empire. |

Naturally, it would also prove difficult for the rebellion as well, but it is easier to defend than attack; their defense is well fortified by natural barriers, and even if Valkier were to have larger battleships destroy said barriers, it would never-the-less slow them down enough for the Rebellion to counter-attack, with their superior knowledge of the region. (I assume that due to the nature of the region, radar/sonar-type scans would be limited to very short range, making them almost irrelevant or unreliable; vision and prior knowledge would be key to navigation of such a region.)
However you make very good points, and I look forward to interesting space dog-fights and chases, etc. -- not to mention duels :) |

Clouds of dust and dense, hot gases could easily foil radar detection, by scattering it or creating interference. Sonar is completely useless and impractical in the vacuum of space.
The Rebels do have the home-team advantage in their debris field, and it'd be easier to scan it visually using small, maneuverable fighters than systematically pick one's way through with battleships. if antimatter can be generated and stroed in sufficient quantities, missiles and torpedoes can be made with extremely small size and extremely large destructive power. Anyway, I'll try to shut up about all this stuff now, sicne it's drifting very far off topic. Not that it matters. |
