[quote:a3e8ddbe88]Well, I kinda hinted that I'd never been here before but I like this much better[/quote:a3e8ddbe88]

Benny, or Bobby for short term life insurance among the mob... and Liam, grinned and lit the cigarette perched between his lips. He doused the used match as he exhaled a cloud of smoke above his head where it churned into a dark halo.

"My My My, Kitty," Benny chuckled softly and grabbed the lone glass. "You should really show your guests more courtesy. I'd hate to be an old friend of yours especially when this one" -Benny smirked proudly and pulled a neat stack of bills from his bag- "has enough money to buy this garage"

Benny had no intention of buying the Phantom Jack, of course, but he could have if he felt like it. Benny's little profession of writing only got him so much cash, but the extra work he did as a spy got him so much more. So, without hesitation, Benny slammed the thick brick of cash right under Kitty's nose.

Pulling the cigarette from his mouth, Benny McBride took a long, well-deserved drink. "I think that should just about cover my expenses. Carefully stacked, counted, and bound by yours truly"

Evelyn squealed happily, and hugged the money brick to her chest. Then she half-jump/half-pulled herself onto the bar and threw her arm around the reporter. “Bobby, I will love ye forever!” she declared, and she sat back and fingered the bills. “It just covers the interest, too.” The flapper slid off the bar and put the money in the cash register behind the bar. “Ye need t’ visit me more often,” she smiled at him over her shoulder and gave him a wink.

“No, Liam, not t’night,” she said to the bouncer, waving him away. “I like Bobby.” The mountain of a man had snuck up behind Benny, ready to crush him like a bug, but when Evelyn told him off, he sighed and went off to see if he could fix the door.

“Ye seem t’ be doin’ pretty well fer yerself,” she commented as she fixed one of Richelle’s men a drink and slid it over to him. “Business must be good, eh?” The armadillo waddled across the bar over to her and she rubbed the area around his ears.

"Business is always good," Benny reported proudly. "And its always getting better"

Too true. As long as the mobs were around, as long as there were greedy and desperate corporations Benny would always be able to live like a king in rags. Also, the bonuses of being rich were thus: never being in want for... anything and then there was Kitty's temporary affection.

"I see that you and Typhoon are doing well, too," Benny said appraisingly. "The Phantom Jack looks... er..." Benny glanced towards Liam, who was piecing the shattered door back into its frame. "...it looks great. I don't know about the crowd though"

"Wait, that reminds me," Benny continued with no small amount of fear. "Where, exactly, is the Typhoon?"

“Bridget ”˜the Typhoon’ O’Dailey,” Evelyn sighed, and shook her head, ashamed that her Irish twin became a Prohibitionist. She had heard about ”˜the Typhoon’ but hadn’t figured out it was her sister until that night. Benny seemed acquainted with her though. “Hey, how did-“ she stopped in mid-sentence and rolled her eyes, remembering Benny’s occupation. “Never mind.”

“Well, she’s obviously still in Chicago, unfortunately,” Kitty pouted. “Actually, ye just missed her. She stopped by t’ pay me a li'l visit. Went in that door and then left through it, but only after she took the liberty of redecoratin' the place.” She motioned to the wide open room. “When the band comes outa hidin’ I’ll start fixin’ the place back up. The Phantom Jack’ll be up n’ runnin’ before the 5 o’clock crowd shuffles in.” She clenched her fists, and looked determined.

“If my crazy, Mormon twin sister thinks a few turned over tables and some broken bottles are gonna stop me, she has another thing comin’.” Kitty scooped up her armadillo and rubbed noses with him. “Doesn’t she Willy Dilly? Yesh, she doesh!” she gushed, and giggled when William Patrick Dylan squeaked merrily. Evelyn set him down in front of Benny, and grabbed his empty glass. “Let me refill that for ye. What brought ye t’ me humble establishment anywho? Is somethin’ big suppose t’ be goin’ down?”

Lucia and Vito looked at each other, raising an eyebrow at the new arrival. Another one they'd seen before, but his one, they couldn't place.
Guido's lips formed the word 'reporter.'
Lucia cocked her head. "Hm."
Several of the others called for refills. Lucia just wanted some ice-water, and said so.

Just then, Gino walked through the empty doorframe and into the bar.
"Padre...?" Vito said, a little confused and surprised.
"Che cosa l'inferno?" Gino said, eyes widening at the bar and its patrons. "Perchè siete alambicco qui? E perchè sono qui?" He tugged at his tie, face flushing a bit. "Non posso crederlo! Persino avete fatto il vostro lavoro, Lucia?"
She wanted to sink down into her chair when her uncle talked to her in that tone. He rarely did, and only when he was having a bad day, or was worried about her. So that made it all the more scary when he did lose it.
"Piuttosto, il tedesco ha fatto il lavoro," she replied, giving him the money.

Gino calmed down slowly, now that he knew his niece had accomplished her mission. "Spiacente, è stato un giorno realmente difettoso..." He said, tenderness in his voice. He was always genuinely sorry when he lost it, and he never got angry without a reason. He was extremely relieved that his son and adopted daughter had completed their job, and escaped Capone's wrath. He sometimes had to play bad-cop to protect them, but he felt it was worth it.

"Tatto più meglio, uomo anziano," Vito said, his voice jovial. "Desideri bere?"
Gino's face took on a sour look, and he gave his son a monkey-bite, swift and painful, on his upper arm.
"Ow, oh God. I take it back, old ma--dad. NO! NO MORE," Vito said in mock terror, tears starting at the corners of his eyes. "Nohohohohohoo! Please!"
"Welcome to BizarroWorld?" Flower said, shrugging.
"Tell me about it," Lucia said, rolling her eyes. Curiouser and curiouser things become, Lucia thought.

OOC:Translation~
Gino: What the hell’s going on? What are you still doing here? What are THEY doing here? UNBELIEVABLE! Have you even done your job, Lucia?
Lucia: Rather, the German did it for me.
Gino: It's been a bad day...
Vito: Feel better, old man. Wanna drink?

Evelyn went about to refill the orders and gave Lucia ice water. She raised her eyebrows at the angry Italian who hurried in like he owned the place and made it a point to keep her head low. If Lucia was scared by the old man, then he had to be a force to be reckoned with. She relaxed when he took the money, and started beating on Vito.

"Well then, my good sir," Kitty said pleasantly with a smile. Sure this man sent his gang to the Phantom Jack to collect his money or wipe her off the face of the Earth, but that didn't mean that she couldn't get a few bucks off him. In her business manners and how one presented herself was was the key to winning the game; if you got the other person's money, you won. "Is there anything I can get fer ye?"

Katya and Nikolai watched silently as the two newcommers entered. They collectively recognized the first's manner as belonging to someone who is confident to a fault and has plenty of cash. Nikolai's first guess was that he was some sort of actor or lawyer. Katya, like the Italian's, came to the conclusion that he was a reporter of little consequence. He was, nevertheless, a person of some wealth and they both remembered him for future reference.

The second character they recognized not by appearance, but by the tongue in which he spoke and by his familiarity with, not to mention air of superiority over, the other Italians. He was clearly their boss (and father, based on how they spoke to each other) -- another person to remember. Katya glanced at Nikolai casually, raising her eyebrows for the briefest of seconds. Getting a bit "cozy" in here, her expression said. Nikolai nodded vaguely in response, his eyes closed. Perhaps, but let's wait a bit more and see...

"It appears that you already have quite a crowd, Miss Kitty," Katya said with a smile. Nikolai continued: "Indeed! Are you quite certain you needn't a help with cleaning?"
