"Again you bargain with the lives of others to save yourself." he said angrily. "But you're forgetting one thing: If Akari or myself dies, you won't get 3 inches before you're pumped so full of laser fire they'll have to identify your corpse by your dental records. You want to leave here alive, you put Akari down, and we will let you save your slimy skin..." As Hawkes spoke, he felt a bitter taste welling in his mouth. They were so close to killing Valkier! But he had to deal with him as long as he had Akari. And Hawkes did not break his deals. |
Digithe Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 884 | Posted: Mon Aug 08, 2005 12:19 pm | Characters: All for this theme; By Digithe: This theme, Any theme As Hawkes spoke, the rest of his battalion showed up and trained their rifles on the emperor. With these last two was none other than Falcone, no longer walking with their help. He now walked swiftly, his legs were sturdy and his strides as long as ever. In fact, the soldiers who had previously been helping him to walk were now nearly jogging to keep up with him. His steps, however, were silent in the dark hallway. He realized long before that a silent approach could have its advantage, depending on what the situation ahead was. As he neared the confrontation, he soon saw that he was correct. There was Valkier, one hand pointed towards Hawkes, presumably with a weapon of some sort in it, and the other near Akari's throat, not holding her particularly securely. The Xarian king assumed there to be a dagger in this hand, but he saw a path of action that would likely make the presence of such a weapon unimportant, especially considering his silent approach.
Without looking back at them, he telepathically told the soldiers to hold their ground and remain silent as he continued forward, making hardly a sound. When he was just beyond Valkier's reach, he took one more step forward and took hold of his wife's body, then lifted her up, lifting her head first in case there was, in fact, a weapon in the emperor's hand, and stepped backwards as quickly as he could. |
| Eshe Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 485 | The Queen sat in her darkness, sobbing. Piles upon piles of corpses surrounded her trembling frame as she prayed for deliverance. The more Akari looked around, the more familiar faces she could see. Her aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters... She couldn't take much more. Suddenly, the corpses dissapeared, and she felt someone wrap their arm around her waist. The Queen winced at its touch. It was cold as ice, and it was making it difficult for her to breathe. The person held her, crushing her in it's grasp. She head the figure laugh sinisterly; it was Valkier. Akari tried to scream 'LET GO!' but again, her words were muted. She felt 'Valkier's' right hand slip down her waist and further down her body; her eyes widened, and she screamed "STOP!". This time, however, her scream ran true. The darkness turned to light, and she felt warmth once more. She felt a soft hand cup her cheek, and felt a warm embrace which she had missed for so long.
Akari's eyes shot open. She was slightly bewildered; if Valkier wasn't holding her (which she was more than glad about), who was? She breathed in, smelling the familiar scent of cologne which she only barely remembered. Akari turned her head to the side and looked up, smiling. "MAIREI!" she shouted in her native tongue. Suddenly she winced slightly, gripping her neck. A decent sized cut lay there from where Valkier's dagger had been; it was difficult for her to breathe. |

They were almost as eager as Falcone to see the queen safe and sound, back in the base. Several of them offered warm smiles to the king, glad to see him reuinited with his wife -- there are still some romantics in this world, after all. As the twenty-some remaining soldiers closed the gap between Falcone and Valkier, the Xarian set down his wife and looked at her, noticing the cut on her throat. He frowned, angered that she had been injured. However, this was not the time to brood -- he had to heal her.
Falcone closed his eyes and placed one hand on either side of the wound, focusing. He called upon his training in the art of Mei Jiang to gather energy from any and every living thing from this moon and the nearby planets and suns. There wasn't that much nearby, but it would be enough. His hands glowed slightly, as did the wound on Akari's throat. It continued like this, the soft light pulsing softly, until after nearly fifteen seconds, the wound had sealed, and Akari breathed normally again. Come my love, Falcone sent to her telepathically as he picked her up in his arms. Time grows short, and we must escape. He paused, blowing a strand of her hair out of her face, and brushing her lips with a soft kiss. You're safe now. We're safe now. I'll never let you go again. OOC: for the love of god, jeremy, please just use a smoke bomb or something and run away >_<; that way this RP will live to have more adventures another day XO
i was gonna explain the mei jiang thing here, but i think i did in the post, so i wont XP this is just a filler post because kristin wanted it and i wanted to distract myself from the thought of going to work in a couple hours. plus, i thought it'd be kinda nice ;) |

Valkier looked around at his current position. What had just happened? He felt like a great burden had been...where was Akari? Oh damn. Valkier whirled around only to see a score of troops file in between himself and Falcone along with his dying wife. THe idiot had lifted Akari from his shoulder without taking into account the blade at her neck. Oh well, that's life, live and let die. "THis is touching yet bizarre," Valkier stated and cocked his head at the reunited, soon to be parted. "I'm so sorry I won't be around to see this tragedy unfold" Valkier took a smoke grenade, his last escape, and smashed it into the floor. Once again, the hall was filled with a noxious haze. Taking his last advantage, Valkier slipped away making his way towards Falcone, not to deal with him, but because there was a secret escape path beyond him. The whole place was about to collapse in about seven minutes. |
| Eshe Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 485 | The Queen coughed, shielding her eyes from the smoke. "Get back here, you coward!" she shouted. When the smoke had subsided, Valkier was long gone. Akari frowned, dissapointed that they hadn't killed him when they'd had the chance. She would've gladly given her life to end his. In any case, they all had to get out of there as soon as possible. Grasping Falcone's hand in hers, she smiled. "Let's get out of here, shall we?" she said.
Akari raised her arm to the fellow rebels and, when she heard a resouding 'Aye!', she grinned and began running towards the exit. They had five minutes left. |
| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | Hawkes recovered from his coughing fit and had begun his race for the exit. Two more flights of stairs they climbed until they finally reached the last hallway. Hawkes trailed slightly behind, making sure his crew and the Xarians made it out alright. They were about three-quarters of the way down when he heard an ominous countdown.
"Self-destruct in 10..." said a mechanical voice from all around. "SHIT!" Hawkes yelled. "MOVE, DAMNIT! MOVE!" The crew ran even faster, if that were possible as the countdown continued. "5...." So close...."4..." A few yards...."3..." Mere feet..."2..." Almost out..."1..." Out the door, just out of the blast... The building began to explode as the rebels had cleared the door. The explosion was fast, bombs were rigged in every part of the building. Within a few seconds, the building was in flames, and after half a minute, it was no more. They stopped running and paused to catch their breath, the ship wasn't so far away. Hawkes went up to Falcone, shaking a finger at him. "DON'T...YOU...EVER...GET...CAUGHT...BY...THAT...BASTARD...AGAIN!" he roared. "'Cause if you do, I'm going to have kill you myself!" After this, the stern visage dropped from his face and he grinned, and then began to chuckle quietly. "Good to have you back, your highness," he said, bowing slightly. |

The rescue, to be sure, had not at all gone smoothly. However, the Xarian did not plan to complain, as he finally had his beloved in his arms once again, however weak his arms may have been. Falcone nodded, still smiling.
"Aww, Hawkeye!" Falcone said in response to his friend's "scolding." "You've totally ruined all my plans, now!" He laughed a bit, feeling relieved to be able to do so after what had seemed like an eternity. Though he was greatly relieved, they were not out of the woods just yet. They still had to return home -- a trip which Falcone hoped would prove much less eventful than the past several minutes. "Well," he said after a pause. "Shall we get going?" |

"Yes, let's." he said, walking toward the ship, preparing to power it up and get the hell off this god-forsaken rock. |

Rifle in hand with a grim look on his face, Valkier planted himself directly in front of the ship's door.
"I cannot allow you to go any further," said Valkier. "No one is getting on this ship, and, before you do something stupid, please direct your attention to the massive armada above" All peered up in questionable belief. There was the armada, a little ragged since its last victory, guns pointed down upon the Moon. "Them, up there. They follow my orders and i've computed the exact distances of the cannon blasts and their radii. Here, I'm standing in the one place they will not hit me. However, all of you are not so fortunate. It's all just backdrop for what I have in mind, though" |

Akari glared up at the murderer, growling angrily. "You fool. You really don't know when it's time to give up, do you?!" The Xarian took a slight step foward, growing more and more aggitated. "Why didn't you just escape when you had the bloody chance!" she screamed. "You know you won't kill us. Because, if you want me, you won't kill them. If you kill them, I will kill MYSELF, and then we'll see how well your hierarchy runs after you die with no heir!" |
| Asai Joined: 24 Aug 2003 Posts: 638 | Hawkes simply rolled his eyes, sighed, and hit a special button on his comlink. He had left an officer onboard the vessel in case of something like this. Immediately, the score of crew members standing on the open plains simply disappeared, as did the ship. Now, all teleported onboard the ship, Hawkes got to the cockpit and took off, quietly but swiftly, and within a few seconds, they were into the space around the moon, undetected and flying away, laughing. |

"General, get me a transport with a complete dinner awaiting me," Valkier sighed. "We're going home" Valkier glared off into teh direction of the fleeing vessel. "So I can find some way to catch them...I still can't believe it, for once my enemy fleeing before me isn't as gratifying as it usually is. Oh well" |
